Panama, El Porvenir
Tropical forest national park with trails & streams inhabited by monkeys, jaguars & birds.
No entrance fee, quite empty hike in e/o July
Loved it! One bridge is out, and I hauled a few pieces of litter with me on the way out. We saw a few snakes, and something like a crayfish. Great picnic spot.

Тranquil, rich vegetation, and fun fauna
Nature and peace.
Incredible and beautiful spot in order to be in contact wiht the nature. Great waterfall and hikings
The place is nice but the poor animals are set in the small cages and seem unhappy and consigned...We would much appreciate if these creatures would live freely there as we saw in different countries.
A wonderful place for bird watching and bird photographers! Come very early to witness the awakening of the rainforest!
Beautiful lush jungle.
Lots of birds, monkeys, jungle
Amazing place with wonderful sloth and butterfly sanctuary and orchid nursery. Definitely take the tour - it was worth it!
Good place to see wonderful views across the tree tops and to the Panama canal. Visit the sloth rescue centre and see sloths, walk through the butterfly House, the orchid garden and see native poison frogs.
The forest is impressive, but poorly marked and signaled. It takes some work to find the entrance and the trails.
Great park to visit when staying in Panama City. Take a uber/taxi for $20 to the start of Pipeline Road that is on the far end of the town Gamboa. Here you can walk the dirt rocky track towards the discovery centre or beyond. We found it very easy to stop plenty of animals along the way including a beautiful three toed sloth!! Catch a bus from Gamboa or hitch a ride with a local driver to get home again (local driver will be approx $8-10).
Great break from active city. Lovely walking and nature exposure. Birds, water, nature. Perfect respite for a weary traveler.
We didnt get to see a lot of it but what we did see was so beautiful. I wish we had had more time to explore it. Will have to come back to Panama.
I walked pipeline road by myself at 6am and saw about 10 birds total. I heard howler monkeys but didnt see them, and saw lots of agoutis. Walked the other trails down by the lake and saw even less. October 2019.
If you are bird lover, you must visit this park. Abundant Birds and wild animals such as Rothschilds porcupine,Howler monkeys etc.
It was nice to walk the rainforest trails but it was raining and we should leave earlier than planned and encountered sloths in wildlife
We saw 7 howler monkeys, 4 titi monkeys, large turtles resting on a log. We saw a crocodile and took some great pictures. We saw a sloth. Lots of wildlife viewing in a short period of time. You gotta love it !!!
Wonderful experience going down the Panamal Canal (not the locks), be sure to bring some bananas to monkey island
This park has beautiful views, animals ex monkeys where I could see at least ten little monkeys playing, jumping and sleeping. Additionally I must admit its very, very clean.Well. you should bring enough water and fruits, comfortable shoes.
A great place to visit is the Soberanía National Park located in Panama near the banks of the Panama Canal in the provinces of Panamá and Colón, some 25 kilometres from Panama City. Hire a local taxi to take you there and spend a hour or so wandering through the lush undergrowth and then like us get the taxi to take you to Colon which will surprise you how different it contrasts to Panama
It was a great experience.
My biggest issue with all of Panama, and especially with its parks, is the lack of concern about the trash that the Panamanians seem to think is some else responsability to pick up. Panama is the native work for abundance of fish, fruit, trees and now TRASH!
Soberanía National Park is a national park in Panama near the banks of the Panama Canal in the provinces of Panamá and Colón, some 25 kilometres from Panama City. The Chagres River runs through the park. Established as a national park in 1980, the park covers 55,000 acres.
Was great experience with the kids
The best experience ever
Absolutely beautiful. Great peacock bass fishing.
This is the real life jungle Cruise folks! Mosquitoes gnats flies dirty water and you get to enjoy all of these things from a boat that would never ever see the light of day in American society. With the bat out of the way there are several monkeys but you can stop and feed via one of the tour guides there. If it werent for the monkeys I would tell you to bypass this and find something better to do with your day.
I went there with a tour, to see3 species of monkeys and also visit a village of an indigenous community. The Cappucin monkeys in the national park area did not have fear of human and would jump on our boat to get peanuts and fruits. The highlight of the visit was meeting the indigenous community village and learn about their livelihood.
The airtram and sloth sanctuary were incredible. Wish we had more time.
The boat ride on the Gatun was great. Was able to see Cappuccin monkeys and more. Great guide too. I would recommend the resort.
Nice views, nice service and you can take lunch too.
Amazing experience, I had just saw things like this in TV only. Be there and doing in person is breathtaking. Wonderful to see the wild animals in their home
A great early morning must do and then you still have the day ahead
This is a natural area alongside the Gatun Lake portion of the Panama Canal
Good place to learn about rain forest wildlife
Lots of well-preserved rainforest adjacent to one hotel, at least two b&b and the Gamboa Rainforest Discovery Center. Makes it possible to explore the park and go back to the comforts of the modern world. Rent a car or make arrangements for land transportation because the public transport service is very poor and unreliable.
Very swethin experience, in the couple of hours I was there I was able to see over 40 species of birds, and various species of mamals, reptiles and amphibians up close
Amazing getaway in Panama City!! Loved the freshness and beauty of nature❤
very good place for family party.
If you like Planet Earth or NatGeo, youll probably enjoy this park. Id recommend going really early in the morning when everything is still active. We saw a variety of monkeys, birds, amphibians, and insects. Bring binoculars, climb up the tower and get a view of the canopy and all the birds flying around.
On the way to the rainforest we could see some nice things.
This is more of a zoo than a natural park. Does offer some viewing of Panamas beautiful flora and fauna. Worth a brief visit if your close by. Quite a distance from the city.
Vast and dense foliage. Good place for birding. Start early to catch birds.
Absolute top thing to do in Panama for those who like hiking, wildlife or both. We saw so many animals on the pipeline road. We would return again in a heartbeat. No cost besides getting there. We had some trouble with busing back to Radison hotel because the bus decided not to come.
This park without infrastructure, no water, no restroom. The trail is in bad condition, nobody cared about it. Only one man there, he watchs for cars on the parking and takes money for admission. The admission costs $5 per person. Park works until 5 p.m.We saw some monkeys and 2 bats.
One of Latin Americas greatest national parks and places for wildlife and bird watching. On one morning (Tuesday, March 16we saw 78 species of birds and two large groups of monkeys (Capuchin and howlers), and were able to observe their behavior up close. We saw broad-brilled Motmots, crimson-crested Manakins, a rare (for PanamaTiny Hawk, and many other unusual, beautiful neo-trooical species. Book with a guide, and you will have a revelatory experience. Spectacular.
Great rain forest, we got the opportunity to see monkeys, sloths, different kinds of birds, and some other animals we dont know the names of. Definitely find pipeline road and hike as much as possible
