Old City staple for Northern Italian cuisine & by-the-glass wine in the Penn’s View Hotel.
We came to celebrate a birthday and the service was horrible. Our drinks took 20 mins to come, as a appetizer we ordered caesar salad and it took 40 mins for that to arrive. Our reservation was 8 o’clock and our entree did not arrive until until 9:55.
Celebrating our Girlfriend’s birthday, we decided to patronize Panorama; unfortunately, we did not get to celebrate our friend as much. We were overwhelmed with the amount of time it took to get our drinks, our bread, our appetizers & our entree. We complained to the manager and they were completely sympathetic.Overall, the waiter kept his cool and continued to serve us . Ultimately, I appreciate the professionalism, but waiting two hours+ for our food outweighs it allWe will NOT BE BACK. 🥴
The best food Ive ever had at a US restaurant. Wasnt even hungry when we arrived. We were going to ask for doggie bags but ended cleaning the plates. The hen of the woods mushrooms were the stars, but. The calamari were also perfectly cooked.the chocolate cake was incredible. We left the place feeling a joy, a rush of endorphins as a result of the dining experience. It was as if our taste buds had evolved to experience this night of dining. Service was excellent and we had a nice long sobremesa after dining. They dont chase you out or even ask if youd like the check. They know that when you are finished, you will let them know. Incredibly well stocked bar as well. Philly has lots of good food. This is the best of the best.
Cory was amazing and we had a wonderful date night. I had the best cosmo and spaghetti and my boyfriend loved the duck.
Food and wine were fantastic but the service was lackluster to say the least. My party was there for 2 1/2 hours and saw our server a total of 3 times. Was over an hour and a half before we had any food and it wasn’t that particularly busy. Very disappointing for the price point.
The food was absolutely exceptional and the service stellar! Had the rosé wine flight special, the incredible calamari, the house made cavatelli, and the rich cioccolato cherry-chocolate cake. It was all to die for and just a wonderful experience overall. My friend had the ravioli of the day which was pesto topped, smoked mozzarella ravioli with crunchy lamb pancetta—a beautifully plated and extravagant dish. Couldn’t recommend it more, can’t wait to go back!
Known for an extensive wine list and attached to a hotel on Front Street, this restaurant is frequented by many a happy-hour goer. It appeared that there were specials that were not on the list. We saw two tables with an extensive canape selected that appeared to be compliments of the chef. Our meal was delicious, portions were giant, flavors very well done, though I thought a bit pricey. It features Italian faire though most of the dishes felt more like what one would call New American. In contradiction, loved the cocktail list and loved my Antica negroni. The cocktails were perfectly executed, not too sweet, very unique. Meatball and half chicken was superb by my husbands account. The shrimp appetizer very flavorful with the feature of gigante beans. The avocado also had slight flecks of brown and while i know the quest for a perfect avocado is real, those are the types of things that feel weird on a $20 appetizer. The salmon ample and well-prepared. The house-made limoncello was an absolute highlight and my husband enjoyed his Franklin fountain mint chocolate chip ice cream.
The food was wonderful. I visited there with a gathering of companions during café week and we as a whole completely partaken in our dinners, drinks and the whole experience was great. I had a shrimp canapé that I would have once more. Others in our party had the mushroom tidbit that they went wild similarly well. The dishes differed between pasta, pork tenderloin and salmon. Theyre was not an objection about any of them. I had the gnocchi with tomatoes and new mozzarella and as Im pondering it now, I need some more.
The happy hour menu here is awesome. Had eggplant w a wonderful glass of wine. I’m a fussy Italian and can tell you the sauce was terrific. I would have given 5 stars if the bartender had not ignored me too long. When will they learn to just look at us and say “I will be right with you.” I get Catering to locals but you lose potential new customers when you don’t at least acknowledge them.
Really good Philly wine bar. Their selection is massive and the pasta is amazing. Highly recommend
Great food, nice, welcoming staff, a huge wine selection
I love the food the staff was very professional and make sure we had everything we needed to make it the best experience possible I will recommend it to everyone thats in Philadelphia to come visit.......
Excellent food and the wine choices , by the glass, are beyond❣️❣️. Salmon , NY strip steak, appetizers were all prepared perfectly and everyone was very pleased with their meals🤩
I ordered the steak, but should have ordered the Veal Paillard which someone else did. Delicious and much more interesting than the steak for sure.
We stayed at the Penns view hotel and decided to try out the attached Panorama restaurant. The service was very friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was nice. The salmon was fantastic, excellent flavor and cooked to perfection. The tortellini was good but did not hold a candle to the salmon in terms of flavor. Wine selection was good and the wine we had was great. We chose to eat outside, I will say the noise from the highway and proximity to the road is not ideal. It didnt ruin our experience by any means but if you feel that it would, keep that in mind. Overall we enjoyed our experience and would come back next time were in the city.
