Panama Nautical Club & Cala Mia Resort exceeded our expectations. From the moment that we arrived to Panama City up to the arrival to the resort; everything was flawless and every detail was taken care by them. We are already planning to return there. The resort is in excellent conditions and is located on a beautiful island with a privileges location. The food is outstanding! Many activities available for entertaining everyone in the family. I went there for the fishing experience; everything else was a plus. The boats are in excellent shape as well as the fishing equipment. The captains and the mates know their duties and perform them well. Fishing is kind of a lucky thing, but when you are with the right team on your boat the odds are in your favor. Congratulations to David and the excellent team that he has put together to help him to create good memories for all the visitors.

Our second trip to this resort and would only go here if fishing in Panama again. Accommodations are clean, with amenities, private villas all of which have decks overlooking the ocean. Food is fantastic along with open bar. Service at its best! This was a fishing trip with my two sons. We had great catches on well maintained boats and professional captains. Caught a bucket list 500+ Marlin. Highly recommend.

After nearly 6 months of talking and planning, my wife and I booked 8 days at Cala Mia / Panama Nautical Club for March 2022. The owner, David, created a custom package that was the perfect mix of fishing (for meand non-fishing activities (to interest my wife). With the last-minute addition of an in-shore fishing day, I had three days on the water. Together, we hiked, rode horses, snorkeled and traveled to the beautiful town of Boquette for birding and exploration.From the time we were greeted by Marta, who whisked us through customs in Panama City, until we boarded our plane in David to return home, everything Cala Mia planned for us was first class. The drivers, tour guides, fishing captains and first mates, resort staff, chef and sous chef, bartenders, etc., were professional, knowledgeable and hard-working. We were treated like royalty.Despite unseasonably warm water, we (thanks to Captain Antonio and First Mate Michaelsuccessfully caught 5 yellowfin our first day out. I caught three sailfish with Antonio and Michael on day 2 and two rooster fish on day 3, with Captain Fred. It was an incredible experience and I can’t wait to do it again.While I was out fishing, my wife relaxed by the pool, enjoyed a massage with Gladis and read on our bungalow’s deck overlooking the ocean. We loved that the resort was relatively small and we were able to interact with the handful of other guests, the staff and the resort dogs.It would be an injustice not to mention the quality of the food. Night after night, we were awed by the richness, creativity and presentation of the entrees. Prawns, lobster, tuna, snapper, steak, etc., were on par with the finest restaurants in which we’ve dined. The desserts were inventive and tasty, too. The lunch menu (in the restaurantwas delicious and beautiful, and the box lunches for our all-day excursions were also wonderful. To cap off our week, Janice, the sous chef/pastry chef (and chef Adan’s wife), went out of her way to make a special birthday cake for my 60th birthday.We highly recommend Cala Mia / Panama Nautical Club, whether you’re a hard-core angler or a family needing a getaway. You won’t be disappointed and will leave as we did… asking, “when can we return?”.

My husband went on a fishing trip with them. He said it was AWESOME. They Freddy Boca were very helpful, educational, and made it a fun and great experience for his first time out deep sea fishing.

This my favorite place to go. They take care of every little detail. Service is outstanding, food five star, and fishing is great. It is safe and peaceful, sunrise and sunsets are the best you will ever see.

I almost never leave reviews, but Panama Nautical Club and its staff were so outstanding, in every regard, that they deserve one. From arrival in Panama City to departure from same, and all events in between, this is a truly first class act. The lodging was spectacular, modern and immaculate, the food better than that in almost all high end restaurants, and the staff (both on shore and fishing boat crewswere friendly, helpful and knew their stuff. I spent 4 of the 5 days at the lodge fishing, my girlfriend spent the time on short reading, bird watching, doing yoga, getting massages, and kayaking. It worked great for both of us, and we cant wait to go back.

Fantastic location for fishing the Pacific Ocean.The best hospitality ever, very comfortable place to stay, the best I have been to..400lb black marlin,350lb blue marlin, 100lb sailfish plus lots more.

Place was amazing! Fishing didn’t go so well but that’s just fishing! Just gives me an excuse to go back! I’d highly recommend this place to everyone! They treated us like family! Rooms were really nice with even better views! Can’t wait to go back for more! Hopefully the water temp will be cooler so the fish cooperate! Thank You so much Panama nautical club!

