Zoo specialising in bird collections and with small mammals including rare warty pigs and meerkats.
Had an amazing day here last week whilst on holiday with a couple of friends.I have holidayed at Ilam many years and never came across this gem of a place. We visited on Saturday after seeing that the weather was going to be a bit better than expected. We visited the Red Squirrels, where we were used as a climbing frame by one - an incredible experience. We then went to the Wallabies, where the colder weather had meant they were a bit more reluctant to come and see us. Luckily, a lovely lady called Debs (who works at the Parkcame in to refresh their hay and gave us some carrot to feed them with. This meant we were able to get close to them and really interact with them.We then went to the Lemur walkthrough, where we were once again used as a climbing frame, this time by a Ring-Tailed Lemur. Another unforgettable experience that just made the day incredible. They have various talks throughout the day - the penguins weren’t keen on participating in the talk, but it was interesting nonetheless! The young lady doing the tapir talk was great and you could tell she had a real connection with the animals (which was clear with all the keepers here). The food and drink on offer is decent - bubble waffles were tasty and reasonably priced. The gift shop is also reasonable and well stocked.A big thank you to Debs for making the experience even more amazing. You really did help us create some memories we will never forget.Would recommend a visit to Peak Wildlife Park to anyone!
A lovely place full of different animals. Loved the walk through with the lemurs, wallabies and red squirrel. Even had a red squirrel jump up our leg!! The animals look happy and healthy and the keepers seem to know their stuff. Listened to a talk about lemurs and tapirs. We were there for about 2 hours which was enough time to see each animal as was quiet around. My husband had a bubble waffle which he enjoyed. Would definitely recommend a visit here and would love to return if ever near again.
Hidden gem of a place. Really unique in that youre able to walk in with the animals which everyone loves. The food is lovely and reasonably priced and theres plenty of picnic places around the park. Theres a huge bouncy castle and climbing frame for the kids, which again is surrounded by picnic benches so plenty of chance for adults to have a rest while the kids blow off some steam. Definitely worth a visit, highly recommend.
Lovely family day out. You are able to walk around with the animals in their enclosures, we had a brilliant time.
Wow. Wow. Wow. What an amazing little gem that we found!!! Its our new fave lil place for a day visit . Staff are lovely prices are fab and the penguins... well its perfection
My 5 year old did the mini zoo keeper experience here and he absolutely loved it. The staff were really friendly and patient with him, and even let my three year old join in at parts, even though he wasnt strictly part of the experience. The rest of the park is wonderful with a nice selection of animals, and the large play area was a big hit. A perfect size to make your way around without feeling like you need to rush to see everything like some larger attractions. Overall it was a great day out and I especially recommend the experience days. We will likely be back in a year or so when my youngest is old enough to do them.
What a wonderful day. May sister and daughter had previously visited several years ago and it was wonderful to see how far the park has developed. We went around to visit all the animals and had such amazing experiences. We were most excited to stroke and feed the wallabies. All the staff we met were helpful, polite and informative.
What a great place to visit. Fantastic for the kids to see and walk with some of the animals. Its. Lot bigger than you think. Very good cafe with a wide selection of food served by very efficient and friendly staff. Well worth a visit!
Well presented and well staffed wildlife park / zoo. Unlike other similar attractions you can get up close to most of the animals at staged and guided sessions led by the knowledgable staff. There is a good variety of Food on site, we went all out for the really tasty thin crust stone baked pizzas and bubble waffles, ice creams and drinks. Kids had juices and we had a good quality tea and coffee. Red squirrel feeding was an informative session and the kids got to see these illusive and rare creatures up close. Recommended.
Very nice park with incredible staff. The keepers were a joy to speak with. Being able to get face to face with a lemur was a highlight, but the bubble waffles are worth a visit as well!
This was Such a Brilliant place. And Im definitely 100% going again.. The shops and cafés are abit pricey but its understandable and you can see where and what the money as gones on too and every animal is clean and Happy.. I give this place 100% the two people are me and my true soulmate.. Follow me for more places....
A good half day out in a scenic location. You are able to walk through animal enclosures and interact at farly close quarters with animals like penguins, limas, wallabies. You can pay to have more personal experiences feeding them etc. However, here were a few enclosures where we saw no creatures at all. The Red Squirrels for example so they were obviously hiding somewhere! My son did get to stroke a wallabee which was enjoyable. The staff were helpful and friendly and monitored each enclosures closely. It was very well organised. There was a great play area with a massive bouncy castle thing included in price. The cafe was quite expensive, we thought.Lots of cute stuff in gift shop.Toilets fine.Worth a visit if you have children who like animals and you are fairly local.
