Teapots hang in this quirky restaurant in a 16th-century house, serving traditional pancakes.
We love good pancakes and had few many places to try those in Amsterdam and not only. The benchmark are home made pancakes from our grandma. And it is always about the dough you mix for the pancake. Well, at this place they know how to make a good pancake! You could it a plain pancake because it is already tasty! We had two versions with strawberry+cream (15€)and apples/cinnamon+cream (11,25€). The cream is like an ice cream and it is very good but you might not eat it all. Note that one pancake is very big! Our small daughter couldnt finish it. Should have taken one to share. The place itself is tiny with 4 tables so you need to book in advance and be on time. They wait 5 min and then let others take your table. There are quite high stairs to get up like in many A’DAM buildings. I would really recommend this place!
Ali was a great host. The pancakes were amazing!
The pancakes are really good with reasonable price. But you have to make sure to book before come there because they only have very limited space. And be careful because the stairs leading to the entrance is too steep.
A very cozy restaurant in the middle of the city center and perfect to try real Dutch Pancakes. As it only has 4 tables it is important to reserve upfront. The pancakes were delicious (try sweet and savory flavorsand the owners were there to give us recommendations and they were sooo nice :!! 100% recommended.
Oh my god, they nail it! Pannenkoeken made properly and to perfection! Keep in mind you positively need a reservation. Be sure to call in advance because of only 4 tables....it is so worth it!
A very special location at the center of Amsterdam. Very friendly service. The food is great. Will definitely come again.
Loved the pancakes, second time in Amsterdam and made a point of coming back here. Worth making a reservation but everything about this place is great.
I’d definitely recommend trying this unique and tasty Dutch spot! The tiny little restaurant has only 4 tables and a super unique layout overlooking the city walkways and storefronts. The pancakes were great and the coffee was fresh. We went with a savoury chicken pancake and a sweet banana and chocolate one - both were great!
Amazing!Went there 2 days straight! Best pancakes in Amsterdam!! Homemade classic nostalgic pancakes 😍😍😍 best to make a reservation in advance
Super cute, and incredibly delicious if you’re able to get a table. Reservations are highly recommended but they do walk ins for the the first 6-10? people that show up on their first hour of opening. The King with homemade cream and strawberries is to die for!
beautiful place to eat dutch pancakes! A reservation is highly recommended since the place is small and there are only a few tables. To reach the tables you need to climb up steep and narrow stairs but it is worth it! The cafe is beautifully decorated and the pancakes are delicious but quite expensive. If you come by Amsterdam it is definitely an experience I recommend.
Very friendly staff like my grandmother , have a home feeling eating pancakes here! The pancake was a special of the day and it was delicious
A very sspecial place serving amazing pancakes - dont miss it !!
Really cute restaurant, fun atmosphere and amazing pancakes
Pancakes were amazing, especially the cheese and bacon one
Fantastic experience, atmosphere, service and food. Highly recommend for anyone traveling in Amsterdam. It is a very small restaurant though (5 tablesso get there early for amazing pancakes!
It’s like a place from the tea party from Alice in the wonderland. The pancakes taste nice, as expected with sweet salty meaty taste all going on in your mouth.Be careful of the neck breaking steep staircase.
Such a cute, beautiful spot to have pancakes. The interior is gorgeous and the pancakes were delicious with a small citrus tang - I loved it. The staff were extremely welcoming and let us try the Rhubarb special - will definitely order that when I’m in Amsterdam again.
Cute small pancake house on the second floor with super steep stairs!4 tables, one chef, one service!Walk in is accepted but better with RSVN!Big pancake to share. Cute decorations! Lovey place.
Amazing place with delicious pancakes. You must make a reservation, but its definitely worth it
Definitely reserve if you can. Alternatively walk in literally when they open to snag a seat which is how we got in. If you come after 10 mins when they open, likely youll be turned away as theyre always full of reservations. The family has been operating for the past sixty years! Lovely decor and tiny spot : 6 tables in all.Suggestions is to share two pancakes between two people as its quite filling. We had one sweet and one savory item. for the savory, we had apple, bacon and cheese. Sweet was apple with chocolate sauce. Personal favourite was apples! Cheese was little too strong for me. You cant go wrong with the pancakes here.Bring cash to pay for the food! Or go to atm right across from the shop to draw some. They dont accept international cards.
