Pittamiglio Castle in Montevideo
Description
Well... how does one describe this place? This is likely better suited for children than adults: a quirky building with light shows and projections based on Harry Potter movies and characters (mostly but not exclusivelyand some clever arrangements. Kids might find it scary/exciting but most adults, not so much.
MoreIt freaks me out in a good way. The guide is friendly and professional, passionate by her work and the mysteries surrounding the museum. A must-go and visit.
MoreVisited the Restaurant for lunch with prior reservation (we had the entire restaurant to ourselveslocated on the street behind (Francisco Vidal). Its a nice medieval looking place and serves yummy food. Even with an estufa/heater right beside us, it felt really cold. Worth visiting for the architecture and soothing music.
MoreThis is one of the most unique places I have ever visited.
100% recomendable. Quedé fascinada!!!
MoreIncredible experience in the heart of one of Montevideos nicest neighborhoods, the guided tour was great and the infinitum experience was amazing.
MoreVery interesting architecture and the story of the architect. We took a guided tour which was done in Portuguese, it went ok. We also took the illusion experience, quite fun too.
MoreIt is a magic place, will go again!!
Nice place. New expositions opened.
Great place to visit
Very fun & funky! Def worth a trip, as its out of the ordinary for sure!
Super
It’s quite expensive compare to Solis and has less to show. Nice architecture though. Recommend.
MoreBellisimo
Magicc
We have been visiting Montevideo for the last week. Being that I greatly enjoy architecture and history we stopped by to have look at this interesting place. The young man at the front door was very nice and we asked if we could just look in the door. He said sure but guest would be arriving shortly. No problem. Then the owner/manager comes running down you must pay me $100 pesos per picture. I thought he was joking! No you owe me $$$. Everyone in Uruguay has been awesome but this chump is a real clown and I would never waste my time even to have a look!
MoreSmall. Weird, beautiful
Enchanting Historical Experience. Interesting Architecture. Great Service and Delicious Food. Ill Be Back!
MoreThe architecture is not as great as the story of the man who created the building. The guide knows a lot and seems really friendly, but he spends way too much time talking about symbols. Yes, there’re symbols everywhere, but there’s no need to pay attention to all of them.Unfortunately, the building is only partially restored and there are many parts that need a lot of work yet.I imagine that visiting this building can be a nice thing for architects, but for most of us the most interesting part is the story behind it.
MoreLmao this place gay
It is interesting place, I like it.
Ok
Good to see from drive
Took the guided tour and learned about the castle, Pittamiglio, and alchemist practice. Highly recommended as the tour guide does a wonderful job to explain and answer all questions.
MoreThis a great place to visit! We walked the oceanfront and stopped at the Pittamiglio Castle.
MoreNice to go at night... high recommended
Such a cool place with such an interesting story
This building has one of the most surprising façades in Montevideo.
Amazing place, home of an innovative architect with a strong interest in alchemy. In the vein of FLW, Gaudi and Mackintosh!
MoreAmazing building! The Saturday 4pm visit requires at least 5 people but we were 2 so we got the "short" visit. Normal visit is 180Uyu but we paid 120Uyu for a basic quick tour. You may also go around the block, theres a restaurant on the other side within the same castle where you can eat something.Mon to Friday the visit is 5.30Pm
MoreEntrance is once per day and for 200 pesos, so not sure how it is inside
Awesome place, a lot of interesting secrets inside... Must visit!
Excellent tour and Tango show
The building may be open all day but you can only get in at 5pm for the guided tour.
MoreExcellent, and historic place,very interesting
This is an amazing place to visit, in front of the river with an incredible story. There is a guide visit at 5 pm. The price is $150Uruguayan pesos. The bad thing is that they dont speak English just Spanish.
MoreA very strange man designed this house. The tour was bit much all around. A lot of it seemed pretty made up, like someone wrote their Art History masters thesis about this place. Seems like the folly of a rich familys self-styled architect. Make sure to come on December 21, though, so you can see the magic letter T on the floor of one of the rooms...
MorePerfect place for whom likes history e and magic air.
Beautiful museum, not to miss when in Montevideo! Watch out for the hours of the guided visits.
MoreA lovely front which contrasts greatly with the surrounding buildings.
Very interesting to visit and to understand the history and concepts behind this building.
MoreAmazing place full of symbols and diagrams.Short guided tours after 17:00 are very recommended.
MoreYou can visit it with your kids and take the tour to know about the architect and the building. Takes around 30 mins. That´s all. Many hidden diagrams and references to Mason´s people.
MoreInteresting place with a short tour.
