Modest, long-running zoo with a variety of habitats showcasing mammals, birds & reptiles.
Thoroughly enjoyed the zoo. More variety than I anticipated. A bit of repair is needed but animals seem well cared for and fed. Local community should donate for better upkeep..
Je sais pas doù viennent les avis négatifs...The zoo is like any other zoo. The animals looked fine, and it was clean. Sure the plastic windows could be changed since they are not in good shape, but other than that I think all the negative reviews come from snowflakes that honestly shouldnt go to a zoo if they dont want to see animals behind bars but they should just go in a safari and thats that.
Not a great experience. Not very well taken care of. Small cages etc.
Its a very cool place to visit with family and kids. The ticket is 17 euros/person and you can buy a big bag of food to feed the animals for 2 euros only. Some animals are not in the park. No elephant, No giraffes... we didnt get to see the hippopotamus either because they were under water. The big lion was sleeping. But we got to see all the other animals. we gave food to the horses, the lamas, the sheeps and plenty others. Get your picnic and lots of water with you, the fountain was broken on the floor near the dromedary places. The parking is free, you can spend your whole day there.... we did the whole park 2 times from 1pm until 19pm. It was really cool. Tip: Dont be scared to feed the animals they NEVER bite. They only use their lips to take the food from the palm of your hand😉 Ive done lots of videos that you can see in my recent posts on Instagram, follow me for more places that we visited👍
Nice zoo. Although it look old but all animals seem well take care and seems nature. This zoo is very nice for my 2 little daughters (3 and 5 years old). They enjoy with all animals there. We spends 2 hours thereVery recommended & Do not forget to buy food for animals . Animals will love it and kids also.We will try to visit them again 😁
Poor enclosures unsuitable for large game. Very sad looking elephant, who looked to be on its own. Tigers, lions and panthers look imprisoned. The enclosures for the lemurs were decent. They would be better focusing on the birds, farm animals, lemurs and meerkats.
After reading the reviews, which were not always positive, I wanted to visit the zoo myself. The infrastructure is indeed outdated and the plexiglass urgently needs to be replaced. The information signs are also due for an update. and some animals are still in a small pen.Still, I had the strong impression that the zoo is making a lot of effort to improve accommodations.I think the animals were well cared for. They all looked very healthy and got a diverse meal. They all looked very relaxed. And there were a lot of babies (which I think is a good sign, since depressed animals dont breed as easily). We had a fantastic day at the zoo and enjoyed the wide range of animals and the beautiful weather. Thats why I thought it was important to leave a positive review. If its good, that can also be said.
Sad place for animals. As the previous reviews mentioned; bad surroundings, bad maintenance. The snack restaurant also took over 45 minutes to wait because there was only 1 person to prepare food. And if you want to order burger, take double cheese/steak one because it was sooooo thin; the thinnest steak I’ve ever seen in my life! Don’t exhale too strong, otherwise the steak might be blown away!
Went with my family on the 6th April and we was very disappointed. The animals look very skinny and definitely under fed. One of the tigers has a really red sore eye. Most of the animal were lethargic or sleeping! Some of the Enclosures are very small! The elephant didn’t have any water. It cost €46 Euros for 2 adults, 1 infant and 1 child.€2 euros for a bag of food so we brought 2 bags but you couldn’t get near some of the animals to feed them, especially if you have small children and the viewing points are to high or covered with bushes/trees!!
Fantastic experience! The zoo has so many animals! We bought some food and fed them. We were also lucky to see hippos very close. Theres a lot of places to have a snack too. And they have some small attractions for children. The zoo is really big, weve spent the whole evening there and it was not enough. We were with our 1 year old baby, and he was so happy! We really recommend the zoo!
This Zoo has been totally enclosed by the surrounding zone commercial. The zoo has a selection of animals. Their biggest attraction is a selection of big cats, ranging from the Serval Cat to three lions and 5 Tigers. Besides that there are several savanne animals, lots of different sheep and goats. The terrarium have a few snakes, but most are empty. In summary their are 40 mammals, 35 birds and 8 kinds of reptiles. The parc has been build in 1971 on 16 hectares in Fréjus. Initially it had been designed for usages by car and on foot. As of 2020 it is not possible to visit the Parc by car.In 2009 new animals arrived from the Zoo at Cap Ferrât and the Parc has grown 5 hectares up to 20 in total. But most animals are not in their natural biome and I find it difficult to believe that this Zoo can continue to exist like this.
Loop
The worst zoo Ive ever been. Bad presentation, bad maintenance : animals living conditions are bad, bad roads for walking even worse for strollers. It costs 17e but if I knew this place is a sad sad place for animals, I wont go there even it is for free. 0 star if that exists.
