Aleea Peleșului 2, Sinaia 106100, Romania, Slobozia
Neo-Renaissance residence of King Charles I with a museum of national heritage artifacts.
So beautiful. I think this was way better than Bran castle as the inside was well kept and the outside had a certain charm to it. Go in the fall—the gardens are lovely along with the forest views which gets you in the Halloween spirit. Also would recommend the cafe near it, the coffee pizza and the eclairs were so good!
The place is beautiful inside out and worth the visit. The only issue is they make you pay double and triple to visit other sections. It should be one ticket to visit the castle.
Beautiful castle and amazing artwork , architecture. Unfortunately was unable to go in because it was closed. The garden is filled with stunning sculptures and the landscape is stunning. I highly recommend to visit this place.
Super rewarding experience. The structure is imposing and elegant, while the inside is majestic. Very instructive tour. I visited up to the first floor.Bring cash since the ticket office has terrible connection and I was unable to pay by card. There is an atm that charged me 10% fee (super high)
Nice to see. Mine was a whistle stop tour. If you are in a hurry it is also possible to see it the ground floor only in 30mins. I had read somewhere that the ground floor is the main bit and the others floors and rooms could be missed if you are short on time. Unfortunately for me I was short on time so this is what I did.
It’s very beautiful castle that should be visited if you are in Bucharest or Brasov as it’s not far. Even you can go by fast train from Bucharest for 1h 30min. There are 3 type of tickets: historical room - 50 Lei , 1st floor including historical room - 100 Lei and 2nd floor including the previous as well for 150 Lei. In my opinion it’s better to buy a ticket for all sections (don’t pay attention that it’s mentioned that for 1st and 2nd floor there is a tour - it’s just not explained well for tourists). We regret that we was not aware about that and bought just 50 Lei ticket … After ticket purchase you might wait on the line to enter the castle. Pictures are allowed everywhere without flash. In the weekend is overcrowded so if you have a chance to visit in during the week it would be better.
The opulence and beauty of the architecture is unbelievable! There are so many beautiful pieces and designs to look at It would take years. I would recommend a tour but if you cant just learn more about King Ferdinand before you go and it will give you some history of the castle
In the touristic city of Sinaia you can find this beautiful ‘900s castle where the king used to live. There are 3 levels that you can visit and each cost 50 lei (€10). I paid for all, as per it was my first time there, but I would not recommend as it is overpriced. Just do the ground floor, where all the main things are and good photos could be taken. It doesn’t last long to do all levels but not worth it. Around the castle you can find nice spots as well for Instagram content.
When the castle is closed you can still walk the grounds. On Tuesday was only able to visit the first floor and it was awesome. Skip Bran Castle 🏰 and come here!
Delightful chateau placed in the heart of nature. Interior of this building is really really magnificient. It´s worth to visit and you will be nicely surprised if you didn’t have expectations, or you were without knowledge as well. Fingers crossed for your lives🤝🤠
Probably one of the most beautiful castles in Romania. It is worth a visit, so if you are planning to stay in Bucharest or Brasov, then, it is a must in your itinerary. You can come from Bucharest by train to Sinaia, although you have to walk from there to the castle and it will take you half an hour. Taking a tour from Bucharest is easy and comfortable and you will get directly to the castle. If you are going to buy the tickets online, pay attention to the opening days, as optional tours I and II are only available from Wednesday to Sunday. It is a small castle compared to other in Europe but it is stunning! A regular visit can take you 45 minutes if you are in a guided tour and 20 minutes of you are going to visit the castle in your own.
Very nice castle to visit.Be ready to have cash on you as the museum doesn’t accept card for parking and museum tickets. You will find some ATM’s inside the museum premises however they will charge you high fees. So bring cash. The castle is very beautiful and nice to see however be prepared to walk a lot before reaching the entrance. Depending if you pay the parking on the castle or not you will even walk more.Even from the castle parking you will walk 15-25 minutes at a normal speed. So if you have health issue, better to take good shoes and be ready for the walk.Inside the castle you should pay more to visit the above levels. The normal ticket price includes only the basement floor, you need to pay more to accès floor 1 and a bit more to access floor 2.I recommend the visit especially if you never went there. This is a good stop on your way to Brasov
Disclaimer: I didnt enter the castle.Review is based on the outside look. Just impressive! Especially at sunset, so beautiful and much less crowded.
In my view this is the best castle to visit when in Romania. I know Bran is more famous, but this one is more beautiful and you get much better picture opportunities.Full of history and 1sts you will not regret coming here. Reserve about 1- 1.5 hrs for the tour, take all 3 stories and 30 min for a coffee with a view to the castle.
I don’t understand how someone can doubt if this castle is better than bran. This one is incredible. The interior of it, the decoration, everything is astonishing. Most probably the best thing I saw in my life.I regret buying only the first floor but it was more than enough.
A very nice Castle in the middle of Hills/Mountain and nature. Really loved the walk and the visit inside the Castle. I only regret to visited partially the Castle. In fact ,you can choose to visit only One floor, two or three floors and the ticket gas obviously different prices, so i would advise to take the full visit
One of my favorite castle in Europe! Simply so beautiful! And its worth visiting inside as well. It gets really crowded in peak season. Get there early!
