Peterborough Cathedral in Cambridge

A stunning Cathedral. I have visited almost 20 Cathedrals in the past 12 months and this is undoubtedly the most majestic. Do not hesitate to visit.

Simply a stunning building with a fantastic history. Brilliant.

If you like cathedrals this is a must. Last built in the Romanesque style with an Early English west front, a different atmosphere to later cathedrals. Helpful and friendly staff, good disabled access.

Nice place ..shops cafes close bye bars restaurants ..busy at times plenty of seating areas .

Free entry although a donation is suggested. A pleasant suprise finding the tomb of Catherine of Aragon. Finding a spot for your car won’t be an easy task.

The cathedral is just beautiful! The wood ceiling and decorations inspire faith. Mary Queen of Scots rests here.

The classics concert was wonderful as the acoustics of the cathedral were lovely for the sound of choirs and instruments. Just fabulous and, more importantly, totally memorable

One of the best cathedrals in England and its free.

A rather lovely old building with a rich, if not overly exciting history. I particularly like that there is a community feel to the place with various groups meeting up, in and around the cathedral. Given it was largely funded by local businesses its nice that it kept its community spirit.

Almost hidden away but well worth a visit. There was a dinosaur exhibition when we went. Although it did not take long to go round, it was well done with great models. Cool to see dinosaurs with a medieval cathedral as a backdrop.

Stunning architecture - especially for a building that has its origins 900 yrs ago. Catherine of Aragon, Henry VIIIs first wife, and Mary Queen of Scots are buried here. Well worth seeing. The brass eagle upon which the Bible is placed during services is over 500 years old!

Very nice place however beautiful however In the cafe in the front very poor toilets over filled bins slow service to busy chatting unhygienic staff members as well

Fantastic visited the tomb of Katherine of Aragon and where Mary Queen of Scots was first laid to rest. Dinosaur exhibition on when we visited. Found the volunteers very helpful and knowledgeable. Will definitely be visiting again.

Visited for the TRex exhibit. Was great, really enjoyed it. Have also been for previous events too like Tim Peake and craft fairs

What an absolutely stunning place steeped in history and beautiful architecture. It’s well worth the visit and make it the centre of your day out with the Nene Valley Railway and excellent local shopping nearby. Lots of local history. A great place to visit.

A beautiful and awesome house of prayer. Very peaceful and also a stunning magnificent west front, and some nice stained glass. Well worth a visit.

I have never been to Peterborough, did not know it was a city! Very easy parking a short walk (500 MTRSfrom the cathedral. The impressive central square of the city has a European feal, looming over the surrounding buildings are the upper elements of the magnificent cathedral. You approach through a super arch, and there it stands in all its medieval glory. No entrance fee, you can make a donation, then just wonder around. A Dinosaur exhibit was being installed the day we visited. Some of these photos are of St John the Baptist church.

Absolutely beautiful cathedral inside and out. We have planned this visit for a long time - one of the highlights was going to be visiting Katherine of Aragons final resting place so imagine my disappointment when her tomb is in a restricted area because of a dinosaur display and if we want to see it we have to pay £32. Whilst I appreciate the need to raise funds for the upkeep of the building, this was genuinely upsetting and very disappointing.

Went to an evening DOT performance of Pygmalia, in the cloisters. Took our own chairs, picnic (byob). Really fortunate with the weather. Toilet facilities were stretched during the 15 minute interval.

First time to Peterborough and visited the Cathedral - the guide we spoke to was incredibly helpful and so passionate about sharing the stories and history with us, she also recommended other places to visit nearby. Well worth a visit! Reminded me of York Minster.

You cannot gauge the depth of history, by seeing this place in photos, you need to walk through this magnificent mediaeval treasure.

A super exhibition, with information brief enough but also informative. Moving displays with good sound effects. A great setting and on a hot day good choice to take young children out of the sun to see "real size dinosaurs ".