Cala Mia is amazing! Perhaps the best family vacation weve been on. From the moment you arrive you are treated with the utmost courtesy. The epitome of great customer service. The staff is amazing. Gladys is the BEST. We will miss everyone. The accommodations are top notch, my 3 kids stayed in the Beach House, which couldve fit us all and then some. My wife and I stayed in a bungalow overlooking the ocean. Absolutely gorgeous views. Our first day we went on a hike with Gladys. She took us along the trails and up to the top of a nearby mountain with beautiful views of the island and ocean. The monkeys are pretty cool also. The other days we went fishing and snorkeling. We brought in some huge tunas and mahis. The boats are well equipped and in great shape. I like to take naps while on the water, there were plenty of areas to lay down but the bean bags are the best. The captain and first mate worked very hard to put us in the best spots to catch the fish. At night we would relax at the restaurant. Alex is an amazing bartender. Finally, the food... Its phenomenal! Better than most 5 star restaurants. Wed come up for drinks first and the chef would put together whatever youre in the mood for. Dinner the first night was delicious, I thought it couldnt get any better. I was wrong, each night it was better and better. My wife took pictures of all of the dishes, not only were they delicious but they were plated beautifully. On our trip home, we had a 5 hour layover in Panama City so David the resort owner, arranged for a drive to pick us up at the airport and take us to the Panama Canal and to see other sites of the city. Theres only one way to describe Cala Mia... Paradise.Thank you Cala Mia and all of your wonderful staff for a great vacation and for the memories we will cherish forever.

David and his staff operate a fantastic resort. We celebrated our honeymoon at Cala Mia and were treated to first class amenities and services. We spent our days catching rooster fish, hiking in the jungle with the howler monkeys, learning to scuba dive, zip lining in mountains, horseback riding in the local hillsides and poolside at the resort. The food and drink was exceptional. The staff really made the stay memorable. They really took notice of any of our needs and accommodated them to the fullest. The food is delicious and we found ourselves excited to see what the next days menus would bring.

We recently got back from a trip to Panama Nautical Club. I can’t say enough great things about this place. The lodge is beautiful, immaculately manicured, clean, great views. The infinity pool was a perfect way to cool off after a hot day of fishing, hiking, diving, etc.Our bartender/waiter, Alex, was phenomenal! You can tell he loves his job and excels at concocting some of the most delicious elaborate cocktails. He’s there with you all day serving you whatever you desire with a smile. The girls enjoyed our massages on our relaxed day off.The rooms were cleaned daily and clothing was laundered which was a huge help because we only were able to bring carry-ons.We had two days offshore fishing planned but it was a bit rough due to the unusual ocean swell but Captain Chi-Chi and Michael did their best to put us on fish. Chi-Chi would chat with us each night before our charter to see what we would like to do so he could best meet our goals. The first day we caught wahoo, mahi, and barracuda. The second day we caught a few nice rooster fish. The best day was our inshore fishing/scuba dive/spearfishing. The dives were nice. Fred, our guide, was great while spotting sharks, rays, eels, turtles etc. He set us up with all the equipment we needed for the dive and equipment for one spear fisher. We hammered the roosterfish on our inshore day catching five. All of them were large, one being around 70lbs and made for an exciting fight.Our favorite part was the food. Chef Adan cooks the most fresh, scrumptious tasting meals any of us had ever had at a lodge or resort. Breakfasts were made to order and cooked fresh every morning even before charters. The lunches on board were excellent and plentiful with fresh fruits and snacks. Dinners were spectacular using fresh fish, clams, lobster, etc. The beef steak was by far the best we’d ever had in any foreign country. I would give every meal five stars.Last, I was super thankful for the owner, David and his planning skills. He was quick with his responses and had significant knowledgeable on travel plans. He booked all our travel once we got into Panama and all our excursions once on the island. The ease of planning is worth every penny. You can tell he loves island life and prides himself in his incredible team and lodge. He was an absolute pleasure to work with before the trip and even more so during the trip. He just wants you to have a great time! We would all highly suggest visiting Cala Mia/Panama Nautical Club and can’t wait to go back.

