Pandora Pond - Playground in Napier, New Zealand
Great without the cyclists on the No Zone Cyclists.
Great area to spend an afternoon at :)
The pandora pond is a lovely place to walk your pups. Walking across the old bridge may also spur some memories... people seem to also enjoy fishing where the water flows to the sea.
This area is priceless good exercise area toilet facilities shade picnic tables playground and being amongst creation nature is amazing
A credit to à few dedicated local volunteers that we have this walk. Council have erected really good signage, its up to our council to respect this estuary as important migratory bird sanctuary, such a delight to enjoy nature so close to the city. We need signage to direct cyclists away from the walk areas as they destroy the terrain.
Wish Napier City Council would spend money on the correct infrastructure to clean up the sewage emitted into this area, would feel alot more comfortable with kids swimming in there.
Was awesome to see a variety of water sports trainings as well as a boardwalk right the way around to the pier beautiful sights also with many shops and food outlets
Gorgeous spot all year round
Kool place for a break, playground for the kids. Great toilet & changing area.
Pretty but also its often polluted so not great for swimming

Dont go swimming and if you do, dont drink, lick your lips or open your mouth to this water, youll be sick and be sure to properly take a shower to wash the germs away!

Good in the summer for kids. Good access to eastury for kayaking. Ice-cream available.
Depending on Water Quality this is a safe place to swim and you get great Sunsets
Good walk...place for kids to play...kayaking hire.
Lovely estuary walk. Allow at least an hour to go round the loop across the old road bridge visible to the West.
Lovely walkway grandkids loved it
Nice place. Fun pond for the kids to play in and collect shells etc
Pandora Pond is a great place, but with some health risks. When you arrive, you are greeted with a sign stating that the water may be contaminated, as the surrounding wetlands all empty into the Pond. However, at low tide the exposed sandy area is filled with sea life. You will see hundreds of little crabs. Star fish, and many other creatures are able to be found in rock pools. For children and adults alike, this is a huge amount of fun. Just remember to wash off afterwards. There is also a shelter and playground on site which is great for picnics etc...Pandora Pond is a great place to visit, provided youre careful about cleanliness, and avoid the Pond straight after heavy rain.
What an embarrassment for Napier City to have a pond that is not safe to swim in & for such a ling time. I am totally ashamed to tell our visitors.
Great place to walk but wouldnt want to swim here.
Been wanting to do it for a while now. Always drive past the paths and the bridges. Took a leisurely stroll with my mum and enjoyed every minute. The water was absolutely calm and beautiful. The bird life was active and I could hear tuis calling in the last stretch of the walk. Was great to see so many people out and active.
A fantastic location for young or old to learn to sail or an other water craft!!
Nice loop walk, limited for dog off leash. If it windy... forget it
Great place to go with family, friends or by yourself. There is a park for everyones entertainment😁 you can also take the kids down to see the crabs! I enjoy the loop track around pandora pond, getting around 5000 steps on the pedometer😁 beautiful views of napier on a sunny day!
This is the place for Iron Māori. Its tough and can be unforgiving but I love it.Pandoras pond...boom!
Nice to Look at but no way I would swim in there
Great for day out. Walking tracks pond and great fish n chips across the road.
I mean its a pond when tides in cool things to do on the water good food places near by
Good for a swim or walk depending on the weather and sewige
Still mirky brown after the rain, but great fun on the kayaks.
This is Napiers free low-energy aquatic recreational area, but humans share it with a 190 hectare wildlife refuge (birds poo a lot), and the Ahiriri Estuary has a 14,500 hectare catchment area including farm, subdivision and road and highway runoff, and drainage and stormwater from napiers commercial, industrial, residential areas, car parks and yards areas. Caution is advised when swimming here as there is an elevated risk from contaminants in the water causing illness. Dont swim here for 3 tidal cycles after a rainfall event of 6.5mm over a 12 hour period, as rainfall is known to wash contaminants from the land which enters the estuary and therefore the Pandora Pond
Council have made a beautiful track around the incredibly beautiful wetlands. Great walk
Well set up was very happy until they closed it few says later due to fecal matter in gge water 😝
Beautiful place to take family and have some fun times, can be crowded in the heat of summer.
Great safe place to swim for families. Great park for children. Nice clean new toilets and changing rooms. Plenty of parking. A nice place to have a picnic. A bakery very near by with great chicken and chips and Fresh fish and chips and seafood takeaways across the road.
Great water area and there is a 4.5km loop track around it.
Must come with swim wears and pool toys nice place to come in summers
Great olace for everyone and very safe to swim and haveing fun enjoying the outdoors in NAPIER
Great place for a swim for adults and children. Just check the tides first as low tide it is too shallow to swim.
Cool spot. Nice safe area for kids to swim and play area.
Was here for the Iron Maori tamariki event. Very hot and my little ones were able to cool down nicely in the water. A bit murky though. Nice playground for the kids.
