Petition - Modern Australian restaurant in Perth, Australia
The restaurant service is good. However, the food disappointed me 🤧
All in all, its ok. It seems pretty pricey for the food you get, which I would say is average across the board. We got a selection of share plates, and all were nice, but not amazing. The service is great though. The right amount of attention without being overwhelmed, and everything was served pleasantly and promptly.Id definitely come back, but would be looking to try their substantial sized meals to see if I can be won over that way.
Highly recommended. Love the food and ambience. Koma hotel is very nice to walk around too. DO NOT miss the homemade hash browns… add it on no matter what. Would say it’s the best hash browns I’ve ever had!
The restaurant is very nicely made. It has a good atmosphere. The food was very average. Asked for well done eggs but they come runny. Service was decent. A bit overrated.
I tried to visit all the restaurants at the State Building in my little getaway, but I would say this one was a bit disappointed. My booking was at 8 o’clock at night and I got there 10 minutes earlier. While I was standing at the front desk for at least 10 mins, a few staff members walked passed me and ignored, until a gentleman arrived and waited next to me. The manager went straight to the gentleman without asking who was there first. Finally seated, I tried to order the chef selection and was told that it needed to have two people to order it, there was no where had stated that on the menu. After a few negotiation, the manager finally came to see me and said she worried I might not like the chef selection and suggested me to order a la carte instead. Two waitresses came separately and asked what water I would like. Yeah, of course, mistake again. They opened a bottle of sparkling water for me rather than tap, which was charged at the final bill.About the food, the bread was delicious! Soft and chewable balanced very well. The swordfish was interestingly made with shedded pickles. I’m not a fan of the lamb as the whole dish was quite heavy and it could be fixed by adding some citrus flavor into it. At the end, they offered me a dessert that should only come with the chef selection. The dessert was very nice. I also ordered a peach sorbet which was mind blowing, so fresh and great to have as finished.
Went for breakfast and got the Huevos Rancheros. Wasn’t expecting what came out, but more of a “deconstructed” dish. Also was a little light on. The chilli jam, though, was amazing! Also pretty good coffee. Friendly and attentive staff.
The Food was amazing. The chefs choice menu was to die for and full of exciting items that usually I wouldnt have ordered. My must have pick was the duck breastfeeding and my goodness was it absolutely amazing. Thoughouly enjoyed the experience start to finish.
Breakfast was delicious - best bacon and eggs I’ve had out for a long time - coffee was good - a little cool for my tastes - but next time I’ll ask for hotter - a preference not a criticism 🙏🏻
Sundays are lazy days, late brunch, and time to take it slow.. sitting down for brunch at 10:30am and being rushed to place an order "now" as the kitchen is closing in 1 min.. not the mood Sunday Brunch should start of with.I really think the vibe in the place focused on setting up for lunch, rushing covers, setting tables, rather than allowing customers to just relax, take their time...I would suggest still having enough staff in the kitchen to drag the breakfast menu out at least an hour more... Whilst someone else is preparing the lunch menu.
Food is delicious but it is overpriced for what they give you.The chef menu is yummy but its missing a plate or you end up hungry.Amazing deserts.
Went for a family dinner. Chose the $80 pp Chefs selection based around the Lamb. For 7 people no one left feeling hungry as the selection of plates on offer were large enough to share that each got an adequate amount of food. The fish, prawns and Cauliflower were particular standouts! Definitely recommend!
Excellent food, as aways last week at Petition. Feed me menu is good value for $80. Only reason for 4/5 stars was that dessert was light on and new staff a little inexperienced. However, its a tough time to get staff in Perth right now, so we understood and they were friendly and accomodating. Entrees, mains and wine were superb! Still a favourite. Recommended.
My wife and I dined at Petition recently. From arrival to when we left I could not fault them. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. The food was amazing and a perfect serving size. This is an excellent restaurant and I would certainly recommend and will be happy to visit again.A wonderful experience.
Very tasty, love the gf menu and the beer hall next door while you wait for a table. Pate and duck were both delicious. Service was friendly but they were maybe a little under staffed.
Had a romantic breakfast for one and stumbled on a special menu/ set menu they were running as a one offBloody Mary - DeviousFlat White - DelightfulHash - Delicious, balanced and full of flavour. (Thanks kitchen)Service was quick and attentive.First breakfast at Petition. Will be back
Was so excited to finally eat here with the hype around the place, was slightly let down. It was fine but for the cost of it definitely doesn’t feel worth it. Bread wasn’t warmed, 3 prawns for $24 but they were nice so ok. $39 on fairly dry lamb and $44 on dry fish. Staff didn’t ask how our meal was. As I said not a bad place but just hard to justify a $120+ night… without drinks….
One of those places with standout dishes that you return for, but the standard of the food across the board is not quite at the 5/5 level. I really like the use of local ingredients cooked in rather creative ways. In particular the ricotta gnocchi was excellent. Service was hit and miss but they were also running at full capacity and it was better when I came for brunch.
