Camden Market, North Yard, Chalk Farm Rd, Camden NW1 8AH, Ban Houakhoua
Chai, espresso & desserts, plus South Asian cafe fare, offered in bustling, brick-walled surrounds.
Been coming to Pam ban since pre pandemic and love the chai, the atmosphere, and the service. Shout out to Nav for the friendly service over the years!
Incredible Chai and Coffee here! Was highly impressed. Nav is a deeply good looking man and very single! Ladies take note!
I was in Camden on Friday and fancied sitting down and grabbing a flat white somewhere within the market. My other half isnt a coffee drinker but loves autumn spices so when we saw PamBans Chai & Coffee we thought we give it a try.Nav, the chap on the door was exceptionally helpful, he explained all the different types of Chai and how they vary, he even offered us a tater of the home brew Chai to gauge whether we wanted our Chai spicier, sweeter, more creamy and so on.My other half chose the Karak while I just got a regular Flat White. My Flat White was genuinely the nicest coffee I have ever had!My other half and I both tried her Karak and it was insanely good - so much show when Nav suggested they they have packets you can take home to brew we snapped up as many as we could.Nav is exceptional at his job and had there been more stock of the instant Chai and the Rose flavours we would have bought a heel of a lot more than we did, however, Nav did steer us towards the website.Overall, Pam Ban was a fantastic experience with exceptional coffee and Chai and Nav is an absolute credit to the business. He is everything customer service should be!
We had Kadak Chai it was amazing. The people working here are very nice and they have a simple and beautiful ambience. Has both indoor and outdoor seating as well.
I have been coming for the last 2 weeks consecutively from Essex, to finaly have a try of the famously known best coffee ever..every day they are closed...will keep coming though
Lovely place, the best Chai Latte in London. Great food too, we had a really nice brunch. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely return next time we are in Camden. How soon is now?
Tasty food and delicious iced drinks the iced Shrilankan Coffee and jaggery milkshake were just the think on a scorching hot day and cooling us down after spicy samosas and chicken sandwich
The toasties are to die for! Lovely setting and great service. The oat milk latte is the best I have ever had. We will definitely visit again.
Had a lovely Pimms and cake. Lots of cakes to choose from. Good service
Friendly helpful staff, spicy chai and the best toasties we’ve had. Pan Ban thank you Mam!
Great Chai Latte recipe. Nice welcome and very fresh food!! Thanks
Visiting from Australia.Found this fantastic cafe with a cool vibe in Camden markets. We had chicken and cheese toasties with mango chutney! So delicious. Great coffee and chai. Service was friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend this cafe to everyone
A lovely trendy cafe to visit if you want good food with a twist and great drinks. I had the chicken toastie and was so happy that they took out the spice for me. Their staff and so nice and diligent with your needs. 100% recommend!
A perfect place to get a break from all the walking in Camden. The people here are wonderful & welcoming. They have a fantastic set of hit beverages, and theyre all great and lovely pastries to go with it.!
Very strong chai tea, couldn’t drink it and I love chai tea, lots of ginger. We also had a cookie, which wasn’t fresh, it was very dry. The service was the only good thing. I wouldn’t recommend it
Lovely place in Camden Market. Beaitifully decorated chai tea is up there with disroom chai . The selection of pastries could be more varied. Would I recommend this place 100% yes
Nice place to get out of the cold and warm up with a superb cinnamon chai. Waiter was helpful and friendly. A bit pricey
The chai great flavour not too sweet just very nicely balanced. I just had a toasty but honestly that filled me up, I would maybe not have so much mango chutney in there, however you can just remove any excess. Regardless that toasty is very very yummy and filling.
I was served a soya iced latte with literal chunks of milk in. I told the waitress and she replied thats what happens to soya milk, which obviously isnt true. I asked them to replace it and the staff were hostile and resentful the rest of the time we were there. Terrible coffee, shameful service.
Stopped by for Chai tea and coffee with a friend. Lovely spot with a warm and friendly staff.
Our favourite coffee shop in London. I only have great things to say about the staff, management and their coffee! They are super friendly and kind! Their Vegan Mocha and Vegan Hot Chocolate are my favorite! My husband, my friends and I cant wait to visit soon and spend the day chatting and chilling while we work on our laptops.
Coffee is good, nice atmosphere. Not a very large selection of snacks / desserts
Quirky café in Camden Market with a touch of Sri Lanka. Havent tried the food but the 5 cheese sandwich was intriguing! The karak chai was pretty good. Nice place might go again to try the food.
