45 W Park Square, Marietta, GA 30060, United States, Marietta
Upscale-casual eatery for from-scratch Italian fare, sauces & desserts, plus a bar & weekend brunch.
A wonderful afternoon sitting outside, amazing food and adult beverages. The owner came out and asked how dinner was and I replied EXCEPTIONAL! The best Italian restaurant in Marietta hands down.
Service was efficient but not friendly at all. The food was mediocre at best. The bruschetta was not tasty— toast brushed with OO and served with baked ricotta which was totally tasteless. Overpriced for what you get. Pretty decent wine. Wouldn’t rush back!
We really wanted to like this place. The atmosphere was great! Our server was good. The food, however, was not. I had the veal francese and the flavor was just not there. It was quite bland and covered in so much garlic, I felt it on my skin. It wasnt even the fresh garlic, but the jar kind, which veal does not pair well with. It ends up tasting like a chemical. My husband had chicken risotto which was somewhat better, but the jarred garlic again ruined it. Im not sure we will be back, but we might as we still want to try few other dishes that sounded good. Please use fresh garlic especially when pairing with lemon. The jarred one will not do it and the flavor will be ruined. I know my garlic (the food in general very welland the one from last night is not the good kind. Fresh is so much better and easier on the palette.
We love this place! Authentic Italian with plenty of options! The homemade pasta is delicious! The presentation, portion and flavor of the dishes are 5 star! Table for 2 or 6, you still receive outstanding customer service. We went with another couple and had the best time catching up and were not rushed in any way! It’s in the square so we walked around after dinner. It just made the evening special and memorable! Thank you Piastra for holding up to 5stars!
Many gluten free options, including gf bread while waiting for our entrees. Food was delicious and drinks were great.
Lovely staff, friendly, elegant atmosphere and abundant, delicious food! Had an unexpected date night with my husband and we went to the square. After stopping by a different restaurant and being rudely rebutted, we happened upon Piastra. What a refreshing encounter! Thank you Cat, Jessica, Betty, Greg and Ricky! We look forward to our return!
We held a group event at this location. The staff was wonderful and professional. The food was very good. Great location on Marietta Square. Will definitely consider them for future dinners and events.
Delicious wine options and amazing server!!!! I loved her. I wish I remembered her name but her sister worked there too beautiful souls. Great service good wine 10/10 recommend.
The server and staff were really nice and welcoming, but the food was pretty bad, sorry to say. I ordered the carbonara, a dish I ate at numerous restaurants, and this was the worst I had. The pork meat was raw, the few peas in the dish were literally not cooked (still hardand the pasta was swimming in bland sauce. I ate half and only reported this to the waitress at the end of the meal, so to be fair I didnt really give a chance to fix, but judging from other dishes on the table I didnt believe the kitchen can do much better. I think this is a nice place with great staff that can and should do better. Hope this helps yall, no shade intented.
We had a large family dinner here and used the private dining area. The food & the service were excellent! Thank you Greg & Betty for helping make our occasion extra special!
For the price, quality of food and service is a little low in my opinion. My wife and I have been a few times and it feels to be getting progressively worse. The lasagna is the best dish we tried over the course of our visits.
First time visiting Marietta Square and created a reservation to dine in, the day before for a date night. Was seated by a hostess and sat there for 30-40 minutes realizing that no server/waitress wants to help us at our table. No effort of communication from the hostess to tell the servers there is a table seated waiting to order. Looking around hoping a server would come by and still nothing not remotely close to being acknowledged as a guest. Would give it 0 stars but google is very friendly. We were the only people of color in there and we were not treated as guests.
Took my girl on a date here. The server was super nice and professional and I liked the atmosphere. Food was good.
First I was excited to try this restaurant as I was told they had cannolis for dessert! The staff was very accommodating from the moment we entered taking notice we arrived and checking on us as we were standing behind a large party. We were offered a high top next to a busy kitchen walkway, but it turned out to be just fine. I ordered the lasagna and sausage. The sausage comes on the side, not in the lasagna. The side salad was delicious. I thought the lasagna was good, had a home cooked flavor, but I think it would be better with the meat cooked in. For dessert the cannoli just didn’t measure up to the hype. I couldn’t tell, but the filling wasn’t close to what I’d get back home in NY.
