Phonheuang Cafe in Louangphrabang
Description
Privilege
Like all the other reviews say, this place is fantastic. The spring roll platter one of the best meals I had in Laos. Absolutely delicious
MoreI had the vegetarian spring roll platter for lunch and it had an abundance of herbs and salad to make little lettuce leaf cups. Best meal Ive had in Laos. 🤌
MoreVery delicious food with good price. Menu has lesser choices than 2 years ago. Garlic pork rice is really recommended.
MoreBest restaurant in Luang Prabang!!!We went to both fancy restaurants and local places, this is hands down our favorite spot in town!!! It’s a small but very welcoming family business, nice terrace and amazingly fresh and nice food. The menu is quite simple, but we loved the spring rolls and the Bo bun!We liked it so much that we came back for our last lunch before leaving Luang Prabang.
MoreFantastic local food for cheaper than anywhere else in the area! The staff really cares, you will have a good experience here!
MoreNice little place thats not crowded and probably some of the best food Ive had in Luang prabang!
More6 stars. This restaurant is an amazing find. Fresh food. Cute setting. Very well priced. Large portions. Lovely staff
MoreSeriously the best restaurant we ate since we travel through SEA. We ate here 4 nights in a row as it was so delicious that we just didnt want to try something else. Its also cheap, so best value for money. Really.Try the spring rolls with vegetables! unfortunately no one explains how to eat it so this is how it goes: you get a plate with cutted fried spring rolls, noodles, spring onion and lemongrass PLUS a huge basket of fresh lettuce and herbs (mint, Thai basil, coriander). Now you wrap your own "roll in a roll". Take a lettuce leaf, put some noodle, spring roll, lots of herbs and whatever you like in the middle and wrap it. Dunk it into the dip with peanuts and ENJOY! So delicious!!!All the other dishes we had (Phad Thai, fresh spring rolls, Lao Saladwere amazing as well. The only dish we didnt like was "drunken noodle", but thats just about the dish, so not there fault.
MoreVery cute cafe / restaurant with great food, reasonable prices and lovely staff! Im here my second evening and ordered exactly the same (curry is recommended), but all the dishes I saw look great. Its also quiet and off the busy road, I will definitely come again.
MoreThis is one of the best places in town, the food is amazing, the restaurant has a lovely home-y atmosphere, and Khaek is the most wonderful business owner in town. Must eat if you visit Luang Prabang. I recomend the Bo bun with tofu (Im not vegetarianand it comes with a fried spring role.
MoreThis restaurant is amazing. Simple, delicious food that is really well seasoned. The service is fast and friendly, and the prices are incredibly fair. Highly recommend if you are in the area.
MoreDelicious spring rolls come with basket of vegetables. Big portion with reasonable price. Worth to come again.
MoreWell priced and a really nice restaurant. I had the aubergine stir fry as Im veggie, it was nice but a little plain. My partner really enjoyed his meal and wanted to come back.
MoreA hidden gem in Luang Prabang. The Bo Bun is hands down the best meal I had in Laos. I went back multiple times for it. Wish I had known sooner so I could have tried it one more time. Prices are very reasonable and staff are friendly. Very clean also.
MoreLovely place food, good prices and very good quality. The ingredients are fresh and the staff is very friendly. Will definitely come back
MoreAmazing food, very clean, well presented, very tasty, and great value. This is becoming my favorite spot in LP!
MoreThe food here is absolutely amazing and sooo fresh. The fried spring rolls are a must try, an experience as well as a meal as you put them together with fresh herbs, lettuce, noodles and peanut sauce. Incredibly well priced too!
MoreOur favorite restaurant during our time in Lung Prabang! So cheap and delicious homemade Lao dishes. Small, quiet, friendly environment. Outside seating only. We went for lunch and then back for dinner in the same day because it was so good!
MoreA real gem off the beaten path. We had visited this eatery on Sunday, but they were closed. So when we moved to a hotel nearby, we decided to try again. And we were glad we did. The food is fresh and amazing. We had the fresh Vietnamese spring rolls, and the vegetables were fresh and good and went great with the peanut sauce. My bo bun noodles with chicken came with a deep fried spring roll, which was also tasty. My wife ordered the basil with pork rice. She said it looked good and tasted okay. The ladies running the store were kind enough to turn on two fans for us.
MoreThis place is a little out of the way, even if youre in the old town area. Nonetheless, making the journey here is worth it. The food is affordable and delicious. I had the crispy river weed (15k). There were quite a number of pieces. I felt that it was too salty on its own. It would be good if you have this with some rice or noodles. I also had the bo bun. This is a popular Vietnamese noodle dish. There are slices of boiled beef, and a spring roll with white noodles. Peanuts are drizzled on top of this dish. Eating this dish made me think about the time I was in Hanoi.Edit: I came by on a Sunday afternoon but they were closed.
MoreNice little eatery tucked away in a quiet corner. Loved the rice roll and noodles.
MoreWe had a really delicious meal here. The fresh spring rolls were the best Ive had, and our mains of stir fried eggplant and a vegetarian penang curry were very good. These each came with rice and the portions were quite large - one dish each plus the starter filled us up. For two mains with rice, a starter and two large beers it was around 90,000 kip, so very good value. We ate here before going to the Lao storytelling theatre which is just next door.
MoreUnbelievable quality great prices. Nice location. Many Vietnamese dishes. Excellent quality wonderful taste. Good portions. Can recommend to all. Spot on.
MoreTerrific little place right on the corner. Awesome mocha coffee shakes!
