The food was so cold when it arrived. I placed my order at 10:04pm, it was ready at 10:20pm and I received it at 10:30pm. It should not have been as cold as it was. The garlic knot was inedible it was burnt and it was a garlic filled donut not a garlic knot. Cookies were also cold and not impressive at all even if they were meant to be cold. Disappointed.
This was GREAT pizza! I kept looking at the tables around me and thinking, ooh! I wanna try that one next!
pizza and pasta were amazing. staff was very friendly to help accommodate our party with kids.
Had the margarita pizza, the crust was thin with a good chew to the dough, sauce was average and overall was a little on the wet side.
They made us wait to order when there were barely any customers. Food is good. Liked the pizza. Waiters were not that friendly. Loved the garlic parmesan Pizza. They charge recovery fee 5%
I have enjoyed pizza from Pastoral many times. Tonight I ordered dinner from them through Toast and had it delivered to my home! It was fantastic! Ample portions, nice Pastoral touches in every item and the freshness was still great. The Octopus salad was terrific. The Caesar was solid and I loved the parmesan snow, white anchovy and homemade croutons. The half Bolognese was a very generous portion and the quality was very high. The mixed cookies were a wonderful way to finish our mini feast. Definitely ordering again!
We are trying to decide where to eat tonight. We are very familiar with Boston. Visit here often. I read about the 5% Covid charge. Just raise your prices! Your wait staff will get tipped better and customers will not get upset. We are probably going somewhere else tonight because of the 5%.Inflation is the problem now. Everyone is suffering.
Pizza was amazing! Crust was really delicious. Cocktails and salad were also top notch. Service was great and the pizzas came out super fast.
Had ordered a really good personal pepperoni pizza. A bit pricey for the small quantity. I thought mine had a bit too much crust.
We’re visiting from NYC so we’re a little spoiled. We decided to have dinner here just because it was hard to get a table anywhere else. We are in the restaurant now and we’re amazed at how friendly, hospitable and professional the staff is. The food is the best. Fine, fresh and real Italian. We’ll definitely will be back here.
Average food. Garlic bread with mozarella is not what you might expect. It was a ball which had full head of roasted garlic in one half and mozarella in the other. Vampires stay away ! Overall I would not give the 4.5 rating it has on google which is the reason we chose to eat there in the first place
Great place, great pizza and pasta. Pizza is thin, with a little crispy crunch on the bottom. Parking is hard to come by so take the T or park in one of the garages nearby.
Great pizza place. The pizzas tasted amazing. We are from out of town and found this place near our hotel. We enjoyed our meal.
While I understand the appeal for the neighborhood, its definitely not my kind of place. It tries too hard for a casual feel with elevated offerings, but I found the end result to be rather snobby. The food was alright, but didnt meet expectations. It may sound trivial, but the glassware was not appropriate and impacted the quality of drinks. The bar staff was too busy to make any connections and I felt like it was a "turn and burn" place where all that mattered was what I was spending, and what I was spending was not worth the experience.
We made reservations this past weekend and got lost on the way. We called and not only did they hold my table but they went above and beyond to make our experience the best!! The food was fantastic but I will go back for the exceptional customer service. Thank you for saving our night guys. We will be back!
The food is delicious!! There was also a good selection of yummy cocktails. Service was fast and the staff was nice.Tip: the wood fired pane (breadis pretty small! It’s one piece of bread about the size of a fist. It’s super delicious, but you may need more than one depending on your party size! We got 1 for 3 people and wished we got 2 instead.
Pastoral was a shot in the dark place for dinner. But the pizza was fantastic, the staff was friendly and the wait time was short. All in all a great time with great pizza!
Good pizzas! The best was the dough: well cooked, crispy on the outside while still tender inside! Value for money is ok! Looking forward to trying the panes next time!
Weirdest restaurant I’ve been to in the worst way. The menu was so weird, I hate to break it to you Todd but no one wants lemon pizza. The menu makes the place seem like a fancy restaurant, but it is way too casual. My grandmother was served wine in the same glass as the water which looked identical to the glasses in my lakehouse that hasn’t been renovated since the 80s. The waitress recommended an appetizer which we ordered but looked on the menu which said there was nuts. We tracked her down and asked her if there were nuts in the dish and she claimed there wasn’t, but there clearly was. And don’t get me started on the 5% covid charge, I’m positive that you are the only restaurant in Boston that does this, deal with covid like the other restaurants have. I’m pretty sure they added the charge to afford all the 5 star reviews he paid people to make. It wasn’t a big deal tho just do what we did and take 5% off the tip.
