Charming destination for Louisiana cuisine in a rustic setting with a lush deck alongside the bayou.
The atmosphere was nice and our party of 9 was seated indoors. We were able to reserve a table for 10 indoors but thats their limit for indoor reservations. We were celebrating my nieces 20th birthday and the staff surprised her with a piece of cheesecake! The service was excellent but theres a limited menu. We ordered the crab and artichoke dip with the fried crackers as an appetizer and the crackers were absolutely wonderful! Im not a fan of shrimp dishes served with the tail on the shrimp so I ordered a large house salad. It was generously sprinkled with pumpkin seeds and the house dressing was light and delicious. Also, I ordered the duck tasso gumbo but it was extremely salty. Several in our party ordered steaks and they were cooked to perfection but my niece had a steak that was extremely salty and her parmesan fries were very salty, too. Im happy my niece enjoyed her birthday and we were able to spend time with our family and friends but this was an expensive dinner and with the exception of my salad and the fried crackers I was not impressed with the food.
My husband and I visited Friday evening around 7pm. Palmettos is a casual semi fine eatery. Attire does not require a suit jacket. The food is 100% A+ Grade. There were no wait times but we did have reservations and the restaurant was full so I would suggest reservations for dinner during busy times. The setting is large open rooms with clean white linen table cloths, silver utensils, well lit warm lighting, beautiful old draft windows and, for our visit, a harpist playing softly. It’s Jazzy. I enjoyed it , and will visit again.
Incredible food, environment!!! Great place for big parties
Here for brunch, restaurant is beautiful, service is great, so petty on the water. Ordered the crab cake Benedict. The poached eggs were a little over cooked, not as runny as they shouldve been, the hollandaise was a little too sour, but the crab they used was not fresh crab which wasvtje most disappointing part. There was a lot of crab but it was not lump, it was definitely front a container and mashed together. It was a beautiful presentation for sure.
A perfect venue for an amazing retirement ceremony. The staff was polite, personable, eager to help, and top notch. The food is outstanding! 🫶🏽
Excellent atmosphere. Super friendly staff. The menu is reasonably priced. Definitely worth a visit, if you havent been there yet.
The food is delicious and the service is top notch. Whether you get the burger or one of the incredible seafood dishes, you wont be disappointed! The catch Pontchartrain is phenomenal, and the desserts are delicious yet surprisingly light!
Natalie was soooo amazing. Our lunch was 10x better because of her. Impeccable service, so friendly, and not to mention the food was phenomenal. Highly highly recommend and ask for Natalie!
Got engaged here on the magical boardwalk along Bayou Bonfouca! Staff assisted in setting up a special table with roses and my card. They made the evening unforgettable after I said yes, too, by offering to take photos of us and announcing to the other guests in the dining room that "She said yes!" Clapping & cheers enveloped the deck. It was a night I wont forget & Palmettos is a very special place to visit with a loved one. Highly recommend dining on the outside deck at night. The cypress trees on the bayou are lit and look like something out of a fairy tale.
First let me start buy saying the atmosphere in this place is amazing. Our waitress was Lauren, she was top tier, very attentive and checked on us enough to let us know she saw us. The food was amazing. Everything was freshly cooked and hot. I had the ribeye and fried potatoes and my husband had the catch ponch. (Grouper was the fish), we also had the smoked pork belly, charbroiled oysters, crab cakes, and double chocolate cake. All which was delicious. I’ve never been to a restaurant where the service matched the food. We will definitely return again.
Food and atmosphere were fantastic. We found you last year while traveling from Colorado and made a point to come back last weekend. The only thing that could have been better was the service. We were there at a fairly slow time and were left sitting for quite awhile after the waitress first welcomed us. I finally headed to the bar after about 15 min and she saw me and then started helping us with our order. I understand things come up, just make sure you let people know what is going on and that will go a long way in our book.
Hats off to the chef! Lovely jazz and brunch at Palmettos as usual. The chicken and waffles were awesome. The Whipped butter taste like pralines. The Pot de crème was decadent. “ sweet dreams “ on a plate . I was ready for my afternoon nap lol. The barter tender , such a sweet girl and so attentive. Thank you !
We love Palmettos! Food is always fresh and outstanding and the cocktails are spectacular! We come here at least once a month and love supporting our local small businesses!
August is my birthday month. I tend to make a habit of trying new restaurants throughout the year but I go all out for the month of August. I visited for a late lunch on a Friday. They were between brunch and dinner so there was a limited menu. However the simplistic beauty and the welcome that I received when I walked in swayed me to stay. I tried the La Bella cocktail and in a word, it was transformative! They used a flavored cocktail enhancer to seemingly magically change a simple Moscato to something AMAZING! I opted to have a Caesar salad and cheeseburger for lunch. The salad came out first. It was, by far, the best Caesar Ive ever had! My cheeseburger was just as delicious. It comes fully dressed with Cajun seasoned fries. Everything was cooked perfectly and I enjoyed every bite! I didnt save room for dessert but I will DEFINITELY be returning to try it.
