Palmse, 45435 Lääne-Viru County, Estonia, Kohtla-Jarve
18th-century baroque château offering tours & activities, including carriage rides & wine tastings.
Be very careful on your steps otherwise youll step the tiny frogs on the pathways.
5 euro entrance fee for the open air museum. If you want to enter the buildings as well, the fee is 10 euro.Very nice place with 3 hikes foreseen (1,5, 3 and 5km). The park has clearly undergone significant renovation. Some items still remain to do (wooden bridge, viewpointbut overall a nice experience. Very large and brand new toilets have been foreseen. Lady at the reception was friendly and there is a small gift shop. 4g coverage is good.
Very impressive and nice location but PLEASE give those budgies a bigger cage!!!!! They need to be able to fly!
Shows lot of historic factsNice place
Historically significant old Manor. Home to the von Pahlen family. Extensive gardens, or buildings, and lands. We visited our of hours and still got access to the gardens.
Super👍
13 th century house. Small shop and parking available
A very nice place with an interesting history. The best guide Saima! Thank you.
So much hoped yo have a coffee in the terrace but despite of summer everything was closed
This was 350km driving day from Tallin to the university town of Tartu looking at a national park (Lahemaa), two renovated manor houses ( Palmse and Sagadi manorand the Tartu Observatory which is a UNESCO site as part the Struve Geodetic Arc. The latter being a chain of survey triangulations stretching over 2,820 kilometres and ten countries from Norway to the Black Sea. The arc yielded the first accurate measurement of a meridian arc.Palmse Manor was the best of the two manor houses seen today. This was reflected in the price of €10 against €4. However the overall standard of Palmse was higher all round in regard to amenities, quality of the manor interior, displays and the manor grounds. We wished we had another hour or two there to see more of the grounds and other buildings.Sagadi Manor was okay, worthy of the entry price but in my view it was half the quality of Palmse.
Ok.
When we were here, the museum was closed and it was free to visit the territory (except buildings). Nice and atmospheric place with old trees, wild ducks on a pond.Be aware not to hit your head in the cellar behind the pond!
Nice as always. Not to many visitors. Which is not good for business, of course.
Nice little place, good to swing by if youre driving around the national park!
Nice museum with a great park
Interesting. Peaceful. Historic. Highly recommended!
Very beautiful and nice place
▶️ Palmse Manor is known as one of the most beautiful manors in Estonia. The manor was first mentioned in 1510 as a nun monastery. In later centuries it belonged to von der Pahlen family until the Estonian declaration of independence in 1919.Manor was built in 1697 but it was made the way we see it nowadays in 18th century.💥The house was badly destroyed during the Great northern war and restored in 1730It has been renovated one more time in 1970-1980s.Apart from the manor house, there are also several beautiful outhouses, such as a distillery, cafe, guesthouse, greenhouse and barn, as well as a great park with typical romantic pavilions and a beautiful pond.👉 During high season entrence ticket for this museum is priced 9€ for adults. A bit high... however, definitely worth a visit.
Very well maintained. Nice place to visit and not too far from Tallinn
My favorite manor in Estonia. Gorgeous park, beautiful buildings, peaceful walking in the forest. In the main building works museum.
Large rooms, relaxing parks and abundant breakfast
+ very nice place to visit. Especially the horse carriage ride- in peak summer time they dont have enough drink options available at the cafe.(they ran out everything)
Great historical place. Restoration could be nice, but overall it’s very nice. Big park, pond, manor, tourist information, hotel, etc.
Had stay near manor during conference, nice place in winters have sauna and a lake nearby
Authentically renovated and really interesting, quite a lot to see both inside and especially outside
Very beautiful place to visit
Interesting for history buffs and a nice walk around the area. Very photogenic as well.
Very interesting place
Lovely gardens and house. Very peaceful
Example of 1700s style German manor. Not suitable for wheelchairs as three floors all with stair access only.
Amazing! It has been our first time in that beautiful place, and I absolutely recommend it to everyone, who visits Estonia, especially during summer time. The manor is fantastic and the atmoshere there is so relaxing! I loved absolutely everything about our visit there! Definitely a must see, & I cant wait to come back💚
Ticket person is quiet mean, otherwise is a place to visit.
Greight to have a walk. Also you can dine at the tavern where you will be served simple Estonian national food.
Beautiful with great history. Nice wine cellar. Great for special events.
Rustic place to stay with small rooms in nice gardens. Beware the biting insects even with windows closed
Beautiful barock castle (with stables, pavilions etc etcsurrounded by gardens and forrest in the Lahemaa national park. Nice indoors and great short hiking paths nearby.I honestly liked this one way more than the bigger ones in the baltic states - its more calm and theres nature nearby.I would recommend you to go to the "breast Pavillon" as it is a stunning lookout point over the woods and lakes. The next must have seen part is the Smith in the castle gardens. Hes a very kind man showing you his astonishing collection of arms from different time periods (no separate entrance fee, but a small tip is adequate).Parking lot nearby, free of charge.
Good for kids as there are some entertainment such as poneys ride and croquet game.Entrance fee for both park and manor, including a ride in calèche with poneys. Of course kids love it.Inside the manor: every piece is a 18/19th century and exquisite.Diverse paintings and sculptures of men with big moustaches, photos of ladies and families show that habits and fashion here were very similar than in Germany and France.Interiors are exquisite. The park is composed of several gardens and buildings : bath, guesthouse, saunas, distillery (long chimney), winter garden. And places such as ponds or an orchardThis is nice park to enjoy, do not look for a precious garden with everything sized in a strict shape. No, this is well maintained natural garden.
Very impressive show of old days glory. Beautiful interior, nice park.
Beautiful palace and magnificent garden. Great for families. Very quiet and relaxing place.
Very beautiful, old track, apple garden, supper fresh air.
Beautiful manor with plenty of space and trails to wander around.
Excellent complex of houses, 2 exipitions, an apple yard, a small winter greenhouse, winery, forest trails, i love it
Lovely manor house with a nice garden.
Couldnt find ticket office, manor looked nice. We found the info that tickets are sold in the other end of a lauborors house, but only foud cute animals. Please ad more signpost or info to your website!!! Our visit ended before it even started.
Manor house was overflowing with period pieces and information, overdone to my taste. Walls around the grounds were quite nice. What really made our day was the smithy. His knowledge, willingness to share, site and tell were amazing. Unfortunately for most is that his second language is German.
Nice for a walk through the woods
Probably the best maintained, restored and preserved Manor House in Estonia.Lovely grounds, nice restaurant on site with views over the lake. Visitors centre with a great RMK display. Theres a shop in the ticket office selling the usual gifts.Spirit distillery museum, orangery, plenty of walks around the grounds and a maze. The house itself is beautifully presented with each room well explained, plaques on the walls give you the history of the house and the family. The house is on 3 floors including the cellars. They have live demonstrations in some rooms, and the staff are on hand to provide explanations.Entrance is €7 per adult and gets you access to the house and other buildings. Just walking around the grounds is free of charge.Parking is across the road and is free.
Amazing window into history with both the main building and many supporting buildings well restored
Great place to have a summer walk in the park
Palmse, a trip to EstoniaDuring my exchange program to Estonia, we went to this beautiful mansion house. I loved it there! The Blacksmith is a very enthusiastic man that tells you interesting stories about his work. The property that belongs to this building is quite large, so there is plenty to see. You get a good view of the families that used to live here and the history that goes along with them. Definitely worth a visit!
