Philippine Gateway Hotel in Surigao

Hotel is kind of old but ok for short stay. Booked a room facing the main road but glass windows are too thin to be noise proof room so expect noise in your room at night.

I stay for two night at the hotels, the people are gene rally pleasant except the workers in house keeping should learn their job a little more thoughra listened the feedback to help the hot And the dining no excuse for cold food in the morning need to turn on their Biemary. And put more option. I am not particularly fussy. Above all the hotel is have a comfy bed and the staff are all friendly and very convenience in city Centre look around Surigao city.

A nice hotel located at the major intersection of the city. It has accomodating staff and also a parking lot. They also offer variety of foods.

I give this hotel a 5 star for keeping up with thia difficult time of pandemic and then the devastation of typhoon Odette. Its non perfectly back to normal (yetbut the service is decent enough. A very good place to stay when youre in the city.

Nice hotel, although there are still some on going repairs due to the typhoon. I just find their room rate unreasonable-all rooms (deluxe-suiteare only good for 2 person. Additional person will be charged 500 each. We stayed in their suite room and it could definitely accommodate 4 persons comfortably.

Its convenient with ample parking space with free breakfast, swimming pool, wifi & room service with fee, restaurant, multiple function hall...the staff are nice & courteous...overall, your stay is pleasant...

The toilet is dirty. Shower drain is clogged up and smelly. The towels they provided us, has multiple holes. This hotel is in a sorry state. We dine in their restaurant and we were met by flies. So sad :(I can keep on going but I don’t want to waste my time anymore.Staff members are kind though and helpful the reason I gave 1 star

Comfortable but I would say the service was not really good. We were served with hot dogs and asked to replace it coz we dont eat pork meat but instead of being polite he automatically refused our request.Next time you have to ask your customers/ patrons if they Christians, Muslims or Seventh Day Adventist. Im addressing this to the front desk you have to ask their religions.

Good place for events and Provincial meetings in Surigao city

Nice big hotel but i could not get a room at 12 noon time as they told me that their SYSTEM was down and they cannot see what rooms are available ! they promised to text me as soon their computer system working again but i never received a text from them !

Theyre still undergoing renovations and repairs from the recent calamities. Staff was friendly and helpful and they make do with the little they currently offer.

I rate it 3 star since they are trying to restore the hotel because of typhoon

Best breakfast buffet with comfy rooms

Considering the devastation brought about by typhoon odette, the hotel was able to bounce back to its operations. The food served is exceptional. Although some rooms dont have water heater, they will provide water heater and bucket.

The hotel needs Upgrade/Renovation.. Swimmingpool is abandone, broken tiles on the hallway, common toilet on the 1st floor not design properly. People could see youre private parts. Dnt have hot shower also on the room. I hope they can improve.

Its clean but quite expensive, u cant even borrow the utensils for free u need to pay to rent it even if you will use it in the room

Not worthy for the price we paid for the room. Upon check in they asked us what we want for bfast and oh boy during bfast they even forget our order, we had to go and ask for bfast and again they forgot to serve, we had to follow up. We even waited for the fruit to be served, but naaah waley jpon! and eto malupet upon check out they were asking where did we put the towel and so we told them that its just in the closet and in the shower. The housekeeper said over the phone thats its nowhere to be found so the front desk asked us to go upstairs and check. In the room we looked for it bec the other towel isnt in the closet and we are sure of it that we did put it there bcos we used it. And luckily were tall enough to see above the closet. We looked up and saw the towel and looks like it was intentionally put there. We got it and gave to the room attendant and she just said that "aw naa ra diay na". The thing is, hiding something just for the guest to pay extra is never okay. I dont know if thats the thing of the hotel or the attendant, but thank you and were not going back to the establishment again.Thank you.

Our first time here. Even the place is quite old, the staff is more than happy to welcome us. I would also commend Ms Mikaela (front deskfor the warm welcome and patience she extended and Maam Maris for the considerations she gave for our complimentary breakfast. Thank you. The aircon is not centralized but the hotel is okay. I liked their resto and fruit overload.

Rooms are clean and the staff maintain safety protocol to be alwsys covid-19 free .

Being new to Surigao City, I never expected this hotel to have a lot of function rooms. But we had our Christmas party in its largest function room and we had a great and funsome night of dining and Christmas presentation!

One of the oldest hotel in Surigao City. As of the moment renovation is on going an expect the modern hotel.

It’s old, saw a dead baby cockroach in the tub but aircon is working and bed is comfy

Absolutely quiet and peaceful place.. so looking forward to have those rooms with balconies and the lot beyond the pool filled with pines, coconuts and fruit trees! 🙂🙂

Just -1 star since during our days of stay, theres a construction noise every evening-overnight.Also.. Their warm water lines are still under repair.

Nice place to stay while in Surigao. Food served during our event was yummy. Breakfast choices are okay too. Rooms are tidy but felt old.

