Gorgeous view
Most beautiful place in this town
Hi !Pira Delal is believed to have been first built during the Roman era, while the present structure appears to be from the Abbasic era. Kurdish people all over Kurdistan visit the great Pira Delal as a monument of peace and enjoyment with the family.[2][3] One of the legends regarding construction of the bridge relates that the hands of the builder were amputated to ensure that the bridge would remain unique.
We loved our stay in Duhok and Zakho, plenty to see and we easily walked around the town and to the various sights including Al-abbasiyah (Dalalbridge which can still be walked over. The river under it leads down through the town so the walk is very pleasant.
Nice view of the ancient, incredible folk

A very nice place. It was winter when I went there. It was raining. I climbed a very tall pole, those which has big lights attached to it. I took some pictures there, the view was great. I went here with a traveling group. I was alone. I quit my job at Ramada Hotel and I wanted to take some resr before starting to hunt for jobs.
Its a very old bridge more than 800 years ago its made from only stone over khabur river it has a beautiful shape. No vehicles allowed to cross the bridge you can go walking over it.
Its zakho best place we all love it
Beautiful landscape area🌹👌👌
Amazing design and historical experience
Perfect old cultures frome Kurdistan
The archaeological site is beautiful, but there are few services.
Beautiful place, in spring more people visit it
Not a bad place to visit and take a couple of photos.
Lovely view for an ancient stone bridge
Its need some cleaning for the down river alot of empty bottles down there
what a lovely place especially at night with ancient bridge of zakho surrounded by many wonderful restaurants and cafeteria so amazing to be here ❤️
This bridge is basically the only thing to see in in Zakho. We drove the hour or so in the summer heat to see it, and yes it was worth it. If only there was some information, even online there is very little to glean. If it wasnt for the heat we would have hung about some more, but the midday sun had us running back to Dohuk. In retrospect, I would have made this part of a day trip, first see this bridge, then go to Amedi and finish the day off with the climb up to Goes Mountain / Saddam Husseins summer palace.
Very beautiful and archaeological place its nice when see the river going through the bridge.
Wonderful view of the river
It was a perfect place i loved it
This place is very good to look at ancient Bridge, you must be very carefull to not fall on any sides of the Bridge this is more a problem with kids, there isnt any good resturant there at all. Just a place for a great view and taking pictures or studying researchs. The parking area is mostly busy and closed, rarely can find a spot. Highly recommended if youre in zakho and never been there.
Perfect view and nice weather
The total length of the bridge is (114 meters, width 4,70 meters, and 28 meters high), subtracted from that from each side (50 cmfor side walkways whose height is between (25-30 cm). The bridge is paved with large stone pieces that are paved in a stepwise manner As for the issue of determining the date of construction of this bridge, if we determined the date of its construction in (the second or thirteenth century), depending on the overall impression of the bridge. Muhammad Amin Zaki also mentions that (Greecewere the ones who built the bridge in their campaign led by (Zenfonthat passed through Kurdistan and the Zakho Strait in general. (401 BC). As for Mahfouz al-Abbasi, he says: There have been conflicting stories about what it is constructing, so (Hamartinsaid that he was Roman and (Askifwent by saying that he was a Greek who made (Seleucusone of the leaders of Alexander the Macedonian, and (Awadthought that it would be difficult for this bridge to survive for more than two thousand years to resist There are tribulations of time. Jamal Baban mentions the following: A great stone bridge stands above Al-Khabur that was considered one of the miracles of stone building. As for Abdul Raqeeb Youssef: It was said that it was built in the Roman era, and it was said in the Atabek era, from the era of Badr al-Din Lulu . Historically, it has been proven that the bridge existed in the tenth century AD, and this new opinion is based on what was mentioned by the famous geographer (Muhammad bin Ahmed, known as al-Maqdisiwho finished writing his book in the year (375-985 AD). It is worth noting that (al-Maqdisiis perhaps the only one among the tenth century geographer who wrote on the city of Zakho / Hasniyeh al-Khabur and said: (al-Hasaniyyahon a river that accepts from Armah, and he is the one on the bridge (Singaand the mosque in the middle of the town and the river on the side and said (al-MaqdisiAlso, it was said three wonders of the world (the lighthouse of Alexandria, the Qantara of Singa, and the Church of Edessa). This arch is five leagues away from Jabal al-Judi, a large high-rise connected to the mountain on a stone (Makhukkh), a vehicle that if the water increased on it, it shook. The bridge was also mentioned in the Dostaky State Book: “Al-Farqi mentioned the names of seven bridges, including (Al-Hasaniyeh Bridgeand possibly (Dalal Bridge), which was present in the Dostki era (982 AD - 1086 AD)." It is mentioned in the footnote and is called (signifying land). It is believed that the bridge dates back to (the Sasanian era), based on the style of its large arch with little convexity and oval, similar to what he saw in (so say Qali Gundi in Wadi Zerziin the Sulaymaniyah region. In an article he had in the Al-Taakhi Newspaper, he discovered that one of the bridge stones, which is 1.5 meters long, 70 cm wide and 60 cm thick, which rises from the ground by about 17.5 m, was found on it with pahlavi writing within a frame of sun drawings, some of which were damaged with an image of (a peacockas happened On a separate group here and there with drawings and symbols, including the image of the king who built the bridge, the image of a woman next to him, perhaps his wife, and the image of a bird (the eagleon one stone. Peacocks, bull heads, and horses have been found on many separate stones, and other drawings and symbols, along with other Pahlavi writing. From analyzing the images and wrapping the king wrapped around his cap (conical from felt at mosthe was one of the kings of the Aryan Parthian state that ruled Kurdistan and Iraq in the year "129 or 127" B.C. It is not excluded that it was built by Farhad II, who ruled the Seleucid state in a year 129 - 127 BC.

