PodoNamu Korean Cuisine - Korean restaurant in Kingston, Canada
This is my favourite place to get food in Kingston. I would highly recommend the fried chicken and pork bone soup. The service is always very slow - even when the place is not that packed.
Food was soo good. I forgot how to speak.
Food so good that you can speak Korean after eating this, this is the SOUL FOOD.
Wow! One of the best food I’ve eaten. 😫👌
I love this place. Waitstaff are very friendly, always feels like a family environment. Food is delicious, and I’ve both eaten in and had take out, and have never been disappointed by either. There’s and older woman who works here, my girlfriend and I just call her “Grandma.” She’s incredibly sweet, and made our night. Strong recommendation.
Tried their Mayo Chicken. It was one of those experiences where I took 1 bite and immediately turned to my friend and told him I wanted him to try some because it was so good. Bibimbap was pretty good although not as exciting as the chicken.
In love with their chicken mayo rice bowl. Really nice and cozy place 😊
Showed up for a special occasion and all they had was a sign outside the door saying they were closed. zero notice on any social medias. Really disappointing since this was my bfs favorite place and he is moving out of Kingston this weekend. Please inform your customers better
Consistently tasty jjajangmyun, spicy soft tofu soup, spicy chicken with rice, spicy squid with rice, and spicy fried rice cakes. Good portion for the price.
Amazing! Just had the most delicious lunch here. The service was great, and the food was incredible! Cant wait to eat here again!
Food is actually insane, inside is well renovated, its a bit small but that doesnt determine the quality of the restaurant.
Amazing, homey, down to earth, Korean food. As if mom was making it with the ingredients in her own kitchen.
Again, I ordered from Fantuan Delivery, the best Asian food delivery, everyone must try it.
Tastes heavenlyTakeout arrived on time. Some of my pals said that the sizes of many portions were decreased, and the taste was not as good as in last year. However, from what I ordered, that was clearly not the case. It was as GOOD as usual!I love that there were greens in the pork bone soup! One piece of advice: you could do better with the packaging of the soup- it spilled, which was not good because the bag broke… Now it was all over my shoes.
Great food. Good service. Loved the bibimbap and fried chicken.
Not the best Korean food I’ve ever had, but by far the best out of the Korean restaurants in Kingston. However, they always seem to have only one server working, no matter how busy it is (and I’ve come here probably dozens of times over the years). You also seem to get food faster when you do takeout than eat in. I’d recommend getting takeout if you come here, which is kind of a shame as Korean food should be eaten piping hot.
This place is different from what it used to be. The service is terrible. We waited for a fried chicken for over 40 mins and had to ASK (not to mention they ignored usto have the thing on the table (instantly it was served as if they simply forgot it). The jajangmyeon was nothing authentic..used chewy and stiff noodle. Fried chicken was good but served too slow. The most annoying part was the waitress had SEEN us waving at her and we even had to say “Excuse me” multiple times for our missing order but still she didn’t give a f to come over. Won’t be visiting this place twice.
Really good Korean food! Love the pork soup! Pretty good service as well!
Loved the food, super filling.Lovely servers.Very mindful to vegan/vegetarians.Very welcoming place.
Awesome food! Customer service could be slightly improved but other than that no complains. Would give 4.5 stars if possible.
Wow! Just came in for an appetizer. Not many but we chose the dumplings (pork). Amazing, best Ive had and there were 8 for $8!! Definitely recommend!!
Absolutely amazing. One of the best Korean food places in Kingston. Been there twice and every time the service is amazing.
Best Korean fried chicken Ive had. Sweet and spicy sauce. It will make you feel like everything is ok in the world. still good the next day.
This is hands down the best Korean restaurant in town! The staff is always so nice, the food comes quick, and I have yet to have a single disappointment with any of their dishes. I would give a ten star rating if it were possible.
Firat time Ordering we did not skip on the dishes we wanted and Im glad we didnt. I used skip the dishes and even when its take out its still phenomenal.I orderedKorean sauce fried chickenBibimbopCheese sticksDonkatsuI recommend everything except the cheese sticks but its definitely something you should order in restaurant.
