Monasterio de, 32162, Ourense, Spain, Ourense
Overlooking the Sil River Canyon, this elegant parador in a converted Romanesque monastery is 13 km from the Mirador de Cabezoás overlook and 16 km from San Pedro de Rocas Monastery.Featuring hardwood floors, the refined rooms come with free Wi-Fi and TVs. Some rooms feature vaulted ceilings, sitting areas and/or whirlpool tubs. There's a fine dining restaurant in the former stables. A spa offers a hot tub and a sauna. There's also a courtyard garden.
This place is truly an experience!
It was my first time staying at one of the hotels which belong to the Paradores chain, and it couldnt have been a better experience. The location of this high standard hotel (former monasteryis outstanding. The hotel is surrounded by an ancient oak forest, an old village with stone houses and hiking paths. It is the perfect place to take a break from the routine. As all hotels which belong to this chain, they combine luxury with history, so we could enjoy a night guide tour about the past of the building and its former inhabitants, such as monks, knights, etc.We visited the hotel during the Christmas season (December 2021and it was fully decorated with nice lights. The food, both at the cafeteria and the restaurant was excellent. The staff, specially at the reception, solved all our requests.I cant wait to visit another hotel of this chain or stay here once again!
Rivera Sacra makes almost any establishment awesome. The Parador is an example of it. Restaurant staff truly professional and kind, especially Aaron. A night tour of the monastery played by an actor made it all fantastic. Stunning architecture and views

Best hotel in ourense
A stunning location with very well maintained monastery and several other adjacent buildings. There is an excellent restaurant on the complex.
Set in fantástico surroundings. Lunch on the terrace is recommended. The food was first class especially the entrecot.
Very special and beautifully restored historic buildings, lots of descriptionary plates about the places history, fantastic nature and location, breathtaking views, walking trails full of nature and history. Frames are perfect. The hotel is driven as a normal hotel in the luxury end of the scale. Could be much more holistic in my taste in the tradition of the monastery with its gardens, surroundings, baking traditions, wine fields, fisheries and history in general. Same with the kitchen, which is not very ambitious or exiting. But absolutely a top experience.
A very special place
The place is beautiful, and the food is fantastic! The views from the restaurant over the Sil Canyon are breathtaking. The cloisters are very well kept and the staff was very nice! Can’t wait to be back.
We would give six star, the best Parador we stayed at ,great location, food, room and very helpful staff.
Amazing place, plenty of walks between 1-4km from the monestary.I would pack plenty of water. The spa you have to pay €20 to gain access but its worth it. Treatments where good too.I cant comment on the restaurant. But the cafe was excellent. Breakfast filled me up for the day.
For me it was a very interesting pit stop on one of my favourite hikes, but am sure it has a lot more to offer
This is a must visit place. One of the most iconic Paradores in Spain. It is big...it is busy...but it is an amazing historical building set in a stunning location. A fantastic landscape and countryside to explore on foot, in a car or by water. And dont forget the incredible staff, food and facilities.
Wonderful historic Parador
Spendy! Good exhibitions upstairs.
This place is over priced. The restaurant is excellent but our shower was broken and took a while to get fixed. We werent given a key to open doors which was frustrating. Reception staff mainly poor. Not knowledgeable about local activities. Nowhere to sit in the sun.
Really nice hotel. The building as a former monastery obviously had a lot of character but its been renovated very well. Its a very relaxing place to be. A few salons for reading a book. Theres also a balcony area with seating where you have fantastic views and can hear the relaxing spa music coming from below. The breakfast buffet has a very good selection and self service freshly squeezed orange juice.I would definitely recommend for a chilled out long weekend.
A wonderful place. Dont forget to visit the monks kitchen in the forest.
Exquisite treatment at all times and in all ways. I got mesmerized with the beauty of its premises and views of Ribeira Sacra from the room. Breakfast is all you can dream about...
Perfect in every way....beautiful location, peaceful, exceptionally good staff, accommodation clean & comfortable. Great food. Thanks you, Gracias
This is one of the flagship Paradors and for very good reason. The location is unbeatable. The staff were very good. The drive up to the Parador is not for the faint hearted!
Unbeliavable experience. Luxurious, historical, superb rooms, breakfast perfect. Great restaurant in hotell.
