People's Park Tavern - Bar in Kinkala, Republic of the Congo
Good enough pub if you’re in the area, but I wouldn’t travel to get there. Been a handful of times and it’s been average experiences. Big outdoor are but some tables are so unstable we didn’t dare to sit on them. Have had some great bar and security staff! Outdoor area shuts early and dance floor had very many different songs playing, from Abba to suddenly a house song with no lyrics to then a ballad. Unfortunately what drags it down massively is the fact that I went to a private event my friends were hosting and they were not at all well taken care of and had to put up a fight to get the service they had paid for and agreed on. Definitely would recommend having an event here, but like I said it’s good enough if you’re already in the area.
Friendly pub with big beer garden and marquee. Nice food and great live music. Very child friendly on the Sunday afternoon!
One of the best pubs in Hackney, huuuge place with loads of room to find a seat, arcade games, good food. Hop tip: the place turns into a little club vibe after hours 🔥
Nice pub however door staff completely unreasonable, once outside to visit the smoking area not allowed back in with no reason given and having done nothing to warrant not being let in. What makes this worse is that i was attending a private party in the function room that had been hired out.Overall this cast a shadow over the evening and brought a premature end to proceedings for no reason other than a power trip happy doorman.
Nice place to sit next to Vic Park!Wish they had live music on though
Went to the bar and wanted a vodka lime and soda and got told at 11:20pm on a Saturday that they have no vodka. What a shambles, sort yourself out. A bar without vodka, ridiculous.
I’ll give two stars instead of one because they’re dog friendly, and their outside space is very nice. Otherwise which I didn’t like the most is the customer services especially the bar staff. The guy served us had an attitude. A lady from the kitchen staff nearly hit me at the ladies bathroom door. The food is okayish, overpriced. The toilet is dirty, not taken care of.I had big hopes of the place but i am disappointed unfortunately.
Next to Victoria Park. Done brunch, good selection of food to suit all tastes. Inside and outside seating. Dogs are welcome too. 👍🏻
Great place, love the outdoor area. However the service at the bar is terribly slow and rude - no care about customers at all.
Waited too long to be served. They dont sell a pulled pint. Nice garden.
Brilliant garden - huge with loads of bookable tables. Only downside was long queuing time at the bar - looked like they needed more staff on a busy festival weekend
Good for a day and evening boozy session with your mates (innit- nice beer choices (albeit a bit on the pricey side, but you are where you areand if you get hungry there is an array of not great not terrible food items. On th downside, not so good if you want an intimate environment or a comfy drink on your own - plenty of better options for that.
Fun atmosphere, decent sized space, delicious cocktails and reeeeally good bbq.
This is the most disgusting pub I’ve ever been to. Stunk of urine as soon as you walked in and of course, no surprise that the toilets smelt even worse. Absolutely filthy, there was water (hopefullyall over the bathroom floor, no toilet roll and absolutely stunk. Boyfriend went into the mens and said it was equally as disgusting. I’d hate to think what state the kitchen is in - you’d have to pay me a lot of money to eat here. Would never return.
Rude arrogant staff serving short measures.Well in response to your reply he doesnt remember at all. The drink wasnt alcoholic it was a lemonade. 1/3 empty and he laughed in my face when I asked him to fill it up. Very rude and ill not be returning. Cheapskate boozer
Great pub with tons of outdoor space with pretty lighting, leading directly onto the park. Good food but loses a point on the drinks. My wine wasn’t nice and they serve Pepsi over Coke, which is always disappointing.
The other reviews suggest the roasts are naff but the burgers are sublime. Really just a top notch, big juicy quality burger with cracking skin on fries that will fill you up. Bread to meat to salad to condiment ratios were optimum.Even the foul smelling loos couldnt knock it down a star. Lovely larger on tap too.
I live locally and like the vibe there, however it is a very dirty and extremely overpriced place. 7.75£ for a glass of wine! Waited 50 minutes for a burger as there was some kitchen error, walking over toilet papers and sitting over broken glasses all around.Out table wasn’t cleaned for ages, one of the guys came and picked up the old glasses that stood there for more than an hour from the previous customers on this table, but nobody picked up the rest of the rubbish like burger boxes, newspapers, bottles etc.The toilets were absolutely disgusting! No toilet paper, everything was done outside of the toilets even up to the sinks, water and other stuff all around. No soap, no disinfectant, nothing.I wanted to wash my hands before we finally eat our burgers but there was nothing to wash with. The burgers were delicious and the chips too. But guys you really must make something about the hygiene in this place! I would live to come there but Probably won’t if you don’t do something about it!