The place is suitable to spend a whole day wondering around, relaxing, eating. We went on a day with high temperature and we found different places in the shadow, they have a place where you can sit and order food:such as pizza, sandwiches, ice-cream, cold drinks or you can bring your own. You can also have juice for kids and fruits piures for babies(Ellas kitchen). There is possibility to walk through and feed the animals, however there is schedule for every species. You can see different types of goats, penguins, red squirrel, zebras, deers, meerkats, kemurs, wallabies, Giant Sulcata Tortoise and Giant Rabbit, etc. Enjoy!
Lovely medium sized wildlife park. Plenty to see for all ages. Lots of picnic spots in the main park itself. Toilets a bit lacking only portaloos in the main park dotted about. In the area by the entrance these a fab shop (not overly priced either), cafe, amazing pizzas, lots of space to eat outside and a smaller inside area for eating plus normal toilets youd expect and theres a fab outdoor play area on the other side of the park. We spent a good 5 hours here and could of spent more if we had stopped for lunch and to let the kids play in the playarea. Great day out and not overly priced either.
One of the best days out for a while! We had 2 animal experiences as a treat for my daughters birthday and had a great time walking the pigs and feeding the Lemurs. The zoo isnt huge but I loved that you can walk in the enclosures with so many animals. You get so close to them
Had a beautiful day at the wildlife park. Very friendly staff and lovely animals. Absolutely delicious food and wonderful gift shop. Plenty to see and do for kids.
A really nice day out, plenty of great, up close animal experiences that most importantly don’t compromise the welfare of the animals. Feeding the wallabies was a special experience that we really enjoyed as a family of 3 adults. No time limit in the walkthrough enclosures and the animals are protected by both vigilant staff and separate protected areas to escape to if wanted. Lemur walkthrough equally special, especially at feeding time. Meerkats entertaining and able to get close to them. Lots of staff around caring for the animals and constantly cleaning. A real happy vibe and a sense of investment in the animals. Prices reasonable for entry and refreshments.
Lovely afternoon at Peak Wildlife Park, a really well organised place with lots of picnic/seating areas available. The animals were really well looked after, particularly the penguins! Staff were all friendly and answered any questions people had
Kids 6, 8 and 11 had a great time. Nice being able to walk around the enclosures and the chance to feed some of the animals
Great experience for the money. Some enclosures are TBC although this wasnt highlighted. We spent 15 minutes looking for red squirrels in the new walk through only to find a sign in a small enclosure near the lemurs that they were moving to the new walk through soon.We were able to feed wallabies and saw zebras, deer, penguins, alpacas, sheep, goats, otters, rabbits etc. Theres an outdoor bouncy castle and an indoor play area with seats, as well as a coffee shop.
We took our two pre-school infants for a day out, to show them the wonder of animals that they would be very unlikely to encounter normally. The facilities and range of animals are basic - the proprietors and assistants are clearly enthusiasts who have built up the business. The animals are limited in number, as are the amenities. However, dont let this put you off visiting, as this means you are able to get very close to them and some you are able to safely pet. Several schools were present and, as a retired teacher, I have no doubt that their experiences will be of immense value. I would recommend any parents of young children to put this on their itinerary list.
Our 1st visit and well definitely be back. We did the mini keeper day for my daughter and goddaughter. Tammy and Josh the keepers made it amazing. We meet meerkat, Jack the giant tortoise, lemurs (just 6 of the worldwide 112 varietiesand Vietnamese deer. After that we went around the zoo to see all the other amazing animals.Great experience for a 5 and 6yrs old girls, an experience theyll never forget. The zoo is a lovely size plus has a great play area and huge bouncy castle, all included with the entrance price.
A big free car park. Disabled access and easy parking for families. An entrance cost, tickets can be bought onsite. Great facilities really. A cafe, the pizzas are abit pricey if you have a large family but really delicious!A range of wildlife , easy to get close and interact woth the animals. A bouncy castle and play area on site. Loads of areas to sit or have a picnic. I would recommend taking one,if your budgeting. An enjoyable place to visit and spend 3-5 hours.
Really lovely little Wildlife park, we missed the penguin walk and other things and it was quite quiet when we arrived but the animals were still vocal and lovely nonetheless. We had the opportunity to feed the Meerkats which was my favourite part :I can imagine this is great when youve got kids (which I havent)
Great interactive 1/2 day out, plenty of animals to look at and some you can interact with and touch. The feeding times are good as you are guaranteed a good show and talk about the animals feeding habits and habitat. The penguin feeding time is particularly entertaining. With a cafe, play barn and gift shop its a great place to take young kids. Outdoor and up close to nature so go prepared. You can pop back and forth to the car if you need to.
