Palais Longchamp in Vitrolles
Description
Amazing. Worth a visit.
Only intrance building is beautiful
Amazing architecture and preservation of all of the places! You must visit this palace. One single thing I suggest you, install the surveillance cameras in the garden. Its not good to see the sculptures in the park destroyed and scarred. Its a lack of respect.
MoreNice park to walk with a dog and have your morning coffee. Beautiful waterfall. Funny animal sculptures — smart way for a zoo. A bit small.
MoreIt was amazing, beautiful architecture and waterfall. The musee of art was a bit small but contained exceptionnal pieces
MoreThe Palais Longchamp was a gorgeous place with tumbling waterfalls, overflowing greenery and towering arches. Even in bad weather, it is excellent. The Musée des Beaux Arts had various beautiful scenery paintings as well as lovely portraits and the Musee de l’Histoire Naturelle was very well made but had many kids so there was a lot of noise. Overall, it was a great experience.
MoreBeautiful place to visit when in Marseille.
Very luxurious grounds and stunning architecture, if you have additional time, visit the museum inside.
MoreThis was a quick stop on a bus tour of the City. Impressive to see in person.
Palais Longchamp became easily one of my favorite places in Marseiile. If you are an early bird then I recommend you visit it in the morning for there are very few people and you cand enjoy the peace and quiet. The sundown is also a good options for you can see this masterpiece in the golen hour light. It activates as a park also so the entry is free (so you definitely need to have this one on your list)
MoreI went in an early morning and admired the nice architecture. the garden vibes and the fountain water sound. Access to the grounds eas free.
MoreA nice place to visit.Inside you will see people having picnics, groups having fun and others taking pictures. To reach the place, you can walk for 20 minutes from the old port through La Canebière.
MoreA large palace with beautiful sculptures, water and green features with a park behind it.
MoreAwesome views and incredible architecture..well worth a visit.
Lovely fountains by the gardens. It has a bar/coffee shop. The toilets are disgusting, flooded, smelly,...it closes at 6.00. Lively with families and children.
MoreLoved the museum bit but the fancy top part is just a facade and there is nothing at the top after you climb up a 100 steps - if course there is a bit of a view from the top but nothing else
MoreBeautiful ornate building and grounds. The architecture and workmanship are stunning. If you wander up the steps you can also gain access to the gorgeous gardens behind.I didn’t get a chance to visit the museum as it was closed, but I still enjoyed admiring the magnificent palace and grounds.
MoreGreat place to see when visiting
Beautiful architecture. I was blown away by its sheer beauty and spectacle. Very unexpected if you didnt know it was there.
MoreThis is seriously a must see while in Marseille. The most amazing thing in the city. The Palais Longchamp is nestled in a green setting in the center of Marseille. Built in 1869 to celebrate the arrival of water in Marseille, the monument houses the Natural History Museum of Marseille and a Fine Arts Museum.
MoreSerene, beautiful & very grand!
Fountains sound will dissolve the city one, sculptures are massive but very natural, bulls are holding an entire city the building is hiding secrets on seals of the massive and grotesque building.Behind it you will find a park that will reopen something that is hidden in you. Sit, relax and enjoy the view of the city through the art of the construction guarded by the amazing statue.I will not tell to you an entire history of this palace. Go, visit, explore :-)
MoreNice place to visit relaxing 😌
I only spent 5 hours in Marseille but Palais Longchomps is definitely worth the visit. The water feature is unlike anything you will see elsewhere.Unfortunately I didn’t have time to visit the museum. There is also a little play area at the top for kids to play in while you take in the sight. The place is a little dirty though. I did spot a few broken glass bottles around.
MoreThe very beautiful place in France, you must have this in your list.
Hard to find such a beautiful palace that too in city centre. Must visit also the museum from inside. Good waterfall. I loved it. Good tram connectivity from city centre.
MoreThe Palais Longchamp is a monument in the 4th arrondissement of Marseille, France. It houses the Musée des beaux-arts and Muséum dhistoire naturelle de Marseille. The surrounding Longchamp Park is listed by the French Ministry of Culture as one of the Notable Gardens of France.
