Bustling tavern with a menu of burgers & sandwiches, plus pizza, with a sizable selection of beer.
Food has really gone downhill. Last 3 times I’ve been here the food has been sub par. Wilted lettuce super cold pork tacos, the beer wasn’t cold. Parlor city needs a serious revamp, won’t be back anytime soon.
Great food and atmosphere in history district.
Great place. Wonderful and friendly staff and great food and drink. Very eclectic!
Awful service. Will NEVER EVER come back. Staff is terrible
The staff here works really hard and is friendly and accommodating. The beers are cold and the food is solid. Would recommend to a friend.
Had the chicken taco flatbread pizza! Absolutely delicious! The waitress was friendly and provided our needs.
Thanks for accommodating a large group with zero notice. Excellent food and service. 5 Stars! 🙌🏻
Came in tonight. Patio was busy. Bri was super kind, attentive and put us on a wait. She checked back with our table multiple time. Literally the best service I’ve had here. She was working the entire restaurant. Kudos to Bri!
Such a great place to eat. As someone with Celiac, the staff here is very knowledgeable about gluten free. Their selection of gluten free is incredible!
The food was fine, however the service could have been way better. We rented a private room for an event, and the staff provided us with paper plates, plastic utensils, and cocktail glasses for our bottles of wine. We then had to go find someone to get real plates, utensils and went to the bar for real wine glasses. They didnt seem to understand why paper plates and plastic forks were unacceptable and of poor taste.During our event, the staff in the kitchen was very noisy and we could hear them perfectly through the walls. There was also someone in the back that was watching a video on their phone and I had to go ask her to turn it down so we wouldnt be further interrupted.I have gone to Parlor City for some time and it seems that each time I go, it gets a little bit worse.
Wonderful place to eat on a summer afternoon out on the shaded patio!Fish taco was great as was the Turkey Cheese Sandwich.I also appreciated the sizable list of NA beers.
One of the most amazing places Ive been to in a long time. Food is excellent and the service was great. 10/10 highly recommend!
Great place, neat decorations and nice place to grab a drink!
Went here with my sister and nephews after the farmers market on 6-4-22. Ordered the juicy loosy for myself which wasn’t anything to brag about. My oldest nephew ordered the brisket sandwich with onion rings which came out cold. The server/manager said they’d bring out a fresh, hot sandwich and they bring out the same exact reheated food. First time here and wont be back
My daughter and I ate there and were pleased just like before when she came home! Food was delicious, prices were good, and our waiter checked on us often!!👍😃
kind staff & chill atmosphere.photo is the “Snickertini” martini 🍸
First 80° day sat outside one and done it was fine. Good crowd
One of my favorite places in town! Many beers on tap. One of the best martini menus in town! Lots of other great cocktails too! The food is always great! Definitely get the mozzarella sticks.
Great food and great service! Very clean and the staff was super friendly. It was also nice to get free ice cream at Almost Famous with each kids meal
my volleyball team and I went there after winning a tournament but ended up having a bad experience. Barley any of us got our food and one of the girls burger was completely raw. They then proceeded to box up everyone’s food because they couldn’t get it done after about 2 hours. Picture of the raw burger( the juicy Lucy)…one of the worst experiences I’ve had.
Bre is amazing! She makes great drinks and also helps to make the rest of your night smooth and gives great advice! She’s the best
Great pizza, wide selection of beer, chill vibe in a fun part of town ... and, of course, some TVs for sports. Its worth a visit if youre in Cedar Rapids.
I took my girlfriend here for dinner and we had a great experience. My girlfriend is a mozzarella stick lover so we ordered some here. They are not traditional and definitely are made fresh not from something frozen. They were amazing. We did not order drinks but they had a fairly extensive selection it looked like. We both really enjoyed our meals. The price was appropriate for the portions and quality of the food. The aesthetic was neat and seemed fairly original we will go again Im certain!
It was not good. The tendeloin was so overcooked and thin that it was not edible. The french fries were undercooked. When we.complained they gave us another tenderloin, that was edible, but still overcooked. The waitress said we could keep the first tenderloin (for the dogand when we asked for a "to go box"...she brought only one box and we.had to ask for another. The bill was $11.95 for the sandwich and the glass of beer from the tap, not a pint, as it said on the bill, was a whopping $8.00.Needless to say, I wont be going back!!
The fried mozzarella sticks are the best Ive ever had! Very attentive and wait staff for my friends who wanted a lot of beer samples. She had a great attitude and that makes all the difference!
