Perch Café & Lounge - Lounge in Kelowna, Canada
Took my wife here for her birthday brunch. It was a memorable experience! Great vibe, good music, excellent staff, phenomenal food and incredible view of the city. My wife loved eating here and we will absolutely visit again when we return to L.A.!
Great place to entertain friends while overlooking DTLA, experience a rooftop restaurant that has a unique ambiance you won’t find any where else. There is a live music that keeps the night entertaining and on if the weather is right a great place to watch the sunset. The food is underwhelming, more effort is placed on the plating than on the flavor. The service is more than willing to find a dish that fits your needs but there is a lack of excitement in some of there dishes.
The host in the front was a little snobby. The restaurant it self was nice. Excellent decor. I went around 4pm so unfortunately the table we were seated on had the full sun blasting in my face. Other than that the food was delicious. Tried the French Onion soup which was ok but the Steak and fries were to die for. Perfectly cooked steak and nicely seasoned fries! Price was good too for the type of restaurant.
This location is on roof top of a downtown building and it has wonderful city views. The service was excellent and food was good. It has a total garden patio vibe. The food was yummy. I got the seabass and it came with a creamy risotto. I am not a big risotto fan, but this complimented the fish well. Prices are on the higher side but I would definitely come back. They had live music playing and the vibe and ambience was nice.Happy Chomping
Perch is a great spot to take your date, or catch up with friends. The atmosphere here is very welcoming and upscale. I dressed up with a nice pair of jeans, a silk dress shirt with a vest, and some boots, but I also saw folks wearing casual clothes. After taking two elevators to the rooftop, you are treated to a wonderful view of downtown LA’s skyscrapers. The food and service were great. We shared a charcuterie board, and ordered the short rib and the salad, all while enjoying beautiful live music as the sun went down and the buildings began to light up!I definitely recommend this place for the atmosphere alone. It was my first time in LA and it was a great place to spend the evening.
Have indoors and very cool outdoors seating on the 15th floor. We ordered:- Baked Brie comes with fennel apple pecan slaw, mâche, wholegrain mustard aioli 9.5/10- French Onion Soup 9/10- Steak Frites comes with truffle cheese fries 8/10- Penthouse passion fruit 9.5/10
Great food and service. It gets really busy, even on a weeknight, so get your reservation in. Valet parking available. With a name like Perch, youd expect great views of Downtown L.A. and Perch does not disappoint there. Many people dressed to impress, so you can too. Or go casual. Good selection of bourbon on the bar menu. We had the sea bass and braised short ribs ... Very good. You wont be disappointed.
Father’s DaySpent the afternoon having brunch at Perch. The food was OKAY. I prefer dinner more so than brunch at any restaurant.I decided at the last minute to have brunch at Perch, so I missed out on the outdoor patio dining, which I always prefer. All the tables were already booked upon arrival. Book in advance for outside dining. It’s fine, we received a table inside and enjoyed our Father’s Day brunch. Afterwards, we went up to the rooftop to relax and enjoy the vibe.It was an absolutely beautiful clear day in LA. The sun was shining bright. Hardly any shaded spots on the rooftop, but we managed to get seats after a few people left. There’s a bar on the roof as well. I would have definitely preferred to have brunch on the rooftop, but only drinks are allowed.
Great romantic views. Some things on the menu are ok whereas others are pretty great. Really good spot for drinks.
Great drinks and good service. Tuna tartare and truffle fries were really tasty! Rooftop bar got great LA view 🫶Valet parking was easy and smooth 👍
Love the view! Skyline at night is breathtaking! Food is good but the ambiance and the setting takes the cake! Weekend brunch with the gurls is a must! Food is delish and view even better! I always bring my outta town gurls here for a refreshing drink and an enjoyable loungy time wirh a spectacular view of my favorite city LA! Staff is super friendly.
Amazing restaurant to go for date night or any occasion. View is amazing and the food is just as good. The employees are nice and didn’t mess up at all.
One of the best dining experiences of my life. Everything about this place was good from the staff to everything on my plate. The view is amazing and I love the rooftop bar. I will definitely try everything on the menu.
