Pergasingan Hill - Hiking and Camping in Lombok

We were warned that a lot of people hiked the hill and stayed overnight during the weekends.We climbed the hill on a Tuesday afternoon and were lucky enough to be only 2 tents on the hilltop.We witnessed the most beautiful sunset in Indonesia here with a view of the neighbouring hills, Mount Rimjani and the ocean.

Pictures don’t do this place justice!My boyfriend and I did an afternoon hike and camped on top of the hill. The trail was not at all crowded, and we had the entire camping area to ourselves. We saw the most beautiful sunset of our lives and caught a beautiful sunrise as well.The trail itself is a bit steeper and strenuous than expected (we like to think ourselves pretty fit but this has us questioning thatso definitely bring water and take your time coming down.PS- if you’re looking for camping equipment pls search for Gala Outdoor on google maps. He’s got everything you need!

Amazing view for easy journey.But some people are terrible… camping totally in trash.Please don’t hesitate to pick up a small part of garbage even if it is not yours

Great place to hike

Still the best hill for sunrise in Sembalun. Medium difficulties trek, relatively short. Only take an hour to get to the camping ground.

Start the hike at 3.50 am and paid off by the breathtaking sunrise. Awesome!

Great but sit cow everyever made me disappointed

another beautiful place next to Mount Rinjani in Sembalun village. the track quite stiff took 2 - 3 hours to get there. me & my 3 boys start at 4pm, we saw beautiful sunset during the hiking before get to the summit. we were there on friday, there is local guy with his family selling water and some snack. the make bon fire my kids bring marshmallows and grill it with the local kids. the sunrise is fantastic. you need to climb little bit further to the cliff to see sunrise. i love the valley view. you can see gili gede from there. and from the camping ground you can see Mount Rinjani. i open my tent and Mount Rinjani right in front of my tent. what a great outdoor activity for my boys. memorable adventures for them.

Good View

The hike up was challenging and not what I would consider a nice trek. Very steep uphill the entire way, it’s quite a scramble at the beginning. It had rained the day before which made it harder. I’d say it’s best to go early in the morning. The fog rolled in mid day so we couldn’t see the view from the top at all (but when visible I’m sure it’s nice). Small fee ya the beginning of the trek when you pass the ticket office. Make sure to wear good hiking shoes!

Pergasingan Hill is located in Sembalun Lawang, East Lombok Regency. It’s very close with mount Rinjani, so can be as alternative hiking activity in Sembalun area if you think Rinjani is too difficult 😬.It takes around 2-3 hours riding from Mataram. The sign direction is pretty clear, but if you plan to camp in the top of hill, it’s recommended to use local guide for better experiences.The hiking itself will take around 4 hours and along the way, you will get extraordinary views. You can see how big the mount Rinjani as a whole from Pergasingan Hill.

Its still possible to get through the bamboo fence, there is a small hole on the left hand side with no barbed wire. Not sure why its blocked off, maybe for a reason. Views from the top were very good. Watch out for wild pigs that live on the hill.

Best view for sunrise😊

Difficult to access. There is a large bamboo and barbed wire wall built up in front of the entrance. We went here to hike early in the morning for sunrise and were unable to cross this new wall. Our homestay owner knew we were doing the hike but didnt tell us about the wall. The next morning he said that we should have gone through a hole in it, but we didnt.

Hiked for less than 5 hours. The view of Rinjani was so amazing. You also can found a spot to enjojed golden sunrise.

Pergasingan hill is located in the Sembalun area, located quite far from the Mataram city . I think it is very beautiful and comfortable for recreation and camping. If we want to go up to the hill, we must leave the vehicle in the house and continue the journey on foot up the hill. there, in my opinion, its really fun because fatigue and sweat will pay off when you reach the top of this hill from above, we can see Mount Rinjani and when night falls we can freely see the stars above the sky with our naked eyes then when we arrive we can see the sunrise from the eastern horizon with its beautiful light appearing from behind a hill and here if we do not have a tent we can rent in the surrounding population so dont be afraid there is no preparation to spend the night on the rolling hill

If u want too see Rinjani Mountain, and the great scenery you can try to hike this Hill.

Good

A nice and "quick" hike for a magnificent view on the Sembalun Valley and the Rinjani volcano. The young locals love this place and love to camp up there especially on WE. Therefore, when we where there, about 100 of tents were cramped on the top!! Bringing of course waste with them and not always taking it back.. Its a shame the entrance fee rose to 50k. I would recommend taking a whole day and follow the track till the end for a beautiful view on the east side of Lombok + youll probably be by yourself! 😊

Worth the trek if you feel youre not confident to conquer rinjani yet. Its quite steep at the first half but its much more gentle nearing the top. Takes only 2 hours to reach the top. The view is worth the trek. Able to see rinjani from the top

One of my memorable day was hiking to Pergasingan Hills. It was awfully awesome and deadly for me in personal. I was shocked and felt dizzy right after 30 minutes hike. I almost passed out and lost control. Luckily I was with my friends and they gave me more than support till we reached the top. That was amazing and incredibly stunning to witness sunset on top. Really want to come back again!
