Piedra Blanca Backpackers Hostel - in Uyuni, Bolivia
Very modern hostel. With heating and warm water (very important in Uyuni). Breakfast is also nice. Very clean. Just keep in mind you have to pay extra 40bs for an early check in (before 1pm, although they had the beds ready). And if you want to leave your suitcase in locker room they charge 3bs per night (regardless if you stay another night in the hostel when you come back from the tour.
Wi-fi in public areas only and a bit iffy even then
Great private rooms!
There are definitely better places in town with the price you pay. Better location and better customer service. Not bad as the last resort 😅Looks new and nice from the outside, I gave them credit for that. As a hostel, this place absolutely has NO vibe. The lady in day shift greeted us with a bunch of rules instead of recommendations. She asked us what our plans were when we checked out with a smile for the first time. After we said we are leaving tonight, she charged us to use the wifi. We paid extra because we want to stay upstairs. You might be surprised by other hidden charges. If she is an employee, I recommend some hospitality training. If she is the owner, best of luck to her next business endeavour.
Really good place: clean, cheap compared to other places in Uyuni and a breakfast buffet with some egg, fruit, muesli and yoghurt.
A beautiful hostel in Uyuni! It was a pleasure to stay at Piedra Blanca during my time in Uyuni. Staff are multilingual and very accommodating. Rooms are a good size, very clean, and new-looking. Bathrooms and common spaces are frequently cleaned and are almost never dirty! The included breakfast service is also very good, including freshly made scrambled eggs, toast with jam and butter, oats, cereal, coffee, tea, and more. While certainly not the cheapest hostel, it is clear that in paying a bit more, you recieve superior service and comfort. As long as you are willing to spend a bit more for these benefits, you will find yourself having a great experience here.
Amazing place. Nice people, English speakers.Heaters and hot water!!! Not obvious at all in this area.A bit far from the central…
Easily the best and nicest Hostel in Uyuni. The staff speak multiple languages which makes it easy to communicate if you’re a foreigner like me. They also are a great source of information for all things tourist. It was little pricey I will admit as my partner and I paid 482bs for 2 nights and an early check in fee. However! That being said, the hostel was gorgeous with an amazing breakfast included from 8-10am which has eggs cooked in front of you, breads, fruit, coffee and tea, oats and cereal, etc. They also offer a service that you can pay simply to shower, leave your stuff there and eat for 40bs which I thought was useful. Overall, probably the best hostel.
New hoselVery good facilities and good breakfast
Excellent!
Clean, warm and has hot showers!
Regular
Great clean hostel with friendly staff and free breakfast
Perfect hostel
Clean, new place in Uyuni. Had to buzz to be let out early. Otherwise good stay.
We stayed in a private room. The room was clean, the shower was hot, which is awesome and important, and the breakfast was decent. Money was well spent. The staff was distant but helpful.Make sure you ask the front desk regarding the food options. Their recommendation is surperb. They helped us finding a local BBQ place. The price is unbelievable cheap and the food...damn, we wished we had ordered more.
It was a super modern building, packed full of wonderful facilities and decent internet. Compared to what I saw in the rest of Uyuni, It was superb! It was a little out of town, so a bit of a walk into the main area. There is a confusion between the Piedra Blanca Backpackers hostel and the Piedra Blanca Hostel - make sure you get the one out of town for a new building, clean rooms, decent WiFi, etc. The one in town is worn and in an old building.
Strange place. It ticks all the boxes, but it seems too big for is own good. It feels like an institution, with lots of rules and no atmosphere. The location is relatively far out, with some dark roads to walk down. Also everything costs extra. That said, the staff were friendly, it was clean, the showers we good.
Not the cheapest hostel in Uyuni but modern, clean and nice breakfast.
Great hostel. Stayed in a twin room, breakfast was amazing. Nice little touch of having scrambled eggs cooked for you which is rare in hostels. Reception team are very accommodating, speak fluent English. Bathrooms very clean, always seeing a member of staff keeping it clean.Nice large balcony for everyone to use and chill out.If you want to have a late check out, this could be possible. And can use the building after check out for 20 bolivianos per person. But have to pay more for a showerWould stay again here but it is a short walk from the main area 5*
Wow
Very friendly and reliable employees, that even opened up at 3am in the morning (we had no reservationand still were so friendly. They let us in to wait for the morning.Check-in was late, at 13h, but it was okay.Very clean place, comfortable atmosphere, modern and everything in perfect order. Breakfast was good. We had a great stay.
rude owner and charged for everything!
Good place before the salar
Clean. Modern. Functional. Location is a bit off the main streets.
Clean, confortable, great experience
Wonderful clean new hostel. Staff are friendly and helpful and breakfast is nice! Many hang out areas and vibe is friendly.