MoreBeautiful fountain located close to a metro and a tram station. At one side of the fountain there is the palace of beaux arts and at the other side The natural history museum.Theres also a Parc behind where you can picnic or just sit down and enjoy the view.
MoreThe main park wasn’t open but the fountain areas and the lens were perfect for my afternoon reading.
MoreWhat a lovely place to visit. I was content just taking photos from the outside the gate but then saw it was free to wander the grounds as well. It was definitely worth the long walk there (or you could use public transportation but we had not figured it out yet so we just walked).
MoreThe park is fabulous and absolutely gorgeous. The water fountains are very pretty and refreshing. Walking around the columns and winding staircases brings joy to the soul. The museum is good, but small and a little outdated. However in since the last time I was here maybe 8 years ago, they’ve added English and Spanish to the description cards. Great place to take great photos!
MoreSo much history here, very beautiful and worth the visit.

MorePalais Longchamp must be the most beatiful and the best place to visit on Marseille, it is stuning, the architecture of the place is unbelievable. You can also chill at the gardens and enjoy the day around it.This is a Must when going to Marseille
MoreThis is a beautiful fort with some Roman architecture the fountain look beautiful and picturesque. The steps lead up to a garden good for a walk. The best part again is the fountain and the view from the front.
MoreNice place, back garden ain’t that cool but you can find a drinking water fountain there!
MoreJust a few minutes away from the city center, this place is most elegant and cleanest garden in Marseille. Perfect for photoshoots. It probably is the only place in this city without any graffitis. I feel safe hanging out here.
MoreAn incrediy beatiful building with a majestic outlook and amazing architecture. The entrance is free and it is home to 2 museums, one on each side. Once you get at the top, a park opens behind it.
MoreBeautiful fountain with an amazing architechure around. You can also find one museum there which I didnt go. In the back it has a garden which is just a small normal garden, nothing special really.
MoreIt’s a beautiful place to visit and has a coffee shop too with a great view!
Place itself is lovely however it is far from the port, if you are going there with a scooter or bike be careful because you will have to go through some rough neighborhoods, even i was with my boyfriend i felt a little bit unsafe. We had to be extra cautious in that neighborhood. But there is a bus line right across from it i suggest to take that bus. Especially there are unlimited 24/48/72 hour passes you can buy from major stations and use in all public transportation.
MorePalais longchamps is 5 stops away from vieux port. Very accessible and easy to spot. You can visit two museums: history and natural sciences along with beautiful parcs and a even a zoo. Palais longchamps is a celebration of the coming of water in the city of Marseille in 19th century. Nice sport for photo shooting.
MoreThe place is bit far from the old port around 30 minutes walking. The palace is located in a zone where roads are dirty, streets under construction and so crowded. The palace is inside a park and have a zoo. The palace is so beautiful, the architecture is wonderful but unfortunately some walls have words written on them. In general the palace is a good spot to make great photos , you can see around people taking professional photos ( instagrammers 🤩😹☺️)
MoreBeautiful building surrounded by a very nice park. The main stairs are spectacular and a good photo opportunity.
MoreBeautiful place to visit when you are in Marseille. Besides the fabulous entrance, there is a nice garden after the buiding.
MoreA nice place to walk around. People can go there in a sunny day, spend the day out in the garden. A good place to be on leisure time. The big water fountain is a pleasure to see.
MoreBeautiful and peaceful. Check out the garden and the funny zoo as well, a zoo with no real animals, great for kids.
MoreNice and peaceful spot near the train station. If you have a wait for a swap in trains like I did its worth going to relax and get some food. Not been into either of the museums but they seemed busy enough so must be interesting.
MoreWow! The most amazing entrance to a park I think Ive ever seen. Epic sculptures and we went when the fountain was out of service. I can only imagine how beautiful it would be with the fountain!
MoreBeautiful (and freepicturesque area for a nice picnic or photoshoot. Area is spacious and not over congested. Just be aware it’s a lot of stairs to the upper areas, with no accessible alternative.