Food is good but dont order UberEats from here. The packaging was terrible. My stew was placed in a flimsy styrofoam container that bent and warped with the other containers in the bag. This caused a huge spill and a terrible mess on my other items. I wish PodoNamu would upgrade their takeout packaging for liquids, it really is unacceptable.
Cheap, tasty, good location in downtown Kingston. Casual dining, good to go with friends or alone. This place is especially popular at dinner time. Very enjoyable Korean food - a simple mom and pop shop with lovely home-cooking. I always come for a meal here when I’m in Kingston.
We found this small welcoming restaurant by chance, simply walking up the street from parking the car, and had the best meal in Kingston. Imagine: on a cold rainy evening, a bowl of the most amazing bibimbap: a hot, large bowlful of rice and chicken with lots of tasty toppings at a good price, too. Wonderful and tasty food, welcoming, attentive staff, unstuffed atmosphere. And so happy it took us away from from restaurant chains and look-alike hopefuls. Definitely our #1 eating place in Kingston - and hoping to visit again soon!
Their fried chicken was good. Besides that, the rest of the menu was okay. Their flavouring is a bit bland and I find that their Korean hot pepper paste was not as concentrated or prominent as I would like in my food. There are not enough servers for this place and its a bit disorganized.
We got seated right away even though it looked like the place was pretty busy. The waitress was super on top of things, she got us our water, appetizers, and first drink orders very quickly. I struggled with finding something I would like on the menu, I told her I wanted beef and not spicy and she picked out the perfect dish, Japchae. It was exactly what I needed. I highly recommend explored their appetizers with some friends and trying out some of the unique drinks they have if you just want to dip your toe in the water. The banana milk and milkis are out of this world. Overall a really great experience, an impressive amount of food for the price, and fast/friendly service to boot!
Compared to places Ive tried, the food here was just average. The service here was very quick and attentive but I just think that they should add more variety to their menu.I ordered the spicy tuna kimbap and the beef dolsot bibimbap. The kimbap was very underwhelming. It was just rice and tuna and some other veggies with some type of gochujang-based dollop of sauce. It had okay flavour to it. The bibimbap was made with ground beef so I didnt enjoy it too much. I added the sauce to the rice but even the sauce couldnt give it an extra boost of flavour. If I do return, Ill likely try the fried chicken as they seem to have a good variety of flavours.
Absolutely addicted to the sweet and sour spicy chicken. This is my go to restaurant. It is authentic korean and you can tell it is worth going by how busy it always is. Sometimes you may have to wait, but that is down to how busy it is. Overall I recommend it to everyone.
It’s a great place with the best pork bone stew in town. Their hours of operation is a bit unpredictable. My friends and I have encountered several times that the restaurant is closed during operation time they posted. Always have a backup plan ;)
This is a lovely restaurant right downtown. Its usually very busy on weekends but weve rarely had to wait for a table. Their fried chicken is really delicious (especially with Korean spicy sauce), and the dolsot bibimbap is fantastic. I love the atmosphere there, with many families and groups of friends sharing big dishes of food. Highly recommend!Picture: dukbokki, half and half chicken
It is hard to see it is a Korean restaurant. It is seem like the owner of the store know nothing about Korean cuisine. As a traditional Korean cuisine, before the meal, a lot of free dishes will be displayed for costumers. There is no extra charge for adding the appetizers. This restaurant is terrible. When I order a beef rice, there are tiny pieces of beef foams float on the top of the rice. The only flavour that you can get is salt, like the flavour of the snow on the street. Vegetables are dehydrated, meat seems keep a long time. Never go again! Kingston is awesome except you!!!!!!!!!!
This place is a god-send. Ive been here at least 10 times now over 1.5 years. Although the food usually takes 30-40 mins to come out, its worth every second. The place has really nice vibes, and the food is AMAZING. Absolute treat of a spot. If I had more money Id come here daily.
Good food, good chicken. Can get cold sitting near the door if people are coming and going
Amazing food. I had no idea Korean food was so good until I came here. The service is a bit slow but totally worth the wait. Eat here and enjoy. Vegan and Vegetarian options as well (I am not either of those but thought I would mention for those that are).
My favorite Korean restaurant in kingston. I love there kimchi pancake, fried chicken and bibimbap. Its the great quality and feels like family business. Doesnt work on Mondays and closes between lunch and dinner for a break, so be aware. And I have to say the price is a little above average ...