Excellent staff. Complete amenities, with flat screen TV, Air Conditioned room, fridge with mini freezer, water heater and cup for coffee and service water available upon request. Very slow Wifi connection, the ping on average is 700ms.

Here at Manjagao Restaurant, Philippine Gateway. The place was nice and cool, but lack of staff. Because of this the tables are left dirty, no bussing out was made and the waiter ask us to write our order in a piece of paper, that is shocking.

1-star is not really my rating but since you cannot write a review without rating it with stars itll have to do. Room 326 is old, the floor is dirty like you can see the pool of stain in the carpet, wifi is poor, and certainly not worth the price paid, the staff are not properly trained nor do they have the decency and politeness in talking to guests, plus there were no prior notice as to the pools availability. What a pity, I expected more from this 2-star hotel.

Stayed in tavern and gateway so i can compare. Gateway Room 229 is really old. Bathroom tiles are chipped. Bathroom door bottom area is rotting. Mattress is 5 inches thin. Someone tried to enter my room at 6am. Do not eat in their restaurant if hungry. Theyve mastered the art of SLOW food. Took an hour to get served when the place was 1/3 full during lunch. Took 1.5 hours to get chicken wings when it was full at night. On the bright side the aircon is very good. Id say the food is decent and edible. Locals love this place.The two stars is for the lobby staff. Very courteous and informative.Id stay in the tavern when i come back to surigao city.

Beautiful big modern rooms. Wonderful beds Very clean also although the hotel has a big problem with insects. Nothing to be afraid of and won’t harm you but we had dozens in the room.Why only two stars? Not a good price quality. If you pay 2000 pesos or (a lotmore you expect a good breakfast (this was really mediocre and terribly salty.... wow it was as if all the dishes had laid in a pile of saltand the WiFi was really slow. I could just sent a text message but that’s it.Btw... strangely enough was the food we ordered in the evening quite tasty and good....If the hotel work on the internet and quality of food it could easily become 3 or even 4 stars.

Ate at their restaurant. The food was very savory and the serving sizes were decent. Though you’d have to wait a long time for your order to be served. One food came after the other at 10-15 min intervals.

The waiter seems not focused. We told him we are 5 person but provided us only 4 plates and silverwares. The water is taking too long when it should already be the first to be served. We already finished eating what we order but still no water. We order only water instead of juices cause we expect water will be delivered shortly than juices, yet "nabulunan na kami wala pading tubig".

Pool was closed. Restaurant was slow and very expensive, a bacon cheeseburger was 11 USD. The bacon cost 8 USD as a side... and had only 3 slices of bacon.

Very disappointed.Booked and paid for a 5 person room.Arrived to find 2 cups and 2 towels.After enquiries as to why, informed that extra towels were going to be 60PHP... more than a budget room would cost elsewhere.And 35PHP for extra satchels of coffee and Sugar....An absolute joke!!

The very specific room we stayed in was very cozy. Cable Tv, wifi connection, hot and cold bath. All you need in a place away from home.

Very dated hotel in various stages of disrepair. No hot water, pool was dirty. One of the only games in town so you get what you get. Only upside was that the breakfast was ok.

Good breakfast but the coffee maker is very small only good for 5 cups. So you have to wait again for the next boil. Wifi is very slow and most of the time can not connect. But overall, the staff are friendly and proffesional, accomodation is nice and clean and the location is superb.

The place is nice but old. They were renovating when we visited. The rooms are big. Service was excellent. Also the food was great.

Was here for 10days for my immersion with my classmates. I witnessed their behind the scenes service and it was professionally done. The food, laundry, silverware everything is done clean. And the staffs treated us politely and take a good care of us.For the Guests. Pls treat the staffs like how you are treated by them. Everyone makes mistakes. And when you are on a buffet pls dont complain if you think you were given a small amount of food , we do this because we care for everyone in the room specially those who have not taken the buffet yet. You can always return anytime if you finished your plate or not yet satisfied. While you are eating probably the waiters who serve you has never eaten yet. Staffs dont get free meals, they only do if theres a function that has atleast 500pax.Giving it 4stars so the whole review wont sound totally biased 😉

I like to stay here because its central to the Lipata Ferry, Gaisano, Bus terminal and also for the city ( 7 pesos, by Trike The other reason why I like the place is because its the only hotel in Surigao that has a large swimming pool. However its the staff that let this place down and its so sad ! Housekeeping in particular, I would really like to get in there and work some magic on the place because it has all the facilities, but well trained staff

My wife and I,stayed at the gateway hotel in surigao and have to say it was very enjoyable,the staff were so very polite and the the girls at the reception was just awesome,the room we had was very very clean and the bed was so very comfortable,as well as the staff in the restaurant,as we ate there on many occasions,,,have to say that my wife and I will be back,,, keep up the good work,thank you so very much

Classic Lounge, Good Food, Grandiose Ball Venue, Small pool though, but events are manageable. We had our Alumni Homecoming here twice, and its nice! We had all the venues packed!
