Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, Bongouanou
Tranquil old-growth forest in the heart of Abidjan featuring a variety of plants & animals.
Cool
Horrible!! This parc is just ridiculously expensive for nothing. We walked in the mud and then were told that we can go inside by car, so we walked back to take the car. Managed to see one monkey, nothing impressive at all.I would advise you to go the zoo instead where you can see many animals and hwge easier access
Super

I have to go soon to see this park?
The inconspicuous entrance to the park, just off the highway, does not give away what you will find past the gates. Around 5 minutes into the walk, completely surrounded by nature, the sound of the bustling city starts to fade away and you slowly adapt and take-in the sounds of nature, birds chirping and leaves rustling under the soft rain. My guide spoke no English and we had to make do with my (veryelementary French. He told me about some of the plant and tree species, but he was not a very chatty guy. I asked a few questions about the governor who once lived in the park -- his house nowadays is where the "museum" is located. It has a few monkey and crocodile skulls, an elephant skull, and some information on the park (only in French). If you want to visit it, you have to ask the guide, as he needs to get the key. Take comfortable shoes, as the shortest trail is 7km long (but its fairly easy). People are allowed to have a picnic (and make a barbecuein the park, and, if permission is given, you can also put up a tent for the night. There is a playground for the kids near the picnic area. Entry fee for non-ECOWAS (Economic Community of West African Statesis 5000 CFA + 10000 CFA for the guide (optional), which I considered expensive. My guided tour took around an hour and a half, which I consider short, especially for the price paid, but do not regret going, as it was good way to spend the morning and take some time off from the bustling vibe of Abidjan. Mind that if you need to take a taxi there, it is virtually impossible to hail one at the entrance once you are finished, so I would suggest that you agree with your driver to wait for you.
Very interesting place for nature lovers. There is also some interesting distribution with nets suspended in the trees, archery or slingshot games. However, the real pleasure remains the place itself, trees, river, natural ambient sounds. I will strongly suggest you to take bicycle (VTTthe is very interesting "Lines" to try, additionally, the forest is big it may become difficult an even boring to go by feet only!
Very nice place
Cool
Super cool
Good and direct to locate
Ok
Cool
Very nice
This is one of the biggest forest in Ivory Coast . you will find various species of animals and plants. Good place for camping touristic visitations and discovering the beauty of nature. It is located on the road side when you take the northern highway of "Yopougon" - an area of "Abidjan" the capital- nearby the shell Station before the first bridge. Same forest will connect 3 different communes: "Yopougon", "Abobo" and "Adjamé"
Breathe some fresh natural air, in the middle of abidjan. You can bike or hike. Good for family activity. Food is available.
Worth going and enjoyed every moment. Its magic.
Look, the National Park of Banco is a very beautiful place. I loved some sights there. But I was bored after a few minutes. Nothing special has got to my attention.
A good place indeed. A great forest reserve of the country Coted Ivoire.
The lungs of Abidjan, green and wild.Possibility of seeing Chimpanzees in the wild!
One of the countrys forest reserves...located in the heart of Abidjan. The economic capital of Côte dIvoire. The park keeps Abidjan green produces oxygen for its inhabitants. The BANCO National Park is opened to the general public for visiting and camping and other sporting activities...Hunting and killing of other species are highly prohibited.Logging is prohibited as well..The Parc is opened daily.
A piece of nature in the heart of Abidjan. A place to visit.
good place for nature lovers .. but make Shure your safety from locals before going inside the parc
Make sure you take cash (they don’t accept card). 5,000 for foreigners and 1,000 for nationals. 10,000 to get a guide (which I recommend). Bare in mind this is situated in a dangerous area - make sure you hire a driver for the day otherwise you will find it difficult to get a taxi or Uber to go back to the city. Also ensure you hire the guide for safety.
Never been there but seen it on tv and it was amazing
Nice open place to bring the family and have a BBQ out 👍
Its a government reserved forest, theres many different trees and animals in it...
Beautiful forest, I recommend to visit it.
Not only was it good to take a hike in Nature it was a nice experience I did not regret.Densed vegetation! You feel so energetic been far from the sound of vehicles and all the noise from the city!Hear the birds sing while you wonder about!I heard its scary to go there but I choose not to listen! Finally I am grateful to my tour guards that made out time to show us around!Go and experience Nature at its peak!
Great place to breath some fresh unpolluted air
Very good place for ecology, but need to be more secured
A great place for tourism and for discovering animals
A beautiful place to walk in the middle of Abidjan.
My husband and I just went to the park this morning. We hired an “English guide” who spoke as little English as my French, but somehow we managed to communicate and it really didn’t matter that much. We had a relaxing and pleasant walk for two hours in the park. The serene atmosphere was like an oasis away from the hustle and bustle in the city. Some tips and info: we paid CFA 5,000 per person (US citizensfor admission, and CFA 5,000 per hour for the guide.I highly recommend that you wear closed footwear, such as sneakers. No need to wear hiking boots, and sandals would not be appropriate. The paths had many muddy puddles. The hiking trails are mostly flat; some parts are wider than others. You still get your workout but mainly from sweating (because of the high humiditynot extraneous walking, lol. When we exited the park, somehow our guide led us to a different location from the main gate. It’s called the South Exit. They were still building the ticket kiosk and we ended up being in the middle of a busy highway when we came out. It wasn’t easy to hail down a taxi. Had I known, I would’ve asked him to take us to the same entrance as the one we entered from. But this South Entrance may be completely finished when you visit. In general, I would recommend this place for a half-day outing; however, more than likely you will need a long, cold shower right after your visit, so don’t plan on having a nice lunch at a fancy restaurant afterwards.
Expense and when asked if we could camp in their parking area wirh our small camper, was asked to pay over EU100
The importance of forest the cannot be underestimated. We depend on forests for our survival, from the air we breathe to the wood we use. Besides providing habitats for animals and livelihoods for humans, forests also offer watershed protection, prevent soil erosion and mitigate climate change. Yet, despite our dependence on forests, we are still allowing them to disappear.
Fresh air, jungle discovery, good eyesight. Banco national park covers 30km2 of primary forest. Its a home to only some few species of animals. It has more than 800 species of trees.
Fresh and natural air is present and cool place without noises is good to the body
Such a beautiful place if you are into nature lol great place for meditation! Planning on going back soon.
Nice place to visit and take fresh air far from the town.
Wow wow wow! The guides need to be employed by the state and the park needs more arts and culture funding. What a cool reminder of how fragile nature is! I am in love!
Shame about this natural beauty being destroyed. Please save our Banco Forest with all its endemic plants.
Real bush :)
When you go there, ask for Abdul Aziz as a guide. He is very gentle and knows the parc as its his own home (actually he lives there).A story he told us, once a french tourist went to there and didnt want to get a guide, she entered around 8am and then she got lost and she stayed the whole night at the forest alone xD they found her in the morning of the next day.I advise you also to take a tour on feet rather than using a 4x4.
Its a beautiful park the only problem is the price. 5000 CFA for non Ivoriand
Could be great for marathons, scout treks, or bird watching if more trails are cut and basic facilities improved in the center.
Great escap to nature in the middle of the concrete jungle. Minus one star for all the trash.
If you love wild nature, this is the place to go. One of the biggest wild forest in the heart of the economical capital of Ivory Coast
Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, Bongouanou
