Upmarket Cantonese restaurant with slick, dark slate and wood decor, serving extensive dim sum menu.
Sadly underwhelming. Id followed the Instagram posts and got my hopes up for a special experience.Cramped dining space just made it feel loud, airless, and generic. The food was ok, just smaller portions and not very hot when it arrived. The last thing that disappointed me was the smears and finger marks on the plates, greasy and unappealing.
Good dim sum in the heart of Chinatown. I would recommend booking in advance but walk ins seem to move quickly too. Its reasonably affordable too, so good for quick lunch or families.
Im not fussy but this place was disappointing. The starters were the highlight of the meal and even they were only okay (salt and pepper ribs, spring rolls and salt and pepper squid). The Malaysian chicken curry for the main, you honestly would have thought the chicken was cooked on a radiator then thrown into the washing machine before being covered in sauce, awful texture and flavour. The service was also below par. Wouldnt return here unfortunately.
Excellent authentic food and almost no queues. I’ve been with a few friends and they all agree the food here is delicious with a definitive HK style.
Not a great experience. The starters were decent but the duck came cold. They brought it back 30 seconds later after putting it in the microwave so it was no linger crispy. When we told them we didnt want to pay the service charge because the food wasnt edible, and we barely ate any of it, the waitress thought it was a negotiation. She said that we were wrong about the food being over fried and cold and tried to convince us it wasnt to our liking..Anyway, I wont be going back
We took the sichuanese chicken, the mix of dumplings, rice noodle rolls and spicy dumplings. Eveything was good. I wish the rice noodles roll was made with pieces of meat rather than ground. But eveything was good. I recommend.
This place is a really good place to have lunch or dinner!! I went there to have lunch with my co worker two months ago, and I was very impressed by the quality of the service! The waitress was really nice and helpful!! The food was delicious!! And great outside sitting!! Wonderful place and best restaurant in Chinatown!!
Don’t be tempted by the buffet restaurant next door, the quality and authenticity of the food at Plum Valley is worth it. Friendly service, welcoming hostess. Lovely way to end a trip to nearby theatres or a trip into the west end. Definitely recommended.
Dog friendly outdoor seating. Slow service. Nice dimsum - especially Thai chicken feet and prawn& asparagus dumpling
Decent Dim Sum and one of the few places serving a full Dim Sum menu in the evening.
The food was very good, they have a lot of variety of dim sums. But the service is regular, they are always in a rush and it was hard to get their attention. They charge an extra fee for the service
Food is delicious, service is great. Ill definitely go back again when I visit London next time.
Went for my 2nd time last night and kept the same good experience as before. They have plenty of options to choose from. Their small bites menu has portions that suit my partners appetite so thats always a good to know when you choose restaurants. Ordered individual meals and ended up sharing with a friend who came along. Couldnt finish it all as it was a lot of food to pick from. Dishes came promptly and their staff were very attentive at all times
Fab dim sum in Chinatown, trendy and must have the steamed cake! Love all the tables outside, great vibe. Serves late night dim sum
Best place in Chinatown for vegetarians. The dishes were tasty. Only downside is we asked without onions and they all came with and no service to really correct the error
Very nice Chinese restaurant in the heart of Chinatown, very very busy but you must expect that and adds to the atmosphere.
terrible service. my friend ordered chicken dumplings and they served us pork. my friends don’t eat pork and only found out it was pork when it had mentioned it in the receipt . didn’t even apologise either . they was very rude and made us move seats for no reason and told us to leave the shop when i asked if we could remove service charge like tf. they also made us pay way more then we was supposed to and took 30 minutes to finally give us our remaining change. don’t reccomend.
Food was excellent and service was great considering how busy it was.
Amazing food. Very nice atmosphere. You can feel the family-restaurant vibe. Staff is extremely knowledgeable on their food, warned us before ordering too much while they could’ve just taken the money.
Superb dim sum, comfortable dining room. Especially loved the fried milk fritters, the steamed scallop dumplings and the crispy mochi dumplings filled with meat. Such a great discovery.
My favourite place to eat in China Town! I ate here on four occasions and I always take my friends to eat here when we are around. Portions are quite big and, despite being a bit pricey, is definitely worth it (you can take some home with you as well)!Tips:•For two people, one rice bowl to share should be enough as the portion is big.•Definitely try the Dim Sum, they are definitely the best dish in here.