Wonderful wait staff, food, and wine. We had a window seat for prime people-watching on a Saturday evening. Will definitely be back!
Wanted to try this place out. But when we arrived we were treated like we were beneath them. No one acknowledged us. They pretty much left us standing in the middle of the restaurant waiting to be seated. This place is not that big so we took it upon ourselves to go to the bar to possibly have a drink until a table was ready for us. Bartender didn’t pay us no attention almost like we were invisible. Finally after waiting for awhile with no assistance we ended up asking for a manager. Turns out the manager is the BARTENDER. He didn’t have a reason for the way we were treated. We requested for the district manger’s info. And we left. The customer service here was 0 stars. I personally feel like we were treated like this because we’re BLACK.
First time here and they didnt disappoint! Great staff, who recommended the appetizer of the day(lobster stuffed squash). We had the wgyu filet and ravioli, both fantastic. Great food and service! I cant wait to try more!
How this place has remained somewhat of a secret (still need reservations but don’t have to wait hours for a tableis beyond me. The staff are attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. The chef:where do I even begin? He comes out to visit and speak with tables, and his creations are inventive and taste PHENOMENAL. My husband and I love food! We grow food, we cook food that tastes good and know quite a bit about flavor profiles and incredible ingredients…so going out to dinner can often leave us a bit disappointed and feeling like “we could’ve done better at home and saved $$$.” But not at Piastra. The pricing is super reasonable (less than $150 last night for a starter, two entrees, dessert and cocktails)! The handmade raviolis are always amazing and the pork belly mussels are muuuahhhh!! Don’t miss this spot!
I dont like leaving negative reviews but I am shocked at the high reviews here. This is not a good restaurant. The food was mall quality. Inauthentic and completely flavorless. The mussels tasted spoiled, almost rotten. The rigatoni reminded me of canned beefaroni. It was awful. The "homemade" Sangria tasted like something out of a sports bar at Panama city beach. Insanely overpriced everything. The staff was very friendly but if you want good Italian food please look elsewhere.
We are here tonight for the first time and we will be back. Nice atmosphere, nice menu with great quality food. Good music selection, but not to loud. Service was spot on.
Ill be honest, two things made me a little nervous about trying this place out. First, I was able to get a last minute reservation for Mothers Day dinner. I tried several other places before I reserved a table here. Second, Ive read a few reviews that said the food didnt have much flavor and that it was overpriced for the portion size. I would not agree with either of these.First, this is not a chain Italian restaurant. Everything is not going to have over the top strong flavors like super garlicky breadsticks and tomatoe sauce laden with sugar to enhance the flavor. For instance, I specifically read a review saying the Indentro (colossal raviolididnt have any flavor. I completely disagree. The white sauce on the top isnt strong, it has very delicate flavor that I liked a lot and the tomato filling was very good. My wife and two sons each had something different and everyone agreed the food was great. As to portion size, we shared an appetizer, had a main course and then also a dessert and we all brought home part of our entree. So, the food I would give five stars. We will definitely be back. The reason for the 4 start review is the service was a little off in a couple of areas. First, we came down to the square to walk around and shop before dinner. We found that most of the stores were closed. We walked by the restaraunt and saw that more than half of the tables were empty. It was 40 minutes before our reservation but we decided to ask if we could have our table early and we were told they were booked up and far too busy to take us early. Thats understandable BUT when we came back there were only one or two more tables seated and they seated us at one of the few tables that was still open from when we came by earlier. Second, my wife and I ordered salads and even pointed to the item on the menu when I ordered, in case I butchered the Italian name. We never received them, which is not a big deal since we werent charged. The waitress was also hit and miss. We were there for almost two hours, all said. She would come check on us every few minutes and then disappear for a while. There was also a mix-up on one sons dessert. It was supposed to come with a certain cookie but they were out, so she offered a different cookie with it. She thought he just said never-mind but he said OK. Again, not a big deal but by the time we could flag her down again, my wife was almost done with her dessert. Yes, minor issues but you do somewhat expect top notch service as the price increases...
