The food was excellent i will come back again every dish we had was tasty. But you need to be patient not enough help to serve your food.

A good place to dance Salsa and Bachata on Fridays.

Do not order the chicken fajitas! The chicken, was a boiled piece of breast with no seasoning. I dont think you can called what they served me fajitas... I was very disappointed. The beans tasted a bit burned. They did give us a free dessert to make up for it.The environment is nice. The food was not good. I give it two stars because of the dessert they offered.

I actually love this place. Food is great, they actually know how to make a drink. But their service.....common, been here 4 times now and every time we go their service is absolutely terrible. Its because theyre always understaffed. Maybe they cant afford to hire more waiters. Not sure. But please come in and support this place. So they can hire so more staff

Whoa… so it’s Easter and they didn’t want to be there, I get that. This was the first time in my life that I have had a pile of enchiladas. The waitress thought it was a Chile relleno because the pile was shaped like one! No care, no flavor, no life at this place. It needs bar rescue or Gordon Ramsey to save it.

We drive by this place all the time living in North Riverside. We frequent the restaurants in the area and have always wanted to try this place out. Wife and I are happy we did, we set down right away (Wednesday evening). I wasnt expecting this place to have the character it does; quaint, cozy and a full bar. We ordered Brussels sprouts, perfectly seasoned and roasted (Im on a diet 😅), decided to try my "go to", everywhere I go to start, green chicken enchiladas, they werent as spicy as my wifes but they are tasty, beans and rice are prepared authentically. Service was just as good. Im excited to go back for brunch this Sunday Yeah, Ill stay that they next week!

Had heard good things about this place and their delicious food so we decided to give it a try. The decor was great but the ambiance was a bit off. Waitress was not very welcoming at first but she warmed up to us and did a good job attending to us.The food was indeed delicious, authentic and had some unique flavors and weve eaten at many Mexican restaurants all over the U.S. and Mexico.When we got our bill to our surprise we were charged for every bit of salsa (3 lil bowlswhich is fine but i feel like they should have informed us that it wasnt complimentary as pretty much every other restaurant doesnt charge for salsa while dining in. We may return one of these days but it wont be on the top of my list.

A hidden gem on University Avenue. An authentic Mexican cuisine with a slight twist of modern. The service is impeccable, my waiter Ricardo recommendations help me create the perfect meal.Started with a great margarita (Mangonadaand carnitas on the bone for starters and the the braised beef colorado served with fresh homemade tacos.My first time here,but not the last.

Nice staff. Our order could of had some fresher shrimp, less gamy meat. The ambience is nice. If they tasted their food before it got served that would really help elevate the place.

The food here was absolutely fantastic! The service not so much.. There was an issue with our drinks and it was fixed by the bartender, but the waitress (as nice and like mom as she waswas very inattentive.

Its a mix of traditional and modern mexican dishes. They have modified their menu due to the pandemic yet they offer great drinks with mexican tequila, mezcal and wines. Love their decor. Start with their wing( they are not wingsand carnitas appetizer ( BBQ ribs with a mexican chile guajillo sauce). Love it. I brought a friend later and we had desserts. I was told they have brunch on Sundays.

I have been wanting to eat here for a while. The food was inexpensive, and the portions were worth the cost. The drinks. The drinks were the best they have some very fun choices and it looks like a full bar. We went for brunch on a Sunday and it was low-key the ambiance was nice and the service was great

Fresh food, nice flavors, friendly service, local friendly, and a good variety on the menu. Would be a fun date night venue. When we were there they had stand up comedy. Nice patio area.

Cute Mexican restaurant with nice spacious sitting, great chairs, fire place and, bar. Taco Tuesdays brought here. The food was ok... some "regulars" stated beef tacos was the best. Good friendly service.

Great atmosphere & awesome food!!! Their chicken mole is amazing. Also made one of the best Paloma drinks Ive had. Their Sunday brunch is very good as well.

