Such a beautiful place to visit, awesome views from the top
Very nice and well preserved castle! Its worthy of visiting! Going up might be a little tiring but the view is worth it! Inside the castle there is a very nice cafe/tavern which you can sit and enjoy a drink or food. The location is majestic and the view spectacular! Restaurant allows photo everywhere, nobody will bother you!
Beautiful place with an amazing view and a very pleasant coffee shop on top
Nice view, nice castle
Castle Petrela is an interesting tourist attraction and very beautiful place to watch sunset, really! Incredible panoramic view over Tirana and green hills is smth you must see yourself and it cant be transmitted by any photo. The way to get up to the Castle from the parking is a bit difficult and requires comfortable shoes, but it takes just several minutes until the top. There is an unusual restaurant with traditional Albanian food, so I would suggest to go there for dinner or at least to enjoy some desserts and drinks. Service is quite good, waiters are always very polite, food is delicious, always fresh and everything is quite clean and tidy.Ive been there actually many times over the years and each time visiting this place brings me only pleasant emotions, so I would like to share my experience with others. Please enjoy too! 😉
It is nice to have a walk there in the afternoon. You get a nice view of Tirana and maybe a nice sunset.
Magnificent view at the top
Amazing place for the pictures.
Went there when it was raining, such a good atmosphere under the Thunderstorm, the workers are very friendly.
Great place
Part of Albanian history, its well designed and u can find a restaurant inside the castle.Perfect view of Tirana
Very attractive but not well managed by the authorities
Astonishing view from the top!!You can see all the city of Tirana from up there. Also you have a restaurant for dining there. The staff was kind ,but not fast at all. Its alright,no problem.

It’s amazing castle not big but the view is awesome there is restaurant over there they didn’t speak English it’s ok
The castle is cool and worth a short visit. There is no entry fee, but there is also no history to read. Supposedly there is a restaurant but it wasn’t open on Friday at 1pm, so I’m not sure how that works. But you can buy bottled drinks. It’s more of castle ruins that have been restored a bit.
Its a small beautuful stronghold - deffinitely worth seeing. If you like castles like us, you will love it because of the romantic atmosphere of this place. Panorama is excelent and sunset with coffee (there is a small coffee bar thereis worth to see. Generally the place has few romantic places nicely arranged, ideal for the couples ;Childrens should be guarded - there are no barriers when approaching the fortress (from the gate to the top of the tower).
Its an amazing historical & quite place to spend time with family and friends. it’s located on a rocky hill at the height of 400m above the sea level.
Bring your hiking shoes, the way up is very steep but the view is definitely worth it.
A beautiful place to go. Find everything you need for relaxing hours and time spend well
Decent food, splendid views, awesome castle, bad English but friendly peopleCorrect prices for Albania, definitely given the exclusive location
100m to go up is just nothing as the view is worthy! Plus!!! The food! SUPERB!!!! I had the best food so far here in Tirana! Fresh salad! Juicy Melon! The best Chicken tried so far!I wish i can fly so i can come again and again!I super Love the food and the VIEW! awesome!
Not a big Castle very rare I’d say only 25-30min max away from the capital TiranaBeautiful views around en route to the Petrela Castle 🏰 is the Albania Zip Line for thrill seekersThere is a restaurant at the castleNot a difficult place to get toAfter arriving at the Petrela province 5 min walk or maybe 10-15 because its impossible to not stop here and there to take pictures 😃
One of the best places to visit when you are visiting Tirana, Albania. The view is spetacular.
Pretty cool,.nice view, good restaurant at the top. Worth a stop if youre in the neighborhood.
Its an amazing place . Its a very historical place . I recomand it to all.
Amazing view of the lowlands of tirana and the meandering stream of the river Erzen. The chimney inside the tower during the winter and the fresh air in the yard during the summer make Petrela Castle allways proper destination.
Very beautiful castle with a panoramic view.Restaurant is good with traditional food.
