Calle Las Damas, Santo Domingo 10210, Dominican Republic, Monte Plata
Former 18th-century Jesuit church, now a stately neoclassical mausoleum for honored citizens.
Definitely worth entering. Multilingual Staff offer great free mini tour with exceptional account of the building history
Beautiful historical place to visits a must visit if your in the colonial zone in Santo Domingo
Cant understand that good rating.Building is fine and kinda beautiful, but be aware of the scammy, sketchy guides that will try to take as much money as they can from you.
Dat je hier nu heen moet. Nou ja je bent toch in Santa Domingo ga een kijkje nemen. Hier worden de oorlogsjaren helden geëerd. Het lijkt van buiten wel op een oude kerk. Veel plezier.
Free entrance.
Stunning building, looks like an ancient church turned into national monument, not very easy to interpret if youre not Dominican, needs a bit more effort to make it more tourist friendly, maybe with interactive QR codes here and there so it can be easier to navigate, though the feeling of national shrine is there, very solemn space.
National pantheon of Dominican Republic, although not all heroes are buried here
What a beautiful place. Mesmerizing architecture and most importantly full of history. Salome Ureña and her husband, pedro Santana, and many other important figures of the Dominican Republic history rest in this museum. The flame is eternally on and it uses coconut oil. The architecture incorporates french, Arabic, Spanish and local touches. The ceiling painting is beautiful with the day of the judgement on the right side and eternal life on the left side. Flags of the armed forces are also displayed including Dominican Army, DR Navy, national police, and other institutions of order. There still some available spaces for tge future heroes of Dominican RepublicThe entrance is free of cost. There are some local guides who can provide detailed information about museum and visitors can provide a tip of 5 dollars or less if the prefer. I recommend this place.
Lots of History at this site. A must visit place when in town.
This huge gray limestone building is the mausoleum that houses the physical remains of the greatest Dominican heroes. The Pantheon of the Fatherland has an impressive interior in baroque style, a flame that burns 24 hours a day, and a huge chandelier that was a gift from the Spanish dictator Francisco Franco. It is watched over by an honor guard belonging to the battalion of the presidential guard.
Nice looking cemetery to me
Excellent & breathtaking
Beautiful place to visit in about 10 minutes or so. It’s “FREE”, but there are guides who will say to you at the entrance “It’s free and I can give you a tour and at the end you can give me whatever your heart thinks is right” The tour was about 2 minutes and the guide at the end said “people give me $5-$10.” We were surprised because he was kind of pushy and the tour was extremely short. I understand they have to make some 💰, but they shouldn’t take advantage. You should still visit this place, but just be aware of this.
Placed in historical santo Domingo, an amazing building of the colonial times, u can visit and take part in the Dominican history, stare at the magnificent pieces of decoration inside and get to know some of the country most decorated heroes, a must visit
The best place to learn discovery of the new world. Dominican Republic, where the hispanic story begins.
Verry nice place with a lot of storry
Exciting place
Lovely building, steeped in history.
Its a quick walk down history. The shoulders on post will conduct a ceremonial walk and rifle display followed by the national anthem.

Resting place of some heroes that made important achievements throughout the course of they lives. The guides are very helpful with storytelling insights of those times.
This chapel serves as a final resting place for military heroes of the DR. It is beautiful. An added benefit is that there is a fan so you can cool yourself off here too!
Good place to visit. Right at the westerly end of the pedestrian zone.
Interesting spot to learn about the history of Dominican Republic. Usually there are some guides willing to take you through the panteón giving interesting information for a gratuity or donation. A must for all tourists visiting Santo Domingo.
Beautiful meeting ground
If youre in the colonial zone in Dominican republic, please pass by the phanteon, its free and a quick in and out where you can learn about the heroes that forged the country. Very well kept and it feels historic when youre inside.
Cool place. Sadly, very small, and there are a lot of tourists always.
In this pantheon are buried heroes of Dominican history. Definitely a mystic place
A beautiful place with a beautiful painting on the ceiling. The guard did an awesome job!
Beautiful building and respect for these historical figures.
National Landmark, here lies a few of our independence heroes. Solemn and very well taken care of.
Beautiful ornate tombs of significant contributors to the Dominican Republic. Its free to walk in and loon around but local guides will charge for a tour.
It is a very interesting place but the guide said the tour was free but at the end try to charge a lot of money, pretending it is a collaboration
Very informative guides. Amazing displays of old artifacts.
Heroes of the Revolution are buried here, looks like a huge church but a normal building from the outside.
They have one Puerto Rican who wants to have their remains sent back once it is independent.