We had the peoples burger. Omg it was amazing worth every penny. It wasnt too busy and the food came quickly with very friendly staff. Highly recommend
Lovely pub with great outdoor area just opening into Victoria Park. The food was surprisingly outstanding, best jerk half chicken Ive had in years (and a massive portion)
Fun, buzzy pub on the side of Victoria Park. Food was fast, but a bit average. That said, if youre looking for an all-day drinking hangout in the sun, this place is perfect
Really great hosting and service (especially by the tall, stripy shirt guy on Saturday). Was very accommodating, patient and good natured. Made my 30th one to remember.
Got overcharged. Had 2 singles and she charged me for doubles. The small girl with black hair clearly has no clue what she’s doing. Luckily a man sorted out a refund for me, but I recommend the girl needs more training and customer service skills. Check your receipts as she may be doing this often 👎🏼
One of the most beautiful beer gardens in East London, nestled in the heart of wonderful Victoria Park. We only had chips and they were good, next time well try other food from the BBQ kitchen.
Had my leaving party here and really enjoyed it! The garden is great and really big, nice that it opens onto the park too. Drinks are good and bar staff friendly. Only ate the fries but they were delicious! I’d definitely come back here, just maybe earlier in the day as there’s no sun on the garden in the evening so it was a little chilly!I was annoyed that they only gave us 2 tables for a booking of 32, it wasn’t nearly enough space. Luckily there was 1 empty table near us that we pulled over but given they had a £400 hold on my credit card for the booking, I was annoyed they didn’t reserve enough space for us.Wish they would have some louder music playing too but given its in a residential area it’s not a big deal
Best skin on fries I’ve ever had and the chicken wings were delicious. The waitress was really lovely and they have a good selection of beers (try the Mangolicious, it’s super). Thanks guys
Place is nice, but got served by a man in a grey t-shirt, black hair and glasses whose service was so poor. He pours the flattest of the beers and makes makes you feel you are lying. Change job mate!
Efficient online booking service. They accommodated a party of 30 for my birthday. Sometimes the queues to get drinks were quite long but many pubs are the same at the moment due to understaffing, and it was really busy on a Friday night. Didn’t eat so can’t comment on food. Stays open late which is nice and has a lovely location in Victoria Park. Lots of cute dogs in the garden also.
I come here every now and then because I like the location and its usually fairly quiet. This time however they were completely out of Laines beer (lager on tapand so there was limited choice. The food was nice but was a hassle to order on the app. I wouldnt come here again if I didnt live relatively close. Shame because I do like the location and way more could be done out of it!
Great pub with really quick service!
Came here yesterday and told my friends to order me an aperol spritz. My friend then came back with pimms and I was confused because aperol is orange and pimms is red. I asked her what The drink was and she said she asked for an aperol so I went to complain and they said they don’t do aperol anymore but didn’t tell us that when we ordered and aperol spritz. I then asked to change my drink and they said I would have to pay the extra difference which is very bad customer service and inconvient for me. Also what kind of pub doesn’t do aperol spritz
Lovely pub, dog friendly and great food. Outside have heaters in the wooden booths and the pub itself is groovy and prices are reasonable. Always come here for a drink!
Great vibe in the beer garden. The lack of concern or care for the foul stench of s*#! and flooding in the toilets was shocking . So much it turned me off getting food at the pub and was the talk of the place. If that is their level of hygiene Id hate to see the kitchen. For a bank holiday weekend you would expect more than 3 bar staff on. Queues were madness.
Lovely food, I enjoyed a jackfruit burger. The stand out however was your lovely doorman who was working tonight 23rd April. He was so kind and calm. He was consistently looking out for the welfare of the women standing outside waiting for taxis. Advising us to stand back from the road where we were at risk of phone thieves. You have a diamond!
Nice selection of beers, good astomphere, great location. When I last went a lot of the beers were unavailable but it was at the tail-end of Easter so they must have had a bumper weekend so its understandable; in addition the service at the bar is always fairly slow which is why Im not 5 staring. Otherwise, brilliant place
This place is a mess. They were out of most food by 1pm and a lot of the beers on tap, which is in keeping with my previous visit. The bar staff are painfully slow and incapable of keeping track of which customer is next, and one of them was more concerned pulling a beer for himself to drink behind the bar instead of serving customers. The location is excellent so I really wish they would hand over the premises to someone who is capable of running a pub.
