Paladar Doña Carmela - Cuban restaurant in Regla, Cuba
Tourist scam, stay away from it. Food tast ok, but the price is a rip off.
:dobry biznes ... :Kubańczycy sredni dbają o to by turysta do nich wracal :)
Yo no volveré.
Also guter Tipp am besten diese Hütte meiden.(Translated by Google)The last store. As the previous speakers have already announced, the food here is far too expensive. Its supposed to be a typical "Cuban restaurant" (if you believe it...), 2/3 of the population cant afford this food at all. They try to squeeze the last out of the tourists here. A simple pork steak, which comes very close to chewing gum, costs a whopping 18 euros plus a "service fee". So good tip best avoid this hut.
GUYS!! MUST READDo not go to this restaurant, this is a scam, tour guides are scamming people and bringing tourists to this place to get commission.- I got sick, food poisoning last week, this place ruined my vacation, not just me, but whole family.- Also, it’s extremely expensive comparing an to the other Havana restaurants.- If your tour guide insists you, just tell him NO.
DON’T GO…VERY VERY VERY EXPENSIVE FOR A BAD FOOD. TOURIST SCAM
Attrape-touriste!
Like the other reviews said, this place is partners with Tour Companies. Food is good, Service is good, but it costed us $65CAD for 2 mains & 2 beverages. Also when we went there was musicians and singers playing music and expecting tips. We just wanted to have a nice quiet lunch and we were bothered by the musicians asking for cash tips.
The food was good, the prices ridiculously high, for 4 people we ate, 3 fried fish, 1 garlic shrimp and 4 fish soups for a total of 11,600. Cup. Not even a 5-star restaurant charges that. There was also involved a supposed tourist guide from the state who charged 500 cups per person for a total of 2000 cups. Keep your eyes open that take advantage of foreigners. Being a Cuban American, I am ashamed to see things that happen in this country.
Unfortunately, this restaurant is a tourist scam that likely partners with some of the tour operators in exchange for kickbacks. If you pay in CUC, they charge a conversion rate of $80, whereas the official government rate is closer to $19. Do not go here, and if your tour operators take you there refuse to dine in, otherwise it will be a costly mistake.
We recently ate there it was a bad experienceStay awaythe Coffee sugar bowl was crawling with ants when I took the cover off .I asked for another sugar container for our coffee and the server simply cleaned out the one they had first brought to us placing it back on our table .
Great service and food!
It is a nice looking but overpriced restaurant where tour guides take tourists for their commissions. A meal costs 16 CUC and a Mojito around 5 CUC. One slice of meat smell so bad I had to send it back. They also put the final price in USD on the bill with no explanation hoping that I will pay the higher amount by mistake.Live music was nice.
Stopped here as part of a Havana tour with friends. The menu was simple and featured typical Cuban dishes and sides- nothing here that would knock your socks off but it has a pleasant atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. One thing I do need to mention is that this was the last place I ate before I came down with Norovirus about 12 hours later. Im not saying I picked it up here but I cant think of where else I might have got it. I was the only one in our party who got sick but I was also the only one who tried the octopus. I asked if it was grilled and the server told me it was. When it came to the table it was actually marinated in oil and vinegar. I ate a bit and tried to send it back but she wouldnt take it off the bill and I ended up paying for it in more ways than one.Everyone else in our group was very happy with the food though. Just be careful what youre willing to risk if you want to be adventurous.
Overpriced and a tourist trap
Wonderful location, always again, very friendly team, the food was very good, always again
the average food for a high price. They added 10 cuc to my invoice. after my intervention they corrected it
The 5 star rating is for the service, not the food. Unfortunately they did not have the food dishes we wanted to eat. They were very friendly, however and the place looked quite nice. There are little lawn gnomes everywhere.
(Translated by Google)Home eatery. There is nothing exclusive. The prices are high: for 2 bony fishes with rice and a can of beer flayed 41cuc! The hotel is much tastier. Do not waste your time, it is better to wander around Havana and buy a kilo of fruit for 2cuc. In the bill include a tip of 10%. Trying to additionally charge tip for toilet and music. The waiter to bring the bill does not reach, you have to run after him. Awful. There are in fact better institutions in Cuba.