Very beautiful, spectacular cathedral set in some lovely grounds with room to sit on the grass. Interesting information around the building about the different dates of parts of the building. Amazing tombs of past bishops and dignitaries. Friendly welcome - donations not compulsory (but encouraged 😜)

Wonderful place to visitFull of history , including two Tudor age queens. Took two Ukrainian refugees we are hosting and they loved it. Staff and clergy almost unbelievably helpful and informative.

We really wanted to see inside the Cathedral but on entering we had a Guide approach us trying to persuade us to donate. Im always happy to donate to the upkeep of Church buildings but will not be coerced into it, however much I choose to donate is my business. We promptly turned around and walked out.

Beautiful place with amazing architecture. Free entry but I suggest to leave a donation for the up keep of this historical building. Gift shop and toilets inside.

A beautiful cathedral which encourages people to enjoy the space. Great that contributions rather than an entrance fee are given, allowing everyone to be able to enjoy it. Good information all around.Staff/volunteers are welcoming and helpful.

A beautiful place which seemed less crowded than some other cathedrals. There is no entrance fee, although donations are gratefully received. Be sure to visit the touching memorials to two queens buried here: Catherine of Aragon; and Mary Queen of Scots (whose remains were later moved to Westminster Abbey). There is also a sunny, sheltered cloister on the south side of the cathedral nave which we stumbled on by accident. Well worth making a detour off the A1(Mto see!

Its an OK city that has suffered like most thanks to C-19, the cathedral is very nice entrance is by donation so dont be a mean so n so.

Peterborough cathedral is good and heritage architecture. It looks beautiful at Christmas. I have attended Christmas payers and fell the peace of the place. It conducts multiple events throughout the year. You should visit if you are in Peterborough.

I had recently paid a visit to a wonderful Peterborough Cathedral where the 1st wife of Henry VIII Catherine of Aragon laid to rest. I have admired their stories. I spoke to the staff and I was overwhelmed with her vast historical information she shared with me and my wife. Shes a gem at the Cathedral.

I do not use the word awesome in its current guise of "quite interesting" but as in utterly astonishing. A must visit whether or not you are a regular visitor to churches

Amazing cathedral with a lovely walk around museum and display.Integral part of this city bustling with life and history.Optional small donation upon entry which is well worth doing ad its clear to see what the money goes towards.I have also never quite seen stained glass windows quite like it before; extremely intricate designs from the original build.Would recommend a visit.

Really enjoyed our visit here - the architecture is brilliant to see up close, the attention to detail. The kid loved the depiction of the moons surface within the cathedral - spent a lot of time pretending they were astronauts.Then there was also a Tear and Repair area which showcased textiles created by five women and you could add to this in your own way. We spent longer inside than we had intended to - a lovely peaceful place.

As Cathedrals go, its pretty impressive - and also, unlike some they havent put a hefty price tag to walk through the door for a wonder, they just encourage donations. We went whilst the lunar landscape was in place which also helped keep the kids accoupied whilst we looked round. Lovely place!

A beautiful piece of architecture, sadly I didn’t get to go inside as a wedding was taking place. I will go again though. It’s always nice to see such an old building kept to a good standard.

Free place on which we made a donation, help keeps with the costs of such an amazing building. Stunning place which is really inline with York Minster and Winchester. Stunning ceiling and the entrance is stunning. Grounds are clean signs which tell the history of the place.

Clean and comfortable hotel set in a beautiful area ideal for walking. Good choice of food at reasonable prices. Staff helpful and pleasant. Dont forget to register your car for free parking.

Great architecture and history here. Mary Queen of Scots was buried here originally, but moved to Westminster Abbey in 1612; Katharine Queen of England is still buried here. There is a tour available to visit the 2nd floor at £6/pp, which I find a bit steep in price : dont know if theres any history given in the tour as I did not take it.

If youre visiting Peterborough I would highly recommend including this! Lots of very interesting history and some amazing architecture. Staff were pleasant and welcoming. Entry is free but they ask for a donation. Toilets were clean and well equipped. If you like history or architecture it is a must!

What an amazing place to visit. Absolutely loved our day and we plan on going back to do the walk around the top. The cafe is also very nice and everywhere was so tranquil it felt like we had stepped into another world. Really beautiful place