Popular spot. Staff are friendly and kind. Interesting pizzas on the menu. So glad they’re open late from Thursday.
We shared pizzas for 5. All choices were really good !
The crew was unprofessional… we saw our server when we ask for check! She never come. Someone else came and try to get our order. I order a cocktail but never get it. They forgot. At least we could eat something. We got chicken parm pizza. We loved it!
Really cool establishment and decor. The appetizers were killer and oh my goodness, their personal pizzas were absolutely to die for. I even got the gluten free crust veggie pizza with no cheese, and I can honestly say, its the best pizza crust Ive had since going gluten free! I almost couldnt believe it. The toppings were great, and it wasnt too dried out from not having cheese, absolutely perfect! The staff was very attentive too!
Ordered through ubereats & got someone else’s order. called Pastoral and they took blame saying it was their fault they switched the names on the orders. told us they were sorry and to contact ubereats because there is they nothing they can do. even though it was their fault? so now it was on us to fix their mistake? re-ordered through ubereats priority and 1hr later pizzas were still at their establishment. called to ask what happens if uberdrivers can’t pick up because now it’s been over 2 hours. the person who answered the phone was SO rude and passive aggressive and said it’s not their problem. customer service was a 0. never offered a gift card, never offered to get a manager, never offered to contact ubereats since THEY made the mistake. wasn’t even 1% nice about the situation. just an attitude. sad to see customer service go so down hill.
I couldn’t wait to try this menu and it did not disappoint! When you walk in, you can smell the fresh smoking firewood in the pizza ovens. The recipes and ingredients you can tell are carefully selected— the entire menu all throughout, from drinks to desserts, is so refined and the unique flavors just go so well together. The fresh homemade pasta was a step above the rest. I recommend the pine nut hummus and the wings, but everything was unreal!!!! Todd is a creative genius :I am a new fan and can’t wait to go back. (Gigi’s favorite course was dessert, clearly.)
Pizza was okay. The salad options should include a basic simple salad. The waitress seemed snooty. I wouldnt rush back.
Pizzas are delicious and they can accommodate any requirements that you have. The place is spacious, service is great and food came out quickly.
Best GF pizza Ive had in 10 years of being diagnosed with celiac! So fluffy and yummy of a crust 😋
Great place. Late night seating can be limited. Great bartenders and pizza was delicious
You will not be disappointed! This place is always a delight. Ambiance, good food and great drinks with a staff that is always pleasant. This place is a guaranteed good time.
I went to Pastoral for the first time with some friends on a Saturday night. The restaurant was packed and it was really noisy. It was hard to hear my friends speaking. The service was slow, but the staff were very friendly. I was impressed with the number of gluten free options (I am a Celiac). The gluten free pizza base was excellent but the pizza itself was a little bland. Portion sizes were good too. Overall, an average experience.
I went there with 2 friends and we ordered only pizzas with some beers and a spritz. The five cheese pizza was really good, as well as for margherita. The lemon pizza was too bitter, and when we reported this to the waiter (Jackhe said that the cook has too big hands so he couldnt dose the lemon. Yes, Im not joking, this is exactly what he said. Im sorry for this, but if he cant dose ingredients maybe this is not his right job.Further, they forgot soda in the cocktail, in fact it was not sparkling
We came late night around close so it was expected there would be some hiccups with our orders, but the service was great for the most part, 8.5/10. We order a garlic knot and a fire, margarita pizza, the garlic knot was a 10 out of 10 in my opinion probably the best Ive ever had and ever will. The margarita was a throw back classic 9/10. The beer selection while being non familiar was excellent 8/10 , but the negroni I was not a fan of to much citrus to the point it had a medical taste 4/10 , over all even with the cocktail this is still a 9.5/10. *ps also Awesome date spot.
Being back after 2 years due to worldcomplications. I was very excited that Pastoral was just as delicious as it was when I first had it years ago. The service was fast and articulate. To be able to be so efficient during a weekend when a trade show is in-town is a very great trait. Keep it up!
Had a wonderful dinner with family & friends tonight! Delicious and handmade food, drinks, & great service - would highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique dining experience.Favorites of the night:-pine nut hummus-eggplant fries-mezzi rigatoni w/ bolognese-dessert assortment (especially lemon sorbet & Peri’s cookie)
My flight got in at 11:30pm and I needed real food. Pastoral was here for me! Not only was the late night pizza amazing, their house ale was so perfect. Craft pizza and craft lagers ftw!
