Penang hill - Museum in Butterworth, Malaysia
During weekdays was not crowded compared to weekend. Can bring umbrella or raincoat in case of raining.
Fall in love with the place =)
No star deserved. Even after buying “Fast Lane” tickets online, you’ve got to queue to redeem your physical tickets before entering with a crowd that’s really badly managed. Totally defeats the purpose of “online ticketing”
You can spend 60RM for renting a scooter for 2 days instead of waiting for a train for 1-2h. There is road to the hill.
Tram ride woooooh.... Must try... Nice climate...
Useless incompetently run. No social distancing whatsoever. Staff keep forcing people in queue to squeeze closer and closer. Many people not wearing masks and staff not doing anything. No hand sanitizer for public use anywhere to be found. It rained after reaching the top of the hill and there was a massive 1000+ people queue to go down. Going down the same thing no social distancing. Staff incompetent again making people stand in the rain so that they can let people whom pay VIP price go down first.
It is a nice place to see top of Penang view. The tramp has been upgraded, there is eating area at the top.
Nice trip ! 🏖️
Good facilities, a lot of people on holiday. Improve the service for old citizens, they too old to wait standing in the line.
People are not following the social distancing rules. Crowd of people. The scariest part is that some arent wearing the face mask. The staff just letting them doing so. Also, they dont offer the hand sanitizer for visitors. Please dont come unless you want to get covid. Honest review.
Staff is helpful in general. But please noted that Mykad users can only buy ticket once per day. More than that, you will need to pay for the normal, more expensive price. If you are staying at the hotel on the hill, you might want to get the return ticket. Not sure if they have daily ticket. Parking available nearby the station, though it might be full.
not crowded on weekdays. yay!
Tourists charges Entrance fees more expensive than local, only bus 204 service
It was a nice experience with the funicular train of Penang Malaysia during our Dream Cruise Trip from Singapore. The ticket was reasonably priced and the train was also in good condition. It was thrilling when the train rises on the hill with almost vertical incline. The top Station has Hawkar’s area and one can go for other sightseeing’s too from top Station.
Fast lane becomes slow lane. Poor management today. Must improve via comunication.
Wonderfull experience....awesome
best RM40 spent for the 2-ways fast lane tickets on a weekend. the fast lane tickets are literally FAST.. with zero queue. trust me..theres no point queuing an hour or so to get up the hill. the regular ticket queue is crazy.
Train to skywalkRound trip 30RM
It is a popular site in Penang, Penang Hill or Bukit Bendera is located in Air Itam Suburb, 9 km west of the centre of Georgetown. From the city centre you can go here by bus or private car or even online taxi. The main area is up on the hill, to reach the hill from the lobby area you will need to ride a tram. The admission is from 15 for one way or 30 for return ticket. The tram start operating from 6.30am to 11pm. From the lower station to the upper station the duration is around 20 minutes. At the main area there are many spot that you can visit. Best time here is in the morning at around 7pm becaise you can see beautiful view of Penang Island from up the hill. In training season dont forget to bring umbrella.
Waited more than half an hour for the train to arrive, then around 15 minutes for the trip up. When we got to the top there was a lineup of hundreds of people to go back down. There was not much to do at the top, and many very aggressive salespeople. We felt locked in - the only other way down is a 2.5 hour walk. When we got in line for the train down, they were announcing that they were delayed for maintenance and would be at least an hour before it was running again. Very frustrating and disappointing.
Wonderful train but very packed.
Get the crowd-busting Fasttrack ticket.
Comfortable station with several food outlets & clean water closet
Nice place. Spacious lobby and waiting area.
If you come on weekend, buy fast lane instead of regular lane. Unless you want to waste 3 hr for queueing. I think its overrated. I dont find anything Fun at the top either. Funicular ride was so fast only 5 minutes, nothing to see because the view were blocked by trees alongside the road. And inside your view were blocked by people. They put as many people as they can into one funicular so you wont be able to get seat Unless you are on fast lane (costs rm80 round trip).
If you are not adventurous enough to tried the hiking track or have limited time, you can opt to use the train to reach the upper part of Penang Hill. They offer two types of tickets, regular and fast lane. Locals and foreigners ticket are different, you have to pay RM30 for regular round trip ticket or RM80 for fastlane ticket...locals only have to pay about half of those price. If youre not in a hurry like me, just buy the regular one. Only waiting for around 45 minutes and ready to take 4 min drive up the hill.
Very attractive place but get online booking one day before visit. R reach earlier for better experience
An overrated and over advertised feature of Pulau Penang
Very crowded area
A great place to explore. Rich in natural nature n birds, butterflies, monkeys, etc, etc. History of Pg started up here. Bungalows n chalets some broken down a few still standing. Take yr time to enjoy the cool air in morn or late evening. View from up there is breath-taking.
Well worth paying for the Fast Lane on Sunday morning. What a view, and fresh cool breeze, hard to believe this is the Tropics
Soo high!
one great palce to come in penang
Good place but need international caffe shops and restaurant
Good spot for penang view, upgraded cable car make the transport even faster than before. Keep out of afternoon peak hour. The fast lane ticket which always ride first is actually very unfair, imagine everyone buying fast lane, what will happen to the normal?
Awesome place to see penang city from the top and experience the train ride , but the que is little hassle and little crowded during weekends , but worth to visit . If you dont go to this place then you havent seen penang
Top view is great
GOOD FOR DAY TRIP, HILL TRAIN EVERY 10 TO 15 MINUTES INTERVAL
You can enjoy the city view from top of the hill, and Habitat best for kids to learn about the nature.
U need a day. It was lovely..Great for kids too
The view was great but the train service kills me, we spent 2 hours queqing for go and back just about 5-7 minutes journey, and when we depart the air con is off they only open small window for us to breathe, really need to improve the train service
The jungle is beautiful in Penang and regular hikes are enjoyable BUT coming to the part where they have all the “attractions” like the heart-shaped arches and the Little Village are kitschy as they get. Everything is overpriced and tacky. Save your money, go to the Botanical Garden or Moongate and enjoy a free hike.
Dissapointed! Crowds were massive. The wait was too long. Rained throughout. More importantly, EVERYTHING is priced out of the average pocket. Certainly not worth a visit.
Best night view of Penang, I would say. However, avoid festive/holiday seasons, as there will be packed with people. I queued up for approx. 1.5 hours just to get down from Penang Hill using the tram on Merdeka Day.
The habitat is a must place to visit
You should buy Fast Lane ticket if you go on holiday!
Nice view from top /hill.. it can reached by train
Great experience but when you visit on weekend should be hella long line
Buy an express ticket or prepare to line up a lot...also take the side trail walks as very enjoyable
Easiest way to get here is to take the 204 Penang bus, which cost only RM 2. Once reaching the lower station, the best way up is to take the funicular train system. For Malaysians its RM 10 return, and for foreigners is RM 30 return. There could be a queue when coming during peak hours like weekends. The train ride up to Penang hill is quite amazing as the new train speeds up at an angle up the hill. Enjoy the ride and make sure hold on to something if standing up. The best coach to be in will be the first coach as you can see the front view.