I tried the chicken lampries and the Kithul milkshake.Lamprise was disappointing as it was not fresh. The rice was too dry from maybe leaving in the oven for too long while heating up. There was flavour in the individual items but definitely not close to an authentic fresh lampries. I know.... because I’m Sri Lankan. It’s a good attempt but you can better elsewhere. The milkshake was very nice.
I loved hot chocolate, there was definitely a novelty factor to dissolving the chocolate in the delightful rose flavoured milk. However our food took a long time to come, although they gave two portions that wasnt really useful as it was too heavy for me. The cheese toastie wasnt really cheesy and so in the end it was late and didnt really eat much however it looked colourful and interesting 🤷♀️. I had higher expectations of the brunch.
Best hot chocolate in the market. Great taste and very good service
Its not that the food and coffee wasnt a good standard - it was definitely nice. However, the service just didnt match the price-tag. Neither did the lack of toilet facilities. Even though the following all seem like fairly small things - for the amount they charge (about a £1 more than other coffee in London), Id expect way better. They were out of cheese and we werent told until we had already ordered. They were nice enough about the situation but it would have been nice to know before. When my avocado on toast arrived, it was the tiniest portion. I also had to go up to get my blondie because theyd forgotten to bring it over. However, very good latte art and coffee beans though.
Great place for breakfast or brunch in Camden market. Not a huge selection of dishes but everything we ordered was fantastic, with some unique twists on classic dishes.Food arrives as it is ready which I dont normally have a problem with, but in this case we had to wait a while from the first dish to the last dish arriving.Overall, a great experience with friendly and helpful staff in a nice environment.
The stars are only for the food which was delicious. However the service was a whole other story. Waited over an hour for my brunch whilst my friend got hers within 30 mins. Staff were coming out of the kitchen saying orders out loud and aimlessly trying to find the person who ordered it. Even though there were table numbers! Also poor communication from Waiters who kept telling me my food would be 5 more minutes. They definitely needed more staff to cope with a Sunday crowd.
Always seek this spot while in Camden to dive into modern type SriLankan Cafe. They offer a great selection of drinks worth to try and enjoy. I like their "Karak" Tea with saffron, it gives this warm sensation. Guys, do not miss the food items on the list. Certainly creative taste to remember and come back.
✓ Vegetarian & Vegan OptionsWHAT I HAD: Tumeric Vegan Chai [£4.00]; Sri Lankan Lamprais [£10.50] – (Vegan & MuttonA historical Sri Lankan and Dutch influenced rice and curry served in a banana leaf with beetroot, aubergine, cashew nut curry and onion relish.I was in Camden pretty early in the morning, so most shops weren’t opened yet. I across PamBan and it had an interesting menu (coffee and hot food? Yes please!), so I decided to have my breakfast here as I was really hungry. You order and pay at the counter, and it will be served to you. I had the Vegan Sri Lankan Lamprais with Tumeric Vegan Chai. The Lamprais was very flavourful with an interesting combination of sweet, savoury and spice (it’s not spicy though if you’re afraid of spice). My mum enjoyed her mutton Lamprais. However, I felt a bit cheated with the Vegan Lamprais because it’s essentially the same but without any curry. Without any substitution to a non-vegetarian (Chicken/Pork/MuttonLamprais, this makes the vegan Lamprais dry and way more expensive (it is the same price as any other Meat Lamprais). As much as I enjoyed the mix of flavours, I wouldn’t recommend the Lamprais if you’re getting it vegetarian/vegan as it just doesn’t justify the price. Even the meat Lamprais, I do think it’s a bit expensive as well as there wasn’t a lot of meat in it according to my mum.The place is spacious and airy, with a soothing and warm atmosphere. The staff were really friendly, helpful and attentive. We enjoyed our coffee and chai.Overall, the Lamprais we had was flavourful and unique but overpriced for what we got. They do have a lot of other interesting dishes on the menu and baked foods, so I will possibly visit Pamban again if I am in the area for good Chai, Coffee and snacks. If you are thinking of trying Pamban, do keep in mind that the prices are slightly higher compared to other stalls in Camden Market, but it is one of the shops/café in Camden Market that has nice spacious and comfortable seating if that’s what you are looking for.
