Plum Market Kitchen - DTW Airport - Shop in Romulus, United States
Line was really long and the food was overpriced and terrible. Would rather of gotten one of those prepackaged bad sandwiches than spend $20 on terrible tacos here. Even the sides were terrible.
Best breakfast (grab & goat DTW! Sandwiches, eggs, bacon, sausage, and potatoes!
Cardboard Cauliflower tacos, cold French fries, awful broccoli & kale salad, all for $18. Usually can count on this place for decent airport food. Will stick to cold salads next time….
Was reluctant to get airport food, but was so grateful I came here. I got the grilled chicken, cauliflower, and Mac and cheese and it was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time! Very worth it
Ordered a cappuccino at zingermans, which is usually so good. It tasted like a weak Chai. Person before me ordered a chai, guessing staff didnt rinse something? Disappointed
Overpriced, but what else would you expect from airport food. There was a sign that stated, "Order Here." I stood there, and then a female employee with red/burgundy dyed hair gave me attitude and said, "Go stand over there to order," even though theres a sign that states otherwise. She actually gave every customer attitude who would stand there to order.Wouldnt be hard to fix the signs regarding where to order food along with providing Plum Markets Employees with rudimentary customer service training. Theres fast food chains that charge much less where the employees are much better educated regarding customer service and professionalism. This worker acted like shes doing us a favor, as if were just begging her to pay $30 for overpriced food.
They have absolutely no idea how to make an espresso or latte. You ask how many shots are there and are delighted to hear that it is four. Then you watch the woman use the grinder to fill one filter basket, not even tamp it, and put it on the machine. They have a sweet strata machine by the way that should be able to make some amazing drinks. What should be a double shot is allowed to continue to run to fill up the cups to 4 ounces. Then she scalds the milk beyond believe and foams it way up and just dumps it on top. What you’ve got is a under extracted disgusting drink that tastes like scalded milk that burns your tongue.
My goto spot at the Detroit Airport. Have been there many times. Freshly made food, as well as prepared. Great selection. Carrys Zingermans coffee & baked goods
The most ridiculously overpriced food in an airport. $2 for a banana? Do they have any idea what the prices are on the outside? I don’t know how they keep a straight face.
I ordered a combo. I was told that all but one of their dishes was a side. After purchasing I realized I was charged for 2 meals despite telling me the "side" I ordered was a second meal. They wouldnt give me sides to account for the meals. Also very over priced. $6 for a single mini taco? I recommend going almost anywhere else.
10$ for a breakfast sandwich that isn’t even made to order and is dry. So much bread/bun, so dry. You are forced to buy a drink just so you don’t choke. Overpriced and crowded with things not people. Should’ve just waited forever and gone to McDonald’s
Very expensive. Rice was not cooked thru. I saw the workers using her hands with gloves to grab foods. She was using those same gloves to grab other stuff. Very unprofessional. $26 for a combo and water. The foods was good otherwise and yes I know it is airport foods.
Always a great experience sitting at the bar and ordering food before a flight. Patricia is a light and will brighten your day. She hustles and makes sure everyone is taken care of and she does it with a smile. I look forward to seeing her when I’m traveling!
Zingermans pastries are always excellent and the prices are good despite being in an airport. There are places to sit and charge your devices while you eat. The fresh food area on the opposite side has excellent choices for breakfast. Pastry plus breakfast sandwich is definitely a great way to start the morning.
I can get Zingerman’s baked goods and coffee now, from the airport! And the prices are about the same as the actual shop in Ann Arbor- this will be a frequent stop when connecting through. However, they would benefit from having trained baristas at the counter. Not much knowledge of pulling espresso or care in making the beverages. The market is well stocked and bar has a small but nice selection of Michigan craft beer and lots of wines and liquors. Food prices seem high, but that’s not what I’m here for. Also, great ambiance, with good music and tables to eat/work inside
the women working here tonight put a smile on my face, and thats saying something as Im very overtired and cranky. They knew a lot about the zingerman baked goods and were just really friendly and sweet. The bostock is delicious and hubby says so is the cinnamon roll. Thank you!
Lauryn helped me and shes easily the best, most competent, friendly, and enthusiastic person Ive ever met in Detroit. The food is pretty solid and the drinks are better, but thats not where this place really shines. Lauryn, thank you so much for providing such great, friendly service! Every time I am in DTW I will happily come to this spot not just because the food is good but because service is second to none thanks to Lauryn.Ive managed in the hospitality industry previously, and I definitely see Lauryn as a future bartender and bar manager somewhere in downtown Detroit or possibly NY or San Francisco. Shes truly a gem and a super good person and thanks to her Ill be back here soon.
Bought a muffin and a ice mocha with a extra shot. 14 customers later they say regular mocha. And point at me. Needless to say I spent 13 dollars for a muffin. I didnt receive a drink so I just left. Says enough about your staff.
