Pho Reading - Vietnamese restaurant in Reading, United Kingdom
the wings were really well seasoned, absolutely recommended. The rice dish was alright but the spicy peppers dried up the rice so it’s was chewy. We ordered the classic mojito. Loved it. Not too sweet as well.staff were nice. Brought out everything on time.Overall the only issue was the appearance of the restaurant. The wooden theme looked the like the wood was decaying. The sauces being left out in the table is unhygienic as there were flies around the restaurant.
Pho is a lovely restaurant with a great atmosphere - the food is great, with plenty of flavour and fresh ingredients. The food is slightly overpriced, but nice none the less! I ordered the prawn summer rolls and chicken cà-ri, which I definitely recommend.
Staff excellent very friendly and attentive, food was above average not brilliant but acceptable.
Superb Vietnamese food, even though this is a well known chain the restaurant feels warm, inviting and the staff are excellent. This is a favourite place of many of my friends too.
Dont go to this place. I was a regular customer until tonight. Pity I really loved the food I will neve go back again.. I got the Pho with prawn and complaint because I had only 4 prawns inside my soup. Apparently this is normal!!!Saving money on the back of customer is disgusting. Note they are also cashless and do not accept cash.
Pho in Reading used to be OK but now they do not take legal tender (cash). Bank card payments only. This alone is enough to make me never return. However, even the main courses are now like starters. If you want to get a good feed here, buy 3 main courses for yourself and you might feel like you had ONE good meal. I will be avoiding at all costs from now on. I was a regular customer up until now. Sad to see a good business go down the drain.
Amazing food, great service. Really enjoyed this place. Definitely worth a try. The honey and ginger ice-cream was a surprisingly good discovery
The dinner was amazing! The noodles and the banana fritters are something out of this planet. Thank you!
Healthy grub, amazing service. So good to have this outside of London and in Reading. Gluten free haven, coeliac accredited. 💥
Im vegan. The food choices were very good. Very nice glass of Rose too.Would recommend 100% to all whether vegan or not :)
Probably my favourite food in Reading. Hot and spicy soups are great, and so are the "regular" soups with all the extras added in (fish sauce, chilli, garlic). The fresh chicken salad is also very nice, and all of the options are surprisingly healthy. The juices are tasty and the jasmine tea is very refreshing. Would recommend to anyone.
The quality of the food and the service is very good, we thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The lady was super friendly and made recommendations and her favourite dishes. My loss of star comes from the over priced menu, the food is a bit too expensive given portions, despite the quality its still mostly noodles etc and a low ratio of meat for the cost.
Went for a nice dinner out last weekend.. ordered chicken wings (starters& wok fried rice with chicken and dried shrimp (main), sparkling water and a cocktail. Very disappointed with the chicken taste, chicken was not chewable at all.. very hard texture, looked like it came out from the microwave. A woman taking orders went to speak to the chef in the kitchen and reported that they do not have a microwave in the Restaurant also offered us a second plate for the chicken wings. Both plates were almost full as we couldn’t eat them. Lastly, the lady apologized to us and offered a 50% discount and had removed the service charge. The receipt came however discount was not correct (should have been £14.33). Receipt photos have been attached..
Wow love this place, went for the curry beef brisket and Hanoi beer. Taste!!! Great staff, nice vibes
Simply wonderful. The food here is sublime. Very high quality Vietnamese food which would be as well received in London or Hanoi. The service is wonderful; up beat, interested and attentive staff literally churn out the food at pace. Amazingly they handle a full restaurant and take-away at the same time. The only thing they could improve on is the drinks service but otherwise this place is a gem.
The food is good but a bit over-priced since its a chain restaurant. The ingredients for the pho are fresh and the soup is good but not as rich as other smaller shops. I love Vietnamese food but if I had to choose between a smaller restaurant and this Id go with the other one probably. The time I visitted was also very full but overall good.