Lester Kan was right the Dim Sum was nice and fresh and excellent for the price. The sauce on the main dishes was excellent as well. Good service and great prices and a nice big selection, cant go wrong evem for a tourist place.
Food was really good, lots of fun dim sum options etc. Rice portions feed two people. They do fake chicken if youre veggie which helps as its quite a meaty menu!Loved sitting outside in the hustle and bustle of China Town although it was quite a basic, cramped setup similar to most of their neighbouring restaurants.Quite expensive and no beer on tap.Id definitely go back though.
Loved it. Ordered duck rolls and beef in Cantonese sauce and it was delicious.
Had quite high expectations on this restaurant since the reviews are quite decent and the pictures look good, the food does look good as everyone can see by the pictures but the flavour wasnt the greatest, have eaten in many other places in Chinatown and some might not look so "instaworthy" as you may call it but much more tasty than this one. Besides that, in the table next to us there was a group of 3 that were just too noisy for us to enjoy our meal. Dont recommend it.
Good food. We were here last week and came back again this week. Atmosphere not as good as last week, Queens jubilee celebrations.
The restaurant opened at noon and there was already a queue. The food did not disappoint at all. Dim sum was one of the best that I’ve had in Chinatown. 🥢I enjoyed every single dish that I ordered. Between the two of us, we had 6 dim sum plus jasmine tea for two. It came to £39.The service was typically efficient and mildly abrupt. The main waiter was rushing here and there as often the case in a Chinese restaurant. However I will definitely come back again and again for dim sum/yum cha.
They have good food if you’re into asian cuisine and friendly staff. The two male waitresses were extra friendly! (We were there on the 30th of maywould recommend :)
Dim Sum SundayLovely place to have family gathering with Dim Sum here. High quality food with nice service.
Place was good, food was come quick. Big portions so I can be full after, however they bring dirty galsses so thats why we give this restaurant only 4 stars.
Really a nice surprise. Just walking around in China town, after a long time and decided to stop and try something in this place, after hearing 2 couples talking so good about the food they had here. Went for the classic things, fried rice, noodles, squid, calamari.. and the price was quite convenient as well to be in the heart of the city. Recommended 100%
Definitely recommended ❤️ amazing customer service. Food was super delicious and authentic taste.
The food was so so. Some waiters do not have much knowledge of their food. For example, the fish dish was way too spicy. When ordering, the waiter said it is only a little bit spicy, children should be able to eat. The xiao long bao wasnt great. The crispy suck salad was not bad.Definitely recommend to make booking if you want to go there.
My favourite spot in Chinatown! Ive visited three times since moving to London and have never been dissapointed. The dumplings and the lemon chicken are my go-to favorites but everything else Ive tried was absolutely amazing. Make sure to book a table cause they are often super busy.
Been to this restaurant frequently and often get it to take away and have as an evening meal. It has always been lovely up until now.Ordered food to go and when I took it out the bag to have at home this is what I got. Absolutely astonishing that this is £6.80 worth of soup. Expensive isnt even the word. My grilled dumplings were raw around the outside and not pleasant to eat.
Very good food served quick! But……service far from being good…plenty missunderstandings and issues(starters after main🙆♂️😂🤣 plus wrong drink at the start..)but overall very nice people whos trying do their best..in my opinion worth trying!
Very good food, extremely cortious service. Prices are not cheap, but you get what you pay for. The food is great, everything is clean, the people are helpful and the food is quick to arrive.
We had a dinner yesterday which Im absolutely disappointed about. We ordered the plate of 3 different dumplings and a whole crub with fried buns.the crub was absolutely disgusting full of sauces and they neither gave us the right stool to open it!the dumplings taste was good but the food gave me stomachache as soon as i finished the dinner and after some hours Im still recovering from that!I do not raccomand.