Beautiful views and look lovely architecture
The hike was a little scary since there are no handicapped rails. We are 72 and it was worth the effort. Beautiful castle. Great service. Amazing traditional Albanian food. Wonderful views.
Is one of the tourist location close to Tirana that attracts a great number of visitors. The Castle, the prominent wooden structure is a restaurant, is perched on a rocky hill, above the village with the same name. It has a triangular shape with two observation towers. Although it was first built in ancient times, the present building dates from the 15th century.
Beautiful view at Tirana and thats all. I do not recommend the restaurant. We did order a kebab and get local mix of meat instead with hairs inside.
This place has amazing views and it’s at a great location. The service is very slow and waiters are very rude and need to understand that we pay for what they ask but they don’t provide the service you pay, the castle maintenance is nonexistent, and safety is a concern.
I loved this place. The view was stunning!
No tickets. No tourist and good view and good restaurants
Amazing view, wonderful nature!
Great, fairly accessible landmark with a friendly and not too expensive bar/cafe with the best view in the area. Its bit of climb to get there but well worth it but for those not able to hike up steep grades for 20 minutes or so, caution is advised.
The castle of Petrelë has a rich history, containing a tower which was built in the 6th century AD.It is one of the tourist locations close to Tirana that attracts a great number of visitors. The castles signaled to each other by means of fires. During Skanderbeg’s fight against the Ottomans, the Petrela Castle used to be under the command of Mamica Kastrioti, Skanderbegs sister. Beautiful place. Amazing view. It has also a restaurant and coffee so u can have there a nice time with friends.
Petrela castle has a fantastic panaroma. It is restorated and has a good diner and cafe. Unfortunately you can reach by car only. There is a big car park free of charge and you have to climb the stone stairs (some ruinedfor about 10 minutes to reach the castle and cafe. On the way back you can find a restorated stone mosque.
A place to visit if you are staying in Tirana. The path to the castle from the parking place takes just 7-8 minutes. On the castle there is a restaurant with traditional food and i recommend to make a reservation if you want to have a lunch or dinner on the old place with the beautiful panorama. The service could be better. There is no guide or signs on the castle. The castle area is very small and over the half area with restaurant tables. Im not sure if is permitted to make a picnic. There are some busses Tirana-Petrela and back. A photo of bus timelines is uploaded. Have fun! 😊
One of my favorite places near Tirana to go and spend some quality time with yourself or your friends under a fantastic view. The warmth this place offers you in winter mixed with traditional accomodity and traditional dishes gives you a unique experience. The road to climbing the castle is also one of my favorite parts.
A very ancient castle on the top of the hill of Petrela village in north west Tirana build at first by Romans after that it used as a chain castles by Scanderbeg army and at the end by Otoman garnisons during long time ocupation from Otoman empire. Now open for public and can be visited free of charge during entire week.
Nice place to visit if you have a car to get here. The views are great and there is a place to get coffee. The castle is not very big and there is not too much to see.
After having been in a tour of Albania for 9 days and looking back, I feel it is not worth visiting as all it is today is a bar restaurant on top of a hill. Albania has much better places to visit.
Very historic and quaint castle with picturesque views of the surrounding valley. Parking is free and so is the entrance to the castle. Inside the castle is a charming restaurant but it goes down hill from there. The food and service at the restaurant leave a lot to be desired. The quality is okay (we ordered a full chicken to share and it was extremely thin on meat but was well cooked). When the bill came the waiter handed us a written receipt that was was 50% higher than it should have been. Fortunately my friend can read a little Albanian and called attention to this. The waiters first reaction was to deny the mistake. He then went away and came back with an official printed receipt with the correct amount. It was clear by a few other factors that he had not made a mistake, he was trying to pocket some extra money.
Beautiful castle and ruins. There arent any info about the open time so we could try to speak with the people- they dont speak English so it was funny but we solved it. At 10 the gate was open so we climbed up, but the castle was closed. The panorama is so beautiful, take some excellent pics.