Great restaurant on Marietta Square. Wide variety of food options as well as wine options on the menu. Our server Julie was super attentive and made it an excellent experience.
We went here for the gluten free options. It was good. Not sure how but the portion really that big but for some reason we were all full. I think the Nonna in the bank put some juju on it. Service was great. I would be perfectly fine going back
Ate at Piastra for the first time this evening. Their reputation proceeded itself as for all my friends and family have been dining here for years and loving it. I have to admit, I roll my eyes whenever someone says they have a great Italian restaurant for me to try. As for most all are run of the mill and no different than the next American version of Italian food. Having had first and second generation Italian friends growing up, I know what true Italian food is like and well PIASTRA IS THAT! I must say it was even better than the hype. I had the Tagliatelle Nero di Mare….hand rolled (made in houseblack and white ribbon pasta with Little Neck Clams, Mussels, Garlic, Calabrese Chilies (not spicy just flavorful), and white wine. I typically do not prefer clams and mussels but these will blow your mind with flavor. Don’t let the wait for a table discourage you…if all the tables are taken when you come here, do yourself a favor and sit at the bar. Noah will serve your every want and need. Hands down, he’s the most attentive server/bartender on the square.
This was a real family style Italian restaurant. Felt old world but still very classy and romantic. Wonderful service SBs good
My wife and I dined here, and we were a little disappointed. The atmosphere was fine. We had the calamari and risotto balls as appetizers. The calamari was was cooked runeven, with some bites crisp and nice, but about half with soggy breading and very chewy. The risotto balls looked great, but were quite bland. I played it safe with Chicken Parmigiano. It was a very moist and well cooked, but again, very bland. There is no Parmigiano on the table, nor salt or pepper. I had to ask for some. My spaghetti was also overcooked. I am Italian, and gre up eating traditional pasta dishes, so maybe I am a bit more discriminating than most filks. My wifes black and white seafood pasta was tasty, but several of the shells were not open, so she couldnt eat those. Her cocktail was nice, and the service was fine. Food was just very disappointing. Really needs more depth of flavor.
Had a wonderfully creative and delicious meal at a Chef’s Table experience. Chef Greg, along with his mother have established a wonderful little corner of Italy on the Marietta Square. Using only locally sourced or imports from Italy the food is fresh and delightful. We stared with a beet salad. I didn’t think I liked beets but now I love them! Next up was a rich, mouthwatering morel mushroom pasta with beet green pesto. The main course was two mouthwatering veal medallions served with southern red peas. I can 100% recommend!
Cheyenne was amazing!!! She recommended the perfect wine with their four cheese lasagna and sausage. Delicious! We will definitely be back!!!
My boyfriend & I went here for dinner last night and it was amazing!! The food was delicious and there were many gluten free options. The people were very sweet, and one of the owners, Betty, came to check on us after our meal. She was the best! I highly recommend this place if you want fresh and delicious Italian food.
Mediocre food! The baked ziti was flavorLESS and dry. The Cesar salad was ok. Definitely not worth the $$$$. This place is in a great location in the square. The menu and food flavor needs to be updated. The baked ziti was called something else on the menu. It was just dry noodles, mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce. Either way, NOT GOOD!
I came here a couple times, this is my local Italian restaurant, the owner its always around asking if everything its good, very cozy restaurant to spend some quality time with family and friends, I love the new selection of gluten free pasta!!! 100% recommended.
