Avenue Winston Churchill, 75008 Paris, France, Houilles
Richly decorated 1900 building, housing eclectic fine arts dating from Renaissance to 20th century.
Went to see the Sickert Exhibition. The building and museum are definitely worth a visit. The restaurant too was great. Dining in the beautiful garden on a wonderful sunny day was one of the highlights of my birthday in Paris this year.
Beautiful small palace. Not too touristy so it is not very crowded. There is great art inside (not the big names but beautiful art). Highly suggested! very cute garden and architecture!
Very nice and diverse artwork from paintings to sculptures and even some jewelry and homemade utensils collections. The museum is very spacious, you can have chairs wherever you go, so you can chill or paint.I would highly recommend it, the entry is free and not crowded. So, it’s just perfect for those who like the combination of art, quiet time and spacious places.
Lovely museum with lots to see for free - dont miss the garden and cafe once there!
What a terrific museum for free!! Great variety of artwork and a fascinating building to walk through.
Very pretty building and art collection. Even though much smaller than other Parisian museums, a great place to go and to enjoy art. Surely less busy too!
Good news: it is free! (Which made us expect less, but we were surprised with the beauty inside it). You should definitely get in and see. It is small, but very pleasant as you can see everything inside in a reasonable time!
Lovely Museum to visit and fortunately it was free entry,
Beautiful palace with an art exhibition. Entrance is free of charge. Recommended when visiting Paris.
Not busy. Could go in for free. Nice caffee inside. Wonderful garden
Highly recommended visiting this museum. Very comfortable viewing of some very fine artwork, such a pleasure without crowds. Delicious lunch in tranquil courtyard cafe.
Impressive architecture- lofty painted ceilings, small collection of beautiful paintings and sculptures and charming garden with (busycafe serving tea and wine. Late opening was nice time of day to visit for aperitif and art. Note that the main collection closes at usual time even when the entrance and exhibition areas are open late. Well worth visiting this lesser known gem, especially as there is no entrance fee.
A beautiful museum and it’s free. The city got so many great places to visit. Thank you Paris
We finally got the chance to visit Petit Palais. Its really amazing with all the artwork inside. Go, visit and be utterly amazed!!
Lovely place to walk around (free entryand have coffee shop to sit down and take break.Food on very average but pricey side.Museum hides some wonderful statutes and large size paintings. Please, do look up! Be in awe!
We have been seeking out museums that are less crowded and not as popular. This is in a gorgeous building built for the 1900 Exposition Universelle. Some of the work is monumental in size. A lot is “old school”. Of particular note is the Ars Nouveau works on display. Charming cafe to sit outside in the garden too.
I came because it’s free and didn’t expect much. However this place blew my mind. I am not really into studying artifacts and stuff, but generally love the aesthetics in a museum. This museum is majestic and splendid. The cafe inside is even better! Food is good, environment is out of a movie scene. Make sure to check out this museum, you won’t regret it.
Impression fine art collection. Some of the rooms and works have English descriptions along with the French. They have a interactive and detailed exhibition on sacred art and martyrs. Spent around 3 hours inside, then went out to the garden for fresh air.
Huge surprise of a museum, entered without a plan just by walking past it and seeing the interesting architecture. Was surprised to hear it was free (not sure if its free every day). And it just simply has a great selection of artworks.
If you are not a big fan of museum/arts and dont want to spend much for the entrance tickets, and time for queuing, visit this, and you will not be disappointed, inside this museum you can see paintings around the time of French revolution, which is more interesting and easier to understand because of the more recent history. I live in London and visited all big museums for free, I think V&A museum, Natural History Museum, British Museum and national gallery in London are comparable to(or even better thanthose in Paris, and its free! Unless you are a big fan of museum/Art/history and have specific items want to visit in Paris.
Very nice (partlyfree museum, beautiful building and courtyard is pretty.
A really great place with an amazing collection of paintings and sculptures. A breath of fresh air after crowded rooms of Louvre and museum d’Orsay. Many thanks to the personnel of the Petit Palais. They are super kind and supportive.
Absolutely beautiful free art museum with some really amazing pieces. There’s tons of paintings, statues, jewelry, and even furniture and tapestries. Even the ceiling is beautiful!Bonus for huge public restrooms (also free), a cafe and garden, and air conditioning.
Very nice collection of art. Excellent little cafe in the inner courtyard. One of my fav museums in Paris.
A lovely and free museum.Pro Tip: It’s a great place to cool off in the heat. It is well air-conditioned. 🥰
Free entry. Good sculptures and paintings depicting the medieval era. A day in their life painting is really huge
Very beautiful place located at the heart of the city. Really close to the metro Clemenceau. The entrance to the permanent exhibitions is for free and it is totally worth it.Inside the place theres a café where you can have breakfast, lunch, tea or coffee. Prices from 9 euros.
Sculptures & Modern Art 🎨.Paris doesnt have a deficit of museums. It was a rainy day and an impromptu visit to Paris, so we popped in here for a few hours. Surprisingly, it was free. We were all over 25 years old and not all of us were EU residents, so we must have gotten lucky.I loved perusing through this museum as it started with sculptures and ceiling paintings, then on the lower floor moved to some modern art. The end of the museum was a center garden that was serene but a bit damp since it was lightly raining.
