Smaller than I thought. Only one or very few masterpieces for each well-known painter (maybe except for Hayez). However, the explanations are very informative and professional. They also display other paintings that are influenced/have influenced a certain masterpiece, and discuss the connections between paintings. Very interesting. It’s a pity I don’t study art history or painting, as this gallery could have taught me much more.

Beautiful art museum in Milano, founded by Napoleon Bonaparte in a nice historic building, the museum has a great collection of artwork mostly from Italy spanning a long history, must of the masterpieces are from the 15th-16th centuries. I especially loved the kiss painting by Francesco Hayez and some of his other paintings in the adjacent room.

Is one must-see place in the historical center of Milan, a place with so much history and pride, a lot of Arts (plus a very beautiful library and a garden). Loved the exhibition with works of different artists and time periods, astonishing building in a very good location. Totally recommend, even if you are not a huge art fan.

One of the most playful and carefully thought-through museums I have ever visited. You can feel much of imagination and love was put into the exhibition(s). Shame there are no female artists displayed though!

Beautiful museum, the best i’ve been to in Milan! The courtyard is free entry, if you just want to have a look at the building and some of the statues, but there are many gorgeous art pieces to see inside. When we went, there were also 2 artists inside that were singing, which added to the overall great experience. Definitely worth a visit!

Great gallery, the descriptions underneath the art pieces give an interesting insight into the meaning behind the drawings and the audio guide helps understand that. 2.5 or more hours are necessary in order to see and absorb everything in the gallery, since its quite big.

Beautiful museum. The entrance itself with the open courtyard is already impressive. For sure worth visiting for 2-3 hours. Bigger than I expected it to be. The only negative thing to say would be how unclear it is where the entrance is. They placed signs pointing two different ways. One is up the stairs and says “tickets with reservation” , while the other sign points entrance past the stairs and elevators which leads absolutely nowhere and is a really long walk. The right way is up the stairs and they could point this out more clearly. Lots of confused people…

I liked the fact that besides the regular descriptions, the paintings had family descriptions or descriptions of other artists. Those underlined some aspects that I wouldnt have considered otherwise. I also enjoyed the fact that we had storage for our luggage. Not all employees know english, but we managed to comunicate if necessary.

Historical, important Italian paintings. Well organised. I thought it was interesting to see the paintings being restored. Give yourself plenty of time to walk around, lots to see. Get a ticket in advance.

I know this is maybe crazy but I was expecting more from Pinacoteca di Brera. I was hoping to get more paintings of Rafael, Tiziano, Caravaggio and other Renaissance artists, but there is a lot of pre renaissance biblical & religious paintings. Also just few paintings of Rafael and 2 Caravaggio paintings. Unless you are historian and know all this biblical themes. The gallery extremely small compare to other European galleries. It took us 1.5 h tops. I dont regret coming because its still nice gallery over all and beautiful yard and Brera cafe its very charming. I think 15 eur per person its a bit expensive for the ticket.

A good place to visit if you are interested in art and culture. There are a lot of paintings to see. It would have been nice to have some more non-religous paintings, but I appreciate that is difficult due to the period of paintings on show. As with a number of museums in Milan, the price of €15 is a little steep. But worth a visit!

This is one of the best museums in Italy. It is "small", but you could spend a long time there if you want, as paintings are explained and have a detailed history about the piece or the artist. It was created by Napoleon, and his statue at the entrance is just a glimpse of how beautiful this Pinacoteca is on the inside, definitely recommend!

One of the best curated museums with well thought storytelling that guides you through the masterpieces on display. Although the collection on display is not the largest in quantity compared to other European hall of fame museums, Brera certainly wins in storytelling and outstanding curation.

A great gallery with an incredible selection of works by renowned artists. I recommend reserving about 2 hours for the visit so that you dont have to rush. Abou a third of the collection focuses o religious motives. If youre lucky you might have the opportunity to observe restoration work on paintings behind a glass enclosure.

I have visited a lot of museums in my life and i can assure you this one is definitely worth visiting ! Adding to the very cheap entry, you’ll discover classic paintings but what did it for us were the explications added to each paintings with fun facts you wouldn’t have known at first sight :)

Absolute gem of an art museum. All artworks are explained bilingually. Some have family friendly descriptions. Some have fabrics attached for visitors to touch. Two ateliers of restorations are on view. Feels like a living and breathing museum.

I love galleries and I appreciated Pinacoteca Brera, but it was a tiny bit of a letdown. Its more like a small gallery with one floor available only. Hence, I dont really understand the logic behind the Brera Card - theres not that much to see that youd need to come back multiple times throughout the month. But I didnt mind paying the fee, because it supports art after all :)

Extraordinary art gallery, absolute must see in Milan. This is one of the best art galleries Ive ever visited, the use of wall colour and lighting really brings the experience to life, we went in the middle of July and it wasnt crowded at all, there were a comfortable amount of people inside. There are a limited number of lockers available as they dont allow you to bring water etc into the gallery and they have a cost also.

Yes!!! Just Yes!!! I went there and bought a ticket for the next day for 15€ in a machine in front of the museum entrance, cause I think the tickets for the day I went were already sold outBut it was 100% worth the wait! The museum has some “fun fact” plaques code to some pieces that were really fun to read and think about along the visitThe pieces presented are well placed. I got myself surprised with a Picasso that I was not expecting there too as well a low key Caravaggio and a copy of a Caravaggio that made me kind of confuse at first hahaThe only downside I would say is that the numbering of the rooms got me confused a bit… I also didn’t have a map, I don’t know if they provide that or not.

The best presentation of paintings i have seen yet. This includes the high quality audio guide (had a german onerecorded by a voice actor, giving interesting insights and context. The rooms are painted in very fitting colours and the paintings are arranged in a sensible way, which is explained to you in detail. There are even engaging texts prompting you to think outside of the box and giving you fun tasks. On top there are tables for you to draw on.Last but not least the collection of high value pieces from different eras is top tier.Easily the best Museum of Milan, if you only have time for one Gallery, choose Brera!

For art lovers the best place to visit in Milano. Not particularly big, but nice collection of visual art mostly from Renaissance era. Very nice Caravaggio is probably the biggest highlight of the museum, but far from being the only interesting thing in the museum. Highly recommended. Crowds reasonable, but tickets need to be reserved in advance.

The museum is worth a visit if you are into art. A lot of it is religiously themed however so take that into consideration. The building itself is very beautiful and nice to look around in. The upper floor is the museum consisting of around 32 rooms and the lower floor has facilities related to the art school. We spent around 2 hours in there although we did walk through the later part a bit quicker due to needing to be at the next museum in time.

If you have time for only one museum while in Milan, this one should be it. Its relatively small, only one floor, so it wont take up too much time, but what is offered is outstanding, mostly Italian works. Pictures allowed inside. Reservations required beforehand, which is done online.