Our favourite place to go when we want some Korean food. Theyre nut free which makes me feel incredibly confident and safe, as it is hard to eat many different foods due to cross contamination or lack of allergy awareness at all. The food here is amazing and I hope to try everything! The staff are all very nice and the atmosphere is great, they have lots to look at with decorations everywhere.
Very good food. A little pricy and it gets really hot when there’s a lot of people. Overall, I would come back again.
I have a love-hate relationship with PodoNamu. Their food is authentic and reasonably priced. In personally a big fan of the Scallion Fried Chicken. That being said, their service is atrocious: Ive waited for my food up to an hour before. But if youre have a craving for some delicious Korean fried chicken, PodoNamu should be your only option.
Ate here last week.Positives; I had the glass noodles with beef which was great-would order again. Place was fairly empty when we came, and service was reasonably paced. Bathroom clean.Negatives; Bibimbap was decent but not as good as at other restaurants, and waitress forgot to bring cutlery and left before we could ask.
Great food with quick service! Korean wings are cooked well and the serving sizes were reasonable for the price. Not too expensive and good for small groups. Suggested to call and reserve before because it does get quite busy between lunch and dinner.
This place has the best Koren food in town. The gam ja tang and deep fried Korean chicken are really tasty! As many others have said, service is bad to worst here. But my wife and I still come here quite often due to the good Korean food they offer. My suggestion is to know what you want to order before stepping into the restaurant, order right away when seated, dont be afraid to flag the waiter/waitress and/or help yourself if you need something (go to the cashier to pay, walk to the counter to get more water, etc.). Embrace the non-American service culture for the good food! And be patient, know what to expect before going into this place :)
The service in this restaurant is TERRIBLE. When my friends and I were dining in, the food comes really slow, we waited almost an hour fir very simple kimbab. AND DO NOT EVER ORDER DELIVERY from this restuarant. I only ordered twice, the first time they forgot my rice coming with the soup and the second time they forgot my cokes. The staff asked me twice how many cokes I want when she took my order, then they said they didnt know I ordered cokes. No apologies, no asking for re-delivery or so. The existence of this terrible restaurant shows the lack of competition of korean restaurant. Though the food is okay, I absolutely dont recommand it.
If it had a choice of scoring this restaurant zero, I would go with that one. They have the worst service ever. Last time I went there with my friends, and we had a drink with us thats almost finished. Instead of kindly reminding us that outside food is not allowed, the server came directly to our table and said that heve seen us multiple times before with outside food, and treated us in a really rude way (however that was the first time we saw that server and also ten first time we brought outside drink unintentionally). The other experience I had was even more intolerable. My friends and I ordered some food, and waited for almost an hour to be told that for some reason that the waiter didnt enter in our order. And I came to ask the server twice before he told me that. Then when we were about to leave, the waiter didnt even come to us to apologize for the stupid mistake that he made. Other people working in the restaurant seemed not to care about us as well, because I guess they just dont care about their customers.
I had the korean cheese sticks, fried chicken with the mild sauce & bbq ribs (bbq ribs are not on the menu yet. He did an exception for me. I hope they put it on soon, so everyone can try them.)The cheese sticks are out of this world.💯This is by far the best korean fried chicken Ive had. Trust me Ive had many from different restaurants. Biting into it is an experience in it self. The sweet consistent crunch into the juicy chicken 😍.The bbq ribs where really good as well, perfectly cooked & excellent quality beef. ( if interested in knowing where Ive had the best korean bbq ribs you can message me.)Last and not least. The staff is very enjoyable.P.s. if the food take a little time, its because they put love into it.Enjoy!
I ordered Pork Bone Soup, which was amazing, I was quite impressed with it, however what my friend ordered (떡볶이was not nearly as good. They were a bit slow with the food and left us without water once or twice, but other than that it was a nice experience.
Ive been here four times. Once, I was turned away because the place was "on break" during their posted open hours (which Ive since edited). Another time, with no notification except a written note on the door, they were closed during posted open hours. Even their door sign said open. When I have been able to eat here, we waited 50 min for food. Service has been consistently slow.Although food was good and easily the best Korean in town, the cumulation of serious issues ranging from inconsistent operating times to very long waits for food should give any visitor pause before trying this place.
