Pepe Nero - Fine dining restaurant in Marrakech, Morocco
Fantastic food, amazing service and stunning setting
So good we went twice!! After so many wonderful Moroccan meals we were ready for something different. It was wonderful. The staff was so great! They do have Moroccan food too. Beautiful atmosphere.
Good food, stunning place and EXCELLENT service
The place is quite beautiful and very spacious. The scenery is charming and the restaurant is located inside a large Riad.We were seated in a patio under nice orange trees.Apart from that, everything was wrong. They have 2 menus, one for the Moroccan food and one for the Italian. We were a party of 6 and the waiter didnt provide enough menu for us. We had to swap around.A lot of the items on the menus were out of stock, which is understandable, but we were notified only once we ordered, there was some serious miscommunication between the waiters and the kitchen staff. Our party ordered drinks and we were left hanging there for a while, once the drinks arrived, they didnt provide neither bread nor butter not even some olives while we waited for the food. Im not sure about the house policy on that part, but when you are in this price range, and about to make your client wait...And the wait was excruciating. About 45mins to receive the food. The meals then arrived 2 by 2, with a 5min delay between them.Overall it tasted low tier, the salmon was dry and vegetables overcooked, and the lamb wasnt really a méchoui. The restaurants pricing and position makes no sense with this offering. We were quite disappointed and I would that the price/quality ratio is quite low.
Excellent Italian food in a beautiful and friendly environment.
Fantastic Italian food in old town, set in a beautiful traditional Moroccan home. The Place to celebrate special occasions.
Alright if you are going for Italian cuisine, but not for Moroccan cuisine. Prices are similar to what you will pay in European cities, service are standard.
Some of the best Italian food I ever had. Homemade pasta, Yes Please! Bolognese Ragu-so good. Beautiful setting that offers a break from the town square. Wonderful service!!
Could be so much better!Beautiful BuildingFood was disappointing, not truly Italian.Random music play list didnt fit the restaurant
Beautiful location, attentive staff. The two of us shared one dish from each of the four courses, which was more than enough. The stake was faultless. The celeriac ravioli tasted mainly of cheese and crème Brûlée did not have a boozy kick suggested by the name. Nevertheless all food was good
We had stayed here before in the Riad, and keen to go back and check out as was Italian then too. Starting salads were some of the best food we had during week whilst there. Kids & I had pasta and all good. My wife had lamb - it was generous and very good. A nice change or break from Moroccan.
A nice break from traditional Moroccan food. The waiters were very accommodating. Lovely Italian wine
I give them 5 stars because I cant give them 6 stars. Barely ever found that level of service/athmosphere/food anywhere in the world and certainly not for that price.
Very nice restaurant with a classic maroc menu as well as non native dishesOnly 4 stars because our selection of wine was not available (twiceand the third option proposed by the waiter, appeared a lot more expensive when we checked outTip: do a proper check of the route as it is a bit remote and lot of youngsters nearby the El Fna square trying to misguide you
Just fabulous! The meal was excellent in a stunning locale. The hosts were very attentive and accomodating to our large group
If youre looking for a perfect excuse to skip Tanjines, visit this place!Bolognese was great! Also loved the complementary Avocado Salmon. Fettuccine Chicken with Mushroom is also good, though weaker in taste.
Lovely setting for a romantic dinner. Wasnt the best food we had in Marrakech, however it was still very good. The pigeon pie was lovely.
Love the place!;Beautiful riad and courtyard and amazing Italian kitchen influenced with a hint of Morrocan spices;really recommended!
A quiet placeIt is beautiful and has good service and delicious food
This place was surprisingly amazing! We were looking for an Italian restaurant after eating tanjin for 4 days. Oh boy, did Pepe Nero blow our minds. You can tell the pasta was fresh. The ambience was soothing and perfect for glam dinner for a girls night out or a date night 😍
Pepe Nero is a nice dual cuisine restaurant serving both Italian and Moroccan dishes. The ambience is great with lovely settings of Riad. Service is great as well. However, I was not impressed with their hygiene quality. Forks and knives set on the table were not clean. Food portions are not that great, though server mentioned portion sizes were liberal and order accordingly. We had bunch of teenagers with us who ran through the food like no ones business. For the portion sizes and quality, the rates are very high end (at par with eating in central London restaurant). When in Marrakech, enjoy local food unless you are too keen to have Italian on your plate.