The ambience of the restaurant is brilliant of energy. My visitor from Singapore was craving lamb, and i had raved on about Petition’s high ratings. Very disappointingly, the lamb shoulder came out dry, hence flaky. The broccoli on the rice salad (which was highly recommended by the valetwas hard. The scallop ceviche and grilled prawns saved the meal. We also had a bottle of pinot noir.
Love the place, the music , atmosphere, food and overall vibes is amazing. Highlight of the meal for us was the scallop ceviche which was one of the best food we had in Perth. Beef cheeks and mash is good as well. 5 stars from us and keep up the good work!
Not bad, food was underwhelming. But range of beer was better than average.
Great space & layout, food was good, nothing out of this world. The huevos rancheros was tasty, but with the old big plate illusion…everything spread out, so the portion was small. The coffee was good. My main issue is missing the basics in general service. For example, serving a coffee with a sugar spoon but no sugar anywhere. Serving a meal without salt & pepper anywhere nearby? Who does that? Floor staff (white shirtswere good, and attentive but the Maître d staff (black shirtswere fly by night, missing the greeting and seating part of the game fully…..when I asked for salt and pepper, there was no apology or yes I’ll get that for you, the Maître d just wandered off, cleared tables, discussed the lunch menu and bookings and eventually made it back to my table? Amateur. To top it off, I went to pay and the two black shirts just stood there discussing the staff roster, while I waited. Amateur. I won’t be going back.
Had lunch @ Petition for the very first time today and it was absolutely amazing! Our waitress Shristi was friendly and attentive and we had the chance to see her handling a difficult customer in the most professional way. We really enjoyed food and service here. Scallops were to die for. Kudos guys ❤️
My mum and I had the pleasure of dining at Petition last Friday for breakfast. Both of our meals (pancakes and huevos rancheroswere delicious.Great service, atmosphere and inner city location. Recommend.
Flawless! Its a rare occasion when we eat a chefs menu and every dish is good. Thats what happened tonight at Petition. You pick a main and the chef will choose 7 other dishes to share and go along with it. It was great how even the most simple of dishes would be packed with flavour. Some restaurants are all about the presentation but the flavours are not there. Its not like the dishes at Petition are not well presented (because they are), they are just not trying to be flashy for the sake of it.Also, get the Margarita. It was delicious.
Open nice and early for breakfast. Delicious Huevos Rancheros dish. Great service and the best coffee Ive had to date in Perth. Very unique and beautiful interior.
Service is ok; higher up staff weren’t that friendly. Took some time to be seated and a long time to have my order taken. Spinach and kale were extremely salty - inedible. Eggs were also quite salty. The piece of toast that the eggs were on was saturated and soggy, like uncooked French toast. Very disappointing and would not recommend, at least for breakfast.
Came for breakfast on a horrendously windy Sunday. Venue is very polished, as you would expect from a high-end joint. No complaints at all with the food/service. Pancakes are always great!Sunday surcharge is borderline obnoxious when youre paying $20+ for pancakes, though.
A very nice trendy little cafe/restaurant located in the State Buildings, St Georges Tce/Barrack St. Great place for a coffee which went down a treat. A very nice menu was available for lunch with an assortment of size and priced dishes. Great service and the food was excellent if priced a little on the high side for the serve, however, everything was fresh and cooked perfectly.
Weve had both lunch and breakfast here and both exceeded our expectations. We ordered a chicken dish for lunch as the menu was very limited to pregnant patrons but we were blown away by the dish. Usually not one to order chicken when dining at a restaurant but hubby and I both couldnt stop talking about how delicious it was.
Lovely fine dining restaurant which serves delicious and high quality food.We ordered the broccoli salad, fritters, chicken and pork belly. My favourites would definitely be the broccoli salad and pork belly. The pork belly was soft with crispy skin and the pineapple it came with had a hit of spice. It melts right in your mouth. The chicken was pretty mediocre, the skin was crispy but the taste itself was just salty.Drinks are amazing here - we ordered all four cocktails and all four were unique.
Came here on a Thursday night 3 weeks ago based on all the great reviews but was disappointed, took them 20min to take our drinks order even though wait staff were standing at the pass chatting. The cocktail I ordered is officially Perths most boring cocktail, as pictured, basically a mixed drink in a glass.Food wise the polenta chips were lovely, the duck leg confit was pretty good but the Cajun pork dish needed more sauce or something as the dish seemed a bit dry. The broccoli salad is served cold, it was just ok.
Absolute loved it. 😍The ambience and vibes were absolutely perfect for lunch date with my Wife. The chefs special was one hell of a course. Service was exceptional and the staff there were lively as ever. Loved the experience ! Would definitely recommend anyone and everyone to come atleast once in your lifetime or else you are missing alot.