For a hostel, they offer good value for money. We paid 28€ for a night, had a decent double room, clean showers and bathrooms and a decent breakfast. Considering this city is in the middle of the desert, this seems like a fair deal. Everything was very clean and reception staff friendly. They do indeed charge for many things extra, but that’s something that can be taken into consideration before booking - I’ve added the price list.
Probably the best hostel in uyuni.
Awesome hostel if you have to stay in Uyuni. Nice and clean rooms, big kitchen and great breakfast!
Nice hotel but quite pricey and everything is extra charged : storing the bad, early checkin, towel ...location so so
One of the best hostels Ive ever stayed in
At first, I would have definitely given this Hostel 5 stars, but I found out within the first few hours that there was a lot more than meets the eye here. First of all, this place will charge you for anything and everything. This is the first hostel I have ever experienced to charge you for leaving your bags. In addition to that, the owner is extremely rude. I had fallen ill with salmonellosis and my boyfriend asked for an upgrade to a private room since the bunk beds are quite dangerous here - there are no defined steps to go up and down and whenever you need to quickly get to a bathroom, it can be the worst experience ever. The owner not only had terrible customer service by being rude, but he also charged us for the bunk beds AND the private room for a night, saying that it was because he would not be able to get people into the bunk beds...HORRIBLE! Based on some of his responses to reviews, you can even tell how rude he is. But hey, he made sure to emphasize that the towels were now included, instead of costing extra for us... 🤨 The breakfast was also a huge let down and the worst I have had while in South America. The bread is similar to what you get in prison and the cooks can’t keep up with the demand of people eating, so you are having to wait long periods just to eat, and don’t bother trying to make your own breakfast because the rules, along with the “do not trespass” sign make it to where you can’t. The beds are not comfortable, but they are warm with all their blankets; the shared rooms have no ventilation, so it smells horrible; there is WiFi but it’s the worst and only works well in common areas; and the showers are hot, but the rules limit your shower time. This place is modern, but in no way is a modern place worth the treatment you get, the low quality breakfast (that cost 20 Bs), or the price - especially when every single thing cost a price (like holding your bags here for a night to go to the salt flats). We were planning to come back here after the Salt flats before we head off to Chile, but we have made a reservation somewhere else and will not be recommending this place in the future.
Too many rules. Not really friendly, but clean and new
Probably the best hostel in Uyuni. Clean, comfortable-enough beds, and the internet works. All at a good price.
This is the best hostel in Uyuni. It is just over a year old and in immaculate condition. Showers are hot and the bathrooms are very clean.I have to point out that a lot of the older reviews are for an older and different hostel with the same name. Dont let these reviews sway you.The rules may be intricate but this is to make the experience in Uyuni enjoyable for everyone as a lot of us have to get up early.Breakfast is eggs, toast, cereal, yoghurt and a selection of fruits. Its constantly refilled until 10am. If you need help the girls preparing breakfast are more than happy to help. The kitchen is large and fully equipped. There is an outdoor seating area for you to bask in the sun. Beers and drinks are at the front desk and reasonably priced. The walk to the city centre will take you less than 10mins and is not dangerous at all.
This is a great modern hostel with awesome facilities. Cant recommend it highly enough.
Really good hostel, new clean and got all the facilities, good WiFi and hot showers 24/7
loved the place. very comfortable hostel...
Stayed here a few weeks ago. Probably one of the worst hostels Ive ever stayed in. Can barely get into your bunk without killing yourself if on the top bunk. One plug socket between 8 people in my dorm. Very basic. Internet is pretty much non existent. Unless u stand next to the router. But even then its rubbish. Then as we checked out in the morning we had to pay extra if we wanted to charge our phones as we had a night bus in the evening. Which I thought was a complete joke as the services that you are meant to have are scares anyway. The only good thing I could say is the breakfast was alright and the shower was hot. Do your self a favour and pay a bit extra for a better place.
Friendly staff, good location, plenty of chill out space and cosy beds. My only complaint would be theres no ladders for the top bunks and the beds are tight together so its hard to climb up and impossible not to disturb others in the room. Also dorms could do with more sockets around the room.
Pros: Good breakfast, good locationCons: Needs cleaning, weak wifi
good location, cheaper price
Love this place super old historic home made in to a hostal. The staff works day and night to make it amazing and the breakfast was great as well.
We arrived with the bus at 6 in the morning. We tried to check in but could only enter the room at 12.30. We could sit in the lobby but wifi was stricktly for people who were already in the hostel.... that was a bit of a downfallThe showers though were amazing! Nice and warm. The beds were also fine and breakfast was included en very variated!
Fine for a night before visiting the salt flats. Nothing special
Very cold beds and shower. IT wasnt very clean
Good Hostel for the price, bit dirty but cant complain for the price.