I haven’t seen so bad maintained zoo around the world. Animals doesn’t look taken care of, they are many single big animals in small cages and many of them look sad and lethargic. Paths are ruined and green path are not maintained. The place is small and for 17euro entrance I would expect a lit bit more work done!
Fantastic
I read a previous not very positive reviews and I would like to say that I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw. The zoo itself is quite big and there are plenty of different animals. Yes, its not a London zoo but for such a small town as Frejus its huge. We got at the feeding time and saw all the fruits animals eating. All animals in the good shape and you can see baby animals tooWe spend like half an hour watching baby baboon playing. Im pretty sure if the zoo will have more funds thanks to visitors it will be on the great level. I wish an elephant will have more water maybe. And it would be great if animals stories like Lily the tiger story was in English too.I recommend it to kids and adults too.
Wonderfull day at this place.

Really nice small zoo
Nice view 👍
Correct
Hmmm! As I know naturally about the animals... ok except some of them such as the elephant.... they extremely need the water in summer but, indeed, theres no water and .... nothing at all. Imagine, that was you....did you think that was the very terrible life? They dont love the animals and they dont understand about wildlife at all.
Nice park, but located basically inside an industrial zone.
Great place to take your kids for a couple hours
Nice place to visit with the kids, however it took a long time to get a single burger (45mat the snackbar, also some animals are kept very lonely and the entrance prices are too expensive compared with what you get. I dont think I would recommend it
good!
Too small for this price.
Many different kinds of goats, birds and apes. Some of the gages were to small in my opinion. Hate to see if someone suffers...
Small zoo. Time well spent. Worth every penny.
The zoo was empty no visitors or staff, the animals were sad and lonely.. The space is nice but very melancholic.. I do not recommend it if you are looking for a fun day out with children at least not in the month of April, maybe in the summer it looks better. BTW gift shop toilets and snack back are closed on week days.
Ok
Great place to spend some time with your kids, very kids friendly, animals are very used to people, I love this place it’s worse it every penny, to feed these beautiful animals, definitely recommended.
The zoo is a little tired looking but the animals are well looked after and there is a good variety to see. Zoos play an important part in the protection of endangered species and it is worth a visit. My 5 year old in particular enjoyed it.
Ok
The zoo is great with a wide variety of animals, just be mindful that there is little shade on the walk around and it may be tough for smaller kids.
The positives:- nice welcome from the lady tending the gates- our kids liked itThe negatives:- way too expensive compared to what you get (EUR 17 per adult, EUR per child). The honest price point would be around EUR 5 per person- the zoo is unkept and smells bad overall- Animals do not seem to be well taken care of or not within their ideal habitat. Animals are kept behind big fences, something you do not see anymore in modern zoos (where natural barriers keep animals away from the public)- we spend 2 hours in the zoo without seeing a single person, guide or whatsoever. Bad from a safety perspective and it would be nice to have some zookeepers who explain to the various highlights of the zoo (if there were).-There was not even a single snack or drink point open.Overall, it was nice to go there with the kids but it unfortunately felt like a rip off as we spent more than EUR50 for 2 adults and 2 kids, as much as sole of the world’s best zoos.
Great fun for kids and adults. A lot of animals big grounds. Great fun Enjoy!
Stunning Zoo - one of the best in Europe ! We dont understand how people can complain about dirtiness. Nature is by default dirty and NOT a hospital or an antiseptic clean room. Only people who live in an artifical 640x480 screen size world can believe that nature is absolutely steril clean. This is a ZOO and these are REAL animals who live in a very happy and often very spaceous environment. They are a bit dirty, but that IS natural and i agree that it is not aesthetic to our eyes - but it is more natural than washing the elephant every day with a jet spray. No elephant in Africa has that. In fact what puts this zoo above almost ALL others is the fact that one can be so very close to the animals than nowhere in any other zoo. The staff b.t.w. is very competent. They know everything about the animals, how to treat them, they do exchange programs with other zoos in Denmark, Holland, Brazil and other countries - and they are really in protection and providing as much natural environement as possible. YOU NEVER HAVE SEEN ANIMALS THAT CLOSE BEFORE IN YOUR LIFE !.And it is true, that the zoo looks a little bit old and would deserve a little bit of refresh - the staff and the management would love to do it - but NO MONEY - so rescue this zoo - and GO THERE, SPEND MONEY and ENJOY The close proximity to these lovely creatures. They have stunning more than 1500 different anymals and hundreds of different species ! You easily can spend a half day and/or with picknick there. I attach some photos so that you can see - Flamingos in 50cm distance from you ! wherelse can you have that ! The Rhino that gets fed in-front of your eyes really. AND ASK THE STAFF - they are really very motivated to help, explain and make you familiar with all the various animals and their often funny behaviour. You can have a big laugh as well - monkeys are particular funny to learn about. Believe us - you will have a great time there and what is best - the zoo is so close to the Highway No8 that it is so easy to reach - drop buy and SAFE THIS ZOO !
