I really did not like this museum. I didnt like seeing all of these torture and murder devices. I guess I should have known but I thought the museum would tell more of a story about the lived experiences of victims and survivors of the Inquisition given the name of the museum is The Forgotten". The description skims over a lot of detail and instead tells about how they were hunted and killed in great detail. I would have liked to hear more stories about the persecuted people who lived in Granada rather than their death only.Obviously I dont recommend it especially for children and sensitive adults.

If you ever been to any medieval castle in Europe, its high chance you already seen all this torture equipment. It has nice views from the top floor, towards Alhambra

A museum that focuses on the Spanish inquisition more than anything else. It does offer other exhibits, but its main attraction is the various gadgets and techniques used to torture those who refused to give up their faith and continued practising their religion in secret. Some of the exhibits are quite disturbing so come prepared. I got sick to my stomach reading the descriptions. Do go all the way to the top to catch great views of the roofs of Albaicin and parts of the Alhambra.

Shocking experience from this museum. It is great to see the dark history behind this city and Catholicism. Im grateful I was born in the modern time without facing such conflicts and brutality in the old days. The only advice is this museum is obviously not suitable for children.

It is a small exhibition of – at best – mediocre quality. The english texts on the inquisition are carelessly translated and insufficiently iluminated. The texts accompanying the items on display are written for shock effect rather than historic accuracy. Overall this has more in common with a dark ride than a museum.

We have seen the torture equipment used by Inquisition. Rather interesting, although if you think at what was used will make your skin crawl.

This is an incredible exhibition of torture machinery used during the inquisition. It is located in a quaint building near a busy street in Granada; almost easy to miss.It is a small museum (I wish it was bigger!), but the collection is very comprehensive and each piece is described in detail. It can be very raw and may not be appropriate for children, but the historic aspect of it is priceless.I wish there had been audio guides or maybe more museum personnel guiding the visitors.

On the 2nd January 1492 was the fall of Granada in southern Spain. For a start we have to remember that Spain was a Muslim country from 711. After the decline of the Roman Empire around 400 the northern part of the Mediterranean Sea was more Catholic.Granada was the capitol of the Emirate of Granada located in the south of Spain. It was Ruled by Emir Muhammad XII (1460-1533also King Boabdil. By his time Spain was divided into 5 Kingdoms and the Emirate was the last Muslim stronghold. It was a 10-year battle (not a 10 year warmore like individual attacks (targeting the Alhambra castleagainst the Emirate over a 10 year period from 1482-1492. The Catholic Queen Isabella I from Castile and Ferdinand II from Aragon combined their forces to finally make a breakthrough in 1492 with their more modern, advanced artillery weapons. As a result, Muhammad surrendered and the treaty of Granada was filed. The treaty had eventually mild terms for the Muslims but was overtime not followed by the book.In the aftermath the Muslim had to convert to Christianity or ended in slavery. The relatively large Jewish community was forced to convert or being expelled.Within the 10-year conflict about 100,000 died in battle or became enslaved. For the Christian community it was considered a significant siege that was seen as a revanche to the loss of Constantinople to the Ottoman Empire in 1453.

BEWARE!If youre mentally unwell enough to like torture then this is for you. However, there is no Jewish art or history at all. You will be charged 6 Euro to view various images of gruesome forms of torture. The museum is not about the Forgotten (los Olvidadosat all!

It starts off softly, and becomes more and more intense as it continues. Illuminating on how cruel humans can be. It finishes nicely by a view of Alhambra to cool down. The lady was so nice and it felt thought out and with a purpose to bring awareness.

This exhibition shows how cruelly inventive people can be. The torture instruments on display had been designed to main and execute those victims of the Inquisition. Each item was designed to cause maximum pain and often dismemberment before death. It was a horrifying tour but I was also aghast at the ingenuity of the engineers. Horrible but a must see.

This had different exhibits. The history of Flamenco and detailed history of the Inquisition. Many torture devices explained and some on exhibit. Some could make you nauseous. Well worth the visit. Live flamenco shows a few nights a week.

Only one floor of the museum was interesting. That was the torture floor. The interactive flamenco is possibly better if you Spanish and I didnt get the top floor being empty. To be honest I wouldnt waste your money.

