Pickle Barrel in Sioux Falls

One of the best cheesesteak sandwiches I’ve ever had. The bread was delicious. Excellent service- would recommend.

They have great food but there have been several times that me and my co-workers, who have an early lunch, show up at 11:00 and there is no soup ready. If you are open at 11:00, then you need to have everything prepared and ready to serve at 11:00 without expecting customers to wait another 10-15 minutes to get an order.

Wow, what a great experience. Thier sandwiches are huge and filled to the brim with tasty fresh meats. They offer an assortment of sides chips desserts. The soup is on point. The pickles are excellent. What a great team of people making quality sandwiches. The bobcat special is my favorite, the cheese steak is unique.

I first experienced Pickle Barrel back in 2006, but moved away in 2007. I moved back to the area in 2017 and had forgotten about this gem. I just reexperienced Pickle Barrel fir the first time again... Amazing what have I been missing for 16 years!

A favorite here in town for sub sandwiches for sure. A big disappointment is the pickle you can get. Used to get a full pickle, and now they are quartered into spears and for sure not the same quality or crunch you used to get; however, the sandwich itself is still pretty good!

First time. Horrible experience. 2 of 3 sandwiches wrong. Turkey extremely wet and soaked the bread. For the cost, taste and experience i wont be back. Plus staff were rude. Very disappointing.

Seemed to want me to tip for them to work... I looked on Grub Hub, and I thought the subs were in the $8 range... got to the store, and the prices are in the $11 range... The prices arent even listed on their signs. I tipped $1, but apparently that wasnt enough because my cheesesteak seemed kind of empty... not impressed with what I thought was going to be a large quantity of food. Not sure if the its the economic environment, but I dont have the money to suddenly pay $5 more than I thought it would cost with the sub and a $2 tip when I was expecting to spend $8-$9 for a big sub. The sub was decent, but Im not impressed with the quantity of food (not nearly as big or cheesy as it looks on the website). I probably wont be back.

We love Pickle Barrel for a quick bite that will definitely fill you up. Sandwiches are huge. I only need to order a quarter sandwich and I am so full. Highly recommend the Beach Comber.

I drive for 8 hours, every 6 months or so. Specifically to buy these subs. The big sky is my favorite, but theyre all great.I hope this place lasts forever and you should check it out.Edit: Dont let the price on my review scare you, I buy extra and bring some back to town for friends. This place is very reasonably priced for the quality and portion size.

I had the Italian and it is great. My wife had the CheeseSteak and shared a couple of bites. It was good too. If you like a good sandwich and want to try something new stop here. Be careful or you will have too much sandwich. The full size is HUGE.

Discovered one called "The Pickle Barrel"I went there, and their menu was pretty simple. It was decently busy so I didnt look too hard and made a snap decision.They had one called "Kens special" sure sounds good. Lots of veggies and turkey, cheese , pepperoni.The cashier asked if I wanted a half or whole sandwhich.Thinking it would be like..6 inches or a footlong, I elected for the full sizeThe cashier goes " Oh wow, you sure?" Well , yes of course Im sure.I make it a combo with soup and a drink as you doGrab a few pickles from the bucket as their name implies (they were awesome).I sit down and see other people get their sandwhiches and they are wrapped in the deli paper.Then my name gets called and the guy is holding a brown lunch bag with two hands.I go and grab it and its like..5lbsWhat have I done?Appereantly a whole sandwhich is like 20 inches of sandwhichand not only is it 20 inches of sandwhich. ITS LOADED.like the menu says "veggies, cheese, meat" but they clearly dont tell you JUST HOW MUCH they use.The bread could barely contain everything.Thankfully it was wrapped as 2 different sandwhiches.I looked back and the sizes were on a different picture below the menu that I had CLEARLY missedso needless to say, I have lunch for the next day or so.I was prepared for a battle, but not war.

The Pickle Barrel is a locally-owned Sioux Falls gem and I love them and their sandwiches. The Pepper Steak, Cheese Steak and Mushroom Steak sandwiches never disappoint and Ive had probably 100 of them and it is reliably good every single time. Please eat there because they are great and deserve to do well!

Ew. Ordered from here for work. Every. Single. Sandwich. Was. Bland. Turkey...ham...lettuce...cheese...roast beef...tomatoes...didnt matter what was on it. Salads. Chicken salad sandwich. Every single person at my work said it was bland. We will never order from here again.

Meh. Sandwich was ok, soup was good. For a place with pickle in their name, the pickles are not good. Room temp and mushy.

Amazing! Subs so large youll freak. Fresh meats and toppings piled high on every sub. Would definitely return again and again. Wish we had a place like this in my hometown.

A favorite restaurant, except during a pandemic. They use Food Dudes here and the driver arrived with no mask or gloves and no real understanding that contact should be an issue. Wont order again from Pickle Barrel because there is no way to get safe delivery.

My sandwich was ginormous and delicious. I had the half size Kens Special and my companion had a half sized Beach Comber. The half size was almost larger than each of us (grown mencould eat in one sitting. Never the less, we prevailed and succeeded.For desert we ordered the 7 layer bar and the heaven bar. We both liked my 7 layer bar better.The restaurant is inside an enclosed mini-mall, so keep an eye out for the sign in order to find it. Ample parking but a strange one way design to it. Social distancing was not being strictly observed here but we were able to pop in and out very quickly because of their fast service.