A very nice historical place to visit.Nothing much to do here though except for sightseeing and taking a close look at the ancient bridge. All the pictures in this review are taken by myself on my trip there on 18th Jan, 2020.
Historic bridge which were built during Abbasi rules. It is good for tourists to visit and enjoy beautiful view of river and mountains in Zakho.
The place is historical and it is a great feeling when standing on the bridge, but overall, the place needs a lot of improvement and development, too many places need to be cleaned, the water is dirty by the way.
great place and very historical
A great place with a wonderful natural enviromental views
One of the best places to visit as it has this old historical bridge
This is the best historical place in Duhok which I strongly recommend its visit. This is the largest ancient building in Duhok Governorate. It was built during the Romanian era & it was the only passage over (Khaborriver at that time. Visitors of this bridge can pass to the other bank easily. Just be careful if there are children in accompany. The river can be surging in spring time which is giving another excitement to the visit. In summer the visitors can enjoy watching young divers from Zakho jumping from the top of the bridge to the river (you can try if you can).Access to the site is so easy, it lays far from traffic jams and now can be accessed from both sides of the bridge with many parking places. However, the place is very crowdy in holidays & in certain occasions, this can be inconvenient. The main access road now is from the southern side & if visitors are coming from the borders or from other Iraqi cities they can go to the site without entering Zakho. The bridge was renovated few years ago & it is safe & well viewed now.Beside the bridge there are a lot of restaurants & cafés that are offering a variety of food and beverages.
Ancient bridge that can give you the feeling of how local used to live. However, the place isnt supported enough to spend some quality time there.
Historical location.. A brick and mortar bridge built around 400 years ago.. Local tourist attraction.. A few food serving places can be found on both sides of the bridge where you can order the traditional kebabs and grilled fish.. Other public services are minimum ( no public bathroom, no special wheelchair ♿ routes)..

Its the best place in Zakho city and ancient in Kurdistan
a place to visit when you’re in Zahko city, only 45 minutes far from Duhok city. i recommend it for a visit as a heritage site but definitely not for the food as the food near to the bridge is with a very bad quality and no vegetarian options are available. always grab some food from the city center restaurants and you can eat on the bridge with a good view.
Nice ensient bridge but The view hi den and distroyed by too much shops around area. When you Take a picture you find just shops in your pictire bakground.
an old and ontic bridge, they dont have much and lots things there, its only the bridge and the war castle is destroyed and closed. the view of the bridge is cool and too creep to walk over, however the rivers blue color easily will catch you eye.