Amazing castle full of history. Very nice to visit for a couple of hours.Parking available close by for 20 lei (5 euro ).Definitely recommend
We had prepared ourselves to wait for up to 2 hours due to previous reviews but they seemed to have cut the timings down. The queuing system was a little confusing but we asked for some help (with some help from Google translate and quickly got to grips with what we were doing). The castle is beautiful. It goes on for longer than we expected and so many things to see and admire. The place is beautiful and I cannot recommend visiting here highly enough.
Amazing castle. The best by far from 🇷🇴. It really worth being visited. The staff very user friendly. You cannot buy online tickets yet. I hope they will fix this soon
Absolutely magnificent, part of history of Romania, impressive architecture with top innovation for 18th century: central heating with A/C, elevator, retractable roof also first central vacuum cleaning system all powered by an hydro electrical power plant.Definitely worth visiting and recommend to have the guided tour.
Absolutely stunning building made better by a well organised visit system that includes information boards in every room in 5 languages. Very interesting historical weapon collection. Shouldnt be missed
The most beautiful castle i have ever visited. Both the exterior and interior are breathtaking. Highly recommend getting the full ticket or atleast the ticket for the second floor. The castle is very well preserved and the details in every room are absolutely gorgeous. A must visit if you go to Romania.
A very disappointing experience. After we bought a parking permit for 5 Euros and received no ticket or other proof of payment, we walked up to the castle. A long way with no resting places, no benches, or other possibilities to sit down and rest.Outside the castle, in the surrounding area, some buildings are better looking than others. You can immediately see that the restaurants and cafes are somehow limited to price, offer, and space.Positive: it is a national cultural treasure built by the Romanian nation, now re-owned by the former royal family who used to rule the country.Negative: the administration of this place with all the sides and effects of such lousy management.Suggestions: the entry ticket should include in the price the entire castle and not just a part. You have to pay more than double to visit the other sections, which is wrong.Recommend: it depends! If you havent visited it before, yes, you should see it. If you did, dont mess up your good memories.
Ive never been impressed by a castle, but I was impressed here. Straight out of a fairytale. So lavishly decorated and everything had so much detail. The mountains around the castle complex are beautiful as well. A must visit in Romania.
The Peleş Castle is a big castle filled with secrets and history. Its recommended to find a tour there (with a guide to uncover the mysteries. We bought tickets for 50 Lei (approximately 10 Eurosand its well worth it.The place can be very crowded, so keep that in mind, theres no accessibility for wheelchairs.
Fantastic place, a castle like from a fairytale. It is called Neuschwanstein of Romania, and that is no exaggeration. When you go inside take all options, it is worth the money. An absolute must when you are in Romania!
This is the most beautiful castle in Romania. After all it was a royal residence and the first castle to have electricity in Europe. If you visit Romania do not miss this one.
The Castle in its self is beautiful, from what we saw! There are some things though that really spoiled the visit for me.As soon as you approach there is a guard of sorts, that told us that there was a car park further up which costs 25 lei about £4.50 but they only accept cash. I mean come on we are in the 21st century and after the pandemic everybody uses POS. If you can park in the area do so because its not worth the hassle, as you still have to walk a 1km or 1.6 miles to the castel. That was not the worst part. When we got to the ticket house, we were told that we could only visit the first floor which was a huge disappointment for me, as we were only there for one day. When we checked the official website there was no mention of this just that it was open as usual. Now if it stated on the website its obviously not clear enough otherwise no one would go for just one floor, especially since we were told by the staff that we hadnt seen anything, the other floors are more impressive. In conclusion the first floor was amazing in terms of what was on display and the architectural structure of the building was incredible for its time! I can only imagine what the other floors look like! All the staff where so nice, polite and helpful! My advice to anyone going is to make sure all floors are available to see and pay the 150 lei it is well worth it. For us its going to cost a total of 200 lei per person if we want to go again to see everything. Finally a big thank you to all the lovely staff!"Mulțumesc"
The castle is nice but very badly organised. There are no instructions and signs for parking, just private parks trying to rope you in.Full of illegal street vendors inside the castle grounds and also beggars. The outside could do some rework.Bad food and drink options at the restaurant. In recommend public parking at the top of the hill if you find spots.
We visited last year, 2021. And today we just walked through the park. It is a very beautiful castle, a national monument, built for the first king of Romania, Carol I of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen. It is spectacular, definitely worth seeing. As I said, we visited the inside of the castle last year, during the second year of the pandemic, so no people other than us.Today however, the queue was enormous, somewhere around 100-150 people.Pros: National monument, extremely beautiful. Spectacular view of the mountain.Cons: Chinese and German tourists, a long queue, 5€ parking although the parking is very close to the castle, but you can park somewhere in the city and take a bus near to a station near the castle, or just hike towards it.(first photo is from today, 2022, the others are from last year)
if you are in Romania you must see this amazing palace which consider one of the most beautiful palaces i saw in my life.the architecture, Decoration, wood art , painting and status every thing make me feel like im in ferry story specially with the nice nature around this place.it was great experience and even for me one time not enough to visit this place.