We choose Piastra to have our rehearsal dinner for our Wedding. We (bride and groomhad dinner there when we first looked out the Stanley House, ultimately the venue for our wedding. We had another dinner with some members of the bridal after a planning meeting at the venue. We inquired at that time about having our event there, we got tour of the space and information about having a private party. We received an extensive menu of options for food and beverages and information on the time line for choices to be made. We eventually chose the Speciale Buffet with an open bar. When we came to the restaurant after our rehearsal everything was on point. If I remember correctly, it was Cheyenne who coordinated things for us that evening. She was fantastic and so attentive. Always checking to see if we were ready to go to the next part of the dinner. Always checking with guests to make sure their beverage needs we met. She kept the flow of the dinner moving forward without rushing us or having delays. Could not have asked for a better person. Everyone and I mean everyone enjoyed the meal and the dinner was a great event. We highly recommend Piastra.
The only good thing about the place was the server; she was very nice. That being said, the food was extremely over priced for basic/mediocre Italian food. The dinner portions were quite small and the desserts were upseting. I am speaking for the miniature cannoli “mislabeled” as a standard cannoli and the same goes for their chocolate cake. I will not be going here again.
I can’t speak to the pasta or other entrees, but the pizza and side of meatballs I ordered were delicious! Pizza was thin, with high quality cheeses, and flavorful. Our hostess and server were also very attentive and friendly.
I HAVE OVER 12MILLION VIEWS ON GOOGLEI went from 11M to 12Million in just 2weeks so I want to thank all the ppl who enjoy my photos. Go press Follow next to my profile picVery fresh and delicious, I will order again. I had stuffed ravioli, inside was a tomato base sauce. I don’t usually don’t like to much tomatoes in anything , but this was actually perfect. The atmosphere was pleasant and the waitress was very knowledgeable about the whole menus, because of her I made a great choice. I wish I remembered her name. Great choices but executed just OK. Dishes just lacked that bit which separates OK from great. Location is fantastic, decorum just fine. With so many restaurant choices - likely to not return.
Great home made Authentic Italian food. All sauces are made to order and pasta is made freshly. Service is excellent. My family of 6, 2 were kids, loved all of our dishes. The chicken parm was excellent! Thanks for a great evening.
I took my wife, who is gluten free, here for a Valentines Day dinner. This place is phenomenal! We started at the bar at a small live edge log "coffee table" with leather chairs and had some drinks. They had a good selection of drinks available. I went Four Roses Single Barrel, one of my favorites, and my wife had prosecco. The GF menu is expansive with almost all of the menu with a possible GF option, including the pizza. The wait staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and the GF options, even checking if it was a Celiac GF need (were not). My wife was very happy with the food, and I was very happy as well. Nice atmosphere, reasonable prices, and great food. A definite repeat on our list. So happy we found this gem.
Delicious dinner and very friendly server! They added a statement to their menu that they dont guarantee gluten free, so that was a bit nerve wracking for me but my server was great about it.
We had a fantastic anniversary dinner at Piastra tonight. Our waitress Serena was attentive and knowledgeable as well as friendly. The hostesses were very accommodating and all the staff we had contact with were helpful and friendly. We met up fabulous couple sitting next to us and had a nice conversation as well. The veal special was amazing and hoping to have it again. The Chocolate cake dessert was melt in your mouth amazing! We will definitely be back!
Great service, and the food was okay. My dish (Indentrowas flavorful. It was a giant stuffed ravioli, but seemed to be short on the stuffing. The servings didnt seem to justify the price.
Overpriced!!!Nothing really special for the amount of money we paid, the dishes were plain, not flavor.Really bad gelato too fatty. The waitress was so nice, friendly staff but medium food.
Friday was perfect for sitting on the patio. Jessica took great care of us! We had the mussels appetizer. So good! Then we all 4 ordered something different. Every one of us were pleased with the dish we chose. Looking forward to coming back to this little gem! Thanks for the wonderful Friday meal and family time!
