Long-running regional chain dishing up Mexican eats, margaritas & more in a kid-friendly space.
My favorite mexican place in Batavia, simple as that.
Eating at Pepes since the 80s there is a reason they are still in business. Nice people great food and killer Margaritas
Excellent Mexican food, familiar environment, staff very friendly and professional, I felt like in home.Nice little town.
Awesome service & Benny the owner always takes care of us.Cant say enough good things about this Pepes.
Great service, food and drinks! I highly recommend the patty melt, Clam Chowder and love their bloody Marys. They have a great assortment of crafted beers.
Pepes and I go way back. Its been a few years since Ive eaten at one. The flavors were still there, but the portions were a lot smaller than I remember. I ordered to combination plate and there was just a little bit of beans and rice. I was a little disappointed.
Coming here for years good food, good energy and great drinks!
Food was a bit bland for a Mexican restaurant
Cant beat the service and the half priced margs. The food is good if you are looking for Mexican with less spice :)
Best Margaritas in town. Staff is always attentive and nice.
Staff were so nice I enjoy the food a lot and it’s a very relaxing place to eat
The food is fine, but this is the second time weve gone recently and both times we were basically ignored. No refills on our drinks were offered, no extra napkins were brought, and when we asked for a refill on chips the waiter made a face. It really feels like we specifically arent welcome, as the waiters interact with every other table. Food is great and so are the drinks, but the treatment weve received has really turned us off of Pepes.
The food is good, service on the dot.
Love pepes. Wish we could go more often but its a bit far for us. Still we enjoy it every time we can get there..
The Best Pepe’s! Always have great Cadillac margaritas! Hospitality of staff is amazing, we drive 30 minutes to go here for food and drinks.
Great food, great atmosphere. Staff is hilarious. First time here, Ill definitely be back!
I just stopped by for a menu but I found out that they still sell the Mexican beef stew. It was always awesome as I remember it. With a whole jalapeno in the middle of the stew. And it was the beep stew, not the menudo. Dont order the menudo because it is a Mexican dish with weird meat. I think they only serve it in the Oswego location
Good food. Reasonable price. Good service
It was crazy one meal cost $25.00 not worth it could of got a nice steak for that considering u dont know what meat u get when its drowned in HOT SAUCE. My meal was great tho but margaritas ugh ya $14.00 for sweet n sour mix NO never again sorry. We used to come to Pepes all the time what happen? Service was great I cant say anything bad about that 👍😊
Great place to eat and drink with friends or family. Wonderful staff.
Used to go to the one in West Chicago growing up, and that owner moved on to own this one in Batavia later on when I moved here. I believe its now run by his family after he retired. Theyre always very polite and remember our family everytime we visit. Ive never had an issue with their fajitas or enchiladas suizas. The only issue I have is when I order the tostada suizas to go. The tostada shell always becomes a wet mess in the styrofoam containers. Gotta use paper boxes for food that is supposed to be crispy.
One of the worst date night s iv ever had. I had a Groupon ( & he has gave us a hard time two other times. But this is it& the manager/ owner (Bennysaid he would not hounr the $10 for $20 dine in deal.said it was because of Covid 19. My data is a nurse and was so offend by him . She has had only 1or 2 Covid 19 paients in the last 2 weeks. We will never go back there. Ill be calling corporate in the morning. BET ON IT
Good food and very pleasant staff!Have been here before and will return again.
Went here on my birthday the waiter he was super awesome and friendly. This place is awesome I would go back again because how the waiter treated me. Thanks to him.
The owners know you by name. They have been a staple in Batavia for years. Not authentic mexican but good with 1/2 price margaritas on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Closed on Mondays. Worth a try.
Excellent margaritas. Service was great. Good was hot and delicious. Would definitely go again.
Ate on the pleasant patio and food was delicious and ample -- better than when we were here a number of years ago. Fair prices and good services. We love neighborhood places!
If your into waiting, this is it!Make sure you have a couple hours to waste.Yes I said waste, by then the food arrives and its cold. But if your into drinking, 1/2off margaritas. The glass is soooo big! 👍
Great place. Not your trendy traditional Mexican place, but more reminiscent of good oldies like Chi Chis and OTB. I love it. Relaxed happy place to eat great food. Prices very reasonable too.
They try their best under such difficult circumstances. The carne asada is always good in the prices are great in the coupons are good. The service is good.
I grew up with Pepe’s in Woodridge and throughout the last few years of living in Naperville, I also frequented that location. I love their beef tacos and margaritas. We recently moved to Batavia and I was excited to find a Pepe’s nearby. I wondered if it would live up to what I have known and loved all these years. I went to dine in last night with two friends who are also Pepe’s fans and we were so happy to have such a wonderful experience! The staff were so nice and attentive. The salsa at this location was our favorite ever - so fresh - and the goblet margaritas were delicious. We also loved the updated look of this location. Can’t wait to go back!
The best around! We’ve been coming here for over 20 years! Great service, family friendly , great food and the best margaritas in the area! Highly recommend!!
Made a big comeback. Steak tacos burst in your mouth with perfect balance of onions, cilantro and steak. Guacamole is hard to beat. I cant leave Pepes without a 20oz cup of their salsa. Prices are right on. If you dismissed them, its time to go back. 1/2 price margaritas Tuesday And Thursday goes great for quick cocktail or a long dinner with friends.