Visited in December, Christmas eve 2019. I had my holiday in the area and not too many things were open that time of the year, but it was even on Christmas eve. Unfortunately, the weather was not the best, but anyway I did not want to waste a day, so I headed to the wildlife park. It wasnt busy for sure, due to the day and weather. Indeed the weather caused that most of the animals were in their safe home being invisible to visitors, so at the end of my visit I felt a bit unlucky in this regard. The park is not too big and so I really walked around within a half an hour, then I repeated it a few more times waiting if i will have some luck with some little creature. It is a nice little place by the way and children especially enjoyed, so good spot for families if they spend their time in the area.
We really enjoyed our visit. A lot of interactions with the lovely animals, my 1 yo daughter was so happy and excited, I would definitely come back. The park is set with children in mind, a lot of facilities, indoor and outdoor palyarea and staff always ready to help and facilitate your visit. I recommend it.
The best part is you can go into their territory unlike other farms. Guides are almost everywhere advising about their habitats. Beautiful countryside location, Well maintained- neat and clean, Friendly staff, ample car park..
What a brilliant find this was. You can get up close and almost personal with the animals. The penguins are really funny, we managed to see them having dinner. We got there for opening time and there was a queue but it moved quickly. By the time we left about 2, the car park was full.
Brilliant day out for all the family. The park has had so much care and love put into it and everything is set out with the kids experience in mind. Its a great size for little legs with lots to see to keep them (and the grown upsengaged. The pizza and coffee are delish too!
Nice afternoon spent visiting the Park. Good alternative setup where you can walk through the enclosures with some of the animals. Very friendly staff and quiet on the day we went which was preferred. Unfortunately you are always reliant on the animals making an appearance but quite a few enclosures appeared to be empty and we only saw a propartion of what was there. Cafe on site providing snacks and a quiet rest area to sit and eat. Overall a good day out.
Absolutely amazing. The keepers are very knowledgeable and love answering questions. The animals seem very pampered and loved by all the keepers. Will definitely visit again an absolute treat if you love interacting with animals
Peak Wildlife Park is full of surprises. Lemur walkabout was closed when we went so theyve given us free admission for our next visit! Really worth the admission price, can get super close due to the animal walkthroughs to penguins and wallabies, as well as friendly giant Flemish rabbits and goats.Volunteers and staff are very kind and helpful. Shop is also well priced. Worth spending a few hours there, youll be surprised what they have and how close they get to you!
lovely place, not a big place but theres plenty of animals and nice walk with the animals trails, my 7 year old loved it especially the wallabys. You could make a whole day of it with the various feeding times spread over the day, but in reality you could also be done in a couple of hours if you didnt want to wait for the feeding times. We went December time and it was raining and cloudy so probably not the best day, probably be better in the summer. I noticed an indoor play area so not sure if theyd offer kids parties but worth inquiring.
Still loving Peak Wildlife!Been a few times now and still enjoy the walk through experience. All of the animals are very friendly, placid, look very well looked after and the park is constantly being tended to by its many staff and volunteers.Went on our visit to see Santa set up in a beautiful teepee with lights, decorations and a log fire all so well decorated. A fab experience staff were very friendly and made the experience fab.Food and drink was good although pricey but you do expect that at these places! Again staff friendly and good quick service.Staff knowledge about the animals and very protective off them which is nice to see.A brilliant day out had by all.Things to note, although paths are accessible they can be uneven in places and some walk through parts dont allow buggy.Hand sanitising and washing stations are scattered around as are portaloos.Book onlineOrder food and collect to minimise queuing times.
Santa visit was excellent from arrival. The whole thing was perfect for our autistic kids, the teepee grotto is both large enough to make it suitable for their energy and small enough to keep it not too overwhelming. A great interactive day out, well worth theory especially for members 😀 👍
Great place to visit with the family.Staff are really friendly and helpful.Nice to be able to get up close to some of the animals without restricted views.Definitely go back.
Lovely day out for a small price, got there in time to watch the penguin feeding as the keeper was telling us more about each one of them, as we walked around we went into the wallaby section were a keeper handed out carrots to all who were visiting letting us feed the beautiful wallabies and joeys who are very friendly at no extra cost. Very much enjoyed the experience and all the staff were very friendly. Highly recommended
Visited Peak Wildlife Park today. Its a lovely little park. Very interactive. Can walk with the lemurs, wallabies and goats and stroke them all. Got there just in time for a penguin talk. The penguins were waddling down the path getting fed. Great place for little kids.
