Penang Waterfall Hill Temple - Hindu temple in Butterworth, Malaysia
It was spiritually nourishing. We started at the Ganesha shrine, at bottom of the hill. The weather was kind as it was cloudy. We started our steps upwards. Along the way some quotes that provoke reflection are shared on the journey towards the main shrine. There is some spots of shade from the trees. At the top, the steps open up to a wide receiving area leading to the centre entrance of the main shrine. We were certainly blessed to have caught the beginning of an Abishegum. Something most devotees try very hard to attend. At the end of the abhishegum around 11.40 am were were invited to share in the prasadam. The shrines closes until evening.During the walk down, again there are thought provoking/enlightining words shared on the down ward path. The temple is also immersed in nature. Did not see the waterfall but felt the serenity of the mountain and the mantras. You have to be physically able to climb those stairs up to the hill. Bring a bottle of water. A hat can always help, just be respectful and remove it before entering the temple.
Beautiful gate, lots of steps, take water bottles at the bottom for 1,4 myr, youโre gonna need it.Nice sculptures of Indian deities.Peaceful.
The temple is closed after 12pm and reopens at 4.30pm. Between 12pm to 4.30pm, you can enter the temple grounds but not the temple itself.
Must visit place on the island - have to be fit to climb steps to reach the temple.
Beautiful temple. So peaceful and divine place.
I suggest you go to the waterfall temple as your first location and trust me you wont regret it so if im not wrong you take 101 bus and you tell the driver waterfall temple and he will bring you there for sure tho not that close to it cus after that you need to walk straight there.

I am very impressed with the architecture of this Hindu Temple. From here, I can enjoy the marvelous panorama view of Penang Island. The Grab driver advises me to visit the temple at night. With the colorful led light, the temple will be much more attractive ๐ฅฐ

Most Pious and most worshipped temple in Penang... Known for annual Thaipusam event... Very well maintained and peaceful place... Great view of Penang costal side from the hill top... Blessed to have this temple in Penang...
All about this place is nice, they just have add slide rail for the stairs to climb decent frm the temple
One of the famous murugan temple in Malaysia. Only access is by climbing staircase. Very difficult for elderly people to go to temple..
Traditional well maintained temple. During corona looks some less maintenance but still clean . Good experience to visit.
One among the must place to visit in Penang. Location of the temple will gives you a spiritual feeling with a calm down from the town and so close to the nature. Monkeys can spotted through out the temple premises as its seems a natural habitat. We have to climb steps as like Batu caves and once reaching top an excellent place of worship with an amazing birds eye view of Penang. Itโs preferable to visit during the mornings and evenings as some quality time can be spent in a calm environment.Thaipusam festival is widely celebrated here attracting pilgrims from all over Penang.
Although Im native Penangnite, I never step in to this beautiful India temple before. You must visit this temple which has beautiful building and breath breaking scenery. During MCO only open from 6:30am to 10am.
Cool weather, spacious temple. Delighted with the place and very happy to be with my family. One has to vist this place for eternal experience of spirituality and also to experience the nature on it way. Full clean maintenance inside and outside the temple.
I went during the evening. I must say its breath taking view and the temple was so beautiful. Hence, its a hill top temple so youve got to climb 300 steps or more and if youre hanging out in Penang Island add this temple visit in your list too. *feeling blessed!
A place of divinity. So serene..always a blessing to climb up the 513 steps to reach the top.
Wonderful place to step into the mythical world of one of the oldest belief systems in the world. Its an opportunity to see at first hand how our ancestors 4000 years ago performed prayers and how this practice is followed till today. Truly amazing!
The best devotional place for my soul. Lord Muruga is always there waiting to see all his devotees. My favourite temple.
This temple is probably by far one of the best Hindu temples in Malaysia. It is certainly more bigger than the Lord Murugan Temple in Batu Caves. It consists of 511 steps compared to Batu Caves 272. If youre planning on going, you should consider starting your journey in the morning when its not hot and bring along a bottle of water. It will take approximately 30-60 mins to reach the top depending on your time. Be sure not to miss out the most grand festival, Thaipusam as it is a once in a year event and most people go to this temple during this time. Most importantly everyone is welcome no matter any race or religion.
Recommended night time visit. Such a best placed and nice view from top ๐โค๏ธ
Very good spiritual and Hindu religion temple. But all religion can go and priest the god Shree Ayyappa.
Tourist attraction. Mostly crowded on the special occasions that related to the Lord Murugan. Below Hill Temple, there is a temple for Lord Ganesha.
Colorful and beautiful India temple;)
Very nice spiritual place. The temple is up the hill. Beautiful architecture. Main god is lord muruga. The view from the top is very nice.
The temple was 2nd high and big after Palani in India .

Peaceful Environment...Feels like Tamilnadu Temple...
The best ever murugan temple.... Im a PERAKIAN, but I love Penang for the people over there, their style of living and their way of ritual procession... I love Penang.... I wS there almost 2 years.... ๐๐โค๐

Nice to visit this temple nature +god
Temple atmosphere is very peaceful and serene at the top. Very close to nature. If I am not mistaken, I counted 524 steps leading to the temple of Hilltop Murugan temple. Cant deny the cardiovascular exercise climbing the steps barefooted.A good place to unwind stress. Ample seating place and the floor is clean. A nice view of the sea at a distance from the temple.
After a tiring all hike up the stairs (mind you this temple seems to have more stairs than Batu caves), you would find a beautiful off white, almost yellowish temple with one of the most beautiful interiors. Also, the view of penang from the top of the temple makes the whole hike simply worth it!
First time going up to the new temple right to the top. Beautiful temple with large doors everywhere . The ceiling mandala s are a sight to see . Beautiful and sometimes informative and evocative.
Actually the main deity of this temple is Lord Muruga but when you search for penang waterfall temple this navigate to the temple in down and is for Lord Ganesha temple. He is my Favorite and Powerful God. If your prayer and love is true, surely He will help your dreams comes Real
One of the 2nd most divine temple next to Batu Caves. Higher with over 500 steps and beautiful
The temple is surrounded by natures ambiences.. A wonderful feeling every time when we are at the Penang Waterfall Hill Balathandayuthapani Temple.. Can really feel the vibration & energy at the temple.. Gives us peace of Mind with the blessing of the Almighty Lord Murugan..
Its one of the famous temple in Malaysia organizing the biggest Indian festival for Lord Murugan ๐คฉ๐คฉ๐คฉ
Beautiful but 500 steps in the heat out the day was a challenge
Really great Temple when a long flight of stairs to get up to. Personally I really enjoyed the climb but it is pretty long so others may not. The temple at the top isnt very big but its definitely a cool place to visit. Highly recommend.
Nice place. Have to take 513 stairs to reach the top of the temple. Good luck
Penang first hindu temple on the hill...Indian Malaysian Thaipusam Festival will celebrate here