Delicious food and true Louisiana ambiance. Classy Bayou dining you could carry:)
My husband and I visited this little gem on our way back home from Florida to Texas. The setting is super quaint and charming, the food looks & tastes delectable. Our waitress made us feel rushed. She took my plate away while I was literally still eating. We would visit again, but request a different waitress.
Amazing restaurant and service. Location was beautiful and the food beyond amazing. We had cooked oysters, Gumbo, fish of the day and crab cake Benedict. Was not disappointed at all. When Im back in town, Ill be stopping by again.
This place is amazing!! GREAT food (get the chargrilled oysters for sure!and the service was FANTASTIC!! We weren’t really passing thru but did a little detour after my husband read a bunch of reviews for brunch spots on our way home traveling from Baton Rouge going east towards Alabama. We would be regulars if we lived there!
Absolutely amazing! Gorgeous atmosphere, great tasting food, and fast service. I came here for a girls night dinner and was very impressed. We will definitely be coming back for another amazing experience on the bayou.
Beautiful spot, right on the water. Amazing drinks, amazing food! Glad we found this little gem!
Went for brunch for my parents 56th wedding anniversary. Beautiful scenery, great food, relaxing atmosphere, nice jazz band for brunch, good drinks. All in all a wonderful experience. We had an amazing waitress named Lauryn. She suggested great drink choices and took time with us and my elderly parents who get a bit overwhelmed by menu choices and newer surroundings. I wish we would have been there in the evening to enjoy the sunset and the beautiful lights outside. I will be going back here again very soon.Parking is on a graveled surface, so if you’re in heels you may want to get dropped off at the door.
This place is Awesome,Beutiful atmosphereoutdoor deck seating .It was Father Day Brunch. We spend nice time .Food delicious,Our waitress Katie M ,she was Nice and attentiveI recommend this place 👌
I took my parents here for their 56 anniversary. This was such a great experience. The food was excellent but the customer service from Lauryn was amazing. The hibiscus mimosa is a must try. The oysters were fried to perfection. The pork belly was great. The trout fish sandwich was good. Also the crab artichoke dip with the fresh toasted crackers is a must have. The scenery was breath taking and the jazz band for brunch was a nice touch. I will definitely go back.
My, daughter, and I went for a Sunday Jazz Brunch. The gumbo was fantastic! The aesthetic on the deck was great. Lots of fans so the heat was bearable. Highly recommend!
Food was very good. Ordered coconut shrimp for appetizer. For Entrées we had duck and half chicken.Dessert, bread pudding and the delicious creme brulee.Server Kathryn was awesome.Husband and I went there for our 1st anniversary.Nice place and nice atmosphere. Will go back.Thanks.
We celebrated my daughters first dance recital and my birthday on the patio, it was the most beautiful bayou scene with a lovely clarinet and guitar duo playing. The staff was wonderful and handled our large group professionally and charismatically. So grateful to have happened upon this place when searching for a place in slidell. Also the food was incredible one of the best gumbo I have EVER had, and that says alot Ive lived in heart of Cajun country for 8 years. Everyones plate was totally empty!I dont drink much and I dont drink sodas so it was amazing to have delicious homemade Blueberry tea!
Excellent food. Tonight we had the tasting menu. It was fabulous. Heirloom tomatoes with burrata followed by pan fried red fish served over crawfish etouffe with buttermilk Panna cotta for dessert....so.good.
This place is awesome! Had a grilled shrimp Ceasars salad today that was so flavorful! Fun brunch atmosphere with live music. We sat outside and it was delightful! Lauren was our waitress and she was top notch!
It was Mothers Day Brunch..... absolutely fantastic. All the staff out there are genuine good people and deliver an unforgettable experience. Respect to Owner Duffy Ramirez for having the vision and drive to make it a reality.
stopped in after a memorial service for a dear relative. we did not have a reservation, and only ordered a few drinks and a couple appetizers to recharge before finishing our day, but the service was fantastic, food was top notch, and setting is enchanting.PUT THIS ON YOUR LIST OF PLACES TO CHECK OUT!
Outdoor deck seating is upscale but relaxed. Great atmosphere and service for brunch. Crab cake eggs benedict is delightful, hollandaise sauce was traditional but light and whipped. Appetizers were appropriately sized for 4 people to split without ruining appetite for your main course, pork belly was delightful.
The ambience is amazing. They have a really nice staff. And the food is delicious especially the crab cake.
Food was outstanding, enviroment off the charts!beautiful scenery Great southern vibe, loved it cant wait to go back!
It happened to be steak night and it was awesome. Always great service and great food.
The crab dip with deep fried Saltines!!! Beautiful space, great food, awesome service!