Friendly and prompt service! Spacious cafes with ample seating located at Camden market. Got the iced Sri Lankan coffee and iced rose chai latte, both were great!
Ordered a Iced Chai Rose, it does taste like rose after all. Nice.
I am usually not a huge chai fan, but boy did they change my mind. I got the house chai which they said was a good balance of the spice and sweetness. So good! Also, get the Kithul Waffle...you will not be disappointed.
Super delicious and fun food - different from what you’d normally get. Definitely try the Lamprais, we had chicken and mutton. Fun, full of flavour, and a good sized portion. Drinks menu is extensive and amazing - too many to pick! Will be back again.
Based on most of the reviews, I think we came at a bad time.. but the cafe *was* open, so not cool.It was pretty much empty when we arrived but all tables needed a wipe. Someone came as soon as we sat down and apologised while cleaning the table. He was very good about it, chatting while using his hand to shield us from the spray. We ordered at the counter and not long after a huge family group entered taking up many tables. After my husband received his awkward looking star anise G&T and many in the huge family group also received their drinks, I returned to the counter to ask about mine.. the Karak finally arrived in a disposable cup.The drinks were good but the experience overall was not worth a return visit.
Been here 4 times. First time was great, attentive owner, presentation and quality of food great. Second visit, eggs cold and I think precooked, service slow. Third visit, pretty empty and I ordered the same meal as the first time but was quite shocked at the difference. Portion about 40 per cent smaller, presentation lacked lustre and they forgot my coffee. Fourth visit, service slow , coffee barely like warm. Really wanted to love this place and after the first visit I thought I would. There wont be a 5th visit :(
Ive been here a couple of times already, and even thought the two sweets we tried were notmind blowing and that the coffee is not "the best", the place is really nice, and the chai is a good thing to drink while you get a rest from walking around Candem.
Very nice spot in Camden, the cheese toast with chili jam was a little soggy (definitely order something else), but the tea was fantastic and the desserts looked wonderful. Great place to stop for a break while exploring the neighborhood.
Amazing Chai and tea, Simon was amazing. He corrected a mistake that was made but did so with easy. He obviously knew what to do in a tense situation, as for the tea house. One word; AMAZING! Fresh tea leafs and all, the seating was pretty good too. It wasnt too busy, youre in Camden Market so expect a level of businesses. The shop was like 80% full and we still found seats, it was great. Thank you.
Just awesome. Camden at its best. Food here is incredible but beware, you may have to wait as its very popular. Its definitely worth it however.
Really good coffee and food looked amazing, unfortunately though the staff kept delivery food/drinks to the wrong table (always ours it seemedso got very annoying
Truly amazing experience. Fantastic tea selection, great tasting beverages and fab selection of snacks to go with it. We ordered 3 tea selection which included the rose tea, masala chai and the saffron karak chai. Amazing customer service. Must visit. Credit cards accepted. Beautiful ambience.
Super cool staff and lots of Vegan options.
Have been here twice now - really interesting food. Last time, I had the chilli cheese toast and although it was lovely, I would recommend going for the curry dish (which I tried the first time). Service was warm and friendly on both occasions but could benefit from more efficiency.
Nice decor, nice atmosphere, nice staff, great presentation. Coffee sucks though; burnt espresso and iced coffee tastes like it was make three weeks ago.
Went here soon after it opened, and the chai is pretty awesome. Definitely worth a stop if youre in Camden, or even if youre not its a good choice to go to for a nice afternoon tea! Have not tried the food there but will definitely be back. Service is friendly, and are helpful in suggestions and explanations.
A great find in the bustling market area at Camden Stables. The chai tempted us in an we indulged in that, hot chocolate, and a jaggery milkshake - which I was delighted to find, having not had one in this country. As expected it was delicious, with pistachio crumbled on top.I got barfi but will be back for a pistachio croissant. The staff are delightful - my only complaint was that it wasn’t too warm and they’d turned off the heaters inside. I turned one back on myself.
Have nearly filled my loyalty card up, love this place, and have found the best hot chocolate ever - Rose hot chocolate
Where do I begin? The amazing ambience, the natural lighting and aesthetic, or the fine selection of Chai (which is teaand coffee?A small but humble and cosy cafe, Pamban serves the best selection of organic coffee that Ive ever tasted.Service is fantastic- they even offered to let us try their signature milkshake which was unbelievably great. If I recall, they use only natural ingredients! Its perfect for a tea time sit down and chill, an alternative to a bar.