Bad experience in a Rubbish restaurantWe went for dinner and it wasn’t a busy night for the restaurant as we got our table right away by walk in.We were seated and we wait for more then 15 minute but nobody serve us and finally asked a waiter came by for the menuWe ordered eggplant mozerrela as appertizer which was recommended by the waiter and lamb shoulder and duck w orange source for the mainWe waited for almost half an hour for our dishes and we were shocked that both appetizer and the main served at the same time.As we were sharing the main we asked for extra plates and took us some time to wait the the plates. We found out the waiter mixed up the duck and the lamb when he placed on the table. The eggplant were over cooked and the lamb was so rammish that we were unable to eat.I cannot imagine a fine dining restaurant like this can have this kinda of low quality food and bad service. I can concluded that this is a rubbish restaurant!Don’t go!
Absolutely fantastic dinner! The lamb and salmon dishes were fantastic. Paired perfectly with a Malbec. Great service and cool ambiance. Will definitely be back!
Lovely place, and good food.
Okay so when you get there, there will be a porter standing by the sign and hell lead you into the restaurant.Make sure you have a reservation. You can do this by getting one online. They never respond back so just assume its been accepted. I booked mine 45 mins before and went there hoping it would all be okay. Somehow they had already printed it out and were expecting me.Food taste varies. The salmon fishcake is delicious. However the ragu pasta and the steak were under seasoned and not that great. Service is decent. But expect a wait time of 10-20 minutes in between courses. If you end up staying late (9pm-10pm), there are rickshaws here and there passing by to get your way home. I had to ask a teen to run and grab me a taxi (youll have to tip him 20dirhamsand got a taxi for 50dirhams.Aside from all that. It was an enjoyable experience.
Best place for a romantic dinner or business dinner. Not cheap but good food for fair price. Amazing Riad with big pool and amazing decor.
Pepe Nero serves wonderful food in a fabulous setting at a great price— this experience couldn’t have been better! We arrived for a later dinner at 9:00pm on a Saturday, and were seated at a table for 2 after a short (~5 minwait. Rabie was our waiter, and his service was spectacular— truly the best of our trip.We split the beef ragú and the lamb shoulder, both of which were delightful. My partner raved about how perfectly cooked the lamb was.Not to mention, we left our tote bag at our table— and Rabie came running to return it to us (and somehow did, even though we were already many blocks away!). Thank you Pepe Nero, we hope to come back someday!
This did not live up to the hype. While the restaurant is beautiful, the food is horrible. My dish tasted like it was drowned in salt whereas my friend’s dish had the consistency of microwaved noodles. I would not recommend coming here, you can find a much better meal at a more affordable price.
Good food. Good price. Awesome atmosphere in an old beautyfull pallace
Very nice restaurant, a bit more towards the category of fine dining. European style, and almost European prices. So expensive for Marrakech. However, food was excellent and the staff very friendly. I had the lamb shoulder for 2 and this was amazing! Also, the mixed Moroccan salad to start with is nice, as it’s a selection of Moroccan specialties to sample. One of the few places you can drink a nice glass of wine in the Médina if you want to. Wines are also European prices, or a bit higher even. Go here if you want to splurge or spoil yourself when in Marrakech.
It’s really nice to have dinner here, the staffs are professional and friendly. And the cuisine here is totally amazing! Flourishing tastes and delicate levels. Worth visiting again!
Superb restaurant within 5 room Riad. Two Menus offer both Italian & Moroccan food. Ambience is lovely. Staff lovely. Food excellent. £100 for two dining two course & coffee including 2 x 1/2 bottles of Sauvignon (same price as 75 ml bottle). Best to book but we were lucky as arrived at 7:15 & were fitted in with a smile. Definitely a special place.
Beautiful food, both Moroccan and Italian. We had a group of 13 people and everyone was completely satisfied (and in some cases delightedby their meals.
Excellent food and service for a fair price and very romantic atmosphere in a riad style dining area with orange trees and fountains and fires. They also arranged a nice surprise for our birthday guest so much kudos!
An oasis in a sea of mediocre tajine. A bit hard to find, but worth the adventure. Priced accordingly, but a lovely dining experience. While I cannot comment on the whole wine list- the bottle of Italian Barbera DAlba that I ordered was an excellent selection by whomever there selects wine.