My partner reserved this restaurant for date night as were trying to visit all the rooftop restaurants in LA, and I was excited due to the many good reviews. The bouncer at the front door was extremely nice to us. So always a plus for friendly staff. But the atmosphere changed as soon as we were seated. We were seated right smack in the middle so I was unable to enjoy the view as many reviews boosts about it. Im not complaining, I can simply just get up and walk to the edge but I didnt fee like invading someones dinner space while trying to take photos. I felt like our waiter was annoyed with being there that night and it just made me uncomfortable.. For appetizers, I ordered the baked brie ($13and my partner ordered the fromage + charcuterie plate ($25). I wished I had taken photos of the food but my hunger was more important at the time. The baked brie was disappointing. I thought it tasted like mozzarella and it was almost like a thick slice of cheese on a plate. I could be wrong, my taste buds are different from others but it was not a favorite of mine. There was also a side of carrots/veggies soaked in vinegar that came with the baked brie. If you know Vietnamese cuisine, they usually have this on the side with Banh Mi or in your sandwich. This is the best way I can describe it. I enjoyed that by itself. For the main course, I had ordered the chicken (+$8gnocchi ($25and my partner had the filet mignon au poivre ($46with a monkey see monkey dew drink ($15). Honestly, I was not a fan of the gnocchi either. The pasta just looked grainy and it didnt have a bouncy texture when you bit into it. It looked.. like leftovers.. To be honest, I make a better basil pesto sauce at home.. For me, the view, is nice. One star. The food.. mediocre.. The drinks ? Another star. Maybe I just ordered the worst things on the menu ? Needless to say though, I got sick after dining here. I had intense stomach pain all night and just sat with my head in the toilet waiting to vomit.. Which I eventually did..
views, ambience and service is great.. food was ok for my taste.. had omelette and avocado toast, both could have been better.coffee and mimosa’s were good.. note: they have valet parking for $14
Usually a nice place to go for good drinks and dinner, but tonights experience was not as we hoped for. While waiting on a table we took drinks on the roof top bar. Drinks were served in warm glasses , straight from the dishwasher. You dont even do that at a pool party at home. Bartenders were not service minded at all, and did not engage in you as a customer. After an hour waiting for a table we found out that we were put on a "cancellation list" which we were not informed about. So we gave up and elsewhere. Not a good night for us.
A very trendy place for special occasion dining. Also a bar on the 16th floor for young people to hang out after work. Finally got a chance to dine here after hearing about it for a long time. It was very easy to get here in DTLA. The only way to park is valet. The cost for the valet is $13.Got to the 15th floor through 2 elevator rides. Once enter the restaurant, you can feel the energy of this place, lots of people and up beat music. Our waitress was so nice and friendly. Got us two appetizers, baked Brie and grilled octopus. Although small portion, the pastry Brie was amazing. Eaten with pickled onion, it was delicious. The octopus was equally good. All the veggies came with this dish truly elevated the flavor of the grilled octopus, highly recommended. Our main dishes consisted of braised short ribs and Chilean sea bass. The short rib was scrumptious and the meat was so tender. My Chilean sea bass was cooked so well and I enjoyed every bit of the fish. It was tender and flavorful. I had another sea bass the previous night in Newport Beach, it was like day and night compared to this one. Love the the way they cook it here. You can tell this restaurant really master the way to prepare this dish. After dinner, we went up to the rooftop bar. Unlike the photos shown on Yelp from the business, I didn’t see any stunning views of DTLA. There were too many people that packed the roof top bar and I was disappointed not being able to see the skyline of DTLA.
My husband surprised me with a dinner date, he reserved this place for our 1st anniversary. They made us to sit outside with the city view we were able to enjoy the view and had food and few cocktails too. In 15 floor they have restaurant and in 16th floor they have open top bar with seating. To stay warm they have fire place too in winters to stay warm. It’s romantic.