This museum is dual purpose: a very well thought out interactive flamenco mini-museum on the ground floor and on the first floor extensive information and exhibitions of the inquisition. Also, the upper floor has a very well worth visiting photo exhibition of the works of contemporary photographers. Be sure to visit the last floor for a wonderful view!

We stumbled upon this museum by chance, but Im glad we did! The museum is very informative about the Inquisition period and the various torture devices to go along with that. Its definitely a dark period, but nonetheless very interesting to learn more about it. The first floor of the museum is about Flamenco and its history. Not sure how Flamenco and torture devices/the Inquisition go together, but it was a lovely visit! I would definitely recommend stopping by this place

This museum tells a riveting story about the Spanish Inquisition, using displays of original implements of torture, well explained in several languages. In the evenings they put on an exciting performance of Flamenco dancing, singing, and guitar.

Moderate your expectations for this small museum that fulfills an important historical function documenting the religious sadism of the Catholic church. I hope the curators will one day expand its collection and deepen the explanatory content. The incongruous flamenco museum downstairs is fluff.

What a wild rollercoaster of an experience (in a positive sense)! This museum is not seen by many, but is a must see while in the beautiful city of Granada. We started off learning about the history and development of the flamenco dance in a funny way on the lower floor (yes, you could even try to dance it yourself helped by Señor Jose Luis and a video explaining the basic steps 😃).After the funny experience, we went upstairs only to be hit in the face by the often hidden history about what the Spanish inquisition (that was authorized by the Pope himselfdid to people outside the Catholic faith. Especially the Muslims and Jews were the victims of the unbelievable kinds of torture that this museum shows. But also Catholic citizens who behaved outside the Catholic discipline got to taste the ugly torture.

Not much to the museum, no original implements of torture, one whole floor of Jewish artifacts, but they had little to do with the inquisition. One whole floor was just essays, no exhibits at all. Not worth the price of admission. The museum in Toledo is better.

We went there for the flamenco show and boy what a treat it was! The dancer was spectacular! It’s a very small venue of about 50 people but it meant that the show was more personable and intimate. The dancer was so into the dance she was performing that she didn’t miss a beat. My jaw dropped in shock as I watched her feet move so fast yet in a controlled manner. The singer was great as was the guitarist. They were all in a rhythmic mood in sync with one another. I would go back there again in a heart beat. Very inexpensive compared to some of the other flamenco shows. I thought to myself that I didn’t pay enough for the tickets as the dancer deserved more than what we paid! She was that good! Mucho mucho bueno. Mesmerizing! One flamenco show in Granada NOT to be missed! (Right behind the Alhambra10 stars in my book!

I gave it 5 stars but this is a very disturbing exhibition staged in a beautiful house on 3 floors. It shows mans inhumanity to man in the name of religion and power. It does try to explain the underlying philosophy of the period, to put the torture and death into perspective and almost tries to persuade us that it was understandable in that period. I dont believe that it is suitable to take young children here. We spent a considerable time, about 2 hours reading all of the descriptions which were written extremely well in both Spanish and English. We found it incongruous that 2 flamenco shows are staged in the evenings in the main hall of the house, adjacent to the exhibits. I suppose that the extreme torture inflicted on innocent people at the time of the Inquisition would have been carried out at the same time as others were enjoying themselves. However Im afraid that the screams of the tortured would resonate louder than the loudest of flamenco singers.

this Is not well curated, lacks context, depth, scope and poorly presented artifacts with no descriptive or narrative focus. In fact it is insulting to Sephardim and the religion as a whole since there is nothing that provides any perspective on their socio-cultural contributions. Very sad

I had the luck visiting it during a special exhibition. But it is not for the faint of heart. It is just so heart breaking to see how how Sephardic Jews were treated. But it is part of history and there is no better way to be informed than visiting museums like this.

Educational and eerie. It shows you the ugly side of humanity that did (and still doesexist. They are not asking for much to enter, it was only €6 and theyre are three floors and some things are outside too. Some really scary things are in there and there is a section dedicated to Jews regarding their hardships in Spain during the Inquisition.

In the Jewish section a bunch of stuff on display, but little is explained about it or its value. Some educational narrative exists, but not worth the money imo. There was also an inquisition section where most of the items were reproductions, but one can only read that many detailed torture descriptions before feeling nauseated, and imo the narrative should be more about the people not the devices.
