I don’t get why people like this place. It’s one of the loudest and most chaotic places in Paris with too many cars. An absolute nightmare by bike at rush hour with lots reckless drivers! There’s so many nicer places in Paris

The biggest square in Paris with historical meaning as this is the square where the guillotine was installed during the revolution. Today the square is used for a lot of big government events. The square is surrounded by beautiful buildings and links the champs elysee street to the jardin des tuileries and the palais Bourbon. This is also where the famous egyptian obelisk is located. A must do when visiting Paris.

From the outside it was a nice iconic movie view. Worth stopping by. Also the US Embassy is near by, the police won’t let you sleep there while you wait for the embassy to open. They hit you in the face with the back of their machine guns. Also bathrooms are free here. Nice place.

Slap bang in the middle of Paris with a 360 degree view of the many monuments and fountains. Only one criticism, absolutely no seating anywhere, so be prepared to just walk around.

Beautiful! We walked the Champs Élysées from the Arc de Triomphe to Notre Dame. Along the way we saw everything. This place was beautiful. The fountains were running and they were incredible! To not give this place five stars would be a crime! Once in a lifetime experience.

Major public square, scene of executions, decorated with fountains, statues. One of the best tourist attraction, Center of Avenue.A very large square with a very beautiful architecture, here you will find some Paris landmarks that are typical photo spots of the city. It is a pity that cars pass through this area, it would be much better if it were exclusively pedestrianized. The square is nice and open. Great place to walk around and for photo op. Accessible towards Tuilleries garden and to river Seine. First time close to this huge sized Obelisk, its really impressive and very beautiful, full of golden hieroglyphs, its really an impressive work of art. Do not miss it if you have the chance to be close by!The Place de la Concorde is one of the major public squares in Paris, France. Measuring 7.6 ha (19 acresin area, it is the largest square in the French capital. It is located in the citys eighth arrondissement, at the eastern end of the Champs-Élysées.With the Reign of Terror coming to its end in 1795, the square was officially renamed Place de la Concorde, which is a reference to peace and harmony. It was the site of many notable public executions, including the executions of King Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette and Maximilien Robespierre in the course of the French Revolution, during which the square was temporarily renamed Place de la Revolution.

Fairly rich in history, the beauty in this place is not necessarily found on its surface but rather in the story behind it...yet the statues and fountains there lack luster and explanation.. they both gotta correspond..

An absolutely huge avenue. The video would have been better had it been beautiful sunshine. Place de Concorde is a major public square in Paris. Here you can also find Fontaine des Fleuves, the Egyptian Obelisque de Luxor and Fontaine des Mers. Its focal point leads to the Champs-Elysee and behind the Jardin des Tuileries.

Great location, a visiter!Place de La Concorde is perhaps the most spacious square in Paris. Unlike other squares in the city, it is bounded by buildings only to the North. Louis XV architect Jacques-ane Gabriel deliberately opened the view of the Seine, the Tuileries Park and the Champs-Elysees. Parisians who came to the opening in 1763 saw on the square not a long pencil obelisk, but a statue of Louis XV. However, the subsequent history of the square was tragic. On may 30, 1770, Parisians celebrated the second (first by proxymarriage of the grandson of Louis XV with the Austrian Princess Marie Antoinette. Many people gathered as the Treasury paid for music, fireworks, wine, bread and meat. The celebration ended with a terrible stampede and the death of 139 Parisians. A century later, the same thing will happen to the Russian Emperor Nicholas II on the Khodynka field. As you know, he shared the fate of Louis XVI. Concorde it was too late. With the guillotine. The guillotine moved here to the place de La revolution from the famous place de Greve (now the place Hotel de Villein 1792 to mark the 30th anniversary of the square with the execution of Louis XVI. However, deprived of Royal privileges, he was called by that time citizen Louis Capet. His hapless wife followed him six months later in October 1793 here. However, the accusers Danton, Hebert, Chaumette and Robespierre were beheaded here. After all, the guillotine, a Scottish invention, was applied to all citizens without exception, which emphasized their equality before the law. The directory removed the guillotine from the square and renamed it the place de La Concorde. Artist David proposed to install a Statue of "Horses of Marley" on the side of the Champs-Elysees. However, the main changes occurred almost half a century later under Louis-Philippe in 1836. The main landmark of the square is the 23-meter Luxor obelisk of Ramses II. Installing the 230-ton gift of the Governor of Egypt, Mehmet Ali, was a non-trivial task. Allegorical statues of the 8 main cities of France (Marseille, Lyon, Bordeaux, Brest, Nantes, Lille, Rouen and Strasbourgemphasize regional unity. Paris and Toulouse are forgotten. Interestingly, the statue of Strasbourg was draped from 1871 to 1918, when the capital of Alsace was occupied as a result of the disastrous Franco-Prussian war of 1870.Read less

If you walk down from Arc de Triomphe to the end of Champs Elysees, you will find Place de la Concorde. It is the largest public square in Paris and was originally the site of public executions, including Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. The place is located in a bustling area near the Seine and the Tuileries Gardens entrance. A great photo spot with it’s two fountains and monument.

On a beautiful sunny autumn day we strolled down the Champs-Élysées to the Place de la Concorde to see the fountain and the obelisk. It is indeed a truly historical location and you can see the Eiffel Tower from here as well.It is a must see in Paris and easily accessed by car or bus and quite near the major shopping brands on the Champs-Élysées and round at the opera Garnier.

A beautiful Plaza with lovely fountains in the heart of Paris city. Its around 2 km walk, away from Eiffel tower, or around 2 km walk from the Arc de Triumph. One can visit all these attractions on foot, when visiting Paris. A visit to the Place de la Concorde is not to be missed, especially during the evening hours.

😊 Must visit in Paris !! Located at the end or beginning of the Champs Élysées depends on your reference !! A piece of the history of France 🇫🇷. Many people were guillotined in the center of the square - Queen 👸 Marie Antoinette and King 🤴 Louis XVI during the French Revolution !! It is a super busy and super well maintained square. Parisian and many tourists frequent this place! There is a fountain and an Obelisk!😊 Super recommended 😊

Originally the square was called Louis XV (1758). During the French Revolution, the square became one of the great meeting places of the revolutionary period, especially when the guillotine was installed there. This is where Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were executed. It is estimated that some 1,119 people were publicly decapitated in the square during the French Revolution. In the square there are two fountains, the one to the south commemorates the maritime trade and industry of France, and the fountain to the north commemorates navigation and trade on the rivers of France.