The highlight for us was meeting an employee called Charlie. She assisted twice and is the epitome of excellent customer service; her exuberance lit up the room, no ask was too much and she was adept at making conversation. Me and my friend ordered Pho, x2 spring rolls (amazing!!!and I am vegetarian and chose THIS (soy proteinchicken noodles. I couldnt stomach the dish as there was little veg and the chicken flavour was overwhelming, though I added sauces. This is a risk I took by ordering fake meat and we laughed with Charlie that its actually a compliment!! I would come back simply on the level of service I received from all staff/assets to this place. A happy & refreshing experience 😍
New experience. Food was good, staff were very helpful and gave good advice around the types of dishes. Would go again.
Looking for fresh ingredients, mouth watering soup (try Pho special soup), wanted freshly prepared mango salad with the most exotic taste, go no further than (mango salad), plus a whole range of delicious menu more than what meets the eye & fills your tummy 😋Highly recommended 🍲🍜
Great restaurant, staff are always friendly and attentive. The food is delicious and the speed of service is prompt. Never had a bad meal and have eaten here a lot.
Travelled all over Vietnam over the last 20 years and even met my wife there. The Vietnamese spring rolls are about right but instead of Pho I tried the rice for a change but was too salty and far too spicy for Vietnamese. The egg was burnt, the rice too dry and overcooked as with the chicken. Service was good. No Tiger beer as was the only beer in Vietnam originally. I miss the small plastic chairs, granny cooking and sandbags. It was OK but wouldn’t survive in Viet Nam.
Lovely attentive service made by Charlie, all selection s suggested arrived fast, well presented and delicious 😁, we really enjoyed 😉.We are regulars in London, a bit cheaper here I can say, quality is better here, the soup had a different taste and the rice bol much bigger.Thank you Charlie, lovely to meet you. Will be back next year!
Got a takeaway last night and was looking forward to the yummy peanut sauce with the crispy vegetable rolls. Unfortunately, the wrong sauce was sent. Crispy veg rolls without dip are not good
Happy to enjoy Vietnam meal here! Nice service and food quality. I will recommend friends to try this restaurant!
Popped in for a bite to eat on a Thursday evening and the place was buzzing, staff were great, excellent service and superb value, helpful advice on what to choose, drinks menu was perfect and the cuisine is light and full of flavour, 1st visit for us as a family, but will definitely be revisiting, thank you everyone...
I came here a week ago with a friend. We had been past it before and thought it would be nice to try somewhere different. We absolutely loved it : food was of high quality, service was brilliant and the staff were friendly and welcoming :We will definitely return
Went to Pho for a work social lunch and the service for all 14 of us was absolutely brilliant. The manager was super helpful, knowledgeable and up-beat. The food was delicious and came in good time and the overall atmosphere was lovely too! Would definitely visit again!
Very nice restaurant, good food, good vibe
Great service whenever I dine in here. Comfort food!
So disappointing. The only good thing there was the fried rice. Asked for no onions on our soups, they all came with onions. Excuse was that it was cooked for eight hours in advance, those onions were fresh, not cooked. The broth was bland and the toppings overcooked. To top it up our fresh garnishes were definitely not fresh, rotten coriander doesnt quite qualify. So disappointing
Went there today with my two sons. We all had a soup dish and food was quick to arrive, super tasty, light and full of fresh flavour. Great to have so many vegan choices on the menu too 😋
First time of visiting Pho, and we took our 3 kids (aged from 10 to 14). It was fantastic. We had a range from fried noodles, broth to a curry. All the food was fresh and flavoursome. Its now on our list as a restaurant to go to when we are out and about in Reading. Staff were friendly and provided good customer service. Definitely worth a visit.
Insipid tasteless bland food in exchange for exorbitant prices. Whos fooling whom..such a disgrace...Pushy and intrusive staff who seem to have no clue of customer service standards. They seemed to be in a hurry to clear our plates and show us the door. Horrible disgusting experience. Overall a zero star and NEVER AGAIN
I have experienced world class Pho beef noodle soup in Asia, hence I can give this outfit only three stars. Nevertheless, the Beef Pho soup I was served at this Pho restaurant tasted okay, was satisfying to my stomach, and I gobbled up the whole bowl. The restaurant is spacious, wasn’t too busy, but is rather unfashionable.