Went here after going to an art exhibit close by. Didnt have any reservations but was able to get seating within 10-15 mins. Had to wait outside the building until called. I love the ambience and beauty of the lobby when you are welcomed in. Started at the resteraunt and tried to go to the roof top bar for more drinks. Roof top bar seemed more packed with people than the resteraunt.I like the food but Ive been to better French resteraunts outside the city. I feel like you are paying for the view and the ambience more than anything. Would probably go back for the roof top bar if not busy. Food for the price wasnt worth it to me. Especially since I live outside the city. Not a main destination resteraunt, more of a lot get drinks here and wait to eat else where resteraunt.
Great destination. I sat at the bar drinking Gin and tonics. The Salmon Ceasar salad was tasty. Great bartenders. The locals make a big deal about the view. Meh. Youre looking down on Pershing Square and a bunch of dirty rooftops. The food was great and the staff was fun. Id return
Very nice. The drinks were excellent! Bombay sapphire Gin martinis. We had the charcuterie platter and pork belly for our appetizers. Both were delicious! For our entrees we had steak frites and gnocchi. The frites were amazing with the delicious cheese on them! Wow! The steak was great. Gnocchi was good, but probably wouldnt order again. Creme Brule for dessert was spot on.The seating was not the most comfortable. We sat on iron patio chairs. But once the drinks came we forgot about the seats. Looking forward to returning.
Probably the only rooftop in LA you should bother going to!Downtown doesnt have a lot of rooftops worth checking out, so I would say you dont miss much if you only go here. The views are amazing and so are the cocktails!Ill surely recommend this place and will bring my friends upon their visits.
Food was okay (we got the mussels as an app, seabass & pesto gnocci with salmon). The seabass was the best of the three.Nothing overly special about the other two.ALSO, they charge a 4.5% mandatory Security fee. Not entirely sure why a restaurant needs that but perhaps it’s because they have a group of folks guarding/pressing the elevator button. Bill was about $130 after tip.The view is stellar & the upstairs cocktails bar was a great place to mingle as well as see a 360 of the city. Would be a great date night spot.
I spend my birthday there alone..It was amazing.. I love the Cocktails and the surprise birthday dessert. Im not really a fan of the pan baked salmon.
I get the hype! I loved my experience here and would definitely come back. There are two floors. The bottom floor is for dinner service and has a live band that plays at certain times and we had the pleasure of experiencing it! The ambiance was amazing. The top floor is first come first serve for drinks. The view is great. It’s a more intimate space but great for a date or group gathering. Also good for pictures.
First time and I loved it. Had to leave to catch a movie but definitely going back. The staff was extremely friendly. Sending me I didnt take pictures of the restaurant inside it is really nice. Great date spot.
An absolute must if you are anywhere close to LA. Worth the wait. Appetizers to try: Porkbelly, Ahi Tuna Tartare, and French Onion soup. Dinner entres: Steak Frite, Prime Rib w/Potatoes, and Salmon w/Eggplant Puree are excellent choices. Conundrum- red wine pairing for steak dinners. Saint Cloud - mixed drink for Salmon plate. Orange & Cardomom Creme Brule is not to be passed up. Enjoy!
We came on a recommendation of friends and we loved it! Perfect place to celebrate an anniversary! The cocktails were great! The food was amazing, we has the sea bass and short ribs. The view and live music was excellent as well. This place has our hearts!
I love everything about this restaurant. We celebrated a friend’s birthday and it was perfect! The food is absolutely delicious, the ambiance is amazing and the drinks are flowing. The views are incomparable so make sure to reserve a spot outside on the deck. They had live music on a Friday night which just added to the whole vibe. Note: we did visit the lounge upstairs for a little while but I probably wouldn’t go back unless we had a bigger group and a reserved table. There really isn’t much seating otherwise. But it overall was a great time.
Been to Perch for a couple of years now and it truly deserves the hype!! This rooftop restaurant has the perfect ambiance, views of DTLA, and great food.My favoriteee are their truffle cheese fries, sometimes I Postmate them when I’m craving it 😩🤣 The steak here was cooked perfectly and the braised short rib is one of my favorite dishes. Will definitely update this review with more pictures next time, I forgot to take pics of the other dishes. @eatswithedith on IG for more!!
