Piper's Pub - Pub in Antigonish, Canada
Tried their seafood chowder and had a lovely server. Descent burger, good wrap...
We went to Pipers at 5:30 on a Friday evening, for a meal and to watch some live music. The service was right on point, our server, a young lady, was very friendly and met our every need in a prompt and professional fashion. The food was delivered to our table hot and fresh, not limp from being under a heat lamp. I ordered fish and chips, the fries were crispy with a bit of a tangy flavor, very tasty. The fish was lately battered and also very delicious, with homemade tartar sauce, which was the best I have ever had. My wife had chicken wings and potatoe skins, which she said were also very good. The live music was fantastic and they played to a large crowd. We will be back!!
Good drinks friendly staff a great place to get together with students and faculty from the university
Great food, big portions!
Piper pub. The fish in the fish and chips tasted frozen not fresh
Food was good, service was good, place still smells like stale beer and has a permanently sticky floor.
Cozy place, good pub food and all day happy hour
We thought we’d try the pub so we ordered their bar mixture of starters and a couple of drinks, a beer and a Diet Pepsi … when I tasted the Diet Pepsi I realized it was not diet so I asked for a Diet Pepsi … our original waitress, apparently the owner’s daughter had gone so we had a new waitress … when our food didn’t arrive after 45 minutes, I asked the new waitress if our order had been placed … she said no, so I asked for the bill … when it came, she had charged me for the regular and the Diet Pepsi so I asked her to remove the regular one … she said she couldn’t or she would be charged for it … she said the owner’s daughter was new and still made mistakes, but she couldn’t change the wrong order. Since I didn’t want her to have to pay for the others’ error, I paid for it … to the owner, YOU NEED TO TRAIN YOUR STAFF!!! This place deserves 0 stars!
Good food : a large portion of tasty fries and a succulent hamburger. Not expensive. Waiting staff was kind.
We enjoyed sitting on the patio, pretty flowers around it. The drinks were good, lots of local beers, wines and ciders. The food was very good and reasonably priced. Friendly service as well. Highly recommend!
Great Service and Food
First time in Antigonish. Dropped in for lunch. Nice beer on fantastic deck with awesome fish and chips, server was five star.
The service and food was excellent. Prices were so reasonable! This is a must-visit place if youre visiting Antigonish!
Go on a Friday when Hammer Down is playing its way more enjoyable.
Arrived to a sign at the entrance, please wait to be seated. 4 people sitting in the whole place, all at the bar. I waited 10 minutes did not see any staff, left the premises. I will not be back
Great atmosphere, great food, amazing drink and amazing service by Shawna!
The food is not very good. The various specials of the day are not bad for quick food although their advertising is dishonest and requires extra purchases. Do not order the steaks as they are tough as leather and over seasoned. Always sold out of sides as well
Our family had the nachos, wings, quesadillas and fish & chips - all were very average.
The food was good, the service was a bit slow but it was a busy Friday at supper time. The server was friendly and tried their best. With great intertainment thrown into the mix it was a nice evening out.
The place was awesome... typically its a busy place during weekends. Waited in the queue for one and half hour, but its worth it...I suggest every one to be their as early as possible during weekends to skip the queue.
Only complaint I have is wing night is Wednesday and I went on Tuesday, delicious none the less and what I saved on beer made up for the wings! Connor was great and my beers never ran dry Ill definitely be back
Lovely service and wings/beer
Service was good but the food was terrible. We were even told that the cook just wanted to leave. Food took forever to come and when it did it was awful. Burgers were way overcooked to the point that they were dry and hard. The bacon on the burger was so overcooked we had to take it off because you couldnt chew it. Nachos had hardly any toppings. We complained (which we never doand my daughter couldnt even eat her burger and we still werent even offered a discount. I ate most of mine only because I was starving after driving all day. 2/10 only because the server was friendly.
They are slowly reopening after the third wave. The patio is open again which is great because of the incredible weather
We had the most delicious lunch our server was so charming. We all had the French onion soup, salad, rubin and Asian nachos. All super delicious 😋
Its dark in there food was pretty good staff not overly friendly but not rude. Just ok there.
Excellent service and great people had a great experience. Thanks to owner and staff . Only did dilverlys and two nights but what a great time. Thanks to all staff .
Food and service were very good. Food is pub fair with huge portions at very good prices. Value and quality are right there. The young waitress was excellent and able to joke around with a crazy table. Thanks and will be back.
