Parque Museo La Venta in Cunduacán

Pretty interesting museum. A must if youre in Villahermosa ,I believe it was 100 pesos. Worth it . Wear mosquito repellent. Do not touch the animals running around . If you are a fan of ruins and unanswered questions ,must visit.

The animals there are in horrible conditions. Really sad to see. Would have never come.

A must do while you’re in Villa! There are massive Olmec stones with carvings. The museum was super informative, but also very quick to explore! It took about an hour and 20 mins to explore and read everything.There is also a mini zoo with all kinds of animals! Only 53 pesos for foreigners.

While its sad the sculptures had to be moved from the original site, being able to see them in this unique park is a really cool experience. Definitely worth visiting.

This place is magical. Theres an energy around the artifacts that I felt. Loved the zoo. Theres an aviary to walk in. The peacocks let every animal know you came in. A great experience

Super excellent little history museum. As others have mentioned, skip the zoo. :( if you go up to the left you can just do the archeology part, the Olmec heads are of course very famous!

Its a nice option for spending time with family, cheap and fun.

I was visiting from the US and my friends wanted to take me here. It’s beautiful, for sure. I really like that it has the combination of being a museum AND a zoo! Mostly common zoo animals, but it’s still neat. I really enjoyed the bird area that you can walk into. The big head statues are awesome. The ONLY downfall is the amount of mosquitoes is torturous! Be prepared for that, bring plenty of bug spray/repellent because you will for sure be eaten alive by mosquitoes if not. We had bug spray and were still getting attacked haha.

Nice park with small zoo and Olmec archeological monuments. Like a jungle in the city.

Must see place.What are statues of africans doing in Mexico 2.000+ years ago? CRAZY.

We had a knowledgeable guide, which made all the difference. Without the guide, it would be just another park.

It has been many years ago (10 years to be exactwhen I visited this gem of a tourist attraction. Travel to Villahermosa in and out out was a bit challenging but hey it’s MEXICO. This place has a great zoo but more importantly contains some of the most important archaeological discoveries of all the Americas. Toltec artifacts that are as close to you as anything you have ever been close too and the tour is self guided leaving you as much time as you wish to relish the some twenty artifacts on display. An absolute hidden gem of the republic.

I didnt have time to enjoy the whole park, but visited the archeological statues. I thought they were well preserved with great explanations. I recommend coming early or later in the day to beat the heat. If thats not possible, the shade is sufficient, but note that the bugs are plenty! :)

The artifacts were interesting but the “zoo” is a crime. Wish I read the reviews beforehand, this is an embarrassment, absolutely shameful.

It’s great park, I love to come to hear often. Animals are friendly. View is awesome.

Pretty cool place. It wasnt busy at all when we went. Bring bug spray, mosquitos are everywhere.

It’s open until 3pm, closed on Sunday. I found it a bit of a depressing place. Loads of concrete. An artificial zoo & an archeological park. Deprived caged animals are walking in circles. I found the artefacts equally depressing removed from their environment and put on a concrete pulpit.

Nice experience but the animal enclosures were not very well kept. My animal lover kids were very concerned. We were not aware of the zoo and we were just fine without the zoo part. Very hot and humid but fun to see the archeological monuments.

Nice place to take the family, most of the exhibits are closed. Overall the place it’s ok.

This actually a zoo and an archaeological sculpture park. The zoo isnt that good but the sculpture park is outstanding. The sculptures (mostly colossal headsare from La Venta and there are interpretive signs describing their background. Very educational.The signs are bilingual and I saw one English language tour group (from a company outside the park I think.)

A great place to take a walk with the family; the museum is relatively new, so expect the facilities to be well clean and organized. The staff could improve in customer service but overall they are nice people.Besides the museum is the "La Venta" park and just across the animal zoo. The park is good and big. and the zoo could use some better management. Some of the animals are sick, or so we where told.I would definitely go again but would skip the zoo; its a sad sight and makes me feel very low.

Very interesting combination of zoo and outdoor museum. Most of the museum collection is carved stone artwork from an archaeological site at La Venta, and date from around 700 B.C. +/- a few centuries. The stones are enormous. The grounds are huge and covered with a wide assortment of trees and plants. The zoo is not extensive but the animals appeared to be well cared for.

There is so much history here about the olmec culture. Walking trough this beautiful jungle park makes you wonder about how was their life. Totally awesome.

Amazing place to know the Mexican ancestral culture

Amazing park/museum/zoo.Highlighting the bird house which is a gigantic geodesic dome you can go inside interacting with the colorful species directly.The feline species seem very lonely and sad. The reptile section is ok.Nice stroll to see the Olmec statues and artifacts. Free roaming animals. Crocodiles.

A nice place with a zoo and an archeological museum inside. You will be able to see crocodile and enter a giant birdcage with parrots and other birds inside. Free on Mondays. You have to take care of the mosquito bites inside. You will be able to visit it in a bit more than an hour. A free parking is available in front of the entrance.

Really nice pathway with Olmecan culture iconic sculptures but what totally ruins the visit is the zoo they have- it is SO sad and unfair to have captive animals while they belong free in their habitat... Also, some were totally alone, like a panther and a jaguar.. many didn’t have food nor water and some had a very small area..,This zoo should definitely be removed and those animals sent to sanctuaries! It is time to evolve!!

Nice place to visit. Having a museum in a little rainforest/park was an interesting combination. There were historical artifacts as well as animals. Overall I would recommend this to others.

An interesting place that has preserved many archeological treasures that otherwise might have been lost to history. The park setting and trails are an added bonus.

Seeing the animals really close is one of the best parts of this place and so are the ant eaters walking around

Very nice concept of a museumInside of “the jungle” many areas to look around and variety of colossal monolithic heads, you can also visit papillon’s the crocodile, (he is dead thoughbut you can see him inside of a room! It’s so cool! Bring some water and don’t bring any backpacks or they will remain inside of some lockers, you can bring your camera to get someCool shoots of some animals inside!

Beautiful but quite, worth strolling through if you have no other plans. Be careful of falling mangos from the trees

Nice park near a peace lake. Good to visit before go to La Venta.

The Olmec carvings are wonderful to see and would get 5 stars from me. They are set down a lovely paved path that winds through a jungle park with nearly tame possums darting to and fro. However, there is also a zoo on site with sad caged jaguars and other animals. I can only hope that it inspires the children that see them today to become better protectors of wildlife tomorrow.

Great Olmec archeological-zoo gardenSet in urban Villahermosa next to the beautiful Laguna de los illusiones,the indigenous animals like the Coati-Mundi roams free.The jungle setting is a perfect for the display of majestic Olmec sculptures from La Venta archeological site in Tobasco.Although it is a zoo also and features big cats like the black and yellow jaguars and a myriad of local birds,snakes,peccaries,etc,for me the Olmec culture is first and foremost.The zoo aspect propably will delight kids and make the experience fantastic for families.

Its a great open air museum and zoo also, where you can smell the history and watch the wild life around.

Its a great place to know about olmeca culture and very green and its in the center of the city. Its like a small central park jiji. I recommend you.