Great selection of animals.
Any zoo that keeps animals in such small cages, should be ashamed of themselves. None of the parrots have cages large enough for them to fly.
A good trip with young children, they loved it as there was a surprisingly wide range of animals. I understand the negative feedback about size of cages but this is a small zoo not an animal sanctuary or Safari.
Opening days and hours are wrong on their website and their Facebook page. And they dont even answer the phone to give informations.
Nice little zoo, ideal for children. Animals are well kept
Really good park small but nice
Excellent animal exposition.
Anne Maycock & Chris Copland:We stopped off during a trip without knowing what to expect and we are very pleased to give the Zoo a 5 Star report for the following reasons. On entry the staff were friendly and helpfull. There is a place for refreshments that is really well shaded by ample and pretty trees over the tables. with another refreshment area placed halfway around to provide more refreshments and snacks if required.Following the suggested path on the park map there is a very wide selection of reptiles, birds, and mammals, that was quite astonishing for the size of the park. Including Lions, Hyenas and Tigers (both Bengal and the most beautiful white Tiger I have ever Seen. "Oh and Wolves" Plus Zebras, Elephants and buffalo. Not to mention the flamingoes, emus, Lamas, Ostriches, Vultures and Meerkats, Plus deer, Goats, and a selection of horned mountain mammals I cant even remember all there names. For the size of the Zoo the layout and selection were fantastic.Every Animal we saw looked very healthy, alert, and interestingly seemed to enjoy the attention of the visitors.Oh and How could I almost forget the monkeys, ducks and Turtles. The park do allow feeding of some of the animals with pellets available at the park.It seems to me that this Zoo is really putting the animals first.Constructive Criticism:I understand that animal welfare must come first...given that point. I would say that there is room for improvement in the overall appearance of the visitors areas and the some additional seating with shade would help to allow visitors to take in and enjoy the animals.More visitors would mean more revenue for the above improvements.Toilets: Though provided these should be prioritised for improvementsand Toilets that are modern and impeccably clean and well maintained and provide child and disabled friendly facilities would add greatly to this zoological experience.Note: I really enjoyed this visit and have purposely written things in an upbeat manner because of the huge potential that this Zoo has to become not just great but "exceptional"
Horrible compounds espacially for the large animals. Its hard to feel not sorry for them! This zoo needs to get shut down
Nice "small" zoo thats good for small children
Run down zoo. Hard not to feel sorry for the animals
For the first time since a few years, I today visited this zoo, and it has gone through a real transformation. It is not a huge hypermodern zoo like Tokyo or San Diego, but it is a charming, yet fairly big, countryside zoo.It is one of the few places where you can find Père Davids deer, which has been extinct in the wild for more than a century. This species depends on zoos and public parks for its survival, and Fréjus zoo is one such sanctuary. The park also features a kori bustard, which may be the worlds heaviest flying bird, and personally, I had never seen one live before. The animals of course do not have as large areas as in a big safari park, but watching for example the tigers, they looked extraordinarily happy with life, playing and sleeping like kittens in their enclosure. Several people around me joked they would like to join them. Given the choice, the big cats would probably prefer their wild habitat, but as zoos go, there are many worse ones elsewhere. The parks website explains the parks regional role, sometimes treating sick local wild fauna and rereleasing it in the wild. They also in some cases accept animals whose private owners want to abandon them, like the turtle _pond slider_ (Trachemys scripta), which the park receives about 20 of each year. This prevents the turtles from being released in nature as an invasive species. The pond slider is perhaps not the most interesting animal in the world, but if you are a fan, they have dozens, perhaps hundreds, of them in different ponds.Considering the limited area, there are surprisingly good photo opportunities without disturbing grids. Tigers and lions, for example, can be seen through glass windows, and elephants and chimpanzees above fences. However, many other animals are behind narrow grids. Not everything is perfect, of course. The catering is definitely not haute cuisine. In large parts of the park, private cars are allowed to drive around at low speed. The cars are certainly good for the disabled and elderly, but they make the place less peaceful for both animals and visitors. There should be a different solution to help people with mobile limitations. What about silent electric vehicles for the visitors?