I liked the food but the view makes this the perfect date destination. Two bars, two stories the big bar is on the top/15th floor with outdoor seating with fire pits and heaters provided. If you want to impress your date bring them here.
I had a friends gathering for dinner last night. Total 6 went together and all of us had a stomach problem and one person had to go to E.R. due to severe reaction with vomiting, dehydration and upset stomach with constant pain. I personally had diarrhea and dehydration and upset stomach with fever after the dinner at this place. Spent $600 on food and this is what we experienced.View, ambient, music was nice and staffs were also nice over there but I dont know how they managed the food. We had some seafood soup, short ribs, steaks and salmon plate and desserts like gelato, almond cake, bread pudding, creme brulee and a chocolate plate. (Dish names are in French so go look for it)Restaurant/Bars like this Perch need to be more careful, cleanness on food handling. How come most of the people got sick after dinner and dessert! This is actually not acceptable. Im going to wait and see how things goes. And will be planning some action for this.
Wonderful experience! You just cant beat the views of downtown Los Angeles. We made reservations for brunch and went by elevator up to the 15th floor. Decided to have with my meal the Belini and it was delicious. Our waitress was very kind and efficient. It is recommended to make reservations and you can do it easily on their site through open table. You need to leave a credit card number to reserve your spot. They called the day before to remind me and inform me of their Covid policies. The brunch menu had so many good options, I didnt know what to pick! They have valet parking or you can pay park at one of the close by lots.
First of all, they are all well welcoming to customers. My boyfriend and I felt good the first time.Second, you should try their cocktails! I had Midnight in Paris (absolutely was perfect cocktail ever), Penthouse Passion. My choice was perfect!Third, Our Server, food, the view was just amazing. I can say prices are reasonable. Finally, we had a great date night!! If you visit here absolutely you will love it. The view of course phenomenal and romantic also the food, the desert, cocktails everything too.
Steak Frites and pan roasted salmon were delicious! Service was perfect for the occasion and the server added some nice touches after finding out it was our honeymoon! The dessert was recommended by our server and I am so glad we listened to him because that was the best bread pudding I’ve ever had!!
Great place for an amazing dinner. Being in the 15th floor it provides an incredible view of the city. I took my mother for a birthday dinner and she loved it. She had the pan seared sea bass, which was out of this world, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. It came on a bed of red quinoa., quinoa tastes like quinoa, even coming a fancy restaurant. The risotto rice is a must try. The French pale ale they have is flavorful to say the least, sky high cocktail: bomb. Will definitely go back!
Wonderful restaurant!! I had a fantastic experience. The staff was very helpful and hardworking.
Decent food, beautiful view! What else do we need for a lovely Sunday brunch? A reservation!
The views are really nice and believe that it is their main selling point. The location is convenient for me as well so coming in I was pretty excited especially since many people recommended it to me. It’s a really nice casual date spot in my opinion. It would also be nice for a dinner with friends but it is certainly more casual than some of the other rooftop restaurants close by. Our server was very polite and so was the rest of the staff that we encountered.I started off with a French Onion Soup, which is a personal favorite of mine and I get it all the time, and this one was pretty good. It was done in the traditional way which is always what I prefer. For my entrée I chose the Bouillabaisse which is another personal favorite of mine and being that I have been to Marseille and had it there where it was invented I have a really strong idea of how it should taste. This one was more of a hybrid and not the traditional style. It almost tasted more like a Cioppino but it was still pretty good. The broth was not as rich as I prefer but I know it takes at least 72 hours to really get a good Bouillabaisse stock so perhaps it was stewing for less than that.Overall I would recommend with some minor hesitations depending on the occasion. I will be back sometime in the future.
The food was exquisite not to mention the Rooftop Bar view was breathtaking during sunset. Everyone was extremely friendly and polite. Great experience.