Fantastic hotel located in an old monastery at the heart of the Ribeira Sacra region in Galicia, northwestern Spain. Nice rooms, excellent gastronomy, friendly staff and classy place. The nature and scenery around is just amazing. 10/10.
Its a very quiet Place with beautiful and relaxing wiew
Wow! Incredible views! Its wonderful the Spanish government is restoring these national treasures and then turning them into amazing places for us to stay. We stayed for two nights in December and it seemed like we had the whole place to ourselves. You will have three eating options: The classy Dos Abades restaurant which is open for lunch and dinner, the Dos Cabaleiros cafeteria which is open from 8 am to midnight for sandwiches and snacks and is where you have the breakfast buffet, and the third option is room service. The room service menu is similar to an abbreviated Dos Abades restaurant menu with some changes. Service fee for room service is 20% and you will be charged for the bread unless you say you dont want any. Make sure you find the sunbathing terrace on floor one, especially at sunrise. There are hiking and biking trails around the parador. For a great hike to the highest overlook, go through the little village in front of the parador and keep going up. We had very attentive service, but not really a fan of the decor in the rooms. I wish it could have been more period looking and the lamps do not give off enough light. We had a wonderful, relaxing stay and would recommend this parador.
Always amazing to be in a castle
Beautiful on the outside, unfortunately we did not go in.
A nice place, worth to visit. We werent guests of the hotel but the building and the church are in a mint condition. The view is amazing and the journey there was nice. Recommended for a half day trip.
The room and surroundings are incredible, food here is also very good.Make sure to bring your own iron and ironing board, as they charge around 5€ to iron one shirt. The WiFi works best near the reception, the signal in our room was very poor.
internet sucks, but its a pretty hotel tbh
A beautiful monestary, which has been very carefully converted into a first class hotel, while preserving the original character of the building. The restaurant has a terrace with an exceptional view over valley of the river Sil. It is unclear what to do upon arrival, because of a lack of signage, but eventually we figured it out: Park your car in the garage and proceed to the reception desk. Visit some of the surrounding towns and take a boat ride on the river Sil.
Incredible place in the middle of a forest. Excellent service
Beautiful building in a beautiful location, with a special atmosphere. Room comfortable and spacious. Staff friendly and helpful as always.
Great place, in the middle of Ribeira Sacra. It is surrounded by vineyards. The room is very big and peaceful. It has a spa, which is a must if you are staying there for a night.
Nice and just what needed to be heard...🤘🤘🤘
Nice place and views. Recomended place to take some drinks at the bar. A bit expensive.
We are there, great food and service, expect to pay for it. You can visit the three cloister from different periods and the church.
beautiful. Out of range .couldnt amke any calls. a little pricy
Beautiful place out in the green. Had a nice lunch there. The kitchen is great!
Beautiful hotel & location. Great service. The restaurant is amazing with gorgeous views across the valley.
Out of this world! Unique location and experience. Everything from the room to the food to the surroundings were spectacular!
So good but the food cost too much
Very nice. Good service
Beautiful location in the "Ribeira Sacra", next to the Sil canon, a must do boat trip when visiting this place. Very good service, with a romanic church right next to the hotel.
Perfect, with tipical food of the area
Beautiful building, exceptional, situated in the mountain, scenic! Stunning!
The most beautiful hotel Ive ever stayed at. Will be back for more!
The best Parador I have stayed in so far. The design of the hotel blends superbly into the ancient monastic building yet is contemporary, modern and refreshing. The architect is to be commended for his efforts. The rooms are spacious as are the facilities. The restaurant has breathtaking views of the Sil canyon from the terrace. The rest of the restaurant is imposing yet light and airy. The food is exquisite, exciting; the menu is interesting and the presentation matches the surroundings. The staff are attentive and yet not intrusive. The setting and scenery of the Parador is truly amazing. This is what sets Paradors apart from other hotels and no more so than Santo Estevo!
A really wonderful place. I organised some time ago an international meeting in this ancient monastery recently rebuilt as a luxury hotel. Everybody was really fascinated with the ambience. Not only from the architectural point of view the site is impressive, also the facilities and of course the restaurant. Indeed, the surroundings are really breathtaking. The perfect location for exploring the romanic architecture in this part of the NW of Spain. Including the well-kown thermal baths in the city of Ourense opened 24/7 for free(!).