It’s an airport I know so expectations are tempered but this place was total garbage. Rude staff, none of them wanted to be there. Ordered a breakfast sandwich that was ice cold in the middle (bad enough they are pre making these and heating them up). Don’t punish yourself by eating here
NASTY BREAKFAST SANDWICH, stale, bacon, egg and biscuit looked and tasted like a week old, almost warm. The guy went in the back for my PRE-MADE sandwich, when assumedly new, fresh one were right there in t display case. CRAZY HIGH PRICES THROUGHOUT ALL OF THEIR ITEMS.
Prices were way high and my sandwich literally had a smear of Mayo and the Turkey was a sliver of a piece on one side. If you’re going to charge so much for a sandwich, at least make it fresh. Old and nasty soggy sandwich.
Ordering and payment process are not clearly indicated and employees make it worse by their unfriendly disposition.Woman behind the food counter just plain rude and did my sandwich wrong, not complicated: Bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. When I finally found a place to sit down 100 yards away ... NO CHEESE. 👎 I did not go back just so I didnt have to deal with her again, shed probably spit on my food she was so nasty.
for the high price, I was expecting something exquisitely delicious. This is not what I got. I got sugar-coated salmon served at room temperature (i was expecting it to be warm or hot), as well as unique-tasting vinegar cauliflower and undercooked Brusselsprouts. The $2 candy-truffles were overpriced.Overall, I was underwhelmed by the mediocre taste of the food.
I don’t typically choose to eat airport food, but because I booked my flight the night before didn’t have time to buy anything to bring with me. My salmon and two sides platter way exceeded my expectations, delicious ! They even had my favorite brand of ketchup and mustard!Had an awesome meal here, I highly recommend it!The bar also was good, although wasn’t in the mood for alcohol this early.
Very disappointed & disturbed that I couldn’t enjoy my stay at the airport and get a drink due to the lack of knowledge on behalf of the lady that was working. She saw us & requested our I.D’s (not a problem but she asked no one else but our group and we happen to be blackI have a certified I.d on paper that is VALID everywhere (even airports accept& she rudely got her manager & they said “due to policy” they couldn’t accept it!!!! That’s not true & I verified online !!!!! This paper is accepted everywhere, bars, airports, courts, police ETC!!!! This was beyond me & im upset I had to experience this treatment!!! I will be calling corporate as well!!
Oh man, so much regret. The market section has a nice selection of snacks, best in the airport. But the warm food they make is awful, salty and aggressively unhealthy. Also… $10 for a Kombucha?
Its hard to put to words how wonderful my experience at Plum Market was. Our server/bartender, Jennifer, was truly incredible. Airports can be confusing, unwelcoming places; however, Plum Market is the most fantastic place. Here, you are home. Jennifer will make sure of it! 🙌 I have been to every major airline in the US, as well as most major international airports... I have yet to meet such an exceptional server. She was fast, friendly, helpful, and fun. The level of service was fantastic. I travel for !!work and have yet to meet someone so dedicated to their craft. I spent more money than I would have, because I felt an immediate connection to Jennifer. Im from PHX (AKA "Americas Friendliest Airport"but Im hard pressed to find anyone like Jennifer. Please reach out for more information about my experience. Im happy to share and was genuinely that impressed!! 🙌🙌
Beautiful set the food looks great and the bar is nice. I was about to order the Vegan Cauliflower Tacos, until the cook brought out Salmon and the fish juice started dripping in the tacos. That killed it for me. Other than that I had some drinks and watched my family eat. Ill wait to I get to Philadelphia to eat.
I felt very unsafe coming to this location. Only one person was wearing their mask properly. On top of that there were flies on the pastries, and no one was wearing gloves while making drinks. Do not recommend coming here.
Must stop market for anyone traveling through Detroit airport! Fantastic coffee and danishes as well as hot meals and cold salads and sandwiches. Amazing staff as well and a full service bar. Great local grub!!
Needed to grab something quick so we got a sub and a chicken pasta salad. By far the worst sandwich I’ve ever had. The bread was so dry it had to have been a week old, ended up eating just the toppings and threw the bread away. The pasta salad had no flavor. Also got an iced mocha and it tasted like water mixed with chocolate syrup, very bad. High recommend going somewhere else or skip eating.
Not worth it. Went here because most restaurants were closed in the airport. Got an $11 sandwich that was about 6”-8” the sandwich was all bread and almost no meat (was an Italian subsaid it had onions and banana peppers which it had one small onion string and not one pepper. Very disappointed, you know you’re going to overpay at the airport but $11 for a small sub that was nothing but bread is pretty bad. Would not recommend for any reason.
This place is great! Get a gift for ya mother!! The gem of the Delta terminal, I stop in almost every time I fly. Primo AM Bloody Mary spot and good beer selection at the bar. Very good prepared foods and salads. Excellent selection of Zingermans coffee, snacks, pastries etc. (If only they had a full deli menu...)