Service was good. Enjoyed my meal too. Had a rice with spicy curry soup which tested like peanut soup, but I did like it though. If you are looking for a cool Vietnamese restaurant in Reading, I will recommend you check it out. It is located at the town centre too. Staff was really friendly too
Lovely food with several vegan options. Staff were polite and service was very fast.
Pho is a beautiful restaurant with a lovely atmosphere especially with a charming waiter whose name is Apostolos. My accomplice and myself sat down to a wonderful meal of Vietnamese cuisine. My friend said to her a vegan meal was fragrant and yummy. To Go with her wonderful personality. Myself had the hot and spicy beef slow cooked brisket noodles and they were definitely hot and spicy. My last point to make is that this restaurant is very friendly and nice and warming.
Great place both for takeaway and eat in. When I don’t want to cook but I want to eat something healthy, this is my go to place. Food always tastes fresh, light and they have loads of gluten free options. My personal favourite is the garlic steak pho with prawn summer rolls. The chicken fried rice is also really good though quite spicy. Would recommend!
Busy Asian restaurants, staff very friendly and helpful, food is good special in this small town, if I’m local would be a regular
Average noodle soups without enough proteins nor flavour. I would add more meat/tofu/vegan protein to the main courses. Some ingredients were of very good quality and the staff was quite friendly. Great Beaver Town 🍻.
Wow! What a fantastic vibe - been to Pho on couple of occasions but this town centre location is ideal and a very pleasant experience from start to finish, food and drinks were as efficient as they were fragrant, left feeling super healthy and clean — excellent tastes and spices; beef broth soup and the crispy squid was delicious, Thankyou
The atmosphere is enjoyable and the service is great too, everyone’s really nice. The food is pretty good too, I recommend the Vietnamese pancakes (best thing I ateand I also took the chicken curry which wasn’t too bad either.
Nice ambience. This is first time I experienced vietnamese food, and I really enjoyed it. Staffs are good, helping. Also they well maintained the guidelines during covid pandemic.Special recommendation- herbal tea. Also they are serving food in authentic vietnamese style, like cutlery, bowls etc, which I loved.Their location is also good, near market place.
Lovely Vietnamese food, enjoyed with family. Has a good sitting area. Staff very friendly and helped us to choose from the Menu, explained how it is cooked and what ingredients are used. Staff was following the governments Covid guidelines.
Great experience! The staff are very polite, welcoming and friendly. The decor is very nice with solid wood, wicker lamp shades and steet art style paintings of a Vietnamese village. The food was filling, warming and well presented. I could taste how fresh the ingredients are and the flavours were perfectly balanced!Overall, the food was delicious and all of the staff made our visit an enjoyable one!
Outstanding, authentic Vietnamese food!I went to Pho with my wife and another couple with their 10 year old. The menu is quite authentic Vietnamese food, which means if you have a seafood/shellfish food allergy (as I door a peanut allergy you may not be able to have your first or second choice on the menu. However, the staff is very studious about food allergies, asking everyone at the table prior to us ordering. I have a severe shellfish allergy and the server went back and forth to the kitchen to check if certain dishes contained any allergens and even if there could be a cross-contamination issue, which there was with the spring rolls. The meals were unbelievably flavourful and colourful, and the portion size was very large. All of us left quite full and very happy with our choice to eat at Pho. We will return soon.
Pho Vietnamese food was a such a brilliant experience. The vibe is buzzing and this is backed up by the lovely staff. The excellent service provided adds to the dining experience.
This place is the hidden jewel of Reading. Superb customer service mixed with a friendly, relaxed atmosphere thats difficult to match.Let none of that distract you from the star of the show though... the food. Its simply amazing. The beef in betel leaf (photois an absolute must.Go there eat, trust me youll be going back for more.
Interesting and worth a visit, staff were great and overall I enjoyed the food. Lotus Sprout starter was a little bland and I purposely picked a main without coriander (cant stand itthe herbs and veggies came on the side which is a great idea but everything tasted of coriander still.
Nice modern restaurant with good vibes. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable with the menu (you can tell they have been trained well). Went when it just opened up, so it was pretty hyped and busy then.Food was tasty offering wide range of choice and the drinks complimented the variety well. Prices are reasonable and would recommend to try at least once to see if it is for you.