David, Alex, Alan, Fed and the rest of the team created a once in a lifetime experience for my wife and I. Drinks and Food were prepared by masters of their craft. Boat captains were world class. No detail goes over looked at this place. Staff available what seemed like 24/7. I highly recommend.

Our time at Panama Nautical club was a once in a lifetime experience! The location on the peninsula on Boca Brava Island is world class. We enjoyed every sunrise and sunset from the balcony of the restaurant during the spectacular meals that Panama Nautical club had to offer. The best part of our whole trip was the insane Tuna fishing. Carlos could not have been a better captain and he certainly put us on the fish. We can not wait to return to Panama Nautical Club!

Caught a Marlin, great experience! Beautiful place, great service, rooms cleaned daily. We caught Tuna, Cabrera snapper, boat staff were awesome! Staff were all very friendly and eager to serve! We’ll be back!

My son and I had a phenomenal time here!Found it online and didnt know what to expect, so I called before booking and asked lots of questions. Everything was as described.The location is absolutely unreal, the fishing was top notch, the scuba was spectacular and the staff were highly accommodating and professional.Our 4 night stay included evening jungle hikes that started with us walking out our room and across the resort beach, and ended with us calling to howler monkeys on a vista overlooking the Pacific. The fishing boats are meticulously maintained and have Garmin tech, elite turbo engines and everything else needed for a killer day on the water. We caught (and releaseda 400 pound Marlin, a 50 pound Dorado (Mahi-Mahi that was wonderfully prepared for dinner by the kitchen that night), Roosterfish and more.My 12 year old son was treated with great respect and kindness, and we felt very safe and in diligent hands during our scuba day at Isla Seca.The owner (David), checked in on us regularly to ensure our stay and activities were up to his high standards. We are ready to go back soon - THIS PLACE IS GREAT!

I went with a group of friends as well as my soon to be father-in-law. It exceeded my expectations in so many ways, it was the trip of a lifetime. We fished for three days and caught exactly what we made the hike to Panama for, a blue and black marlin and more yellowfin than we could manage :as well as the notorious Rooster fish. Every member of the staff was extraordinary. Special thanks to our captain Carlos for putting us on the fish! In the morning our delicious breakfast ready at 530am and lunches packed in our coolers. By the end of day one they already knew what we liked to drink which was an amazing way to relax by the pool after the day on the boat. It was exceptional. Thank you to everyone at Cali Mia Island Resort for such a memorable experience and making us feel so at home. I will be back soon!

My son and I stayed 5 nights at the Cala Mia Island Resort (fantasticand fished with the Panama Nautical Club for 3 full days (1 offshore & 2 inshore). Our fishing experience was exceptional. Our Captain, Carlos, and his First Mate, Christian, knew the locals waters like the back of their hands. My son had a wish-list of 5 species of fish he hoped to catch and he landed 3 out of 4 including 10 of the elusive Rooster fish, which the crew said was a record for one day! They knew all the right fishing spots for each species including Wahoo, Tuna (lots of good eating), Rooster and Cubera Snapper and they were kind, courteous and safe. We missed the Marlin this time but will definitely be back! Beautiful days on the waters of Panama!

Fish on!My wife and I fished out of Cala Mia Resort on Isla Boca Brava. We fished one full day and two half days. We got 19 yellowfin tuna and two big bull dorado in the boat the first day. We caught many of the tuna casting jerkbaits and poppers. There are few other thrills in fishing that compare with chasing blitzing tuna and watching a 50lb tuna inhale your topwater lure!!!The other days we spend pursuing the numerous inshore species around the islands. We caught rooster fish, cubera snapper, jack crevalle, horse eye jack, and even a couple of big needlefish. Casting topwater lures while slow trolling live bait produced many fish.The captains at Cala Mia were great. They were knowledgeable and friendly. It was great to fish with and learn from them. The gear was all high quality, and top notch. I usually bring my own gear when I go fish but there is no need to bring your gear to Cala Mia unless you want to.I will be back to fish out of Cala Mia without a doubt, its just a matter of how soon and how many of my fishing buddies will be coming with me!