Food was good, place was under staffed and felt bad for the server running FOH solo. Received good service, but thought they were kid friendly and wasnt greeted as such. Brought our one year old with us and no high chairs or booster seats in sight. None offered either. Server was so busy, we didnt wanna be a bother so we ate fast and moved on. Had to set our son in the table as we ate, since he was at risk for falling under table at his size.
If there was one place you had to visit while in Cedar Rapids, Parlor City is it. Great beer selection, great food, and tons of city & New Bohemian heritage on the walls.
This use to be my daughter and I’s favorite spot to get wings until yesterday. We went in and ordered our usually mild wings and the first bite was like biting into a pickle super sour. Of course I had to ask if they were no good. Was told they now soak them in pickle juice. We tried to eat our wings but ended up leaving them. If I wanted a pickle I sure would have asked for one. I want my chicken to taste like chicken. Super sad deal.
Quick lunch with the roomies, the mozzarella sticks were nice and stretchy, pizza had a good bite to it and the spicy chicken sandwiches were tasty (could use more spice, but tasty otherwiseService was friendly, prompt, and drinks always full.
Ate there this evening and was disappointed. We are here in Cedar Rapids doing storm recovery work and decided to go out to dinner.Ordered the chicken wings appetizer and it was undercooked and the skin was chewy...blah.Had the Cuban sandwich for the main entree, and it was pathetic... very minimal ham on it and a tasteless bland untoasted bun.Normally I dont post negative reviews, but there really is no excuse serving bad, simple food.Service was prompt and courteous however.
Service was good, food was just okay.My pulled pork was tasty but I was expecting it to be a little more spicy. Fries were not hot and not seasoned.Wife had the chicken fingers, her fries were also not hot and the chicken was too heavily breaded and appeared to have been in the fryer too long.
This place is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! They really care for their customers! After the storm that rocked the city they were lucky enough to open when they didnt have to to serve the community and this Guy while I was traveling and needed a place to relax and get some food.
The burgers are either raw or burnt, have not had one cooked right yet. (We have been here 3 timesAny extras you order only show up when you ask for them a second time. Fries have ALWAYS been cold and if you want a drink or a second one at the bar good luck. Bartender is usually preoccupied by a cell phone or friends. It used to be a good place to eat but we have decided not to return for awhile in the hopes it improves.
Went there yesterday for the first time.We were seated away from everyone else even though there were tables on the lower level. It was not busy at all but we had trouble getting the attention of the waitress when we needed a refill. She was behind the bar chatting with the bartender when we needed her.I had the spicy Lucy (I was expecting some heat but didnt get itand the bacon cheese fries. I could eat them all day.My wife had a tenderloin which was overcooked to the point it was dark brown. Not sure if well be going there again.
Outstanding burgers! Outstanding service! Highly recommend! Will be back soon!
The food is pretty good but the drinks are priced high. They use a tier system that makes all the decent choices $7-10 for a pint (16 oz). However, the "Juicy Lucy" was a good burger and everyone elses food looked good too. Im knocking them down a star for their complicated and high pricing. The wait staff was great, but I cant see myself coming back.
We ended up spending the night in Cedar Rapids passing through from St. Paul to St. Louis and needed a quick gluten-free meal. This placed seemed more aware than average of the problems of the gluten-free diner, so we tried it. I ordered the pork belly tacos with bacon cheese fries and my dining companion had a bacon burger with sweet potato fries and marshmallow cream. The tacos were fabulous, as were the cheese fries. Im not sure about the marshmallow cream, but I guess: sweet potatoes and marshmallows. Cant go wrong with that.
I had a good time here. The staff seemed friendly and they had a few good beers on tap. I didnt have the food, so I cant speak to the issues that other people have had here. But if Im nearby and want to sneak in for a beer, I feel comfortable doing that.
Went to met up with freinds to enjoy the music on jam.night ,Tuesday. Ordered an appitizers combo and had a really good sour style beer. Sat at bar and bartender was very attentive and helpful to figure out what kind of beer I would like. Didnt care for the freind pickles, they were very wet and did.not like breading on chicken strips..but green beans and onion rings were good. My freinds ordered chicken strips, they didnt mind the breading and chips and dip were good. I do like the big variety in choices for sides.
Parlor City is a really fun place to eat! Weve been there a couple of times for work events, and those were held in the smaller building behind the main restaurant, which is very nice space. They have a great drink selection, and the food is very good. We also have found that their breakfast menu is really fun too, which was a pleasant surprise. Id definitely recommend them for a variety of meal and drink options!