Tuesday trivia is definitely geared to people over 40, just an FYI for prospective players. The pub itself was fine, beers and food fine. Had a great male server, I always appreciate when there is gender diversity in a workplace at all levels.
Good pub food with a decent selection of beers. Staff are very Covid conscious and keep the place clean.
Good food, attended trivia night for the first time and it was fun. Mixed drinks are weak as water so stick to beer. The statues on the building were creepy in a fun way.
Had S&P wings and a ruben with fries. Pretty standard. The wings came in a small portion cup, wouldnt hurt to add them to the wings in the kitchen and toss them a bit.
Its Antigonish Highland Games weekend, we were a crew maybe 20 strong. We get there a bit late, as we came from Halifax. Starving for something, we look at the table tent card, when the waitress comes around and whips them off all the tables. "Can we get something to eat?" we ask. "Kitchen closes at 9" she replies. Seriously? One one of the biggest weekends that Antigonish has, the kitchen closes at 9?!? Thank God for The Wheel, is all I can say. Bad business choice, guys.
The rudest staff and management I have ever encountered. Not only do they toss menues at patrons but they close doors on people and physically push you out the door
This place really bring back my memories of making extremely bad decisions, but spending a comically small amount of money to do so. Low bar to entry. Also, low bar for the bar.The burgers are... ya know.. .acceptable.I love this place. It makes me feel young. And old. At the same time.
Food was mediocre on my recent trip a Saturday lunch hour. Tables were sticky with visible amounts of gum under adjacent tables. The Texican burger lacked a Texas taste and reminded me more of Hawaii. My wife fajitas every soggy and over stuffed with wet vegetables. The waitress that day was not to enthusiastic. Overall of it is Friday and you want a beer sure, but dont go for a meal.
Food was ok, service was good, more of a place to drink then just eat it is a pub after all so its pretty dark and creepy.
Had the pan fried haddock & chowder, was absolutely delicious. Great friendly staff, very clean. Highly recommend.
A good local Pub with pleasant Service, and a good selection of foods.Has a commercial feel inside rather than a Pub, but this location has been a mainstay in the Town for many years.Daily menu specials, and Sunday Brunches as well!
Service was excellent. Onion soup was supurb. Had to send my burger back because it was burned to the point of being crunchy. Replacement burger was still charred black but not to the point of crunching when I bit into it. If I ever return I will not be ordering a burger. Excellent selection of beers and ciders.
Excellent prices! The wings were really good and saucy. The chicken shwarma was not authentic. They should call it a chicken wrap with garlic mayo. Thats all it is.
Great bartenders, friendly servers and decent pub style food... The fish is fresh and the burgers are made from real meat. Also a fine selection of cold beer on tap...
Not bad food ordered fish n chips had to send it back because it was Burnt. Service is not bad server really Friendly. Food came out Quick.
First time at the pub I was a little worried. Ive been in small bars and pubs that just feel small town, and not in a good way. This one was different. We went on a Wednesday night after 9pm for some wings and burgers and the food was great. Karaoke started at 10pm, but it was the best karaoke set Ive seen - genuinely entertaining and hardly cringeworthy. When karaoke finished, it became a regular bar and everyone flooded the dancefloor.
Day time staff is super friendly. Lunch time food is fresh. Great patio and beers always cold.
Staff friendly. Good pub food. Little aged , I believe more of a college kid hangout.
The only thing that made me select a 3 was the floor staff. Marilyn is always pleasant at the bar and Carrie was an excellent waitress. I do not know who is in the kitchen but last time I was there I received an over cooked dry steak. This time I attempted breakfast... how can a chef screw up breakfast right? I dont understand how someone can be a chef and still send out raw eggs!!?? I dont think Ill be back for food...
Decent size bar/dance hall considering the size of the town. It is very much geared towards students given this is a University town. Cheap drinks, OK bar food. Service for lunch and early dinners are pretty good.
Karaoke Wednesdays are a scam, they stopped raising the cash prize, they let the same people go up multiple times AND put their name in the draw multiple times. This establishment needs to reconsider how they do business... but the fries are good. You need to limit the amount of times one person is allowed to go up and place their name in the draw.
The Saturday night party spot in Antigonish. Depending on the day and the band, it can go either way. Extra use when students are around from September to May. However, the food is delicious for a lunch stop. Definitely worth the visit to let go and have fun.