Im going to give them the benefit of the doubt this time. But this is constructive criticism we went there this Sunday as soon as they open and the beans taste like theyre from a can, the eggs, they were horrible. And Ive been on the earth over 50 years, my type of work sends me everywhere in Southern California and Ive never had eggs prepared where they were horrible this was the first time. They need to get rid of that cook and get someone who really knows what theyre doing in there. Also we know when a product is from a can and not and unfortunately pretty obvious with the dish were given. This time five star but in about 2-3 months well try again.

Today we found this really nice location in riverside, the atmosphere was good the location is clean. Staff was friendly the owner was super nice. The food quality was really good. Plus it feel good to support local businesses during this times. So if you are in town check it out and give this location a chance.

It had a great ambiance! When my boyfriend and I went, it was not too crowded inside. Theres an outdoor seating area as well. The food was great, aside from the chicken being slightly oversalted, and the cocktails were lovely too. Service was on top of it. A great experience for a Saturday night outing in a pandemic!

The staff is GREAT, the food and cocktails are AMAZING; best brunch Ive had! The owner is also the chef and you can taste the pride in the food he prepares; he came out to meet me at my request, and he visited all the other tables and has a great report with his customers. Jessica was very attentive and helpful. Jordan killed it with signature cocktails. We will DEFINITELY be returning regularly!

Absolutely love this place! High end feel with home style pricing. Staff is fantastic. Vibe is so chill & welcoming. Love the food! They even have mushroom , zucchini & potato tacos!! Drinks are freaking delicious 🤤 very must try!!

We have been here twice now and will keep going. It’s upscale for this type of Mexican restaurant with a very different menu. The chips are fresh, the guacamole is very tasty as is these salsa. There fish dish is wonderful as is the carne asada. The service is excellent as were the margaritas.

My first time at this Awesome location! Great drink prices. The outdoor seatting was so nice! Specially during this Pandemic. Thank you to Elia, the owner and her son who was our bar tender. Different not bad but also not WOW.Mexican American Fusion with a little Hollywood in it!I wish they had authentic horchata.Good but different I wish they would have addressed the hair in my food!

Good place, but needs more on the menu not much to chose from, brunch should be combined with lunch, 3 menus and all we got was brunch 😒and chips should have something on the bowl not just put on like that 😒 although mimosa for brunch 👌

This is my first yelp review. I do so as I am so amazed at Placita. Decor is very soft and pleasant. Staff very personable. Great margaritas straight up the way I like it. But the reason I am writing at 5 am after dinner there last night is the food is fabulous. I drive to Riverside to hang with my son. No other Mexican restaurants in Riverside that come close, either here in LA including Pasadena and East LA. Food is really incredible. The fish a la VeraCruz was amazing. The wonderful taste lingers. Chicken with mole, also amazing. I can not recommend this restaurant too highly. I do so as I want them to flourish so I can keep coming back for more incredible dining experiences! Truly!!!

This is Mexican food on another level. Dont need to go to West LA or The Valley to get seriously tasty next-gen flavors ... Theyre right here in Riverside. Great wines from Mexico are an added bonus ... everything we tasted was delicious ... and I can rarely say that about a restaurant. If Nancy is your server, the experience is even better.

The brunch menu seemed great until I got the food. I ordered chilaquiles which were stale tortilla chips with salsa verde. I didnt get queso or crema. My sister ordered "El clásico" and didnt receive a salad as stated on the menu and the toast did not have butter. The place looks nice on the inside and I would never turn as I pass by. Mimosas are eh ok...The servers are not very attentive either.

Great place to relax and eat great food. Drinks are always perfectly mixed and good variety. The servers are always friendly, wholesome and well informed. Finally the chef, great cook always on point food is always served just like we order and perfectly plated at great prices. Overall you leave placita with a great feeling experience! Very attractive place and had high hopes but this was not the place. Ordered magaritas and they were poor at best.... Food was simply flavorless. Just disappointing all around.

Such a great experience here. Me and My husband went for our anniversary and they made us feel so very special. The wait staff and the owner were very personable. We had the Chicken and the New York Steak and both were out of this world. The drinks and appetizers were delicious as well. I will def be back!