Tasty food. They have 2 menus one italian one morrocan. I had veal filled pasta & it was delicious. One of our group chose spaghetti in Bolognese sauce & it was a huge portion. Lovely decor & good service, provided a tiramisu cake for the birthday girl
Worst ever diner we had in this restaurant . Everytime we have to notify the waiter that theres something missing on our diner.Italian food 4/10Moroccan food 5/10No olive oil on the table with pastaNo Moroccan bread with tajineOh last thing to add , the waiter have the habit to take stuff from the table without asking the customer if its finished with ...
Amazing ambiance and very friendly staff! We did not have reservation but still managed to get a table thanks to other guests that booked for later hours! They have both Italian and Moroccan cuisine menus which is a perfect option to combine different dishes at one table!
Great ambience and good food. Getting a reservation for the next day was easy. They were accommodating on changing our reservation last minute. Friendly staff. We ordered the Leek soups to begin with which was very good. The pigeon pie was good but a little too sweet for my taste. The lamb for two was very tender but felt a bit dry. It’s a huge portion certainly. Their cocktails can be better. They call for cabs if needed which is nice. PepeNero is fairly expensive in comparison to Moroccan standards but a great escape from the hustle and bustle of a long touristy day.
Amazing food and the place so nice...It’s a must to come to... out side looks not goodBut omg in side is amazing.... I must say amazing food... just amazing
The restaurant it self was stunning with water fountains. The service was great too but a bit forgetful although we were the only customers at the time. The food was amazing, they had Italian and Moroccan food menus. I definitely recommend you to try the dessert. It was the most expensive meal we had in Marrakech but it is a classy restaurant. The main thing that stood out was when the doorman/security walked us down the dark narrow alleyway to our taxi.
This is just terrible... Service is horrible... They push you tells you you are lucky to be there... Food, well microwave pastas taste better. Gambas are prawns... And sorry but the picture of what you see on internet are really not what you gone eat... Beurk
Great food and great service. We came without reservation! Big mistake. This place is packed and amazingly beautiful. No wonder why such great reviews. Food was good but not amazing.Service was great.Even though they were full house, they managed to slip us in. Super!
A bit of a disappointment. I normally minus a star for every big thing that displeased me the first let down at Pepe Nero was the table we were plonked on. I asked if the table could be in the court yard, it was but our only view was the gas canisters stored in the stairway.Second the service was poor we felt rush when ever we asked for something but at the same time ignored for most of the meal, almost as though the waiter didn’t want us to be there.Third the food was not worth the price. We had lamb for 2 the meat was nice and a good size but it only came with a plate of bland vegetables no rice or couscous was even offered. Most things I can forgive if service is friendly and welcoming but I found Pepe cold and impersonal. I would avoid in future.
Beautiful spot with great food! A must Go if you want to experience a good marrakech cuisine near Of The Pool!
Very nice ambience, with tables both outside and inside, in the air conditioning. Excellent service, English spoken. We ate the lamb shoulder and it was delicious. And they have cold beer! It is a little pricey, but it was worth the experience.
Beautiful setting, friendly staff, good food.
We came across this gem of a restaurant, online. Took us a little while to find it (thank you Google Maps!but it was worth it.The restaurant is in a beautiful riad and offers diners to eat outside in the courtyard or inside. It was a little cold so we chose to eat inside. We ordered a sumptuous meat dish and a pasta dish. Both were cooked brilliantly. So much so that we asked to thank the chef in person. He came to meet us and gave us a lot of his time. He studied in prestigious culinary schools in London and Paris, which was evident in his cuisine.Thoroughly recommend a visit here. Ideal for couples, families and business lunches/dinners. It is pricier than other local eateries, but that is reflected in the service, decor and food. One of my favourite restaurants and we make a point of stopping here on every visit to Marrakech.
One of the best things was the service...Impeccable! Great setting, try to reserve a table by the central pool, is beautiful. We got a nice little amuse bouche and cocktail on the house :The apple tart dessert is delicious!!A little difficult to find if youre walking and guide yourself only with Google maps (we ended up in the service entrance haha).
It is located in a small riad but nothing special in Marrakech. The staff is excellent and very friendly. Desserts were offered free of charge! The food is excellent in particular the pigeon pastilla. We paid around 800 MAD including a half bottle of wine for 2 persons which is a reasonably good price for this level of restaurant... Recommended...