I used to love this place - even though its pretty expensive - but its gone terribly downhill. My salmon was okay, but the broccoli was dry and unseasoned, the Brussels sprouts werent well trimmed at the end, leaving them woody and difficult to eat, and the sweet potatoes were pretty much raw. Warm from the lamps, maybe, but certainly not "roasted." Itll be awhile before I stop here again.
I had a vegan protein salad here a few years ago and it was missing about half of the ingredients on the posted list. Recently a friend recommended Plum so I decided to try it again. Again, vegan protein salad, again missing four out of nine advertised ingredients - no brown rice or cilantro, and if there was lime juice or garlic dressing, I couldn’t taste it.Food sounds great but it’s fake news!
I almost never write a review, especially a negative one but the Bacon, Egg and Cheddar sandwich was terrible. Bread tasted stale and it taste bland. Not worth the premium cost. Only redeeming quality is their staff is very polite and friendly.
Used to be by far the best food in the airport. But... apparently they no longer care enough to season the food or to put sauce on it or to cook it to the right temperature. Missed opportunity to be great. Instead they have settled for not good enough. Too bad. Somewhere in the past someone envisioned a great concept. Then mediocrity took hold. DTW should demand better from its best.
The zingermans coffee place has good treats. Coffee was rather disappointing. They have an ‘alternative coffee methods’ section on their menu so I tried to order an aeropress which they told me they didn’t have, and then a French press ... same thing, and finally the chemex with the same response. Not a big deal but probably should take it off their menu if they don’t know how to or have the means to offer it. More of a drip coffee spot.
This is a review of the coffee only. The latte I had was terrible. Definitely dont like that bean. To top it off I noticed they are not cleaning the steam wand in-between drinks, so it is caked with dried milk. Cleanliness folks, cleaniness.
A huge, overpriced disappointment. The food “looked” good behind the glass and I was even excited they had Brussels sprouts. Alas, the veggies were hard rubber and plastic. There was a hint of flavor in the chicken but nope! The rubber experience was back. Be careful with the Brussels sprouts and carrots, they were so hard I almost broke my teeth (undercooked and whoever made them didn’t even bother to cut the stalksBTW, the star is for the nice lady at the check out. I think her name was Mya.
This place is disgusting. A lot of the items are expired for weeks and still be on the shelves for us to buy! Their cashiers where sweaty from i guess the heat due to how many layers of uniform they have on, and it’s digusting to be rang up seeing them drip sweat. Theyre also fruit flies all over the pastries on zingerman side, i asked for a sugar crisp muffin and flies where flying everywhere as she was getting the muffin. When i told them never mind i don’t want it they caught an attitude like i was bothering them. This is overpriced food that i wouldn’t recommend from a place like this.
I got this Italian Sausage & Orzo Pasta Salad at the Plum Market in DTW airport before my flight. I wish I open it and try it first, and let you guys smell it too, because it smells very sour obviously it has turned bad before the expired date you expected, not a fresh salad at all! I couldn’t even take one bite.So I emailed them the same night right away, no response; I text them the same message second day, no response; I called them & left a voice message, still no response for my full refund demand for this expired food!I don’t know how are they gonna do business like this but for sure to stay away from this place in the future!
Over charged for biscuits and gravy (with no eggs$11 - should be $7. When told to correct - the lady made a big deal and acted like it’s my fault. And oh - listen to the other reviews - the rudeness comes with the territory here and of health is an issue - we should probably have this place shut down.
Good selection of beers and the lady behind the counter was very helpful. But the prices for the food are outrageous. You do not get youre moneys worth.Although, I guess you cant really expect much from an airport restaurant. Would go again for the beers and the service.
I’m giving this 5 stars simply because it’s a fantastic assortment of natural and organic foods. Includes a made to order sandwich bar, a big selection of fresh juices, kombucha, salads, and more! I especially loved the chipotle turkey sandwich. Also the service staff have a great customer-oriented attitude and are super friendly. This will become my go-to spot for DTW terminal shopping.
They brought back the Kombucha! This market is posh, chill, and has a great selection. I enjoy craft coffee from Zingermans, with Pour over or French Press. I enjoy the Kombucha selection, and it will definitely have me coming back. Also, the craft beer, wine and champagne is nice, with beer flights available. Finally, the fresh salads over in the bistro section are great!
This was a surprisingly well stocked convenient store with bar. The selection of food and drinks was good, and the staff was friendly. The prices were a bit high, though. The baked goods looked good too. The meat on the sandwiches at the counter looked a bit dried out though. I chose a wrapped sandwich instead.
You can eat HEALTHY at airport!!! All salad are prepacked and they don’t sell smaller portion. But that makes the line move much quicker.
Best place to grab healthy and delicious foods for a flight. Love that they use Niman Ranch and Bell & Evans products. Great, sustainable choices.
Pricey food (and grocery itemsbut the portions are good for an airport restaurant. All three items I had (broccoli, pork, mac n cheesewere surprisingly salty. Im all about savory flavors over everything being too sweet, but this was a bit much.