This is a great new little restaurant in Riverside. It is upscale Mexican food. The food is high quality and you can really taste it. The restaurant staff was very attentive and I felt well taken care of. My boy friend and I ordered the lamb shank and the fish entrees to share. The lamb was tender and marinaded in a delicious green sauce. The fish was some of the best dish I have tasted especially when paired with the perfectly made polenta and vegetables. I would say definitely give this place a try.

This is a great new restaurant to try out. I got the lamb shank which comes with the polenta it was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. My friend got the carne asada which were so tender. As our sides we got the tortillas and rice. The rice was Mexican fusion with Asian flavors. For dessert we got the apple crisps which was so good. The food was excellent but the customer service was out of this world. I highly recommend this restaurant!

On 1/27/2019 I had the pleasure of joining The Marios Place crew to a post Christmas Party at this fine establishment, I must say I was blown away when I walked in, the decor is relaxing, pleasant simple color scheme, yet sophisticated.The GM known as Jeremiah, he came out introducing himself shaking hands with the guest making you feel like you are all that matters to him. He was knowledgeable of his occupation, he knew the history of the restuarant, why it was named "Placita" and the meaning. Our server Miss Nancy, was just a sweet peach, attentive to our needs and wants. The Food OMG ... Guacamole w/Pumpkin Seeds, had the right amount of flavor, nice texture, the Roasted Salsa, with just the right amount of heat, with a back drop of citrus. House Salad, the slices of pear, were a great complement to the greens. Tortilla Soup, was all about the flavor, the cilantro brought all together. Carne Asada, so juicy, tender, and flavorful, accompanied by Roasted Pee Wee Potatoes w/ Cipollini Onions, Amazing ... Pasta Strozzapreti, tossed in a mild Poblano Cremaw/Leeks, and Chanterelle topped with Queso Fresco, very nice twist. Dulce De Leche Panna Cotta, Brilliant, they changed the way I look at Blood Oranges forever.Thank You all for a very exciting dinner, its about time we got a mexican restaurant with some daring new ways to cook mexican food.

This restaurant was incredible! Everything was fresh and top of the line. The flavor and taste of the food was incredible! The service was excellent; the cocktails were beautiful (fresh orchid in my margarita!and well poured; and the decor was beautiful! We’re looking forward to returning for our next special dinner out. I normally wouldn’t be able to afford a dining experience as excellent as this and I am so happy to have accessible and legitimate fine dining as an option in Riverside. Prices may look high to some but are genuinely modest for the quality of food. This place would be off the charts expensive in LA.

I can not say enough about this restaurant. Six weeks in and I can envision this place being the biggest hit in the IE. Its fairly close to UCR and away from the Downtown Riverside ambience to this area that stands alone in its characteristics. If I may Id say its a sparkling jewel in a mine. My my date and I were ushered in with a glowing energy and a soft smile in the eyes we sat and very large comfortable chairs and I can see the layout of this restaurant had a flow to it it wasnt compromised and it wasnt empty either. there was Urban art painted on the wall large mural, other popular historical Mexican paintings on the bar side of the restaurant. On your left hand side from the entrance you see smaller tables and coffee tables for people coming in for a nice drink after a long days of work or to catch up with some friends. The lighting was dim and romantic and the music really topped it off. I couldnt help myself from dancing and swaying as I took in the beauty of this place it had true character a voice of its own.For desert my date and I were in awe over the menu however we decided to share the Cremoso dish and come back another time to try the others. The white contemporary bowl held abuelitas chocolate pudding with a light berry sauce dripping over fresh picked Black berries, strawberries and blue berries. How yummy! Now if youre not a fan of rich deserts I suggest you try the other dishes maybe the blood orange pancotta dish, with local Riverside oranges. This was so delicious but unfortunately I couldnt finish it....Theres this recipe for greatness within the restaurant business; add the freshness, add character, a zest of life within the room, good architecture- And youre set!