The place has got only 4 tables so make sure to call to book ahead. I really liked the texture of the pancakes, fluffier and thicker than French crepes. We had the salami and cheese, loved it, plenty of cheese! Also had the chocolate and coconut which was also good.
Our favorite place in Amsterdam, with delicious pancakes and friendly service in a quirky upstairs cafe with only a few tables. Make a reservation!
Classic Dutch Pancakes ( similar to crepes but they use whole milkvery delicious whem savory and its very filling. Book ahead of time as they have a small restaurant but its beautiful
Thr weirdest and coolest pancake place in Amsterdam. Unique atmosphere and delicious food. Must make a reservation as they only have 4 tables or so.
It’s sorta crepes sorta pancakes. We had strawberries and tomato-bacon-cheese ones. They are delicious. Best pancakes I have eaten. And I make pretty good pancakes and crepes. Small place with just 4 small tables. Rsvp is a must. I wanted to come back the next day right after I stuffed my face and they told me it was fully booked. So yeah you get the idea
The pancakes were delicious and the server was so sweet. Would definitely recommend this place to a friend/family member
What a unique place in Amsterdam for some amazing Dutch pancakes! Group of four and we each ordered one to share and nothing disappointed us at all! This is a cozy and well decorated place but small. Highly recommended to make a reservation as it seems to book up every day. The stairs are steep so be aware of this also. We had two sweet and two savory. Pulled beef and the bacon honey and Brie for the savory. The strawberry and the pear for the sweet. The whipped cream is amazing. If you enjoy a nice pancake (blinin a cozy and eclectic atmosphere this is your place!
This was actually our second visit. We actually came here 5 Years and sat in the sat splits too.Would recommend to book in advance, the lady who was on the phones advised 1 week ahead. When we arrived we were seated within minutes. The place is quite cosy, it’s literally 4 tables. We ordered 2 pancakes, One savoury and one sweet. Not much has changed, and that’s in a good way.Quality is definitely consistent here!Me & Mister polished our dishes within minutes.Payment is cash or Maestro which seems to be the norm in most places in Amsterdam. We left a 10% tip, made our way down the steep stairs.
Loved this place! So nicely decorated inside but you have to remember there is only four tables. Recommend calling for reservations. Pancakes were very tasty and the staff very friendly. A must go when in Amsterdam.
The best pancakes I’ve ever eaten, in the most intimate setting; like being in your nanny’s front room. I had the special; whipped cream and stewed strawberries and it was so delicious. We turned up half an hour before opening and still had to queue so reserve and turn up ON TIME.
Such a cute place u could ever be!The pancakes were kinda expensive, but its Amsterdam after all and located really in the center. They had so many pancake toppings u could choose for.Funny thing was, the cook was Indonesian just as myself, and I sat exactly next to the kitchen, so we were basically just chitchatting in our language the whole time😂
This place is just special. The food and customer service is top notch. But for me it was the taste that made it heaven for me. It wasnt just another good pancake. It took me back to childhood when grandma made us pancakes with berries. And just gave me pure good old happiness. I definitely recommend others to go there. Its a tiny room ur in, but the way its put up, it just gives you a cozy feeling.
Probably the most "typical Dutch" place to have your mandatory pancakes. Very unique atmosphere at Europes smallest restaurant. Feels like a home meal at Grandmas. Pancakes were delicious. Might go for sweet next time.
This is a very cosy and warm place, not for claustrophobic people though haha. Very small and the service was good and friendly staff. The payment is by Cash only. Highly recommend 👌
I LOVE THIS PLACE. Three tables. One menu full of pancakes. What more could you ask? This is seriously cutest, most charming little Dutch spot I ever did see. A must in Amsterdam!!! Call ahead or just walk in. You’d think it would be impossible to get in since there’s only 3 tables but we easily got a table when we visited. Pancake was AMAZING. A tiny spot at the top of a near-vertical climb (seriously, it’s practically a ladder LOLbut I don’t think I’ve ever loved a tiny little restaurant more. Seriously, do not miss this in Amsterdam!!!
