Pebble beach - Park and Garden in Marathon, Canada
Quiet in the mornings. Great to see the sun rise!
More like the size of bowling balls! Great view from the parking spot. Short hike to the beach level. Dog went for a swim. Not very sunbathing worthy but worth the trek down!
Nice beach with colorful pebbles.
It’s a beautiful beach! A 2 km stretch of huge stones of different colours caused by the waves and shifting ice.
Great place to skip rocks and just explore a Stoney beautiful beach
Beautiful beach, but more like Rock Beach and you can swim too!😁
What a view! Big round stones on beach. Not pebbles as you would suspect. But once youre in the water swimming, theres nothing but sand on the bottom!
Great place to pull off ... rest the night and view the beaches..
Beautiful! Water is kinda stinky this time of year but its still nice
On the way to Thunder Bay we stopped at Marathon for lunch. We found Pebble Beach which is a wonderful park for a picnic where you can enjoy breathtaking scenery and walk along the beach. Totally relaxing.
This has to be one of the top 10 hidden gems in Ontario! A short steep walk to the beach from the parking lot, definitely worth the drive to Marathon.
Excellent place to stop for a picnic. The Beach is exactly as the title suggests all pebbles but they get smaller as you get into the water. There is a parking area that can accommodate a few cars and several trailers. There are a few picnic tables up above the beach on a grassy section of land perfect to stop and eat and still enjoy the views of the water. It wasnt that busy when we stopped.
Beautiful and long waterwashed stone beach. Entrances are a tad steep so be careful. Nice view from the top as well.
Amazing few on the beach!! You can barking there and see the beautiful place, amazing on the morning and evening
Nice place to visit, take a little trek to see some beautiful pebbles with serene sounds of the river as there will not be a lot of people. Had a great time swimming too. Do give it a try!!
Not a beach to lay out on but very clear clean water. Pretty cool to see how round a smooth the rocks get!
What a pretty beach with some awesome hiking trails! Even on a dull day it was nice to sit and hear the waves crashing!
Great spot to park with a beautiful view. Rest on your TCH 17 journey. Or venture down to Pebble Beach.
Beautiful spot with an incredible view of Lake Superior. It is absolutely beautiful place to take in the sunset.
Amazing place to visit! Don’t forget to bring water shoes, it is quite difficult to walk on the rocks and pebbles. Water is very clean.
This beach is incredibly beautiful!!! The rocks are a bit hard to walk on but the crystal clear water and sheer number of incredibly beautiful rocks make up for it.
Awesome picnic spot. Beautiful view of Lake Superior. Very different from most beaches, pebbles are quite big, and lots of drift wood. Clean portapotty for washroom breaks. Picnic tables and benches to take in the view.
Pebble Beach in Marathon offers an amazing view of Lake Superior. There is a big parking lot with public restrooms, garbage cans and hiking trails. Please note that the rocky beach itself isnt a good choice for hiking or swimming activities.
Loved it and will visit again with friends as soon as we can next year. ❤❤❤
Excellent beach with beautiful pebbles.
Pebbles! Of all shapes and sizes. There is a light sandy downhill to the beach. You can get a nice view of some red sanded shore in the distance. There are nice picnic benches for lunch and a clean toilet. A good detour on the Trans Canada highway.
Very impressive! Its a bit hard to find it and then walk on the pebbles, but its definitely worth the trouble!
Gorgeous scenery and picnic area
It was fantastic its a great place to relax and take it all in
This is picturesque spot to watch the sun set, read a book or just relax in the car and listen to tunes. The beach is relatively easily accessible and youd be wise to wear shoes that have good ankle support if you do decide to venture down to the pebbled beach. In the summer months there are picnic tables and theres a little playground nearby for your little ones.If you so visit this spot, please take care to dispose of your garbage in the bins provided to help keep beach and parking area clean and pretty for other visitors.
Very calm and beautiful place..
Super unique beach! I have never seen a beach with only pebbles. But some pebbles may be insecure and don’t wear slippers if you are going there.
Beautiful, quiet little beach in Marathon. They recently put new benches which are a big plus to go sit there in the summer. To get down to the beach, just walk towards the far left end and there is a trail there - someone had to show it to me or I wouldn’t know it’s hidden back there.
Pebble Beach (in Marathon, Onhas the perfect Lake Superior pebbles/rocks and driftwood. You can watch the sunset from the parking lot or walk down to the beach and make inukshuks by balancing the rocks. It is so peaceful to sit and listen to the waves. In the winter, the area gets quite slippery, so venture down carefully. The icy formations made by the waves and the way the water freezes on the rocks is beautiful.
A must stop when driving the North shore of lake Superior. The trail is Sandy so becareful but its well worth the walk down to the beach. Kids loved it too. Its free to visit too which is excellent.
Peaceful area to stretch or do yoga (above), or simply admire mother nature.
It was an awesome view but sort of hard to find. We didnt go all the way to the beach though because its at the bottom of a cliff.
Beautiful beach on Lake Superior. Walked my dog along the shore for over an hour.
Beautiful little spot, really peaceful when the waves are coming in. Just be careful during winter cause all of the shots pebbles are frozen and slippery as heck!!
This is an extensive area along the beach of the great lakes and it contains pebbles of different colours and qualities strewn along it. All along the coast of the great lakes this phenomenon is present and every town along the coast displays boards like the ones in Marathon. Please do not remove the pebbles , leave them for the generations to enjoy. I happened to travel from Barrie to Thunderbay on an occasion and enjoyed by stopping along the beach several times.on another occasion from thunder bay to Chicago along the shore to the extent possible. Please do try.
Correction! It should be rocks not pebbles! Rocks are big, you need good shoes to walk around. The sound of the rocks created by the waves is magical! Excellent panorama lookout too!
Camped here overnight. View is breathtaking especially at sunset
Beautiful beach. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes though as the hill down to the beach is very steep and it is uncomfortable to walk on the rocks (though very smoothwith sandals.
Stopped here for lunch and to take the dogs for a walk. I also found a geocache here. The dogs loved playing in the water.
Great view. Awesome area. Worth the drive off the highway to see it
2 km of pebbled beach just as the names says it. Sandals a must, Lake Superior calm and the sun setting was beautiful
Great place to go watch the sun set on Lake Superior. Youll feel like youre at the Ocean.Pebbles of all sizes, colours and shapes. Relatively easily accessible.
A lovely place to stop and stretch your legs on a long travel day. Very peaceful with beautiful BIG pebbles of all colours. Humbling to think of the powerful wave action that was needed to create them!!
Must see! Very unique natural phenomena. Large perfectly smooth pebbles (I would say rocks, not pebblescover the whole beach. Walking is a challenge, so where sturdy shoes! Definitely worth the journey off the highway.
We were looking for a rocky beach. My sone loves to throw rocks in the water. This is the best yet on the superior.