Very delicious food and great service. When we ordered garlic knots the waiter passionately explained that there was a similar version of the dish that was even better. He walked us through their process to make this dish starting from making the dough at 4am to pulling it out of the oven. Needless to say, we ended up going with his recommendation and were absolutely delighted with it! I will be coming back here whenever I am back in the area!
I had the Margarita d.o.c. It was an authentic Neapolitan pizza and was cooked for just the right amount time. Basil, tomato sauce and bufala mozzarella was fresh and delicious. Wood oven really makes a huge difference on pizzas and these guys know how to use it! I will visit again next time I’m in Boston.
Absolutely loved our dinner tonight at Pastoral! The whole evening was a unique tasting experience trying different tastes and textures that amazed the palate. The servers were attentive and knowledgeable and timed the whole meal perfectly. The dining area and outdoor area was clean and felt safe and had a great relaxed atmosphere. There were so many unique dishes that it was hard to choose and already planning our next trip to order options we did not get to try this time. Summer special sweet corn pizza with heirloom tomatoes was fantastic as was the watermelon salad, garlic knot with roasted garlic and the olives!!!!! I cannot forget the pine nut hummus. We shared a bolognese that was exactly what it should be with the perfect ratio of meat and sauce and pasta. The watermelon sorbet tied up the meal perfectly. Make your reservation today!!
When I saw prosciutto on a pizza menu I just had to try it. Was not expecting it to be SMOTHERED in it. Very surprised, very happy. Pizza was delicious, bartender was very courteous. The ambiance was great with the doors open for fresh air, and the music playing was great. Phenomenal restaurant. Cant wait to visit again!
A very solid 4 stars. The pasta is very good but on the heavier side. The service is excellent. There is a very good local beer selection. The trillium begonia skies sour beer is a favorite. Tables are far apart so it is easy to have a conversation I have not tried the pizza but based on the bread Stix starter it is probably excellent. Affrogato dessert is yummy.
Good service. Great pizza. Had the three onion which was great. Remember to ask for the chili oil. Great rotation of beers as well. They had Trillium on tap! Would definitely return.
Leaving a review after eating from there multiple times and was overall enjoyable experience. The garlic knots were definitively worth trying out and the food options were all good. The pizzas themselves looks delicately well made and very flavourful. Staff were friendly and helpful overall.Dont make my mistake and eat their garlic knots cold tho - just dont ;).
This place is within walking distance of the tea party museum and has delicious pizzas! My son and I shared one for lunch but the crust isnt very thick. One adult could easily eat the whole thing if hungry.
The food at Pastoral is amazing! They have interesting choices and from what we got at the table they were all delicious. The service was also fast and very friendly. There’s also a nice beer menu. Will definitely come back to try something new!
The calamari was worth every cent! They have give you an entire bowl loaded which was lightly breaded giving a nice crisp to every bite. not a single piece in the bowl was just breaded crisps without squid as you find in many other restaurants. Top it off the calamari came with roasted kale, tomatoes, mushrooms, lemons, which added great blend of flavors. I am personally from buffalo NY and were full of restaurants that serve calamari, but I have to say that Pastoral tops them all. Oh and there pizza was good too, had the fennel sausage, love the lightly charred crust that added a good smoky flavor. So I dont usually do reviews so I have a picture of it already half eaten🤤
Pretty good but the flatbread was bland - not enough cheese! Nice interior design but the place was pretty busy and loud. Would come again but maybe earlier in the day. Fun place to take friends and conveniently located.
Really nice looking place, in an old but perfectly renovated building. The staff is friendly and efficient. The food was tasty and the drinks were perfect. We ordered a couple of pizzas (napolitana and funghi), the napolitana was awesome, the funghi was a bit on the sweet side, but still delicious. The craft beer and the cider we tried were incredible! The prices are a bit high, but still worth it.
Very rusty feeling ambiance and spacious. The staff was nice and helpful. The cocktail I ordered was a bit too sour, but I loved the prosciutto pizza. So flavourful. We also ordered two appetisers and my friends liked it, but I did not. That could just be a person by person case. Overall, it is a good place to hangout.
This restaurant is aesthetically speaking absolutely beautiful. The food and service is wonderful. Joe was our waiter. He was very knowledgeable and helpful!!The food was amazing and I would highly recommend it to all. The grilled wings were delightful. The homemade pasta was amazing. I just LOVE the decor of this restaurant. Amazing surroundings, amazing food & an amazing waiter!! 💯💯