I’m so glad I stumbled upon this place. Not literally stumbled but I happened upon it and was thrilled that I did. I’m in the area while working and walked in about 20 minutes before closing. This was not my intention but I was greeted by friendly faces and they were happy to seat me. I was by myself so I grabbed a seat at the bar and asked the young man that seated me for his recommendation. He was quick to say the Rigatoni and so I went with it. Wow!!!Great amount of spice, fennel sausage made in house, and the sauce was perfectly crafted. I’m so glad I didn’t look at the menu and just went with the recommendation. I also had the Banana Panacotta and was not disappointed at all. I tried that due to the chef/owner suggesting it and once again I’m glad he did. Overall it was a fantastic meal, fantastic staff, and a place I must return to. Skip the large Italian places and go check this gem out. You’ll be glad. I promise.
Terrible experience and the owner is a nightmare. This is how my food looked. Shouldve just went to Johnny’s Pizza smh. Supposedly bruschetta, unauthentic margarita pizza & some dry fettuccine. Welcome to Piastra!!! Upset I wasted my money here. The owner wouldn’t even redeem hisself until I took my Yelp review down. Terrible customer service & food. How is this place 4 stars???
Place is really cozy, it has both indoor and outdoor seating. We stopped by for Sunday night dinner. I ordered chicken Parm and hubby ordered rigatoni. Rigatoni is really good and delicious. Chicken Parma is good but I felt little bland nevertheless it is classic so no complaints. Service was great too.
Love the place!!! Food is always amassing and not too crowded. Food is always fresh great staff. Went for a belated birthday dinner I had a wonderful time. Seeing chef Greg is always a good time. Got my boyfriend hooked to Piastra we so will be back.
I have tried Piastra on three different occasions and for each meal too! The restaurant is a bit larger than it looks from the outside, and it has a nice bar room next to the dining area. Everytime I have been the wait staff has been extremely friendly and helpful. If you want to save a little money, I would recommend going at brunch or lunch. There is more variety in what you can order, but they do not serve all of their pasta dishes. For brunch, I had their ciabatta French toast. It was coated in crispy cereal giving it a unique texture. At lunch, I had the pollo con pesto panini which was a nice refreshing sandwich. And at dinner, I had the tagliatelle vongole. This pasta dish was in a lighter white wine and garlic sauce served with clams. Dinner is also served with fresh baked bread and toast. Personally this is not my go to Italian restaurant, but I definitely recommend it and plan to visit again.
This is a phenomenal restaurant. Ive been here twice, and both times the servers have been extremely friendly and helpful. They are really passionate about the food and the restaurant, and its great going somewhere where the staff is so excited about the food. Everything (or at least, mostly everythingis homemade from scratch in the restaurant, and every dish Ive had (including the breadis awesome. The owner is always there monitoring everything and helping the staff, and even came around to say hi to us. This is exactly how a restaurant is supposed to be ran, and I will definitely be back. Highly recommended if youre ever in the area (and even if youre not - its worth it)!
From a professional reviewers standpoint the ingredients used in the products are of quality But, The production of the food and utilization of the products is conducted very poorly. The majority of the food is bland and has little or no season and taste. If you dine at this restaurant be prepared to wait onwards of 20 minutes for an appetizer and/or salad! And then be prepared to wait onwards of 45 minutes to an hour from the time you are seated to get your entree. The famous flavorful Italian sauce is NOT found at this restaurant and the taste is of tomatoe puree without a drop of heartful seasoning. The meat at this facility is bland and also poorly seasoned. The only thing you may find is a decent presentation of the food but not the quality. The cost of a 2 person dinner will leave you with ATLEAST a 50$ charge or more. The head chef seems to seek perfection and fails at it. The decor at this restaurant looks dated and the flooring looks of the 1980s. When you are sat down at your table, you are given water out of The hand WASHING sink. Not only is this unsanitary, but who knows what chemicals have been in that sink. The server Dane is professional, If you do choose to spend onwards of 100$ here at this flavorless establishment, please ask for Dane. This establishment qualifies to be on Kitchen Nightmares. Edit : this was a professional review. Even the owner showed his arrogance with his reply of a true critique of the quality of food. Seeing as I lived and breathed It. The proof is in the pudding. Professionalism please.