Excellent Happy Hour diverse bruschettas: canneloni beans, tomatoes, olives. The best fried calamari with 2 sauces. Wine flight.
The salad, pasta, and dessert were all amazing, along with the fresh bread and onion butter (I didnt know I wanted that in my life until I tried it)! Wonderful service as well. We were impressed and wouldnt change a thing about our experience at Panorama!
The food took an incredibly long time to get to us after we ordered - 50-55 minutes or so. Wouldnt have been a huge issue if it tasted good.. but it didnt. The main meal was fine, but the sides were terrible. The polenta was just gooey and had no flavor. Our waitress was nice but she was extremely overworked and just never came back to ask us or tell us what was going on. Im so disappointed we spent so much on a nice meal when the reality is we sat there just talking to one waiting forever, and were super disappointed.
Highly recommend the salmon and shrimp appetizer. The wine flight for Valentines day was a nice way to try various wines.
Mushroom, risotto and calamari was extraordinarily good. Recommended wine flights were a great addition. Highly recommend and would definitely go again
I went last Saturday with my boyfriend and two of our friends during restaurant week. I gave 2 stars because the food was fantastic, and the drinks were great as well. But the service was terrible. Our waitress treated us differently than her other tables. We watched the way she spoke to the nearby tables versus us, and it was obvious that she had it out for us. When she spoke to them, it was gentle and respectful. But with us, she spoke loudly and interrupted us every time we were ready to speak. None of us had a good experience here just because of this, and this was actually our first time at this restaurant. Maybe it had to do with the fact that we are all young adults (21-24compared to the majority of the guests there, or maybe it was because we were the only 4 POCs there that night. Either way, we felt treated unfairly. On top of that, we were there for almost 3 hours, not by choice. It took a while for her to come to us between orders, and even then, she didnt remember or write down our orders. We definitely had different expectations to what we experienced, and we didnt feel welcomed. Not sure if any of us will return.
Overall strange environment in restaurant. Sad to see, when I’ve worked in the service industry since the early 90s to current times. Food, some parts delicious others expected much more.I have never felt compelled to bring awareness to a poorly managed business in a review, but this was so sad. So much potential in places losing value due to careless ownership. Greedy business owners pushing short staffed and managers not helping. Service industry is falling apart, great restaurant by great restaurant. So many times enjoyed places before.Beautiful ambiance as you enter and see the nice detail and design of the place. But use of conveniently placed room finishes some glass some doors meant to separate dinning areas was very different because of the constant clear view of chaos during our own dining experience. Then two waitresses dealing with unmanaged chaos in our view throughout our meal were all we could watch unfortunately sat in front of a glass wall facing big painting with a bathroom of constant people traffic. WITHOUT MASKS, GUESTS UNMASKED MOVING FREELY WITHOUT ANY MANAGEMENT CARE. my friend had to actually drink my wine and hers to endure our side of a one woman show. Our waitress kind and attentive, wasn’t sure of her name, disappeared for some time (I’m sure busy elsewhere, obvious short staffing needed help From all endsbut another waitress franceska was interacting with nearby tables so enthusiastically we overheard her name and called to her for some silverware after some older man quickly slammed our plates to the table rushed away before we could ask for cheese or forksThen she continued to come back to check on us as we seen or overheard her checking with her other nearby tables (at least 1-2 feet spaced when in chairs.)We were unfortunately seated shoulder to shoulder with another nearby table so COVID is not something taken serious here and then basically on top of this nice young couple enjoying their time and also watching the chaos. If it weren’t for these reasons or careless COVID precautions I would recommend this restaurant for the effort their server team put in together to help make our long waiting night smoother.FOOD TOOK FOREVER. WOULDVE BEEN OKAY IF WE DIDNT HAVE TO SEE THE STRUGGLING SERVICE.Franceska made our meal just absolutely delightful. I have never been so compelled to say fabulous effort and wonderful recommendations. Handled getting almost 4 simultaneous parties seated in same time and looked and overhead happy people with her knowing what chaos of a dining room they were led toI hope one day to return again when management is more equipped to prepare their SUPERSTAR staff.BARTENDERS ALSO REALLY GREAT UNDER CIRCUMSTANCE. ONLY WAITED LONG FOR FOOD, DRINKS CAME QUICK.PS the limoncello was fabulous and we helped the other server franceska sell limoncello after she recommended it for a light digestives digestivo. We couldn’t help but all talk to the tables nearby because we couldn’t even have conversations too close to enjoy without everyone hearing. Felt strange and 80s food vibe. Great time thanks to the nice young ladies that took great care of us together.Hope to come back in better management circumstances.