Had a wonderful afternoon visiting Peak Wildlife Park, sadly the weather was quite drizzly but we had a great time wandering round all the enclosures and introducing our boys to all the animals. They were particularly taken with the lemurs, wallabies, sika deer and the penguins and it was great to be able to get up close to them. We were present at a few of the animals feeding time and the staff were friendly and informative and happy to answer questions. We also took advantage of the indoor soft play area which the boys loved and it gave us a chance to enjoy a coffee. We are already planning our next visit!
Lovely day out. Not an overly large park so nice and easy for anyone who struggles with mobility. Paths are well maintained and clean. I think we were there for approximately 2-3hrs and this included stopping for food. There isnt much range on hot food but plenty of sandwiches, paninis and toasties available. Also lots of places spread around the park where you can stop to eat your own picnic. Good parking and easy to navigate for disabled people too from what I could tell.
This place is fantastic! Has some great animals and is set over a large area so lots of space for kids to run about and let off some steam. Bit confusing in the walk in enclosures as if the animals come up to u you cant help but stroke them and I was told off! Would be nice if u put a sign up in the entrance to these enclosures of dos n donts, just so u know, saw a lovely range of animals, and staff were great, really friendly. Would definitely go again!
What an amazing place to visit, put this place off for so many years and now regret it.Plenty to see and do, animals are amazing and it’s lovely the amount of walk thru’s that are available. The Penguins are amazing and will come up to you.Great for kids with a playground and an indoor soft play area.Good and drink available on-site but the team are very welcoming to picnics with plenty of places to sit around the park.
Amazing day out! Had a great time. Cant recommend this place highly enough. If you like animals you should definitely visit. Parking is free and entry fee is reasonable. Staff very pleasant, polite, helpful and knowledgeable. The park itself isnt huge but there are lots of animals to see, and a few play areas for little ones. The staff are constantly working to keep it clean and tidy. Lots of toilets, bins and benches. There is a gift shop with a good variety of souvenirs, a little expensive but they usually are. There is also a stall which sells food and drinks, again expensive. If money is a concern take a picnic. They have plenty of outdoor picnic areas, 1 under cover and an indoor picnic area near the gift shop. My children are teenagers and they loved it. Finding something we all enjoy is always a challenge. Saw lots of families with babies and young children. As there are animals roaming free dogs are not allowed.
Never heard of this place before my husband surprised me with tickets its a really beautiful place and the animals really seem to have plenty of room and are well looked after, really enjoyed walking around could definitely spend a few hours hear, plenty of benches around if you want to bring a picnic! You can go into most of the enclosures the Lemurs were fun and you can even feed the Wallabies!
This is one of our favourite places to visit as a family. Our children love to learn about all the animals that they see there and it is even better now theyve added more. They have an excellent selection of animals and the fact that you can walk amongst the animals and learn about them from their keepers is excellent. They do have a cafe however, we took a picnic, so can not comment on pricing. The gift shop is well stocked, and reasonably priced, with soft toys, gifts, etc. If your children fancy just having a play about there is an indoor and outdoor play area as well.It is well worth a visit, and we will always return again.
Ive been here with my baby grandson and another visit with my 13 year old daughter. I love it and they both loved it. Its not as big as a zoo and the animals arent as varied but its a cosier venue with animals and education. All of which is reflected in the price. Recommend for anyone looking for something to do with the kids, there is also a soft play area and a bouncy area and sand pit if the weather is dry. I prefer it later in the day so its quieter but still fun anytime.
Lovely day out at a reasonable price. Its not the biggest wildlife park but its really well presented. Plenty of enclosures and animals to see. A small indoor play area along with an outside bouncy castle for the kids to burn off some energy.
Lovely wildlife park with a lot of friendly animals the children can stroke and pet and sit next to. An absolute treat, our 3 year old loved it! Staff are all approachable, friendly and knowledgeable. After seeing all of the animals dont miss the childrens play area and bouncy castle! Its next to even more animals the little ones can pet but we almost missed it. We will certainly return here!
Nice and clean family friendly place. Although the entire staff seemed very young, they had really good customer service and were of a cheery disposition. Reasonably priced and managed to entertain our young family for the entire day even with the parks limited animals. Food at the park is very expensive but we were grateful that they were able to provide milk alternatives and also had a choice of vegan treats. Children enjoyed the animal talks and bouncy castle. We enjoyed watching the otters while the children played in the soft play and picnicking whilst watching the deer.Booked an arrival time slot and tickets online which were fairly straight forward and the park had lots of hand sanitising stations which was very good. However, the one way system was a waste of time as no one payed any attention to it and it was poorly marked. There was also an unsavoury odour coming from the back of food court which was off putting if you were eating around there.