From the moment that we ordered our meal to the moment that the first items of food arrived at the table, a total of 10 minutes had passed introducing my first negative experience; that the food is not cooked fresh. Each dish arrived a number of minutes apart (for example, our rice side dish arrived first before the main dish arriving just under 5 minutes later). All dishes were cold when arriving at our table and even colder when we were able to eat together with the rest of our ordered meal. I am not a fussy eater however, I did not eat the food as I felt that, as the food was very cold (I wouldnt even say that the food was even slightly warm), I felt that it could have made me ill. We raised the issued with the Manager who gave us a 10% discount which was nowhere near good enough considering that the service charge amounted to £10 making the total for x1 portion egg fried rice, x1 shredded beef, x1 garlic chicken, x1 sharing side platter £74 including the aforementioned 10% discount. To say that I am disappointed would be an understatement. The Manager explained that the cold dishes were due to the kitchen being located upstairs. It is highly unlikely that this could have caused the food to be served so cold and considering that we were the first and only customers in the restaurant at this time does not excuse the poor food quality either.
Thoroughly unpleasant experience. We were seated outside on a rickety uneven table. I ordered a cocktail and was told they didn’t have the stuff to make it so I ordered an alternate one. I ordered 3 dim sum, I was told they didn’t do cheung fun on Sundays (even though their instagram says they do). The lady came back shortly and told me they would be able to do the cheung fun but one of my other order was not available. The waiter then delivered us the wrong food. My partners duck arrived promptly with our portion of rice, but I had to wait a while before any of my items came. Near to the end of the meal, one of my dim sum had still not come yet so I enquired about this to one of the waiters who said he would get his colleague. I waited another 10 mins before I flagged down our waitress and asked her and she told me she had forgot to say they didn’t have it. All in all, 3 separate things I asked for, they did not have. This wouldn’t have been as much of a problem if the service staff were apologetic, polite, or friendly, all of which they were not. They had the audacity to charge us 12.5% service fee after this as well!Never returning. Go to Wan Chai corner instead.
I don’t really eat in Chinatown as it is a place for tourists. It’s not bad just that you don’t get the best Chinese food here. However I must drop a short review to comment on their Dim Sum.The Dim Sun you get here are the refined ones which you don’t get in this country, so I was pleasantly surprised to sample them in Chinatown.Just look at the Siu Mai, it’s amazing! I have not seen anything like this outside of Hong Kong! Service not so good as you would expect from a tourist area, but if you are just coming for Dim Sum, you are in for a real treat!
Felt so great to be eating out in the open area! Food was great. They have taken their own twist to some dim sum and I recommend trying their “fried milk”, duck’s tongue and crispy noodle cod with mango sauce. Another of our favourite is the cheong fun with fried prawn fritters.Tried to go back again but met a really nasty waitress who kept shouting at us that the restaurant only opens at 12pm. We asked if we can just take a look at the menu but she shouted at us again “12pm, I said 12pm!”. We left as this isn’t how we want to be treated as customers.
Absolutely stunning food and Classy style, we loved every mouth full.Lunch for four very reasonable even though we ordered to much and waitress boxed up to take home.Class effort, we cant wait to return.
Congee and dim sum are nice. Fresh out and in decent portion. Changfen is crispy with prawn inside so very tasty. A bit of expensive here though 47 in total here
Its a nice chilled atmosphere (if you prefer thatand right in the centre of Chinatown. Food tasted pretty good but a bit on the pricey side. You order a main and then noodles/rice on the side separately so cost can add up, but its big portions.
Very tasty dim sums and fresh ingredients. Usually, I find it heavy when I eat out but it was very light. We will definitely come here again.
I honestly do not understand why the ratings of this place aren’t higher. I absolutely loved it. Sister declared that it was one of the best Chinese food she had ever had. The location is great (China town), do admit it was a bit difficult to find, but you’ll be fine if you follow google maps. The menu was quite daunting, but once we got out head around it, we couldn’t stop ordering. We did it Asian style and got a bit of everything to share.Everything came out hot and the food tasted so fresh. There was a lot of different flavours. The only things I wasn’t a fan of was the crispy duck rolls and the dumplings, but that’s a personal preference.I would definitely go again.
Great options ranging from a wide selection of dumplings to large mains to share. Good service and extremely good deals at the moment. Recommended for a quality lunch seating at the outside tables or away from the heat in the cosy indoors area.
Very tasty. The staff could be a bit nicer/chattier. They have a few veggie options that can be expanded but overall a very good place with various Chinese dishes as well as dumplings. Clean and easy to find in China town
Ive been recently to plum valley with few friends on Sunday to have a lovely dim sum lunch. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. One of the best Chinese restaurant in Gerrard Street.