Terrible experience. We booked a table for Easter Friday for both adults and kids for lunch.Arrived at the pub and were told the kitchen was closed as system was down. The staff was extremely rude and kept telling us different conflicting things, as some people around us did manage to order some food, inexplicably.Technical issues do happen of course and everyone is well aware of it, but staff being so rude and oblivious shouldn’t really happen.Again, stress is a factor when it gets busy, but when you do work in hospitality I’m afraid you do need to keep some kind of courtesy nonetheless.
Nice place to have a drink, weve had some fun experiences here, especially in the summer. Thought wed give their Sunday roasts a go. Unfortunately I can only describe them as stingy - probably the weakest roast experience weve ever had, left hungry, underwhelmed and now on the never again list
Nice pub, lively place to go on a Sunday afternoon with a nice atmosphere. The food was ok, I had a roast and it came cold with the carrots tasting of chlorine. The staff are also quite slow which later in the afternoon led to huge queues at the bar.I ordered and paid for dessert which it turned out wasn’t available. It then took an hour or so to get my money back as the staff member I initially spoke to forgot and didn’t come back to me. Slightly inconvenient considering it was their error.
This is the second time that Ive been to this place and all I can say is high vibe, high energy, great people, great staff and good food I will always be happy to come to this place after all it is called the Peoples Tavern for a reason.
I really enjoyed my time here at the peoples park tavern the other day, although there was a problem with our food, and we called the young waiter who was very kind to talk to the chef and give us a different option from the menu. The staff there are very kind, the bar was approachable and just felt welcomed there. Also, it would be lovely if Christmas music was playing, but not too loud too as me and my friends have to shout to speak. This place is really welcoming, do not listen to the negative reviews!! They shouldnt affect on how you see this place!! Their experience was their issue.
Great East London institution. Lots of beer on tap that you cant get elsewhere, cool decor and great location. Very sizeable beer garden and marquee too.
A peoples tavern indeed. Friendly bunch of servers, speedy service, Corona faff avoided by having QR codes at every table for checking in and ordering. Great garden, cat included 😀 as others mentioned, a wider food choice would be great.Liked the option to tip the staff on the app. Few people carry cash nowadays and its nice to be able to tip.
Great pub garden for a sunny day. Lively vibe, just so nice to be here. Lots of craft beer on tap and cans are available. Buffalo wings were so juicy. Burger was a bit undercooked but still tasty. Goes well with a pint of beer. They have many table at back so no need to book in advance, even on bank holiday. Love this place!
I don’t understand how the food can be that bad? Ordered food in this place over the last 4 years, and every time hope it might have improved. Unfortunately it’s got worse. You seriously need to improve the quality of your food. (Photo below is the £16.50 beef brisket,Looks more like an old flip flop, table laughed (and so did the waiterwhen the waiter brought this over)...Otherwise drinks are all ok, service not to bad, extremely busy at the moment so need to be patient of order time, and the pub in general is a nice vibey pub in lovely location. 3*
Probably the worst burger chips combo I’ve ever had and it was expensive. Chicken was so dry and that’s the portion of chips I was given. They lost our drinks order and wouldn’t believe that they missed drinks until we presented the order/receipt. I understand they were busy but it looks like they haven’t set up systems to deal with the numbers they are trying to cater to.
It is right next to Victoria park, very relaxed atmosphere, almost feels like a getaway from the outside world. There are arcade games, a greenhouse for outdoor seating away from the cold. There is also indoor seating quite spacious and lots to keep you occupied. The staff are also very friendly and helpful! Honestly had a great time.
I really like this pub and would highly recommend, however have had a very mixed experience with the food...good beer garden and a great spot in Victoria Park though 👍👍
We went for a beer and a burger. We got the food after 34 min after my partner went to thebar to look for it. Surprisingly they couldn’t find my table 305??? Anyway we were casually served cold food. We both ate cold chips and burgers as we didn’t want it to be thrown away. Our server did offer us a beer for the wait but at this point I felt neglected enough...
Good spot for lunch or drink when youre visiting the park. Both the garden and the inside are big. They have arcade videogame inside. A couple vegan and vegetarian choices.
