Opened for the 100th anniversary of the revolution, this square contains lavish carved fountains.
Plaza del Congreso in Buenos Aires
Description
Its a one of the million beautiful places in BA. VERY beautiful, like all another. If you got there try to feel beauty of history. Its easy to get another epic places by walking.
MoreTremendous plaza, including the Moreno monument, and a privileged view of the Congress.
MoreHammer
Interesting place to view the congress building and the cupolas from avenida de Mayo, not recommended to expose cameras or cell phones for too long.
MoreBeautiful 😍 building. Great indeed.
The buildings and monuments are gorgeous but its a shame all the graffiti, that you cant visit, and that the porteños dont pick up after their pets
MoreNice picture place.it is a most in the city!
One of the landmark buildings in Buenos Aires. I liked the water fountains with colored lights parti ularly.
MoreGreat! Beautiful Place!!
Gorgeous building and park and statues and cafes and everything. SO lucky to have buildings like this!
Morenice
Pretty interesting architecture all around this vicinity. There is a park with a water fountain. It was rather quiet on a Saturday afternoon. La Americana pizza and empanadas cafe is nearby. We were here for the BA free walking tour, which was great.
MoreDefinitely the highlight of BA visit. Insure to take a tour of congress. English tour guide is available!
MoreVery nice! Worth a look.
It is a nice city but a lot of fence avoiding graffiti.
Lovely place!
Historical place surrounded by astounding arquitectural constructions that you can appreciate while walking by its surroundings. The main ones "El Congreso" (House of Representatives - Congressand Confitería "El Molino", a historical caffe anf bakery. Not a very friendly relaxed area. Pay attention when you go by.
MoreYou may probably like to have your photos done quickly and walk away. Not the safest place but still charming.
MoreI wish there were restrooms at this plaza so I could stay and admire the view longer - it’s so beautiful, but unfortunately lacks facilities. Kind of odd considering it’s a major park in front of the congress.
MoreAs I am Argentinian, its always quite a pleasure for me to visit this place especially after not having been there for such a long time. However it has to be said that it was not as clean as I would have liked it to be.Anyway, it was not a complete mess, either! All in all, Congreso Square is a must when it comes to getting to know Buenos Aires well because it is there where many demonstrations take place and much of culture affairs occur, too.
MoreIts a beautiful park, crowned by the fantastic Congress Building. This is a very important place for the Argentina people where epic demonstrations have taken place.Unfortunately, some of them ended in violence, even having the Democracy.
MoreA landmark in Buenos Aires. Though dangerous at night and sometimes during demonstrations (thats upon the violence of demonstrations and police reaction, there are peaceful demonstratioms and not so peaceful). Tourists may be robbed, specially at night, despite the National Congress being just on the other block. Nice statues, monuments and sightseen.
MoreLovely architecture set near a park. The park has some very pretty features, but there are quite a few vagrants inhabiting the area.
MoreI would definitely go on one of the free walking tours to learn more about this place. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
MoreThe building itself is incredible and definitely worth taking pictures. Beautiful fountains with their presentation of a display. Nice place to visit when the weather is good.
MoreLots of things to do here: farmers market, dog park, movies, bus & quote metro stops, food, etc. Congress building is currently under construction.
MoreIts beautiful. The Congress building is impressive. I remember as a child there were more pidgeons that you would feed and they would gather around.
MoreAwesome sculptures and statues, note the condors instead of the standard eagles. Unfortunately the dome is under maintenance and the best parts of the plaza are fenced up.
MoreAmazing place to go! Really beautiful!
Theres a huge plaza around it that is nice but is full of hobos and protesters. Also be careful at night is not really that safe theres a lot of crime.
MoreI went there for governmental matters so cant speak about them publicly since im a government official but i can say the iside is great , they trying to rebuild it again but the host was chilled , they gave you bottle water and the chaps from the governmental powers know some stuff , i would say with there power i can change ba but hey money talks so yeah but it was a good place . the time is 10:40 art
MoreA nice spot within the city to sit and relax with friends and family. There is adequate spacing for people to sit and have a picnic. There is also a play area sector for kids to enjoy and have fun. The building itself is incredible and definitely worth taking pictures of. There are lots of bars/restaurants nearby as well.
MoreOne day paradise, another day hell breaks loose, such a lovely square that represents reality in Argentina. Is big so you can take your dog for a walk or make some exercise.
MoreThis spot is the one that should get five stars but the rating lowers when you know that is the same spot that people choose to vandalize it with protest. You could still see benches all broken because of that. Also, I wouldnt recommend to stay around late at night... I dont think its safe, although it is right in front of the Argentinian Parliament. So, the place that should be the safest ... Is not
MoreThe park itself holds plenty of green space to enjoy. The only downvote Id consider is the noise wich can be annoying depending on the day you go. But on weekends is good enough since traffic is not full or as noise as it happens to be during the week. You can go with pets as seen in the pictures and even photograph one of the most iconic statues and landmarks in the city, having the Congress right across the street.
MoreGiving it a 4 since i almost got robbed within 2 minutes of setting foot in the plaza. There were two "tourists" taking selfies in front of the main building so my fiance and I thought it was safe and did the same. As soon as we started walking away they split up and one came at us from the front and one from the back, only stopped then i put a fist op and yelled "No!". This was in broad daylight around 1pm. Would exercise caution and not make your phones or cameras/money visible at any point.
MoreA beautiful park with lots of places to sit.
Its very relaxing, it has loads of shops next to it and the congress facing it from the rear. Its under renovation and so construction barriers still on but most if not all seats are available.
MoreIts a perfect home base. A relaxing place to take a walk or walk your dog. Being here gives you the fullness of a cosmopolitan experience without the typical European fuss. Just a lovely place you could spend hours with your pets or family and no one bothers you. A Mecca in the urban labyrinthe.
MoreLovely open Plaza, great architecture and sculptures that leads up to the Congressional building at the top. Beautiful fountains with their presentation of a display. Nice place to visit when the weather is good.
MoreA very beautiful plaza where you can get a feel of current issues on locals minds. Dont be surprised to see a demonstration. The eye-catcher here is the congressional palace and the fountain statue in front of it.
MorePretty, calm and a goof placebfor you to just sit and relax. Have some ice cream and talk to your friends.
MoreA nice oasis in the busy city. Some lovely statues and sculptures. The National Congress building looks out over the garden.
MoreWonderful plaza, despite the protest and the fact that the people are tired of the politicians
MoreYou count distances from here. Theres a monument called kilometer 0 from where you count distances to every corner in Argentina.
MoreIf you are into architecture... You will love this place. You will love BA.
Beautiful architecture on a busy intersection. Too bad it was being renovated and we couldnt see much. Also seems to be a bus stop so it can get crowded pretty quickly
MoreGreat place to have a guide. I went on the Free Walking Tour that starts here weekdays at 3pm. English and Spanish tours. Highly recommended so you get a full understanding of the citys history.
MoreReally nice grand building, beautiful architecture. Unfortunately the surrounding area is run down with makeshift homeless "huts" made from old mattresses, plastic, and cardboard. This makes an otherwise gorgeous area somewhat of a dump.
MoreThis place has beautiful photo spots which are, unfortunately, very run down and, in the case of the fountain, behind ugly bars. If youre nearby, come for a quick stroll DURING THE DAY (it gets seedy once the sun sets).