Very delicious, super friendly and super cute restaurant.Make sure to make a reservation or be ready to be flexible with a waitingtime because they habe just three tables but its wort the wait for sure!We will be back👍🏼🍀
A cozy hidden gem in the center of Amsterdam! Pleasant home-like atmosphere and the owners are very nice. Make sure to book in advance as there are only three tables.
Delicious and filling! I had the Miranda pancake and it was very tasty! The ambiance is quaint in a 16th century convent turned hospital turned family home turned restaurant. Only a handful of tables so reservations are required and no credit cards are accepted so be prepared for that. The owner is very engaging and interesting! The other staff member is very polite and professional. Highly recommended!!!!!
The lady needed a sweet snack before a proper meal. She found this pancake house and was expecting fluffy-style pancakes. It turns out they are crepe-like!The menu looked good, especially with the savory items. But since we were having lunch soon, we stuck to sweet and the days special. I have no idea how often the specials rotate, so buyer beware. Also, the cream was rich, but really good. If you are not into whip cream like myself, still give it a try. It is sweet and does not taste artificial. The place is cash only sadly, hopefully they can take contactless some time in the future. Watch out foe the stairs, they are narrow, small, and steep!
Pancakehouse Upstairs was highly recommended by a few friends who had visited before me and it was one of my favorite parts of my trip to Amsterdam. The unique atmosphere, friendly service and delicious food made for an amazing experience. I’d would say it’s a must visit in Amsterdam. Note, there are very steep stairs to the top and only 4 tables with most of the morning slots full. Be sure to call or go prior to the desired time otherwise you may not make it in.
Very small and cosy pancake cafe. They take COVID compliance very seriously which is highly appreciated. Furthermore, this place is really nice set up with an eye for detailed interior. Probably coming again when my body needs pancakes 🥞
Cute little place. Super fast service and yummy pancakes. Only 3 tables currently so defo ring ahead and book in. I managed to scoff two pancakes lol... bacon and pineapple then lemon juice. Highly recommend both.
Homely and cute ambience with great homemade, authentic Dutch pancakes. I got the apple cinnamon sugar pancake by recommendation, and it was delightful, tangy, and sweet. The best part of the pancakes was the batter—with the perfect balance of chewiness, fluffiness, and moistness. It tasted rich and went perfectly with the sweet, buttery whipping cream. The owner was extremely kind and sweet. I am definitely coming back.😊If you are planning to go, don’t forget to reserve beforehand
It’s my first time to try dutch pancakes and it didn’t disappoint. You have to go up the tiny stairs before reaching this tiny restaurants making it unique. It has cute decors and has a homey feel. We didn’t know that you have to make reservations as it only have like around 15 seating capacity but we were still accommodated by the nice and welcoming staff.
Sweet, welcoming atmosphere and delicious food! This restaurant only has 4 tables, so please keep in mind that you might have a little bit of a wait. My party was told to come back in 20 minutes (no problem at all because it was a charming area to walk around in to kill time). Exactly 20 minutes later they seated us, and the service was quick but without making us feel rushed.
This is a wonderful pancake restaurant located up a narrow set of stairs. There are only 4 tables so come before they open or make a reservation. The brie and bacon pancake stole the show. Service was great. Very cute decor inside.
So this is a small restaurant (the smallest in Europewith only 4 tables, so make reservations ahead of time! However, if you have no choice but to come here as a walk-in, its more than worth the wait. First, we climbed up a steep staircase (which is really basically a ladderinto this tiny room overlooking the street. We were seated quickly and ordered one savory and one sweet pancake. Both were amazing. Easily the best pancakes we had in Amsterdam, and one of the most unique (and cozydining experiences weve had! I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Our only regret was not coming back again the next day!
This is a really cute pancake restaurant! There are only 4 tables in the restaurant so I recommend making a reservation or getting there right when they open. The decor and vibes and really cute but the restaurant is cramped. Also you have to walk up a set of stairs so theres no elevators (not handicap friendly). We ordered the Kai and the Queen and both were delicious! Would definitely recommend making time for this restaurant.
Great pancakes and a unique experience to boot! Be sure to make a reservation and arrive a few minutes early. They only have 4 small tables and need to get their other guests through. Despite the strict rules, the two co-owners are super friendly. Most importantly, the food is great.