Food is generally good. I found in the latest menu, a lot of dishes are on the sour/pickle/vinegar side of the taste, which I am not a huge fan of. Oh but the broccoli salad remained our fav after many years! It is the BEST salad!Staff were quite cold and the lady who appeared to be the manager, did not greet us when we arrived. (Only asked if we have a reservation...Well maybe she had a hard day...Overall, food is good, drink is good just the experience is not the best.
Love it. Stroll from my hotel. Went there for breakfast and dinner during this business tripSimply the best
Noisy and vibrant atmosphere, tapas style restaurant. Services was fast and friendly, staff are attentive. Loved the duck liver parfait, serving was much bigger then I expected. The only thing I did not like was the desert; coconut sago. The only thing was it was not sago but chia seeds. However I did get an explanation from the staff, the taste was plain and I felt like it was a breakfast dish. Overall a nice night out, if you like vibrant and fast pace this is the place to be.
Food was absolutely delicious and very fresh! Wait staff were excellent, friendly and efficient. Be prepared to take your wallet is a bit pricey $$$
First time petition. Its a nice place with good food but i didnt like table settings there bcoz between tables are quite close, so no much privacy. Staffs were nice but seems busy even its monday. I hope they can improve their service better next time!
Wonderfully crafted dishes. Was here for a group lunch with a share menu. Their cocktails are delicious with well-balanced flavours. The dishes are creative and well done as well.
The Petition Beer CornerThis establishment sports a good range of specialty beers. It has a pleasant atmosphere and is not too noisey so it is fine for having a meeting our conducting a conversation. The Petition KitchenThe kitchen is a spacious and comfortable venue. The food is excellent and the service is at a very high level. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed and it is easy to conduct a business or personal conversation without having to raise your voice. The quality of the food is outstanding. The menu provides a good variety of choices and there would almost certainly be something to satisfy every palate. The venue is licensed so is a great place to stop for a snack and a drink or a full meal.
Just visited the Petition for breakfast. Greeted upon arrival by Emily and then table service by Valentina. Both were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fantastic. We had the special with was poached eggs on toast with advocado and tomatoes and Beans with poached eggs and potatoe gratin. Plus 2 coffees. Good value too for this cool venue. Well done guys, great effort.
I can always hear someone recommend this restaurant to me, but to be honest, it may be that I have too high expectations so it doesnt surprise me that much. The food is delicious and the service is good, but there is no need to come back again.
Celebrated my sisters birthday lunch there. We tried a bit from each course. Food was excellent, as well as the service. Will be back
Short weekend getaway to Perth, came based on a recommendation from a mate.Food was absolutely delicious, service from our hilarious Irish waiter Simon was top notch, yummy cocktails and lively vibe atmosphere. Food are designed to share for the table. We went for the chefs selection and made it an adventurous night. Fav was the pea risotto and roast chicken, both flavourful and well cooked. The only feedback was the plates were not changed between courses which meant interference of spices from other dishes did tant the over flavour and experience.
Absolutely fantastic restaurant. We ordered the feed me meal and left completely satisfied. The service here is on point and the food quality is sensational. We stopped and had a couple of beers at the Beer Corner next door before going to dinner, it is also highly recommended to visit.
Wonderful friendly staff, perhaps the best cocktails ever, and delicious food. The ambience is relaxed but lovely, this place it popular for very good reason.
Great place! Our go-to breakfast and lunch! The staff were friendly and the service was good. They change manus during the day, depends what time you get there. Breakfast serves until 12:00, after that will be another menu. Great choices both for breakfast and lunch options. Amazing quality of products and ingredients. In our 5days trip, we went there 3 times for breakfast/lunch! We loved everything we ordered. All tasted great! Would definitely go back again!!
After re-visiting, we were met with great service and cuisine. Every dish served was vibrant and unique, with such elegant flavour. Every plate paired well together as they flowed through the night. I would like to thank the manager, James Broadhurst, for his contribution to our spectacular evening and to the rest of the staff for their efforts also. Thanks guys!
We had breakfast and dinner here in the space of 4 days. Both times were excellent. Super cool vibe both times. The evening saw the restaurant fully booked out and for worthy cause as the food was delicious. We had a vegetarian in our group of four and myself gluten intolerant. They had a great selection for both of us. Particularly the vegetarians, as there is a seperate menu that is not advertised on the website. You won’t go amiss to try this place for a special date night it for a friends get together!
We had a great breakfast at Petition Kitchen. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the service was quick. The food was very good too. We ate the heirloom tomato and the omlette. Would definitely come back here for breakfast. The bloody Marys are great here too 🍸
Decent selection of brunch options, and I loved the pancakes a lot although it’s a tad too sweet. It’s probably worth 4 star more than 5 but great nonetheless and a good recommendation by Google review. The service was alright but could be improved- we literally have to walk in on our own and show ourselves to the seats. The staff energy was Low.