I thought it was fantastic. Band playing. Authentic food. Friendly and quick staff.
Lamb !OMGVery nice restaurantVisiting Cuba !You have to go to this restaurant.
absolutely fell in love with the whole experience, best cuban live music i’ve heard in the 2 weeks spent around Cuba.food is hearty, delicious, and reasonably priced. a place you definitely must visit while in Havana
Loved the live music
Food was good but extremely expensive
Delicious food..drinks...atmosphere and music. Staff was patient and pleasant.
This was a nice restaurant. We had the surf and turf platter to share. It was good food and the beans were really super. In the scope of Cuban food this was good.
Large portions, reasonable prices, good entertainment. Friendly and helpful Staff. Free and ample parking. Just down the street from the Fort. Will go again.
Very private high class restaurant with great food and services.
I went here on my recent trip to Havana Cuba specifically by the salsacruise cruise on Nor wegian.Loved this quaint little place,so ideally Cuban.Service was perfect as well as the authentic food.Nice live music, and beautiful plush garden surroundings.Would definitely go back!
Our guide made reservations while we were in car tour. We told him we wanted authentic Cuban. Lunch. Walked right in. $40 seafood plate. Substituted calamari. We had lobster, chicken, pork and crab. Rice, beans, pumpkin and shared it. Still too much, but awesome taste. Fed a kitty, enjoyed a few drinks.
The atmosphere was nice, but the food was just ok.
Very nice restaurant with live music near El Moro (Havana). Food is also nice & staff are very friendly.
Ropa Viejo was supurb! The potatoes and green beans, black beans and rice were excellent as well! Took a while to get seated, but it was worth it. Loved the critters wandering about too.
Great Food and very good service. Relaxing atmosphere
Overpriced...
Worst food in Havana. We paid way too much for a disgusting fruit salad. Very unkind staff, except the lady at the bathroom. Too make things even worse, the place was cramped with loudly screaming drunk American ladies. I would highly recommend to not waste your time here and have a proper meal in one of the countless places in Old Havana, just across the water
Beautiful restaurant in the backyard of a small house located up on the hill near the Fortress in Havana, Cuba.LUNCH for 3 people cost $98 CUC - two meat dishes (fried chicken and ribs), one vegetarian dish (salad - the only option), three drinks & one bottle of white wine.PROS:- Fantastic ambiance: greeted by three men sitting in rocking chairs on the porch, large but cozy backyard (dining areaand gorgeous lush landscaping- Live music / band- Fast service- Friendly staffCONS:- Expensive- Rather bland food- Half of the menu was unavailable & the English translation took away from authenticity- Filled with tourists
Great food
The price is so expensive for what we get , we paid 42 CUC for 2 adults for a regular chicken and fish plate ( very very regular food , the average monthly salary in Cuba is around 15CUC so basically this restaurant is made to trap the tourists . ( We did not feel trying something special the restaurant is located in residential area so only your TOUR Guide who will bring you to this restaurant because they have commission for every guest ;If you are going to Havana for one day go before to your hotel ( it depends where is your resort , varadero or any city ..and give the guy who is working on the buffet 3CUC for tips and I promise you he will prepare all the food that you need for you and all your family that you can eat during this trip ..Like this you will save your money , because as a tourist for sure I can pay expensive for something that I will enjoy but I hate to be trapped .Plus they will charge you 10% Extra for the service and 1.5CUC for water even if you do not ask them ..I do not recommend it to anyone , you can eat cheaper in havana downtown or the best thing you can do as I told is to bring your food from your resort ( do not forget to tip the guy lol )Cheers ;)
Excellent food and sangria and lovely setting. Definitely our best meal in Cuba.
The best food I had in Havana, I recommend the main dishes "mariscada" (seafood variety including lobsterand "Doña Carmela" (meat variety as lamb , pork and chicken), each dish is well enough for two people, good service and beautiful garden, the singer Beyoncé ate here in her last visit to Havana
