Near this is the Suwon fortress. That is a must visit place.This one is just a gate. Looks beautiful at night.

Old traditional place good for something new experience

Its really pretty much a gate with a roundabout surrounding it, walked around the gate but couldnt see any path to enter (?the actual area. Four stars because theres lots of stalls/shops surrounding the gate, its pretty much like a shopping district.

Quite cool to have a large round about around this gate. You can admire it even from a car. Nice illumination

Suwon is a morbidly underrated city. It’s an absolute must visit for anyone visiting Seoul

Beautiful place

Paldal gate was the southern gate of Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon, and it was unique because there was a roundabout around the gate. If I walked along the roundabout, I could look around the gate. There were many people because there were bus stops or a traditional market around here.

Nice places it shows cultural a long time

Nice, very historic... a combination of modern and historicql value.

The gates and fortress was one of the best things I saw in Korea. The restoration, the signs and the views made this an absolute treasure. This is a great sight for families, but be aware there are some steep areas. But they are often with rewards of more historical sights.

Perfect for a walk

One of the largest gates in Suwon. Quite a long walk from Suwon station but if you like walking then you could probably do it in 30mins (assuming no stops for photos), otherwise there are many buses that go towards the gate, bus 35 is one of them. From the gate, youll be able to find local markets and even the famous fried chicken street nearby. Hwaseong Fortress is also a short walk from the gate.

Looks best at night due to the lighting effect. Namun market( Paldamun Marketnearby makes for a great street shopping and food alternate to Myeongdong. Handbags are available at throwaway prices and there are always great discounts going on at the Nature Republic store.

Very nice historic place. A lot to walk around. Very nice Korean restaurants are available nearby. Its better to go during the fall time. So that you can explore the place and the views will be so nice as well.

Good place and clean

Its a great place. If you wanna see the city of suwon or want to take picture of Korean heritage but not too much people like in seoul you can go here. Paldalmun gate near traditional market and suwon station. So you can reach there easily. If you hungry so many food street also near there if you walk a bit to suwon station.

I love this place especially the local market near to the great is very interesting ! You get to feel and experience the local culture . I always spend more time watching vendors of different stalls ! In addition you get fresh and cheap vegetables / fruits and fish . An hour minimum is required to dwell into small shops of food / clothing and accessories.

If you are following the fortress wall, youll eventually come to this place (although not directly because there is a little break in the wall). The Suwon market is nearby. Its a good place to get some food during your trek around the fortress. Its very lively with vendors and shoppers. You will enjoy the visit.

Awesome place for a small trek on a weekend. There is a market around the fort catering budget products. Nice place for foodies too.

Its a nice place to visit to have a long pleasant walk with life partner along side the walls of castle during the day time .. place also contains child play area zones and park benches for elderly to breath some fresh air..

Its historic place and very beautiful during cherry blossom and spring

You can visit the Hwaseong Fortress from this gate. The entrance fee is super cheap and visiting during the end of winter was a good choice. A great place for a simple hike and appreciating the historical values of this world heritage.

The wall is not continuous at Paldalmun and there are many busy markets around the gate.

The gate is nice to look at and take photos of. The area around it is quaint with some decent spots to eat and shop. However, if you are staying in Seoul, I wouldnt suggest making a trip out here to visit.

Suwon castle have four big gates. Paldalmun is well reserved and big gate among them. It is a good place to visit in Suwon because many traditional market, shops and restaurants are near by this Gate.

Nice place to spent few hours and do lot of shopping in Pladalmun Market..

Very pretty part of Suwon, but as far as I knos, you cant go inside and the fort is surrounded by car trafic, but its still worth to see if you are in Suwon (where you should definitely go).

Daiso has items relatively cheaper than outside market. Nature Republic has good cosmetics at reasonable price.

Paldal means connecting everywhere! AKA Nam-moon (South Gate). There is spicy tteokbokki place in the traditional market.

This fort is awsome. But you need to climb on steps. The people can see the suwon city view from here. And you can find the korean traditional things here. There is a market at foot of this fort. There you can see the wide range of foods, clothes and cosmetics. One of must visit place in suwon.

The gate is interesting and pretty similar to the other major gates of the Hwaseong fortress. The market next to it is very exciting and the stream is a wonderful place to stroll along, another way of admiring the fortress, which will lead you to Hwahongmun.

Nice area of Suwon. Used to be the center of town, but now is an area with traditional markets and food trucks at night. A walk down the river is highly recommended with the river walkway right down the street.

There is hungryjacks(burgerking:pand transition from a bus to another is easy and some tourist scenes. Landmark!

Great place to hike with our odd history!

This fortress is a great space to hike, walk and look at views of the city.

Very pretty and easily accessible. At night it is usually lit up. To get to the main part of the fortress you have to walk another 10min from paldalmun (the south gate)