This place is unbelievable! Not only is it absolutely beautiful, but the service is incredible as well. I really like the fact that there are not hundreds of people there so you feel like you are having more of a private experience.The fishing is fantastic. The captains/crews are absolute professionals. Carlos and Christian were amazing to fish with!!

To say this place is special is such an understatement!! I decided to visit for my 40th birthday in an effort to have one of the most epic weeks on the water of my life. The crazy thing about this place is that even if I hadnt of had an absolutely amazing fishing adventure the resort itself was worth the trip 10 fold. The service was top notch & endearing. The food was 5 star quality all made from scratch. The villas and resort was beautiful and spread out to make you feel as if you were the only ones there. David and Ana were there to ensure we the the vacation of our lives and Ive been to dozens of high end resorts over the years but this place takes takes the top spot in my book. I was also fortunate to have 3 days fishing throughout the week, I highly recommend fishing, resting, fishing, resting, and fishing bc my body was worn after being put on so many fish that were so large. Everyday said it was going to rain bc it was the rainy season but we only ran across rain one time in the 3 days out. Carlos is an amazing captain and his mate Christian teamed up to be a world class crew. I filled my coolers with yellowfin tuna, caught monster rooster fish, and also caught 2 black marlin and had 4 bites that day in what is supposed to be the "off season". My wife caught the biggest fish of her life as well so overall I highly recommend this destination to EVERYONE!

Even after high expectations, this was an amazing choice. The lodge is beautiful and the service was to notch. Not to mention the family facilities and panoramic view. The crew and boat outstanding. 14 tuna in 2 hours. I will be back.

First class experience!

This place is even better than the pictures and the fishing is even better than the legends. From the time we arrived in panama we did not lift a finger. Their staff operated transfers; both ground and boat, were seamless and they were always ready for any activity at a moments notice. My wife and I caught 23 yellowfin tuna all 70-120 lbs, 5 Mahi 20-35 lbs, one 40lb rooster and a 25 lb cubera in 4 days of fishing. The guides have it down to a science and you can participate as much or as little as you want.The owner, David, is very involved and it shows. The place runs like a very clean and well oiled machine and you dont have to say anything twice. He makes sure you get whatever you need before you even need it.The drinks are top shelf and the food is excellent. There are plenty of activities for those not fishing as well. we stayed for 6 days but I could easily spend 10 days there. And if you only have 3 days it would still be worth it. I have been fortunate enough to stay at some of the worlds nicest private islands and this resort offers a similar experience at a fraction of the price. We are already planning our next visit!!

Been fishing for over 30 years and this was one of the best trips ever. Had the pleasure of being with three veterans on their dream trip to Panama. Panama Nautical Club did them a great service. Two of the veterans had never been off shore fishing - after three days, they were worn out. Great lodge, great food, great crew, great people. Wow what a great place and Crews that new their stuff backwards and front. My son and I landed 3 Marlin a sailfish, Jack, Snapper, Rooster and more Dorado ( Mahi Mahithan you can shake a stick at. When we got back to shore they had cool drinks waiting for us and had our catch on a plate for dinner. David, Aura, Captain Carlos just Amazing hosts.. Highly recommended .. The Legend is an amazing fishing boat, Great AC in the rooms, Great food . Felt like family.

This place is a real gem. I look forward to going back, but with my wife next time.I and some guy friends went for a fishing trip and had two great days of fishing with Capitan Chi Chi and mate Edward where we pulled mahi, tuna, rooster and jack, and jousted with the black marlin that unfortunately got away. While on the water we sighted some hump back whales breaching.But we were pleasantly surprised to find much more than a sport fishing excursion. This is a boutique resort that our ladies will love to. The ocean side cabanas with king size beds and grass hut covered patios are magical. The private beach with bar and water activities is clean and friendly. The island hike, which was about an hour long, brings you to a vista overlooking a magnificent coastline. And the rope bridge to the massage hut on the cliff adds a nice touch.The chef expertly prepared our fresh catches of mahi and tuna and provided lots of other delicious dishes as well. The staff was fun and provided excellent personalized service.Highly recommended.