Went to Panorama for NYE 2021 dinner, so maybe it would have been a better experience on a "normal" night. The lobby was packed of people waiting. We checked in for our 8:45 reservation a few minutes late since no one was at the front desk to help us sooner. We stood to the side to wait. The couple behind us checked in immediately after for their 9:00 reservation. After waiting for maybe minutes, they seated the 9:00 couple before us. They had the same number of people and the same table type. The manager(?didnt even bother checking the system to see our name was there first. We ordered each of our three courses immediately when the server came over, which took a bit of time in itself. The app took an hour to get. Then we waited an ADDITIONAL hour after that for our main course, where my steak was overcooked. Though we ordered dessert in advance, we couldnt wait. The tables around us were all waiting long periods of time to be served as well. While I understand restaurants are struggling with staffing issues, management did not set their teams up for success with the amount of reservations to handle in addition to an event that required the same staff to attend their needs. Our server had a positive attitude and we appreciated her doing the best she could under the circumstances. While the espresso martini was pretty good, I would not recommend going to Panorama solely due to poor management.
Nice Italian place with an extensive by the glass wine menu and wine flights with great service. We ate outside and it was a little noisy with traffic from penns landing. Would reserve an indoor spot next time.
The selection of wine is great, but be prepared to spend at least $30 on two glasses (same for cocktails). We tried the restaurant week special at a high top table inside and the food came out slowly which was fine, however the grilled calamari was a tad too fishy. Everything else was delicious and we had great service! Loved the dim ambience inside the restaurant, it felt like dining in an upscale wine cellar.
Food 4/5Service 1/5Cleanliness 4/5Food runner 5/5Hostess / Management 2/5We go to Panorama almost on regular basis (especially when it comes to Restaurant week, we never miss it every year, and the service and food has always been superb. Waiter and waitresses have always been super nice and knowledgeable. We went here for the first time after the pandemic. It seems they might have either had a management, staff or standards for food and especially service have changed.Last night was a very awkward dining experiences. Not sure if it was busier than their usual restaurant ween or short staff? From the moment we walked in (Somehow each time we go (they just cannot seem to figure out which entrance they want to use for hotel guest and which one they want to use for restaurant guests. So we walked into the entrance that we normally use (like some other guests), instead of being greeted with their usual friendliness, were met with a somewhat uncomfortable rudeness by this female hostess or one of the restaurant manager telling us to MOVE to the other side of the entrance, no hello, hi, nothing, since "this is a busy area" Ok sorry we went to the wrong entrance but maybe next time put a sign up that says entrance to the restaurant is here?. I wish I could say that was the only negative about the experience.Food has always been good/good or amazing (Compliments to the chef).Service last night however, was what I would described as fast food-ish. Our waiter (Gabriel or Gideon.. Not 100% sure, since I am pretty bad with names). Seems either new or didnt study the menu or just did not care for the customer service or the job. Only time we ever saw him was when he dropped of our water, took our order, once to pick up our plates and drop off our check. No checking up, nothing.... In fact when ordering he asked if we had any questions, so we asked "What is fish of the day? He said Salmon." "What is all in this item, what seasoning?" He said just salmon and on the bottom theres a sauce." Ehhhhhhhhhh.......... The question stopped there, I dont think we need to go further. When we my order arrived, they provided me with a knife but no fork, I waited and waited, he is nowhere to be found. so I ended up grabbing another silverware set from another empty table. Our water jug was completely empty, instead of asking us if we needed or wanted more water, he simply just took it and walked away like we werent even there. In fact the ONLY person who gave us most attention and details about the food we ordered was the food runner. Who seemed EXTREMELY knowledgeable and friendly.
Nice placeClean and good foodThe service was slow for me ( it is restaurant week)The drinks are delicious and the meals were well proportioned and good. Very nice ambience and a good time they have out door seating with heaters.
Excellent! This was my 1st time dining here and the service was exceptional. Your temp is taken prior to entry and the restaurant is soo clean, including the restroom. I had the lamb, passion fruit martini and tiramisu for dessert. The food is fresh and made to order. Everything was great!
Amazing wine flights and wine selections! The buccatini pasta was great and the hen of the woods mushrooms delicious. We ate in the outdoor cafe it was beautiful! Will definitely be back. Excellent service
I eat here about twice a year. The wine list is extensive and the staff is eager to help you make a choice. The food is always executed well. The menu is small but carefully crafted. Staff at this last visit was really something special. Our waitress Megan was probably one of the best Ive encountered in a long time. She was at the table when she needed to be and kept a watchful eye on our glasses, all while being funny and polite. We dined family-style with another couple over three courses and dessert. Megan ensured that we were not rushed and had an opportunity to enjoy each course. She was assisted by an incredibly friendly group of food runners and bussers. Ill be back soon.