The view is what you pay for if you get seated outside, which requires 3 weeks advance reservation. We were seated inside next to the bar and walk way that had very heavy traffic. We were there for brunch. No view and the food is decent. My eggs with apple sausages breakfast was on par with Norms (same amount of grease on the eggs and not so tasty sausages). The French toast was the only item set them apart from other eateries.
Food was good and sights were better! Great for a date night since the lighting is very moody. Has outdoor heating lamps for dining area, however roof top bar only has fire pits so bring a jacket if you go.
If youre looking for a nice rooftop place for brunch, I recommend Perch. Please make sure you ask for a seating on the rooftop patio or near the windows. We were here to celebrate a bachelorette and decided to go with a fixed menu - appetizers, entre and dessert. The French toast was delicious, the shrimp scampi was good and was a large portion (packed a take away box), but the burgers were ok. I wish the burgers were a bit more juicy and flavourful. The service was really good.
Stunning view great food and atmosphere. You have to do a early evening dinner an enjoy the sunset. Definitely a 5 star restaurant.
I get the hype! I loved my experience here and would definitely come back. There are two floors. The bottom floor is for dinner service and has a live band that plays at certain times and we had the pleasure of experiencing it! The ambiance was amazing. The service was also great here and I could come back just for that. We all enjoyed our drinks and the food was pretty good also. I liked the octopus and Mac and cheese. I wouldn’t get the baked Brie again. The top floor is first come first serve for drinks. The view is great. It’s a more intimate space but great for a date or group gathering. Also good for pictures.
I called ahead to see if reservations were required to dine here. The lady who answered was nice and pleasant to speak with. Although not required, I suggest making one just in case it’s a busy night. We were seated within minutes of adding our name to the list. The staff was very friendly and accommodating even though it was a pretty busy Saturday night.I had to send my steak back because it was not cooked as ordered but they corrected it. I received my replacement fairly quickly. The Berry LA cocktail was delicious! I enjoyed the ambiance especially the rooftop bar. I would definitely go back when I’m in the area again.
Great dining experience! Came for brunch. I had the shrimp scampi, my bf and his son had burgers. All very tasty! We split a pitcher of sangria, but it was so full, it was very hard not to spill! The view is incredible, obviously. Our seating was wicker benches, which was fun and cozy, but at the same time was not the most comfortable. Be warned there is a dress code. My bf was told he could not come in wearing his flip flops. Not sure if the dress code forbids flip flops specifically, or if men can’t wear open-toed shoes at all. I wore nice sandals and saw many other women doing so, so not sure what rule was broken exactly. Point is, doesn’t hurt to arrive a little early to your reservation, in case you need to change shoes! The bathrooms could have been cleaner. All that being said, I’d come back for the view and good food. Also, highly recommend parking under Pershing Square.
A great spot to just chill and grab a bite to eat. Came down on a Sunday so we enjoyed a pleasant brunch. The service was good and the food was just as good. The atmosphere is typical DTLA so great for people watching.
Perch represents itself as fine dinning experience with the prices to prove it. All tables for for dinning are by reservations only. There is no walk-in list but only a cancellation list. If a guest cancels their reservation then walk-in guest would be able to take their place. However there is almost never no cancellations because guest prefer to not be charged the 25$ for canceling a reservation. The bar is meant for walk-in in guest. If it’s before 5:30 then all guest at the bar need to order something on the menu in order to stay. After 5:30 all guest are welcome at the bar with no need to order anything. The music is live and pleasant fitting for the atmosphere. Perch on their website says that the dress attire is upscale casual but it’s not true at all. All guest are welcome just as long as they have a shirt, pants and shoes. Be prepared to spend more than 50 dollars per person if you order a plate, drink, and “appetizer”. I would give this a 3.50 stars.
Absolutely wonderful experience!! Visiting LA fir the first time and sharing a dinner with my son!!! Couldn’t have had a better time! Atmosphere is beautiful, rooftop bar is breathtaking(if a tad bit slow), and the food was fantastic!!! We tried everything and nothing was lacking!!! Drinks, wine and desserts were delicious too! And above all, the service/server was wonderful. Took care of our every need and took pictures for us too, lovely lady and memorable evening!! Thank you Perch!!!