What a delightful afternoon with excellent service, yummy cuisine and cocktails 🍸 as well as wonderful music. Making this a 5 star experience. I highly recommend on Sundays from 1-3pm to enjoy the enclosed patio with life music 🎶
Consistently excellent food service and views. Pam, our server was very attentive and polite. She checked on us frequently but not too often to interfere with our dinner. I love bringing guests from out of town here to a unique setting that they cant find anywhere else.Great fresh seafood!
The service we recieved was great! Our waitress was very attentive and sweet. Any questions I had about the menu she was able to explain in great detail.I went for brunch and had a jalapeño cornbread with a crawfish sauce which was a special appetizer for that day. It wasnt spicy at all, but it was pretty good. The fried gulf oysters was on point. I really enjoyed, along with the sauce!Overall, I had wonderful time dining here, not to mention the ambience and atmosphere was wonderful, I will definitely be back. Next to try will be the Palmettos cheeseburger, Im told it is very good. I recommend you to give this place a try :.
The Creole music today was great and for an out of state guest, a warm, unexpected treat. The Crabcake (was big, but pictures show maybe we should have gotten 2 instead of 1 for the price? Just asking.and the Glazed Pork Belly appetizers were to die for. The Bayou ambiance was second to none.
Absolutely wonderful. The atmosphere and venue is awesome. The food is tasty and prices versus portion are firm but fair. Fast friendly service. We will be back.
I had sausage and chicken gumbo a cup and crab cakes with eggs benedict and Hollandaise sauce on top and JoJo potatoes which are just like home fries with green peppers and onions the only bad experience is one egg was hard one egg was normal
Four of us celebrated a birthday, food was good, not excellent. The atmosphere overpowers the food, but thats ok and why we loved it. ! Bayou Bonfaca is flowing on the backside of restaurant, via a boardwalk through large cypress trees and many Palmetto shrubs, it absolutely beautiful!
Brunch….BBQ shrimp and Gouda gritsFish AlmondineThe ambience is very nice, staff attentive, live music very good. The bbq shrimp sauce was overpowering.I replaced it with banana foster French toast in which I enjoyed. The fish almondine was good. Spinach dip and fried plantains . I enjoyed the plantains , spinach dip ok. I will give Palmettos another try for lunch or dinner.
Driving in the restaurant location is tucked away and immediately lovely. The surrounding trees are a statement in Southern Living. We sat on the patio and it was a very hot August night but the fans kept us very comfortable. The atmosphere very relaxed yet upscale and the service impeccable. The food was excellent with a wine list for appropriate pairing. It is worth saving room for dessert as the bread pudding is probably the best I have had. The staff followed all safety guidelines and were very pleasant. Set among the trees along a bayou, this restaurant is the perfect spot for a relaxed, safe, evening with friends or date night or any special occasion. It is a hidden gem and a new favorite!!
One of the most beautiful restaurants Ive ever been to and the food was amazing! We got the Catch Ponchartrain, boudin egg rolls and bread pudding. Everything was great and the bread pudding was probably the best ive ever had!
Would have liked to rate it by trying the food...but after being seated by the hostess, we waited over 10 minutes for someone to come to the table and at least acknowledge us. It wasnt busy either. Will try again someday, maybe...Update from our initial 1 star review: We decided to go back and give it another try, this time it was for Sunday Brunch. It was very busy and we didnt have a reservation but were seated within 10 minutes. Our server, Josh, did an excellent job on service and recommendations. We enjoyed the entire experience and will be back again. We had mimosas, appetizers, and main dishes.
Fathers Day brunch $40 ea Boudin eggrolls were good. Shrimp & grits - I liked the shrimp but not the grits. Short ribs tasty but tons of fat. Bayou Blue drink sweet but very little alcohol $12. Bread pudding was delicious & no raisins. 🙂 Chocolate mousse good. Desserts were very small portions. Excellent, friendly, prompt staff. We couldnt hear the jazz band from our table, but walked around & heard them for a minute. They sounded great!. The restaurant itself is beautiful, but stairs to climb. Didnt notice a handicap ramp. Nice large wooden deck next to water.
This is a great upper end dinning experience for those wanting taste a little of the gulf shores. It is a bit pricey, but the service and quality of food is worth it. The two of us spent just at $100, and this was without drinks. The portion size was large enough that you did mind sharing and will require most to ask for a to go box. Well be back!
Awesome food and the service is great, the brunch menu is neat. 😀 I would definitely come back.Ask for a table outside and enjoy the sight.
Went there for Sunday brunch and it was amazing! The service is the best I have had in a while. The food was great . My favorite was the fried shrimp and fish, pancakes, waffles, bread pudding, and the absolutely amazing French toast! There was a two man band that played songs. The atmosphere is beautiful. Definitely can’t wait to come back at night !