Beautiful location, and venue, friendly staff. We enjoyed our evening and felt amazing vibes from everyone that interacted with us.My meal was great like really great (Chicken Milanese). But my friends had the Vegetarian option of the Cavatelli and portion was small for $25.My meal (pictured belowseemed to be the largest choice at my table.Overall a great experience.
Panorama is an Italian restaurant in Old City right next to the entrance to 95. My wife and I ate there as our first time eating in Philly in nearly a year due to COVID. We felt comfortable with the precautions being taken. You have the opportunity to eat inside out outside and they take your temp before you entered. The food was very good, particularly the pasta. We also had a couple of cocktails which were done well. The ambience was cozy without being too crowded. We would definitely go back.
Tonight I dined at Panorama. I ordered the blood orange margarita (pictured), rigatoni, and ricotta cake. Everything was delicious. The service was right on time, informative, and friendly. I would return very soon.
Accidentally ordered the wrong pasta, and it turned out to be the best freaking pasta I have ever had in my LIFE!!!. Wonderful food. We will be back again and the next time we will leave room for desert.
Great place for couple to eat with a great food too, i ordered N.Y Strip and my girlfriend had chicken malanese. Both are delicious and also all staff so friendly, thank you so much.
Good italian food, good service. Food was good, but the tirimasu is why Ill be coming back! It was absolutely delicious.
Great restaurant week lunch experience. Great service. Good pasta. Dont know if I would go for regular prices.
Greattt food, and great atmostphere. A lil pricey but worth it! We went durong restaurant week so that helps a lot. $35 for a 3 course meal. The veal loin and veal skirt steak entrees are the must try! Also the poached pear was amazing. torta di ricotta was a bit sweet.
First time here and I really enjoyed it. Its a small place inside a hotel with a calming environment, not loud and bustling. The staff was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable. Food was delicious! Perfect spot for a date. Huge selection of wine.
This is one of those gems that name you feel at home. It is a smaller restaurant that has a very quaint vibe that you feel comfortable casual, or dressed up. The wine selection is bar none. The best part of this place? The HOMEMADE PASTA! Unreal!Check this place out!
Hands down best Italian meal I have had in the states. Far exceeded expectations, amazing wine list, and the bartender Alex was so kind and fun to chat with. Incredible experience, cannot wait to come back!
As I was staying in Penns View Hotel, I thought Id check out the restaurant in the building. The wine list is impressive and interesting how they are rigged up for easy pouring. They ran out of my favourite dish so settled for rigatoni with wild boar ragout. It was like I would make at home so it didnt disappoint.
Went during restaurant week, food was amazing and staff was friendly and very helpful! Great restaurant and wine selection, perfect for a date night!
What a great restaurant. They are in the Guiness book of World Records for most wines available by the glass. The parking is competitive.
I went for happy hour and Im so glad I did. Theres a discount on wine flights and "antipasti" (appetizers of sorts). The wine list is massive but the wine flight offerings are helpful including "Fresh and Fruity" and "Bottlings for Beer Lovers". I picked "A Rosé by Any Other Name" and they were all delicious (thought Sangiovese Rosato was my favorite). The staff was friendly and helpful. A great experience overall!
We were here for restaurant week and I cant wait to get back. The name suggests panoramic views of the adjacent bridge and river but Panorama is aptly named for the Guinness Book record holder wine bar so big, it can only be photographed with a wide angled lense. There were more plates than I can remember but the thing they all have in common, deliciousness! Get the Caesar lightly dressed, the strip steak medium and affogatto to finish with a cream sherry...Panorama is a broad vista of culinary delight.
Great experience during my visit to Philly! Extensive wine list, great food, and super friendly and knowledgeable bartender. Definitely coming back.
The pastas and service were outstanding. They have a great wine selection (they claim to have a Guinness recordand they offer tasting "flights". The main course was just OK (will stick with the pastabut the desert was unconventional but pleasantly surprising.
So good. Anniversary dinner with my girlfriend. The food was great but the service was even better. Dined for restaurant week but will definitely be back! 100 plus wines on tap, wine flights and some of the best pasta dishes I have had in a while.
Outstanding spot, Amy at the bar makes it. They recently remodeled and the result is beautiful. Looking for a quite place for a great meal and glass or 2 of wine in old city? Panorama should be your first choice!Get the octopus, burrata stuffed pasta and the flourless chocolate tort. WOW!
