Playa Penca - Public beach in La Cruz, Costa Rica
Great beach! My kids found good seashells here and the waves were manageable for them. There is a very strong current out as waves come in, so be mindful of little ones.
Nice beach. Sand here gets pretty hot during the day. Water was murky while we were here. Some rocks with small tide pools. Its not much of a hidden gem as it may have been in the past.
This beach is by far the best in Potrero area, very few people (9during the week...busier on weekends....prestige sand.
Beautiful beach! We tried going to Playa Conchal but it was closed due to the red tide (marea roja). Playa Penca was much less crowded than the other beaches and had beautiful tide pools near the cactus covered hills. The water was crystal clear and the sand was soft and white. Find a tree to relax under and youre golden.
Extremely dirty water today otherwise the beach itself is beautiful. No services, bring what you need.
Great locals beach with some shade from trees close by. There aren’t any bars or restaurants but the beach is nice.
Beautiful white sand beach, not crowded
One of my favorite beach in Costa Rica🥰❤️
Awesome day
Stunning, clear water and white sand beach! I will always go out of my way to visit this beach whenever I travel to Costa Rica, it’s one of my favorite places on earth :)
Serene place
That was my dream come true, the place its amazing
watch out for the old guy wanting money to park. Some shade but rocky there is a bar with some food but long dirt road. We preferred bralitas right off the road where we could walk 15 min and be on the seashell beach
Watch out for the sea urchins
People are so welcoming 🙏
3 years ago it was a hidden gem with almost no tourists when visiting. Still great and one of the nicest Ive been too. Arrive early but park a good distance from the regular beach front parking. You will get blocked in despite the helpful attendants best efforts.
So nice beach
Lovely beach. Some waves. We spent an hours or so picking up trash.
Nice, long beach
Better snorkeling than San Juanillo. When you dead-end at the parking lot take the dirt road off to the right and drive as far as you can go to find a spot to park. The goal is to snorkel the rocks off the right hand side along the cliff. Enter at the beach where its mostly sand and then hug the rocks on the right. You can see tons of fish, puffer fish, parrot fish, damsel fish, blue sargeant fish, tons of life.
White sand and prive beach you going to enjoy this place
Very beautiful white sand beach with cristal water. Nice place to hang out with friends and family.
Incredible beach usually nobody on it ! 18 years of loving it ! make it over 20 yrs now ! Awesome
Nothing better than a public beach which is quiet and secluded.
Josh will like it but you wont!
Too open and hot.
Beautiful beach. Clean and quiet.
Beautiful beach, there is not more shadow than the one the big tree gives you but still worthy to visit. Sometimes you can find sea turtles but is not an usual thing.
Soft white sand and warm water.
Beautiful beach
Not much wave action. No shade. Nice beach, especially for watching sunset.
Beautiful Beach
Absolutely stunning beach. The beach only has a few people on the entire beach. Sand is so soft, great for swimming and pretty good snorkelling. Love this place because you pretty much have the beach to yourself. Small dirt toad heading down to the beach.. watch for the signs off the road.
Great calm beach, at the right time you could be the only person on the beach
Playa Penca is a very nice secluded beach that has great views. We visited this beach multiple times and had plenty of space to enjoy both the water and sand. We had the opportunity to view a wonderful sunset from the beach. Would definitely recommend this beach for those who want a refuge from the beaches packed with tourists.
Beautiful secluded beach with no amenities
Nice place
My best friend and I hiked to Playa Penca from El Coco. It was a long, tough uphill hike, but it was worth it. We had the beach to ourselves. The sand is nice and white, and the water is clear and beautiful. It was one of the best days of my life.
This has a better chance of being called a white sand beach than a nearby Playa Azucar