Nice museum. I like the fact that its free. They had quite a few varying artwork. There were paintings, sculpture, tapestry, and various artifacts. The area of the museum is very spacious, so theres room to maneuver. They do require that all backpacks are worn in the front to avoid them knocking over anything mistakenly. The artworks are spectacular, especially the ones depicting the crucifixion of Christ. Everything is very ornate, including the ceiling. A few of the pieces have English translations, so I was able to understand what each of those pieces were about. Not very crowded, which made it easy to move about. Great experience overall. Would definitely recommend
Its FREE! Definitely worth a visit! If you ever have down time, you should come and see the beautiful sculptures and art work here. No tickets needed.
Fantastic displays and unforgettable architecture. The admission is free and this is a must see museum for anyone visiting Paris.
This is one of the few "free" museums for everyone in Paris. The permanent collection is free to visit and the exhibitions have a fee, there is a full upstairs and downstairs to visit. There is also a beautiful garden/café on the ground floor to spend some time in.Located between the Seine and the Champs-Élysées, the Petit Palais is an architectural jewel built by Charles Girault for the 1900 Paris Exposition. With the Grand Palais and the Pont Alexandre III, the Petit Palais became in 1902 the museum of fine arts to house the rich collections of the City of Paris. The collections offer a wide artistic panorama, from Antiquity to the beginning of the 20th century. A true haven of peace, its interior garden welcomes visitors and allows them to take a pleasant break.I would highly recommend putting this on your list of things to do in Paris.
The permanent collection is full of gems, among which beautiful artwork by Courbet, Sisley, Maurice Denis, Delacroix, to name only a few, as well as a wonderful Monet. The building itself is gorgeous, in particular the garden on the first floor with a very pretty arrangement of trees and flowers. All of this is accessible free of charge!
A must. Free entrance. Good permanent collection. Impressive building. Beautiful garden. Present exhibition Albert Edelfelt highly recommended.
Such a nice surprise! It was on my must see list and I’m glad I did not miss it. General admission is free, but I would not hesitate to visit even if there was a fee. I would have loved an audio guide to learn more about the building, mosaics, murals and sculptures. Nice inside garden, enjoyed a drink from the cafe there.
The exposition is lovely, nice statues and artefact, but i have to say my favorite part is the central garden with it trees filled with pink flowers in spring
Beautiful architecture, a fine taste museum with lovely sculptures and a great painting collection (including the famous "Sunset on the Seine at Lavacourt, Winter Effect" by Claude Monet which is a must see!!!!). The interior garden is beautiful in a wild way. What surprised me the most is the silence and the lack of crowds which made this museum a real hidden gem in 2021.
Petit Palais is excellent !! A lot is free which is great and it is full of some fantastic art work.you can also do a drawing yourself so that was a laugh. Lovely building with pink trees and golden vines... tres bein xx
It says it’s petit Palais but it is indeed very big in the inside. I enjoyed every part of it and it was well explained in the description of every painting or sculpture .
Nice museum with a huge collection. I put 4/5 because I feel that this museum should be renewed. Some screens are too old and not working. And I felt a lack of interactivity in this museum during my visit.
A very nice surprise. Didn’t realize how big the place is with the name “petite palace” lol. The permanent part is all time free but the special exhibition requires advanced booking and purchase tickets. There are many stunning pieces so definitely worth a visit!
Great museum in a gorgeous building, with both a permanent collection and temporary exhibit. The entrance to the permanent collection (which includes masterpieces by Monet and other famous artistsits free!! And it has beautiful gardens with a cozy coffee shop.
Beautiful. Exhibition was nice. The onside Cafe has good coffee and tasteful decor
Amazing exhibits and art. Beautiful building and you could easily spend hours looking at the breathtaking paintings. Some of the pictures are just mind boggling in scale. Also since its free to go I cant think of any reason why you shouldnt go to look at a Monet or any of the amazing artists whose work is displayed.
Amazing and interesting museum, many masterpieces like the Sunset on the Seine at Lavacourt, Winter Effect by Claude Monet, everything is well exposed, with perfect lighting. Beautiful garden, very pleasant place, must visit place in Paris.
Jadore! :Amazing place, with beautiful garden, beautiful architecture, plenty of amazing art works. A real treasure and a must visit ❤
Free entrance, beautiful collections and building, great explanations. Several eras and techniques such as painting, sculpting, design, art décoratif etc. There are changing exhibitions with more modern art. (The current one by Othoniel was absolutely uninteresting.)There is a café, a gift shop and toilets. A note that filled me with joy, they seem to also hire disabled people for desk positions. Its a great museum for 2-3 hours, I highly recommend it.
The museum building is amazing. The indoor designs are beautiful. Great exhibits and excellent presentation in Paris. Highly recommended 👌
The is a pleasant alternative to the big museums when they are too crowded to endure. Built for the 1900 Exposition it’s got rind off history snd some great art. Beautiful building, cool and quiet. A good afternoon activity in a warm summer day. Kids will probably not enjoy it much. Don’t miss the Koons’ Bouquet of Tulips behind the museum. We give it three snd one half clams on the coveted Five Quahog rating scale.
Pretty cool museum. We didnt have tickets for the Louvre, and so we wandered through the Jardin Tuileries and came upon this Petit Palais. A museum!? Free?! A nice selection of works inside. Worth a visit.