Best Mexican food in the area that Ive been to yet. The people who work here are really awesome and nice people. Drinks are loaded of thats what you are here for but for me it is the food. The food is great it is authentic Mexican cuisine and the flavor is amazing. I wish I knew that I had a Pepes so close to home. This is my new favorite Mexican food place . Its not just the food its the people and the atmosphere they are both great and this place is amazing. Thank you Pepes for the great time and the amazing food!!!
The BEST margaritas around.. The food is great, too! Service is always phenomenal..!!
great food and service even during this take and go time. I cant wait to go and enjoy the sit down service some day. Suport them now so they can be there later .
I currently live at Riverain in Batavia IL. PePes delivered Chicken Fajita Burritos to our Apartment building. How thoughtful to think of us during this shutdown because of the terrible virus that is affecting our country. Just wanted to give them a shout out and thank them so much. When we are able to go out and eat again this will surely be a place I will try. By the way, the burrito was very good.
To begin, I’d like to say I rarely take the time to review a place. However, when a place is as awful as this, I feel the need to share it. First of all, I would’ve enjoyed the half off margaritas on leave with my family, but my military ID apparently isn’t “a valid form of ID for us.” Secondly I needed the margaritas to stomach the food. I would say enjoy, but I wouldn’t even serve my dog this food. The rice was dry. The chicken I ordered was pork, AND DRY!! And my queso was sliced AmErIcAn CHEESE!!! Would’ve loved to know all this before I paid $28.00 for 2 burritos. I can say the bathroom is clean and smelled better than my food. The service was slow and took almost an hour to get our food, only after waiting 30 for a menu. Finally, I would say that our servers were friendly, however I could hear them talking rudely about the topics we were discussing as a family. I would not recommend and would give 0 stars if possible.
I simply called to ask if they had delivery & if they delivered in my area; the guy who answered the phone was extremely rude, abrupt & hung up. I love Pepes & even though this location is closer to me, I would rather go to the great location in Aurora or Naperville; where I know they are friendly & have great customer service. If "hello, I was wondering if you deliver to ........" causes that much irritation to an employee who works with the public then I can only imagine the management & service there. So I will stick to my old locations even though they dont deliver to my area. Extremely poor customer service. Zero stars if I could. Will never go to this location.
Musty smell as soon as you walk in.did not like the taste or texture of the chicken flautas nor the enchiladas.even the servuce is very slow. I will definitely not go back ever again thats why I flooded my
The restaurant was redecorated 3 month after the car collided and forced it to be closed. They were very busy night we were there. The food is good with reasonable prices.
Used to go here all the time but now the chips and salsa have no taste, the food is over priced, and the margaritas and daiquiris are not that good. The service was horrible when I went there the other day. It took us over 10 mins to get drinks, and after waiting 1/2 hour to order, we asked someone for our waitress and it turned out we didnt have an assigned server so a random person took our order. We had to ask 3 people before finally getting drink refills and our food was not that good. Then they charged us for 6 drinks when we only ordered 3. Im not planning on going back.
Went in with a bogo dinner coupon. They had a margarita special on their menu board so we ordered it. Only a $5 discount on a pitcher, no big deal. Bill came, they would not honor special on their board due to coupon. Talked to manager who could not care less. They got their extra $5 out of me. But I wont be back.
Let me start by saying my family enjoys going to Pepes but this was first contact with this location. The sevice is great, and the food is good. I called this location on Saturday 10/20 between 7:30 and 8. I called to place a carry out order we were at a friends. The girl on the phone was having a hard time understanding English, she said "i speak very little english" when I asked about ingredients for an allergy, I then asked for the manager and said she was! She was extremly rude to me on the phone, as a result I ended up not ordering at all and will no longer eat at a Pepes! EVER
The food is authentic and the margarita was really great. The guys serving and behind the counter have a great sense of humor. Ill definitely be back for the specials during the week.
BEST Pepes we have ever been to. A lot of food. The steak was moist and tasty. Stuffed tacos were loaded. A lot of specials also most days of the week. Out for a Sunday drive, stop in for Modelo 2.99 a bottle in a frosty glass. Yum yum.
Well is north of the wall, south of the wall style food. Not sure its the best but it is not bad. I might return. They dont have rice water. The place is clean and the staff is nice. I got the taco dinner and it was nothing like taco bell. So I guess thats a plus, depending on who you are.
This is not your run of the mill Pepes. This is Pepes plus the heart of a talented family who owns and operates this establishment. The margaritas are awesome, as is the service. We have our favorite entrees, and we are never disappointed.
They are okay mexican food. Their primary draw for me is the 1/2 price Margaritas on Tuesday and Thursday. The biggest improvement they could make would be to make better salsa and offer a few varieties of it. I asked if they had a hotter salsa and they brought me a condiment bottle filled with something that was NOT salsa. Still good service and pretty good food/drink.
Went here with a large group for a birthday. They were very accommodating of all of us and created a real familial atmosphere. Granted that probably had something to do with them knowing some of the party, but it was still nice. The steak quesadilla and margarita were good too.