I just returned from five days at the Panama Nautical Club for some fishing and relaxation with a few friends. After the first day I was already working on my next trip back with a bigger group. The fishing with Capitan Chi Chi was excellent - both deep sea for Mahi, Tuna and Marlin and more inland for Rooster. The accommodations could not have been more personalized. The island is private with two great beaches, the chefs are skilled and prepared our fish along with a great menu, and the rest of the staff could not have been more attentive. Highly recommend.

My son and I take a fishing trip every year. Last year it was fly-fishing in Colorado, this year it was Big Game Fishing in Panama. Panama Nautical Club is located around 50 miles from a prominent oceanic ridge. This is where the baitfish hang out and it is also where the marlin live. On the first day I caught a Black Marlin that was estimated at about 400 pounds by the captain. Billfish are catch and release in this area but the fish was approximately 7.5 feet long. My son caught a 350-pound Black Marlin that same day. We also caught Wahoo, Tuna, a very large Dorado and multiple Roosterfish.Fishing lodges tend to be somewhat spartan. I am pretty much OK with that. But the Panama Nautical Club was different. It was a true luxury resort. Everyone talks about “gourmet food, but they actually delivered. The lobster was fantastic, and we ate our tuna, six hours after it was caught. You can’t get much fresher than that. Most dinners had multiple courses and all drinks are included in the price (My 27-year-old son loved that part). They also have non-fishing activities such as horseback riding, two beaches, a pool and a hike to “Monkey mountain.” We went with another group with included a nine-year old boy. His father and he took a day off to partake in the other activities. That was probably the nine-year old’s favorite dayThe best part, however, was the staff (not just the captain and first mate. They really went overboard to attend to our needs. We actually got to know them personally. They greeted us by name each day and worked hard to make our fishing trip special.

Wonderful experience, the location is beautiful, the staff were extremely helpful, the fishing was fantastic and the food, the food was divine. Best resort experience weve had in a long time.

Ladies- next time your hubby invites you fishing do NOT hesitate!!! Not only was the fishing amazing with International Captain Chi-Chi but the Resort, restaurant, and staff get my 5 star review. The outstanding service and quality of the food was excellent! We want to bring our college kids back next time but they will have to earn it!! Do not miss this place!!!

Great vacation resort!! Beautiful location in the Gulf of Chiriqui, with turqoise ocean and white sand beaches. Amazing staff and excellent food!

Wow, what an experience that was. This fishing group is a diamond in the ruff. We went because we thought it would be a fishing trip, but ended up being a catching trip. Never caught so many fish in my life! We will be back! Also the staff at the resort were amazing and they cooked our fish we caught!!! I can not believe how affordable it was!!! Already booked for two more trips this year!

This is the best Island based fishing lodge in the Gulf of Chiriqui, Panama. The bungalow sit right on the water and had hot water, AC, wifi and a nice outdoor seating area. Tuna fishing was incredible, we landed 9 tuna one day and 2 black marlins the next. After fishing sat at the Beach bar watching the pacific rise and fall ... great service, quality offshore boats and captain spoke great english.

Discovered an AMAZING gem with fantastic fishing and also family friendly. Panama Nautical combines world class sport fishing with a small secluded boutique paradise island resort (Cala Mia). Great to not have to choose between fishing and family. While out catching monster tuna, family can snorkel, kayak, paddle board, swim, play on beach, bird watch, and see monkeys!). Fine dining restaurant for all meals with fantastic food. Super friendly, attentive staff (English and Spanish). Unbelievable views from beautiful cabanas and restaurant. Grounds are a tropical garden.We had a 6 day vacation planned, 3 days at Panama Nautical/Cala Mia and 3 days at another resort. When about to check in at the other resort, with all family regretting having left, we arranged our return to spend all 6 days. We plan to make it an annual trip.

Excellent service, first class accommodations, food was on point and the fishing was great. Aura made our entire trip worthwhile. She really pays attention to detail right down to my favorite scotch. Captain CHI CHI and his son were a pleasure to fish with. They certainly know where the fish are and how to catch them. I will definitely be coming back with my entire family next time. I highly recommend them !!

Great day on the water , slow start but ended STRONG - 2 marlin, dorado and a rooster to close out the day. Great lodge and food was A1. The beach bar is the place to watch the sun set.