Service is great. Beer selection is great. So, if youre just coming for a drink, maybe this is the right place. But, for food, the quality has gone way downhill. The cooking is what you would find in any generic diner. The portion sizes are not worth the price. The dishes are missing basic accoutrements.I used to really enjoy this spot, but now I dont think Ill be coming back. Too bad to lose a quality local place in a town this size.Edit due to owner reply: we all ordered sandwiches and they were all bad. It would take a long post to detail every item, but as this is a pattern here, it is clear the chef knows the shortcuts hes taking.
I had lunch with a friend yesterday and ordered the brisket sandwich with fries. The fries were fantastic and the service was quick and polite. The sandwich was not good. The first time it came out the bun was stale. When they took it back and returned the bun was fine but the meat was cold and I couldnt even eat it. I gave three stars because of the service and the fact I have been there many times with no major issues. But when you pay ten dollars on a sandwich you expect a specific level of quality. Needless to say I may not return for some time.
Blues Jams are not a bad way to spend a Tuesday. Well loved establishment with lots of character. Had a Left Hand Saison and Lion Bridge Cucumber Kölsch. Will remember this place for the next time Im in Cedar Rapids!
This establishment brings wonderful food and drink fare to the NewBo area. With an extensive tap list, and bottle selection, they also make fantastic Burgers and other great food. The outdoor dining area is especially pleasant in nice weather, and dont be afraid to bring large groups and our families.
We were silly and thought we could conduct a meeting here in the early afternoon - what pub is busy at 3:30? Right? Well, this place is. The staff was AMAZING and did everything in their power to make our visit what we needed it to be. I cannot say enough about the manager who helped us solve a problem on the fly and our waitress was attentive but not pesky. We just had appetizers and drinks and everyone was happy.
Great waitress & service, but very disappointing visit won’t go back. Have had better, but last 3 visits have been increasingly disappointing.Food was very greasy (4 napkins for 1 chicken tender greasy.Food was slightly burnt, oil needed to be changed. Took 39 minutes for a burger & sampler. Fried pickles were so greasy we could not eat them. Burger had no seasoning it tasted like a frozen patty tossed on the grill. Burger was served with fries. Asked for extra crispy fries, came out not cooked all the way. Was very loud. Waitress was very attentive & kind.On my other recent visit with a group, we reserved the back room. We were told we were bumped into the middle room where we became the walkway for the large party in the back. The doors didn’t stay closed to the back room so no one could hear each other and every 3 minutes someone had to get up and close the door. Food was very disappointing this visit too.
Have been here before and I vaguely recall the experience but I do know I left a bit more satisfied the first time. I purchased the fish tacos for lunch recently and while the fish was crispy and flavorful, I felt the food was missing some color and appetizing appeal. Not a bad place overall but their menu could use some finesse.
I have eaten here a few times over the years, probably 10 times since they opened. Never blown away. Food is okay to good, not great. Not a great value. Good atmosphere though. Got the grilled tenderloin and fries. Bun was hard, not crunchy like a grilled bun. Probably not stale but kind of seemed that way. Tenderloin was dry. Fries were great. Wait time for food was reasonably short. Went over lunch hour so time was of the essence.
Love the beer selection. Food is okay, but nothing special (except for the pizza, which is absolutely delicious). For a pub, decent. The biggest issue I have with this location is the inclusion of live music in a venue that obviously wasnt built for it. If you go on the weekend with friends/family, you shouldnt plan on having any conversation with them. The music is always incredibly loud and the (super cool normallyceiling tiles dont absorb any of it. You wont be able to hear anything a foot away from you. If youre not specifically going to hear the band, dont bother; turn around and walk out.Sadly, that fact alone is enough for me to knock off a star. There are far-better venues nearby that offer good beer (perhaps not as MANY types), equally-as-good food, and are quiet enough to at least offer a chance at conversation.
5:00pm on a Wednesday. Kindly greeted at the door and was allowed to pick my own seat, as it was not too busy. Table was clean and not cluttered with a bunch of table tents and other advertising. Waitress promptly brought my iced tea and politely waited for me to make my choice on the menu. There are several signature items on the menu. I always try to look for these items. I just want to try something out of the ordinary. The Guac burger was really juicy. I ordered it medium and it came out exactly the way I wanted it. Had to ask for extra napkins!! My bill was $11.50. Considering my pleasant service and enjoyable atmosphere I tipped the waitress 20%. A great experience. 56 beers on tap!!