Ordered online, said it would be ready at 11:45. Upon arrival at 11:45, they said they didn’t have an order under my name. They eventually found it and started making it. 15 minutes later, food was finally ready. Got back to the office, realized two of the three sandwich orders were incorrect. Always been a pickle barrel fan but disappointed by this visit. Hope things improve so we can continue being customers.

Arrived at 545 to grab a quick sandwich on my way home. Checked online to see hours open until 8pm. Arrived sign says 8pm but obviously closed no lights on.

You get your monies worth of food. Delicious and helpful workers. Will make this a place to stop by every time Im in Sioux Falls!

Great sandwiches! some location! very nice and friendly staff. I ordered the chicken sub and it was $8 but it was worth the money. I did find it surprising though that they did not have "Wraps" ? A smash store that doesnt serve wraps? Thats a little odd too me.

My personal favorite, the chicken bleu streaker, may be the best sandwich in Sioux Falls. Its chicken, onions, mushrooms and a bleu cheese sauce served warm on a delightful roll. My wifes favorites are Big Sky or Bobcat.... both are equally as delicious and stuffed with lots of meat. Pickle Barrel prices may seem a bit high for a sandwich... but they are so worth every penny. And, dont forget, the barrel of pickles situated right by the ordering counter.

It would be nice to update your Saturday hours if you now close at 4. It is not a good experience when you rush to get food when your relative is in the ER only to find it closed at 4 and the web site says 5.

Unique place. Guess its a chain out of Bozeman Montana? Anywho, my steak an mushroom sandwich was pretty good. Tasted like a Philly. My wife wanted a Philly, and her Philly was like a foot long barbeque! You can order the sandwiches in three sizes. The large is way too big, so is the middle size, and the small is too small. They need like a medium small. There is a bucket of pickles for the taking, and the pickles were okay. Kinda clovey, pickling spice tasting. More like pickled fish should taste. They also offer a few varieties of soup, which I never ate. Food costs about what every other chain is charging for a meal. Not really "cheap". So, they need a better Philly cheesesteak and a medium small. But Id go back. Just not every day. Its too bad an actual Sioux Falls resident couldnt start up a place like this that isnt a chain store. Make it more personal.

Some of the best subs in town without a doubt I prefer the roast beef and they have an 16 inch sandwich for about $18 double the meat is only a dollar more crazy good sandwiches or shall I say Subs my bad

20+ years ago, I was living in Missoula, Montana. Pickle Barrel came to town and my entire sandwich universe changed forever. Sadly, I had to leave sandwich nirvana behind when I moved. I have never forget the experience, and vowed one day to return.Lo and behold, I have found it again! Sioux Falls has an outpost of this Sandwich Shangri-La, and I suggest that you must stop reading this review and take whatever means of travel you have and make your way there! The streak sandwiches are as good as I remember, all cheesey and chock full of messy goodness. The soups are top notch. There is nothing I can say to add to this experience except go now!

The food was delicious and freshly made. The 🍞 bread is homemade every day and is light and very good.The place is clean, the staff is cheerful and friendly. I would go here again when I am in the area.

The food was a big disappointment. The meat was poor quality and tasted "old." The pickles were soft and did not taste good at all. At least staff were friendly!

Very disappointed. Weve eaten here in the past and it was good. This time, they tasted like cheap deli meat. Seriously, the turkey had the texture and color of slimy bologna. One of our sandwiches had so much mustard that that it couldnt be salvaged. The bread is good and the soup was delicious. We ended up throwing both of our sandwiches away. We had them to go otherwise Id have taken them back.

I visit occasionally and while food is usually pretty good, my latest visit found average food but the service was bad. The woman at the front counter was interested in anything else but me and completely void of any customer service niceties. I was the only customer in the place at the time so while extra out-of-the-way service is not expected, neither is being treated as if I was invisible.Thanks but will go elsewhere now.

Good thing their food is good everything else sucks. They have always claimed that their sandwiches are bigger than Subway, the last order I got wouldnt even even meet Walmart quality inspection...

i didnt have a good experience here, last time i was here it was my first time and i didnt feel welcomed, when i ordered a sandwich and asked for some ketchup on it, the cashier told me they didnt have any and there was a ketchup bottle behind her i do not recommend this place at all, it was a disappointing experience for me

i bought a cheese steak got extra cheese cost me a lot of money i thought that the 16.00 dollar sub would feed 2 people it dont . i also got a 4.00 soup that was even funnier yet the soap container was so small you can go get 2 cans of soap at the store for less than what i spent. i so dont think that sub i bought was long as it said i wont be one to find out but if you ever go to this place please that a ruler. this was my first time and last time.

First and Last time. Saw the restaurant on Place and Plate. Ordered $70 worth of subs, chips, soda, bars...Was the worst tasting food ever... Do not waste your time. This Place will not last long if they keep serving bad slimy turkey and SOB that is so bland I cannot even explain what it tasted like. The gristle was great!! Sorry.

Lets put it this way. I used to go to 5 or 6 different places for lunch and after finding this place Im here all the time. A LOT of good food for your dollar and easy to get to from all over town!! if you havent been here you are missing out on a Sioux Falls gem!

This place has it all. Great place to sit and read while eating a delicious sandwich. Owner and staff are always super nice. I highly recommend the Bobcat or the Chicken Salad.

I try to eat at The Pickle Barrel at least once a month. They are by far the best sandwich shop in town. I usually try to get the "Big Sky" or the "Bobcat". Try either one of these and you will not be dissatisfied. The "Sturgis Chicken" is my favorite hot sub that they serve. The service has always been top notch and I feel they genuinely appreciate your business.