Simple, but delicious food. Standard Southeast Asian plate size, so you might still be hungry after if. Also the menu is pretty small, but I guess they rather follow the "quality over quantity" line.Price for a beer and bowl of food: 30.000 Kip.Staff is a little bored and watched her phone most of the time.
MoreDelirious food and staff speaks English.Bathroom was clean. We ordered a lot of food but i was too busy to eat so i didn’t get to take pictures of all the dishes that we ordered Lol . I’d love to come here again and will going to miss food from here.
MoreVery tasty Bo Bun, and just 20,000 kip! Cosy restaurant in a calm neighbourhood. Service was also good.
MoreGreat food, must try chicken with coconut source. Cheap price and cold beer 👌
I was really surprised by this humble joint. It doesn’t look like much, but they serve delicious food with low prices. We were pleased by each dish, and the portions are very generous.
MoreIt pains me to leave this review as my chicken Penang curry was delicious. I had felt that the chicken seemed off at time of eating. Boy did I know about it that night and the next morning!I hadn’t eaten much that day so I can be fairly sure the cause was my food here... sadly.
MoreIn my humble opinion the best place to eat in LP. Cheap prices (less than 20k per dishand delicious. Feels like home cooking, total comfort food.My favorite is the "egg exploded on rice w/ pork". Recommended!!
MoreAmazing food! This place has 5 star reviews for a reason.Ordered the fried rice noodle with chicken. It was delicious. Very different to many other place. It was big wide sheets of rice noodle with egg on top with a slight crisp to the edges. With chicken and veg on top. I would definitely recommend this dish.I will be returning for more!
MoreThis small cosy restaurant serves some great Laotian, Thai and Vietnamese food at reasonable prices. We had Larb, Phad Thai and spring roll set and we thoroughly enjoyed it. One of the staff taught us how to wrap the spring rolls and other herbs with a leaf and dip in the sauce. So far the best Laotian meal we have tried.
MoreExcellent place - I’ll be back for sure! The Panama Chicken Curry tasted great and the Beerlao went down well with it 👌🏽
MoreGreat place for food in Luang Prabang. It is cozy with only few tables, cheap and the food especially bo bun is great!Nothing more to say. Went here 3 times and always ate good and had good service. Thanks!
MoreDelicious dinner, spotless & comfortable place, and decent price.
Absolutely great food at unbeatable prices! Try the fried spring rolls, they are delicious, as well as the penaeng curry. We paid 92000 kip (around 9 eurofor fried spring rolls, fresh spring rolls, large beer, penaeng curry and basil chicken. No need to go anywhere else!
MoreAbsolutely amazing little cafe - ate here 3 times in two days when I usually say never go back. Fresh rolls were divine, with accompanying peanut sauce, drool. Panang chicken curry was my favourite - would like an option to spice it up a bit more, but didn’t actually ask. Staff are lovey and it’s such good value. Go, go, go!
MoreAbsolutely amazing food. Good value for money too.
Love the huge amount of fresh herbs that come with the fried spring roll. The fresh spring roll is delicious too. Seating is limited and food do come out slow. So dont go there if you are super starving or go early. Highly recommend.
MoreWe ended up eating here 4 times during our stay in LP. The Bo Bun was my favorite as well as the spring rolls. Her peanut sauce is not to be missed. Everything is under 30k which is very reasonable for the area. Also had the soup when I was sick and it made me better. Great food and local vibe.
MoreExcellent short menu of great tasting (mainly noodledishes. Really fresh and good value with most around 20,000 Kip. The Bo Bun is brilliant as is the Sukiyaki. Run by lovely people too!
MoreI found it quite easy to find inexpensive / good value food for breakfast and lunch, but at dinner time Id be wandering around with sticker shock, yearning for yummy food.Phonheuang was one of the few places I found that was super tasty and good value. Great food -- the bo bun and pad thai were especially great. I was traveling solo and there was a comfortable bar for me to sit and read and not feel awkward taking up a whole table. The server was fantastic, and really friendly -- I enjoyed our brief chats, and her recommendations were always spot on.Cant recommend this place more -- dont miss it.
MoreThe bun bo is so amazing and fresh, in my opinion it was the best dish I tasted during 4 days in Luang Prabang visiting the top rated restaurants. Fresh spring rolls and chicken curry also excellent. I didnt like their chicken "lard" which should have been written as "Laab". It tasted and smelled a bit funky, but I felt no ill after effects.
MoreIn my opinion best place in luang prabang. Definitely try bo bun, my favorite dish there.
MoreGreat value for money and fantastic, tasty food. We’ve been there four times already and will go back again. Have tried many other restaurants in Luang Prabang but this is my favourite. I recommend the Spring Rolls with Vegetables and the Bo Bun.
MoreAmazing restaurant. The food is the most delicious we had in 6 days in Luang Prabang. Also very cheap.
MoreQuiet, relaxed atmosphere situated off the main road, but easy to find. The food was tasty and reasonable priced, tried the pad Thai and loved it, goes great with beer Lao. The staff were friendly and helpful.Would recommend going for a casual eat.
MoreYummy food at okay prices. Prices are good and the food delicious. We had fried rice, Thai basil pork rice, and the fresh spring rolls. I give all 3 dishes the thumbs up!Update: This spot became our daily haunt. We visited each day as we found the food and the prices good. The Bo Bun is my personal favourite! I had that 3 days in a row.
MoreNice place away from main street - all local cuisine. If you are looking for some no frills restaurant, this is it. Food was very nice. Try the Lao steak with vegetables.