The most amazing, splendid Romanian castle built by king Carol I, in a picturesque mountain scenery. All floors are worth visiting... The furniture and design are exquisite.
Exquisite palace which benefits from being built at the end of age of palaces, so it had the advantage of picking and choosing from a variety of styles and aesthetics.Three levels of tour:The ground floor contains the "official" rooms for greeting guests, dignitaries, etc.The first floor is comprised of rooms used for personal tasks and diversions (offices, salons. music rooms, dining, etc.).The second floor is where the residential quarters are.
Great castle full of original furnishings, not a very old one so its in perfect condition.Parking is 25 lei and admission is 50 lei per person for basic tour.Even early on a Wednesday it was very crowded and since it has small walkways inside it can feel very crowded.
Nice baroque style, nice rooms from the kings time. Nice garden view. But sovetic horrible toilets and expensive tickets for each floor !We travel some hours to see this place. BUTIts disappointing. Awaiting more. Many tourists. Some personal lady was agressive.Recommendation to make renovation WC and use modern security system instead many workers.Best wishes
An absolutely majestic castle as if plucked from Romanian folklore itself. The image attached, although otherworldly, does not do the scenery true justice. I would also recommend continuing the hike up to the peak which also offers stunning views.
Absolutely stunning! The setting and the castle itself are incredible. Not to miss when visiting Transilvania. Price very reasonable but the car park quite expensive to be honest.
An absolutely amazing piece of architecture and interior design. I would recommend taking full advantage and getting the overall tour. They are still doing self tours which is fine as you can go at your own pace. There are plenty of placards places around the rooms for English, Spanish, French and Italian. Each describing the room and the history behind it.Plus the town of Sinaia is a small but beautiful mountain town nestled just below the palaces. A great break from the hustle of Bucuresti. Only a couple hour train ride which takes you through some of the most beautiful countryside and mountains they have.
Beautiful castle! This is a must see if you go to Transylvania or even Romania in general!I would really recommend having a guide because there is just so much to see and learn about the history. We literally spent hours here and could easily have spent more.
Amazing castle, price at the moment for Adults to see all three levels is 150 lei , 75 lei for pensioners and 32.5 lei for children. There are stairs to climb so wheelchair users can access only ground floor. ( can purchase tichet for only one floor). It is definetly worth visiting, no tour guide but the on site staff is very polite and helpful.
A must see when in Romania. Magnificent Palace in the middle of wonderful nature.Nice history as well (although shortly livedand the decoration inside is brilliant. I liked the main hall with the great combination of marble, woodwork and carpeta. Also, the huge mirrors are pretty impressive for their time.I only did the short tour (no extra roomsbut I think it was sufficient.
Just wow, a piece of absolute beauty and architectural history. One of the most beautiful castles ever built. One of the must see locations in Romania
Mid 19-th century castle, one of the best and well preserved monuments of Romanian monarchy. The site alone is breathtaking, you can walk to the castle through a natural forest or by car from the town but less interesting. The building is full of handmade art, you can spend days looking at all the exponates. Its just an amazing place
This is definitely the most amazing and castle in Romania. Its a must see if you visit this country. It has a lot of beautiful details and furniture. The downside is that some rooms are not open like the theater room which is amazing in pictures, and the fact that most descriptions are not translated in English and other languages
Beautiful place, with interesting story. But does not look like Romania, looks like Bavaria, but it worth visiting. From my point of view Bran’s Castle is better, it really looks like a medieval castle.
Great place to visit, best or one of the best palaces of Romania, very well maintained. The visit of the gardens and a small exterior courtyard is free of charge and it is worth the walk from the center, also bus service for 40 euro cents. Interior closed on Mondays-Tuesdays. Be aware that at the entry of the gardens there is an Euronet ATM that will rip you off with high fees, there is another branch ATM just in the castle. 31.01.2022
When you get to Sinaia there are a few attractions you have to see, and at the top of that list is the Peles Castle. This is the best preserved Castle in Romania, full of pieces of art and medieval weapons. Most of the walls and ceilings are hand carved in rare woods, a real work of art in itself.
One of the most beautiful castles Ive ever seen. Spectacular interior and surroundings as well. Definitely worth visit and Id prefer this one over the Bran castle if you short in time. One thing that seemed a lil odd is that as soon as you enter the castle and take a pic with your phone the staff asks for 35 lei for a permission to do that. I dont mind paying a few euros more but theres no signs about this extra fee when you buy a ticket 🤔 Plus theres no receipt given for such service. Looks a bit shady. It should be changed.
If youre a lazy person (like I was), you can pay 25ron to park the car closer to the castle or you can try and find parking on the street and walk up. I only visited the courtyard and garden. Because of covid, there is a limited number of people that can go inside, so you have to wait longer than usual.Gorgeous castle!
